Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings Are Eternal Principles by Candour(m): 3:46pm On Oct 04, 2013
Gombs: Do you give your church offerings on an altar? grin chai

Abraham gave physically to Melchizedek, 4 generations after, the bible said something

Hebrews 7 v 9-10 AMP

9 A person might even say that Levi [the father of the priestly tribe] himself, who received tithes (the tenth), paid tithes through Abraham,
10 For he was still in the loins of his forefather
[Abraham] when Melchizedek met him [Abraham].

Did Levi give the tithes physically?

Verse 8 says something striking

8 Furthermore, here [in the Levitical priesthood] tithes
are received by men who are subject to death; while there [in the case of Melchizedek], they are received by one of whom it is testified that he lives [perpetually].

They are Received...meanwhile it was only abraham that tithed to Melchizedek physically...why did the bible use THEY WERE instead of IT WAS? Doesn't that tell you something?

Don't ask me about how I pay tithe today...I pay it in church if you want me to answer why not physically to Jesus, answer first whether the levitical tithes went to Melchizedek physically

I like your questions! The are edifying to talk on albeit unnecessary
You see your gymnastics? Are we talking about Levitical tithing, priesthood or Abraham's tithe to Melchizedek?

Abraham sacrificed offerings on the altar to God but gave tithes physically meaning they are not the same. Don't come with that story of dropping tithe and offering together. Even Mosaic law demarcated them.

Are u paying tithes today because of Abraham or because of the Levites? If you've changed your reference points, let me know.

The OP talked of eternal tithe principle which you obviously refer to Abraham's tithe to Melchizedek. Do kindly tell how you do yours today

If you've jumped back to the levitical tithing in Mosaic law, then we can start from Num 18:21-32. The choice is yours.

You wanted to teach me, so pls oblige this student

Gombs: Zikky started from the fact that Melchi was mortal (a man)

Then he said he was Jesus

Then he said the bible didn't record Melchizedek's genealogy

Then he now agreed they are not same

Then now he is saying the his crew are not against tithing bt against preaching it huh
... grin

Cadour blew it big time and ran away

Christembassey just refuses to be honest. Making a joke of facts just to hide the shame of being wrong all the while

Theoctopus just came in to answer roll call, neglecting other pages with facts already displayed

Kunle and Goshen don't wanna embarrass themselves, so they watch from sidelines

And me! I've done my piece, now..make una continue dey deny fact.

Cheers
I'm still here and I repeat my one and only question. how do you pay tithes to Jesus today?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings Are Eternal Principles by Candour(m): 3:14pm On Oct 04, 2013
Gombs: How do you give Jesus your offerings today? How does he collect them

Its like asking me how did Jesus/God collect the collections/offerings/or whatever you wanna call it , the apostles collected?

Or ask me how God collected the tithe Jacob paid

Sir, I pay my tithe in Church as the bible instructs.
Abraham your example and my example whose style of tithing you claim to follow today gave his offerings by burning on the altar but when he gave tithes to Melchizedek, he gave the physical tithes physically to Melchizedek. Don't try to play smart pls. You distinguished between tithes and offerings so pls leave them that way.

I repeat the question. How do you pay tithes to Jesus today?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings Are Eternal Principles by Candour(m):
Gombs: Heheh I see aw you dodged that question

Oya let me answer urs! Jesus received tithe today because

1. He is of same order of Priesthood as Melchizedek a priesthood who blesses the tither. God was speaking in Mal 3v8 and he said he'd bless the tither. The Levitical priest didn't bless the tither.

2. Jesus like Melchizedek is alive forever, and their Priesthood is same

3. Melchizedek blessed Abraham cos he was greater, Jesus a priest of a diff kind who wrought us salvation
by his blood is of that order of priesthood.

All I'm saying is that that order of priesthood accepted tithes and blessed tithers, that priesthood is still alive today and forever.
You can see I didn't write an epistle when I answered your question.

The question I asked is simply

Q.since Jesus is of the same order as Melchizedek and we know Melchizedek received tithes HIMSELF, how does Jesus receive tithes today? Again my question is how do you pay tithes to Jesus today?

I believed by faith the gospel of christ, so, you believe by faith that the Levitical priesthood blessed the tithers? grin
Interesting
Pls go back to my post. I said because scripture does not tell us if levites blessed tithers or not, I won't speculate. Don't falsify what I typed in black and white to prove a point pls.

Are you serious? grin
I should accept what you believe that is NOT in the scriptures? So you want me to believe you rather than scriptures?
Wonderful grin
What is all these gymnastics forhuh What did I ask you to believe?

Pls answer my question. Its just one o

In other words, it didn't happen na, cos if it did, it must have been written. Moses wouldn't have forgotten details and events he engineered himself, would he? If God inspired him well enough to write the book of Genesis and he documented how Melchizedek blessed Abraham, how then would he forget Aaron blessing Israel tithers?
You're saying exactly what I said. It wasn't written whether Levites blessed the tithers or not. I won't try speculating. I thought this us what I wrote in my reply?

I have.
grin
My bro, you didn't answer anything. The one question again

How do you give Jesus his tithes today?

Don't run away pls
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings Are Eternal Principles by Candour(m): 1:11pm On Oct 04, 2013
Gombs: Did the speaker talk of a blessing to the tither?
If He did, then it means He could Bless, meaning it was
Likened to the order of Michizedek who blessed after receiving the tithe. Same order Jesus is of!, No?
You're actually very funny. So u haf catch person abi?

Whether blessing or not makes no difference. You and I know Jesus priesthood is superior to Aaron and after the order of Melchizedek. Now answer this

Q.If Jesus is after the order of Melchizedek and Melchizedek received tithes by himself, how does Jesus receive his today?

You believe? grin

So, now we are assuming stuffs? Interesting turn out of things
When you believe the gospel for your salvation. Were u assuming? I told you I believe they said thank you.accept it like that. Whether that is blessing or they pronounced a special blessing on the Israelites after receiving the tithes wasn't written so I won't speculate.

Pls I answered or attempted to answer your questions so pls answer my one question up there.
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings Are Eternal Principles by Candour(m): 12:45pm On Oct 04, 2013
Gombs: Answer the last two questions

Q: What law was changed?
A: The law that said only Levites could be priests.
Q: Which law said that?
A: The old covenant.
Q: Do we follow the new Priest?
A: Yes
Q: of which order is he?
A: Melchizedek
Q: Did the order of Melchizedek receive tithe and
blessed the tither?
A: yes
Q: Why then do people say malachi 3v8 was written
to
the those under the levitical priesthood even tho the
speaker talked about blessing u after u bring the
tithes?
A:because it was REALLY and ACTUALLY written to those under Mosaic law abi you heard of a storehouse when Abraham gave to Melchizedek?

Q: did levital priests bless the tithers?
A:I believe they must have said thank you after collecting the tithes. I won't know if you can call it blessing though

My answers in bold. Hope you realise I too have earned the right to ask you my own questions later?

Please I'd ask you a series of SHORT and PRECISE questions, PLEASE answer in like manner. Try not to be insulting, and attack the massage not the messenger!
There are two unanswered questions below pls engage them with short and precise sentences.
Your time starts now!
Gombs, pls go ahead and ask me directly. I won't be struggling to pick questions from a quote to someone else. I'm on a phone.

Pls just type them out clearly and directly.

Thanks

Mat 9:24 He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.
But at least Christ performed the miracle abi?

The only miracle I see you performing is suddenly conjuring up scriptures to show that Christ appeared to physically receive the tithes of the early Christians.

Knowing you and your partner Ola, I won't doubt your ability in this regard grin
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings by Candour(m): 2:17pm On Oct 03, 2013
Image123: Can you hear your hypocritical fellas, they want to prove no tithing with extrabiblical material but cry foul when my bro Ola did same? They forgot all their discrepancies and disagreements with the roman catholic when trying to show that tithing started in 1960 but they point out their grievances with Sproul and the Didache? They are not serious, and if not for other serious fellas reading, that's why we are still here.

Most of the first century believers had no issues with worshippin in the temple and observing temple rights including apostle Paul. But we know that Jesus told of the time to come when it will not just be in Jerusalem but in every place. The time is here.

Acts 21:20 And when they heard it, they glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are all zealous of the law:
The extra biblical sources became necessary when your partner Ola forgot that the internet is accessible from everywhere these days. He thought he could spin lies but brethren were here to blow his lies out the window.

That verse you quoted highlights your gross ignorance of Scripture. Those zealous of the law, did they suddenly see the apostles as levites? You think the Pharisees will allow them transfer levitical privileges to Peter and co?

I ask you again, whom did the early Christians pay tithe to? The levites, Jesus or the Apostles?

If honesty is your style, a simple answer will do but knowing you, you'll spin again.

Answer bro......the floor is yours.

Mark Miwerds: Thank you, Candour.

You too, can have much of this literature. Much of this is uploaded to an internet library. Go to archive.org and do searches for the words "tithe", "tithes", and "tithing." There are writings from the 17th and 18th Centuries that are quite revealing and educational.
Thanks my bro. I'll do that. Though if a Christian is honest, he should know that since none of the apostles were levites, they WOULD NEVER have collected tithes. If that is the case, then where did the tithing example start? This alone should make a sincere seeker ask questions.

But their gross dishonesty will not allow them think beyond the potential gain.

God bless you jare

Olaadegbu shown to be a liar once again. I doubt he's of DLBC. You can accuse DLBC of a lot of things, but not filthy lucre. The way he peddles outright lies to justify the tithe is indicative that he's a major beneficiary.

Thank God for Mark Miwerds and DrummaBoy who have literature that debunk all his spurious claims.

Its not about being right or winning an argument, its about standing on the truth which you have obviously refused to face.

[quite]The spoils of war was a gain to Abraham , he gave tithes of his booty and return the rest to the king.
And he treated it as such by giving 10% to the sovereign of the area. He didn't tithe from his farms or his flock. His is that difficult to decipher?

Try little honesty.
Says the man who has been flip flopping since he started the thread.

I will overlook that.
Why? Are u scared of confronting the truth? That you have frightened your members into docility with the 'touch not my anointed' mantra? Auditors indeed.

I will overlook that too. Let me look for reasonable post to respond to
Because you won't face the truth.

I will throw that To dust bin , any sensible post here to comment on?
grin cheesy cheesy

Sharp guy. I thought you were acting all prim and proper before?

Firstly Jesus taught on giving ,tithing, offerings , alms . Secondly Jesus collected money from people . Why did he not print out statement of account . Or at least tell the people what their money was used for. How much he spent to hire a boat, house ,almsgiving ,feeding etc, don't they have right to know what the master of the universe used the poor people money for cool.
And you or your G.O are in the same league and class with The Messiah abi? You're a Lord of the CEC universe abi?

Show where he asked anybody to donate to him? Show where he cajoled anybody to give him? Even Zaccheaus that was willing to give so much was not asked to give to Christ which he would have willingnly done. Who wouldn't want to give to the master? yet the Lord, because he's not a greedy money grabber like the ones we have today didn't take the advantage.

If na you Zacheaus said that to......hmmm.......the hammer for no be here o grin cheesy

Joagbaje: Was Melchizedek a levite?
Just as I don't go to war hence can't tithe like Abraham. Abi you do go to war and come back with spoils?

Kindly quote where I said so
If you can't remember you said a pastor's office is different from that of an accountant and he is not a signatory to Church account, then the problem is bigger than I thought.

Church records are open to auditors and the authorities to whom it may concern.
Which auditors? Internal or external? Once again, whom do you think you're talking to? Your members?

If you want to be honest, what stops you from opening it up to members whether they demand it or not? Is that not what we ask of politicians through the code of conduct bureau? But then, the morals of plenty pastors even trail behind that of politicians.

Purify your mind

Titus 1:15
Unto the pure all things are pure:but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled.
Only that pastors are the impure ones in this case. Just like you probably expected the police to turn the other side when Rev King was bursted.

That's a mans personal failing . Why not ask why Jesus didnt include his financial dealings in the "SERMON ON THE MOUNT" ?
Because Jesus wasn't screaming tithes, building offerings, first fruit offerings, anointing offerings etc every now and then. Even when he asked the rich to sell what they have, he didn't ask them to see Judas, the treasurer.
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings Are Eternal Principles by Candour(m): 9:19am On Oct 03, 2013
Joagbaje: Its about ethics , so Focus on the word of God. If you have no meaningful response. Hold thy peace .
And the word does not ask a Christian to pay tithes. Those who receive tithes are levites and you or any pastor are not one so why insist on it?

Getting personal is not a query .
Telling you to stop evasiveness isn't getting personal. Its about transparency

You are the dishonest person here because your manipulating my words to say what I didn't say. I never said the pastor has no say in he church finance . I said church money doesn't belong to the pastor . He is a steward . If you want clarification ,humbly ask. The church money does not belong to a pastor. Before Cec ,Rcc, winners etc will send out a pastor, the must first have a good paying job. The pastor gives his tithes and offerings . Many young churches have most bills paid by the pastor such has equipment ,venue rent etc until such churches grow up to be vale to pay their bills . One of Cec biggest church in lagos is pastored by he highest paid black man in chevron. With all his millions, is he doing a job or service? He rather put his own money into ministry with all joy.
You've always said a pastor has no dealings with Church finance so why the turnaround now? If you want or other pastors want to be honest, what stops you from laying all finances in the open so everybody can see it? Akingbola was an MD of a bank and a pastor in RCCG, did it stop him from stealing and financial recklessness? Your champion in Chevron can also dip his hands into the till if he doesn't move away from greed and covetousness. Cecilia Ibru too was an example of a Christian who gave with joy before Sanusi came so quit the stories. Having a good job is no guarantee of honesty, having contentment is.

Every church has structure on how money is allocated. Based on the call of God on those ministry. TV ,ratio,Internet, prison, staff, church running cost ,helps, etc etc. the pastor of course must be signatory to church account but not the sole signatory. He is responsible to authority above him. And most churches have auditors who visit he branches to ensure things are done rightly. You said you worked in a bank . Is your bank manager he owner of the money there? Is there no admin structure ? Pls talk like a banker dude.
Like I said, stop trying to be smart. He's not sole signatory u say. So who will challenge him? Or we should just assume him to be an angel that can't be tempted? I'm sure you didn't forget the case of a Guardian express bank manager who stole 10million naiea from his bank and gave to CEC in the early 2000s? Or the cashier in Sheraton who stole 37million and gave 20million also to CEC? A person in charge of finance has opportunity to steal if there is no determination to be transparent, a pastor is no different.

I'm thinking like a banker, that's why I can see through the charade because I witnessed it first hand.

How will i know what youre talking about ? Are you afraid ? He talk about several financial matters, from what was given to him and what he Laboured for and from what was sent through him.
Of course you won't know now. But you can draw up non existent possibilities of Abraham tithing more than once. Suddenly you dont know he was talking about collections for poor saints. Go back and read 2Cor 8 if you want to know.

If you're talking about what was sent through him , that's like a church project . And churches acquaint those who give about what the money is used for. If money is given for building, it is used for building, if money is given for prison ministry ,or motherless baby home it is used for the purpose intended.
And how do members know it was used for intended purpose if you don't tell them? And why shouldn't you tell them if you're a honest and transparent pastor? Paul said providing honest things not only in God's sight but also in the sight of men. Pastors should live by this creed.

If you have something to say or teach ,come out and stop hiding behind funny question. Which one is pretense ?

A pastor is not a sole signatory to church account, Before a church can even open an account bank will demand for the registration, and before a church is registered there must board of trustees .its not a one man show . All these are for checks and balances .
Who chooses board of trustees? You actually make me laugh. Telle who chooses board of trustees? Abi they too are called by God?

I'm encouraging transparency and openness. Hope you get me now?
Christianity EtcRe: Tithes And Offerings Are Eternal Principles by Candour(m): 7:50am On Oct 03, 2013
Joagbaje: I agree that majority opinion doesn't mean right. But rcc is a church of christ.
Sure. Members of the body of Christ are there.

Don't be insultive or get personal with me. Or i will stop responding to you. Deal with the bible thanks
Pls stop playing victim. If you have no answer to my queries, say so. When you wrote what I quoted, were you trying to take me for a fool? How can you honestly say a pastor has no dealings with tithes and other monies collected in the church? Who are you fooling? I supervised a JAAC account when I worked in a bank. The governor was not a signatory but only a very slow or dishonest person will say the governor doesn't dictate all withdrawals from that account.

It's not necessary , why should a pastor who works in a bank come and declare how much bank pays him . Is that the gospel he is called to preach? Even few pastors like oyedepo who told the church he stopped taking allowance or salary from church was he believed? Critics can't be satisfied.
Why do you like standing truth in its head? The example of Paul I gave, was it about his salary or you want to pretend not to know its in relation to collections from Gentile Christians for poor Jerusalem Christians?

I was in Living faith for three years. Did cash pick up of LFC monies as a cash officer for 4 years, stop telling me all these stories pls. Reserve it for those who dont know.

How?
Are you still pretending not to know about Paul's example on transparency?

Pls do. I'll oblige you my attention cheesy

I don't get you
Just a way of telling you that you saying a lot of people are still tithing doesn't make it a correct doctrine just like RCC being the biggest church in the world doesn't make it the right church or what do you think? wink

Tithes and offerings don't belong to the pastors. Pastors have their own jobs and businesses , and pastor give tithes and offerings like any other christian. Pastoring is only a responsibility .
I hear you. You think I'm as gullible as your sheep? Why can't the pastors be honest to give details of the financial transactions? Paul the apostle did it so why can't they display transparency like Paul.

2Cor 8:20-21
'Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by us: 21.Providing for honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men

If its to coax 10%, you know the power of example, but be transparent, you close your eyes to the example in bold.

Heb 7 has nothing to do with nullifying tithes. It nullifies Levitical structure and takes us back to to Abraham and Melchizedek .
And your interpretation of Melchizedek and Abraham's transaction transmuted into monthly monetary tithes today? Why not keep to Abraham's example by giving away the 90%?

Also how come the early Christians and the Apostles including the writer of Hebrews DID NOT pay and collect tithes?

All of a sudden, Bidam no longer holds to the lies that the early Christians paid tithes because he thankfully can't deny the numerous proofs but the new refrain is that God has revived tithes like miracles to prosper the church. What happened to all the lie lie exposition he's been doing while twisting the bible? Also where are the riches apart from the prosperity of your pastors? Keep deceiving yourself. grin

So what happened to the Christians in the 1800 years before tithes was revived? Are they all in hell now because Ola's hell videos said non tithers are hell bound?

If not that a man's conscience is dead, how can you still argue with history like this? How?

My bro, watch them perform an Houdini act now. They'll say God only gave the ten laws on mount Horeb when he spoke to Moses and they obey the ten forgetting that Sabbath is one of the ten and they don't observe it.

When you remind them tithe is not part of the ten commandments, they run to Abraham for defence saying tithe came before the law. When you tell them Sabbath even started in Eden and God himself observed it, they'll run to Heb 7 and say they pay to Jesus directly now through sales agents on earth of course.

When you tell them Heb 7 actually nullified tithes, they'll say it is revelational knowledge and the thing dey work o

Pastor Kun: The way you tithe preachers twist facts to promote your scam is really nauseating. angry The mere fact that William colgate died in 1857 and monetary tithe was not introduced to the church till 1873 gives a lie to your claims. It is a fact that William Colgate was a philantropist and he gave a lot to support seminaries and mission work but his giving was NEVER call a tithe.

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Colgate
Of course he has to lie to promote a doctrine of lies. He doesn't know the early church didn't collect tithes or pay tithes because none of the apostles was a levite.

He doesn't know that tithes didn't get mentioned in Christian circles until 567AD at Tours and finally made Catholic law in 787AD and even then, it was strictly agric products like the Mosaic law.

He doesn't know that even when American evangelicals started it, below 18years and above 65 where exempted.

He doesn't know all these because he must hammer with tithes. His Christianity is determined by his tithe payments.

theoctopus: I am sorry bro. I am a Christian, A believer in Christ Jesus. What matters to me is what the bible says, not what makes you or I feel good. Not what makes human sense, sounds nice or brings results. That something works for you doesn't make it right. Moses struck a rock, water came out, but God was angry with Moses because of it and Moses could not enter the promised land. Right or wrong is not determined by the result. It is determined by what the bible says it is. Remember Jesus said, some will say Lord I did so and so in your name, but he will say, I know you not. He didnt say they were lying. They actually did it in his name. I have advised you to go read Revelation 1-3. It is a direct message from Jesus to the church. It is a message that many of your pastors would not preach because they are afraid, people will leave their churches. It is the bare truth. Many will miss heaven because they are engrossed in a life of materialism and money worship.
Actually, if only they will be honest enough to read the bolded. We keep hearing that it brings results but only pastors and their family and some few brethren have any results to show. One of those who keep screaming tithe brings results has been looking for job for a long time, yet he comes here to lie about how he's sowing so much into the gospel. He forgets his activities online can be tracked grin I pray he gets his job sha so he can rest. It doesn't work for them, but they'll rather continue the charade than admit their gullibility.

They are actually not thinking of heaven at all my bro. Their all is on this earth. That is how you know their focus. Its all materialism and conspicuous consumption. They'll accept any thing called breakthrough even if from the devil.

theoctopus: Please let him tell us why tithes are not mentioned if they are kingdom principles like prayer and fasting. Prayer and fasting and other kingdom principles were clearly mentioned. Is he accusing God of forgetting to mention tithe?

Also, he said the results are very evident in their lives. Ask him if he is richer than Dangote that doesnt tithe? Or bill gates?
Actually my bro, I've been asking them that question in bold since I joined this forum. They have no answer. Even their G.O's pray for their members to work for Dangote.

Kingdom principles ko, kingdom investment ni

Kenyan 28: I said I would come back here with good news, a negative report, and here I am with one, at least for my daughter who is close to 2 years now. Medication has worked on her and I thank God for this perfect gift of mine from heaven. In fact since May she was well with no virus detected in her blood and confirmed many other times. Glory to God. Am working on mine now and.....again some day al have good news. For those who doubt, check on how oxygen works in the body!
This thread by Sirjohn introduced me to nairaland grin

I read every single post and came to understand the mindset of a lot of nairalanders.

God bless you Kenyan. He'll surely perfect that which concerns you as you've decided to put your trust in him alone. Hoping to hear more good news from you.

God bless you and your family

Joagbaje: I want to thank , all the god men who have contributed to this thread . I got caught up in our Reachout Nigeria campaign and planing . It's very obvious that the truth of the word cannot be killed . No matter how much satan try. Gate of hell cannot prevail. One of the ways satan can attack the body of christ is to attack our work of faith, labour of love and our giving . Tithes and offering are not based on the law of Moses . Even though we may use references in the law to buttress some facts. They are kingdom principles along with all others such as fasting and praying and worship.

I'm glad to know that tithers have unshakable faith because the result is very obvious and evident in their lives .
grin grin

Haba Joagbaje, after opening a thread to do an exposition, this is all you can come up with?

Despite all the breakaways from the RCC, its still the biggest church in the world, but that doesn't mean its right or is it? wink answer that to yourself.

Those still being fleeced of their money in the name of tithes abound but the beauty is that many are coming to the knowledge of the truth that God expects freewill giving from them not a levitical percentage and they are blessed because of what Christ did, not what pastors say they should bring.

This thread you opened is proof of that. grin

God bless his word
