EVEN if it happened one month ago.
Depends on when it becomes public knowledge it becomes news even if it happened five years ago. The time it gets to public knowledge makes it either fresh or stale. All I'm saying is I concur.

BusinessRe: Naira Hits N1,825 To Dollar Despite EFCC Gun Rescue Attempt by CaptainJune: 7:42pm On Feb 20, 2024

Well, he could be God's chosen candidate to punish the nation, cos how else do you explain all these terrible disasters left right and center? The level of corruption and injustice in Nigeria has been so high, it actually may be judgment time. The nation needs to start with repentance.
There was a prophecy given by one I consider a true man of God. In 2023, he said what God showed him would happen under Tinubu administration. I don't need to say everything (it is a nightmare for those who don't know God) but one thing he said that is clearly coming to pass is that the naira will fall to ₦2000/$. The hardship will be unbearably grievous under Tinubu. He said there would be serious hunger in the land that people would resort to cannibalism to survive. Hmm. He said that this would not affect God's children but, my brother, when he gave this prophecy, the naira to the dollar rate was about ₦900/$. Today, there is serious hunger in the land as he said and naira to the dollar rate has hit ₦1,825 to a dollar only ₦175 shy of ₦2000.
BusinessRe: Naira Hits N1,825 To Dollar Despite EFCC Gun Rescue Attempt by CaptainJune: 7:31pm On Feb 20, 2024
When Cardoso floated the naira recently on February 9, this was my reply in the thread:

Your intelligence on the interpretation of this report deserves standing ovation. This is exactly what I highlighted in my previous post here. The dollar is now being auctioned to the highest bidder. That is how auction works. The result: the naira will fall faster and harder than before. I predict ₦4000 to the dollar by June or July this year.
The volatility spike of edging towards supply and demand of the naira is fighting it. It is falling faster than ever because it is being sold aggressively to purchase the dollar.

Where are the lying pastors and church leaders who said Tinubu is God's chosen candidate for the nation? They have all gone silent in shame. Shame.

Prophecy of Tinubu's failed and doomed administration coming to pass right before our eyes. All in less than a year of manipulating his way to the office of the president.

Sex and wealth may buy happiness but not peace. Only God has the monopoly of lasting peace that He gives at ₦0.00.

The simple TRUTH is, things would have been the hardest, worst had it been Peter Obi or Atiku is the President. That's the TRUTH. To be honest, Nigeria is lucky not have made a wrong choice. Thank God for Tinubu.

No pain no gain. Nigerians are not yet ready. Always looking for short cuts to success. All that is happening is only a part of the process that will inevitably lead to a very lasting prosperity but Nigerians are not ready. You think China became a prosperous country over night. Lol grin grin grin grin grin grin
We are in the stage of inflation which is expected and which afterwards things will stabilize. But Nigerians are not ready.
Wait, I just reread this, the bolded. Hahaha. No comment. 😂😂😂🤣🤣

In which textbook or school did you learn that hyperinflation leading to very low per capita income is part of the process that will inevitably lead to a very lasting prosperity? Don't confuse economics with tribalism.

What an elderly man like Pa Adebanjo (Afenifere's leader) saw while sitting the Yoruba people who voted Tinubu (not all of them voted him) could not see it while standing. Time has proven his wisdom to be sharp as spear.

Note: I will never be glad that even my enemy is going through pain much less people of any specific tribe so don't see my statement as rubbing salt on wound. I have only stated the obvious.

RomanceRe: BUHARI VS TINUBU: Things Are Cheaper Under Tinubu Than Buhari (See How) by CaptainJune: 6:54pm On Feb 19, 2024
iLegendd:
I'm not cheerful about it. Things are cheaper now (but sound bigger in price). The people are poorer to be able to afford those cheap things. That's just the situation on ground. We just want the govement to increase minimum wage/everyone's salary by 200% and the country should focus on production, instead of too much importation.
"Things are cheaper" is a subjective perspective on the seemingly endless currency exchange rate crises on ground.

I absolutely concur with you on the highlighted. That is the goal to strike a balance amidst the current economic decline and hyper-inflation.
PoliticsRe: I Want Asylum, I Don’t Want This Country Again by CaptainJune: 2:40pm On Feb 19, 2024
Someone who survivied Buhari's 8 years of hardship is seeking asylum under Tinubu's 7 months of hardship. This tells you hardship get levels.

RomanceRe: BUHARI VS TINUBU: Things Are Cheaper Under Tinubu Than Buhari (See How) by CaptainJune: 1:33pm On Feb 19, 2024
jargonzboi:
It's true.

Things are cheaper "in dollars" now.

That's because the dollar is overpriced compared to naira.
(No thanks to those who are sabotaging the exchange rate and profiting from it.)

But Nigerians are dumb and shallow-minded. Comprehension is far from them.
Some who can even comprehend will rather attack the person or dismiss the message if they feel you're not in support of their favorite.

But add to the calculation for better understanding.
Present it in the dollar rate.

For example;
- The water dispenser cost 52k in 2020. At exchange rate of 480/$; that's $108.3
- This year it is selling for 133k, at exchange rate of 1,650/$; that's $80.6

Also the small phone cost about $12.5 dollars then.
Today you can buy it for $6.36 in Nigeria.

Isn't that cheaper?
You see that the OP was right.

P.S: I'm apolitical. Don't give a fcck about the mudafckers in politics today or any of you guys favorites. We are our own problem and they all know this.
As a quote currency falls the base currency becomes stronger. USDNGN in this case. If the dollar is cheaper during Tinubu's administration than it was in the previous one then the current administration is under performing. Op, it isn't something to be cheerful since it shows that the country is bleeding profusely.
PoliticsRe: Boko Haram: 500 detained suspects released in Borno by CaptainJune: 7:52pm On Feb 15, 2024
All the soldiers who lost their lives fighting this menace, the innocent in their thousands who were brutally sent to their graves by this people only for the government to pardon them and release them back into the society on the basis of an oath that has no legal or punitive substance. What a nation.

PoliticsRe: FG Can’t Continue To Subsidise Electricity — Power Minister, Adebayo Adelabu by CaptainJune: 9:39pm On Feb 14, 2024
Is it a crime to allow competition? Are Nigerians not paying their electricity bills? More than 60 years of darkness and scarce power supply with continual hikes in tariff only to blame subsidy. What has subsidy got to do with power generation?

PoliticsRe: Northern Youths Burn Nigerian Flag, Lament Northerners Feeding On Leaves Under T by CaptainJune: 7:42pm On Feb 14, 2024
I feel for people going through worsened hardship under Tinubu. A president who subjects his people to untold hardship while promising light at the end of the tunnel does not know what it is to be a leader.
HealthRe: Why The Current Heat Wave Is Very Deadly by CaptainJune: 2:10pm On Feb 14, 2024
I have been scouting for a topic like this on nairaland that acknowledges the deadly heat wave experienced yesterday and that has continued till today. It was terrible (first of its kind in Nigeria). The epileptic power supply worsens the situation. Yesterday was a sign that global temperatures have risen drastically.

Calm down. He is expressing his dislike for the APC government through sarcasm. He, like every well-meaning Nigerian, knows that Nigeria deserves a much better leader than Tinubu.

Another Tinubu ass licker.

You float the Naira to the death of millions of Nigerians from starvation. You float the Naira but millions of Nigerians die for that; what's in your head?
Economic planning is about bettering the lives of citizens.
I deliberately refrained from responding to that person you quoted. It hasn't dawned on him yet because he is still quoting from the scripts his mega rich APC lords distributed to their impoverished and hunger-stricken followers to support and justify their suffering (supporters).

You guys don't really know the mess Nigeria is in at the moment.

If you guys truly want change then we must have one voice and call for revolution
Perish the thought. Igbos and (a small section of the Yorubas) did not put Nigeria into this mess. Those who voted him in should vote him out if they are serious.
CrimeRe: Lagos Housewife Stabbed To Death by CaptainJune:
You know the Nigerian scenario where two parties in a dispute or disagreement threaten each other's lives, and one decides to make good the threat. This is a scene that boasts of daily repetition. Now, neither of them will have unrestrained access to water anymore. One is dead while the other will transition full time from a free woman to a permanent jail tenant. Listen, walk away. There is no glory in bickering or fighting except sob story.

Seun will go on Twitter and play the dummy neutral guy and even side with the main opposition to deceive people his forum isn't for APC.
Nairaland has descended way lower than the value of the naira to the dollar. This thread being on the frontpage is undeniable proof.

edit

I went through the Op's posts and made sense of this thread when aligned to context. He is actually being sarcastic. He is trying to mock those who may unrepentantly wish to vote Tinubu after his current tenure expires despite the brutal economic hardship being experienced all over the country.

YEs. That 8 years is ours. The economy is only toughening us. We shall get acustomed to it soon.
8 years, Then power back to north
Wasn't the economy toughening you during Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari's administrations? It is during Tinubu's that you suddenly developed exercise mentality towards his harsh policies. This is not loyalty speaking. It is bias and ethnocentrism in display.
