Kaiser20: Try use your small brain to reason naa... So it means you don't even know the job of NDLEA at your age. I do know the job of NDLEA. It seems you didn't get my drift. There's no part in the report that says a competent court has issued an order of forfeiture even for the interim. It's still an allegation. You've see government agencies demolition houses and sealing properties just on basis of allegations. Anyway, my main drift is on the media not questioning the right of NDLEA and the bank to freeze an account when an order to do so is not issued by the court. |

baralatie: The case surrounds the importation of tramadol which is under ndlea list of banned substance! And since ndlea took the accused to court.it must prove that the tramadol trade is through the said accounts! And present this to the court as evidence but the account will be transfered to efcc because it is the efcc that has powers to financially lock your act Exactly my point! But you know government agencies and their intimidation tactics. They will just do things as if it's in their power to do so. They don't wait for court orders and even when court give orders it's what they want to do that they will do. My concern is even the newspaper media that's the 4th realm of governance that suppose to be questioning their rights just turn to a mere "see and reporting" system and consequently reinforcing the abnormalities in our governance structure. |

I don't understand the kind of journalism we practice in Nigeria. If NDLEA is freezing someone's account, shouldnt the media be questioning the right NDLEA has to do so rather than just reporting what they did.
Soon, neighborhood watches and Vigilantes will start freezing people's account too if we don't tame the excesses of all these government agencies. |

Ken4Christ: I am so shocked at the ways hackers get easy access to one's phone. Why can't manufacturers produce phones with protective features? Why is our phones so vulnerable to attacks by internet fraudsters to the point that they can delete some of your files.
And we don't have people who can give useful suggestions on how to protect one's phone.
You use VPN, they still bypass it.
You try other apps to block them, they still get access.
Is phone technology getting useless?
The cons seems to outweigh the pros.
I need expert advice.
A leading ministry has sponsored hackers to monitor me for more than 10 years now. Though, I just discovered last year.
They have blocked most of the transactions that would have translated to wealth for over a decade now.
Who can give me useful suggestions? Human factor overrides every great technology! Before hackers would have access to you, you must have left finger prints somewhere! It may be physical or electronically. Think about it! |

They are always late or not reachable They will always be late because they are not situated within 15mins coverage distances. Couple with the hold ups and unnavigable roads in many parts of the country.... So it's very wrong to be attacking them. We are still very backward set of people in Nigeria. Many times I see people not giving up road for Fire/Ambulance services. The society needs to be re-orientated. Even the so called educated ones don't clear roads despite seeing and hearing sirens. |

Gerrard59: While discussing with some buddies yesterday, we touched on the topic “moving back to Nigeria”. I argued that Nigeria is not safe. Sure, there are places that are pretty “safe”. However, my notion of safety is when other people elsewhere can go about their normal activities without fear. For instance, I don’t consider a place safe if one part of the area keeps suffering repeated attacks from Fulani herdsmen (like Southern Kaduna and Plateau). I don’t have to be the affected party, but others who go about their normal activities should feel safe doing them. The other guy countered that, with money, one could enjoy Nigeria. “Live in Maitama, run Lister generator and live quietly.” Also, you get to be in a place where almost everyone looks like you.
Upon hearing “…with money, one can enjoy Nigeria”, I asked him to list five things/ways one can enjoy Nigeria as long as the person has money. Surprisingly, he could not mention one thing/way. I thought it wise to throw it to the house, especially for those who are anti-Japa or those who have stayed abroad for a long time and currently reside in Nigeria.
As someone with money, what exactly does the person enjoy in Nigeria? What are the differences compared to his/her counterpart in say, Namibia or Canada/UK that also has money? How do you enjoy Nigeria provided the money is available?
P.S. I understand that the notion of “enjoyment” is largely subjective. Some enjoy going to parties, while others enjoy travelling around or even reading a book while in a park. But I believe there are some universal notions of enjoyment. For me, the feeling of "forth class citizens" makes me not to totally support "Japa". My stand and preference is to visit and not runaway totally from your base. I've been to many countries of the world and I'm not racist, but when I think about how those developed countries enslaved our fore-fathers. The dis-humanity they meted on them, the chains on their neck and feet, the whip lashings....that alone cannot make my mind to support Japa syndrome. I have all the opportunities to Japa, but with the presence of mind that this is modern day slavery and neo-colonialism at it's best I cannot fully support Japa. Those countries will continue and forever keep us struggling with the support of our elites because they flourish by our people thronging-in. Their plan is to never allow us have an Identity, because with identity comes liberation, and liberation drives development. So they will do all they can directly or indirectly to keep us as a slave. |
Politics › Re: Noise Pollution: Lagos Shuts Quilox Club by CaptainFM1: 10:59am On Dec 26, 2022 |
owobokiri: Nigeria is a place where misfits in government expect people on the streets to know the right thing to do and when to do so without the government putting up requisite measures to help both people and businesses to know their limits even before starting off any venture.
Night clubs are generally situated at places where noise won't be an issue. The place to situate such ventures in Lagos should be designated ab initio by the state government. Appropriate structures and monitoring systems should also be in place to help the businesses conduct themselves appropriately.
But here, you get up one day only to see governments bulldozers demolishing houses and offices that were built with permissions from the same Government. You see establishments being torn down for being at the wrong location and you wonder why the agencies in charge allowed the structure to be erected at the "wrong place" in the first place.. There's a threshold of Noise that is acceptable. I suppose the club exceed that decibel. Moreso, a club is supposed to be sound proof. You see the state clamping down on even churches and mosque for this offence. P Like someone said, ignorant of the law is not a defense. On your question about which should come first...the egg or the chicken? It doesn't matter when a law is passed. If a law is defective right from the start, such law itself can be challenged in a competent court and overturned. In the absence of no court order vacating such law, any flaunting of it whatsoever is an Offence. Many laws generally and all over the world are reactionary to an event/incident. All laws can't be proactively thought off. As much as government will try to be proactive in their laws, a reasonable level of tweaking, and adjustment will be needed as man evolved. Remember, "laws are made for humans, not humans are made for clubs!" |

Politics › Re: The Hidden Treasures Nigerians Are Yet To Discover About Imumolen And His Quest by CaptainFM1: 10:39pm On Dec 25, 2022 |
Afro3: The hidden treasures Nigerians are yet to discover about Imumolen and his quest for presidency
He speaks of his country and the welfare of it's people with a passion reminiscent of the Martin Luther King Jr. civil rights movement in America in the 60s.
King fought for the liberation of the blacks from the oppression of racism, segregation and inequality that was quite rampant in that era. He mobilised his fellow blacks and awakened in them a new consciousness of pride and self-discovery that ultimately gave impetus to the struggle for freedom from all forms of prejudices. Needless to say that he got the white supremacists of that generation to listen to what he had to say. And what he had to say ultimately had a significant impact on the outcome of his concerted fight to rid the black American population of the toga of second class citizens. King did one more thing. He ensured that African Americans earned the same respect, rights and privileges that their fellow white countrymen and women were accorded.
Today, King -- cut down in his prime by assassin's bullets for his seeming audacity -- rests in his grave, supremely satisfied that he achieved exactly his mandate of rescuing his people from the oppression of being discriminated against solely on the basis of the colour of their skin. His labour of love would eventually pave the way for a succession of great black achievers like Andrew Young, Jesse Jackson, Muhammad Ali, Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods, Barack Obama, Eddie Murphy, Sammy Davis Jr., to mention but a few, who have continued to demonstrate that skin colour is insignificant where natural endowments is the yardstick.
King's passion has since found expression in different forms and in different climes decades after. A Nelson Mandela going to jail for 27 years just to make the point that racism and segregation has no place in human equation is one copious example. That Mandela finally succeeded in dislodging the apartheid system in South Africa, and ended up restoring his people to their former pride of place in the power equation in that country was a testimony that good ultimately triumphs over evil.
The Martin Luther King Jr. legacy of quiet revolution continues to inspire many everywhere. In Nigeria, a young man who goes by the name Professor Christopher Imumolen appears to have caught the Martin Luther King Jr. bug. He is fighting a different kind of fight. He is fighting to liberate the Nigerian people from the oppression of inept and corrupt leadership. He is fighting to restore the country to it's former enviable position as the giant of Africa and the pride of the black race. He is fighting to end years of endemic and instutionalised corruption that keeps frustrating the country's efforts at achieving greatness. He is fighting to win back the loyalty of Nigerians who have since lost hope in the face of uninspiring leadership at all levels of government.
He is fighting to restore the lost values and virtues that used to define the uniqueness of the Nigerian as a go-getter and an achiever anywhere he finds himself. He is fighting to bring back the country's lost glory in all aspects of human endeavour. Just like King and Mandela before him, Professor Imumolen knows he is on a long road. But he says he is determined to give all it takes to succeed. He is campaigning with 17 other candidates who are flagbearers of other political parties, all vying for the position of Nigeria's president come 2023.
He is contesting with some persons who can be described as political heavyweights on the Nigerian political space for the country's most exalted political office but he obviously doesn't look intimidated because, according to him, "I have what it takes to be Nigeria's next president. If I didn't believe I could do the job, I won't apply for it," he says confidently. Now, he may be very well educated, having acquired two Ph.D degrees in separate disciplines.
He may own three universities in three different continents of the world. He may have, and still continue to give much of himself to philanthropic endeavours which ensures that millions of Nigerians are empowered to live useful and result-oriented lives. But what probably stands Professor Imumolen out as the candidate with the best credentials to be Nigeria's president is the passion and value he brings to initiating and executing programmes and schemes tailored towards assisting and uplifting the quality of lives of the average Nigerian.
Those who know him say he has given more in the area of humanitarian gestures, in his private capacity, than all his co-aspirants combined. They argue that a man who hasn't been opportuned to serve in government in any capacity, and who gives from monies made from the sweat of his brows, is valued and respected more than those who give from monies made while serving in government.
A man who has used his personal resources to better the lives of Nigerians, irrespective of their tribe, religion and location is a true Nigerian that deserves to be Nigeria's president, they also say. They further say that a man who can give N2million each to help over 500,000 students in Nigeria fulfill their dreams of university education is a man who deserves to be at the level of Nigeria's presidency where he can make policies that would even improve our educational system.
They also add that a man who can use his personal resources to fund the construction of feeder roads, build boreholes and electrify whole communities in Nigeria is one who merits being entrusted with the high office of president where he can do more to touch the larger spectrum of society on a massive scale. These, and more, essentially defines the man called Professor Christopher Irene Imumolen.
He may not be as heralded as an Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, an Abubakar Atiku, a Peter Obi or Rabiu Kwankwaso -- men that Nigerians believe, rightly or wrongly, are more qualified to be Nigeria's president. But beyond the hype which seem to follow them every step of the way on account of their previous stints in office at different levels, Professor Imumolen is man who stands heads and shoulders above them when it comes to offering something new this time around. Professor Imumolen offers a breath of fresh air, a different alternative to what Nigerians have always known and experienced.
Add this to the fact that he is younger, more educated and more versed in the way the modern world conducts the business of government and you'd agree he has more to offer than the motley crowd of opponents he is up against.
These are the qualities Nigerians must diligently seek and identify with if they want to avoid the mistakes of the past in terms of the choices they made. Una go just type lies that can't be proven! Do you know what N2million multiplied by 500,000 students is?
That's N1 Trillion naira. (About $2.4B)If he's philanthropic enough to give that kind of money on education alone,....he should be among the Forbes top 10 richest in Africa. |

Acidosis: One of the reasons I am beginning to avoid road side traders. The so called poor people in Nigeria are even more wicked.
If you need to buy stuff like bag of rice, g.oil, etc., always patronise that big mall around you. They have functional quality control departments. They verify everything before displaying in shelves.
...and more often than not, they offer cheaper prices on almost all items. No room for useless bargains, sizing up of customers, and heartless price increments. Nowadays, the only thing I want to see is price tag and nothing more. You are just like me. I hate it when I enter market and they are pulling my clothes. So I rather go where the pricetag is already on the product. If I have the money I buy. Something strange however happened to me once in one big supermarket ooo. I wanted to buy hangers, and I checked the price on Jumia only to see that the supermarket own come cheap like #800 on each dozen pack. Na so I pick 5packs, on getting to the counter, the woman think say I wan go dey sell hangers ooo. Right there and then at the checking out counter, I hear, na old price, the lady wey suppose change the price forget to change am. Na so this woman go online, check Jumia and Konga for price and change the price for me oooo. Worst still, before I Waka comot for their front 4 pieces of anger don break when I already paid because they've been lying there on their shelf for quite a long time. This kind cheating mentality, na only for Nigeria you go see am. |
