How We Spoilt The Greatest Rivalry in Football My major problem with Ronaldo fan-boys is that they will not allow us to give Ronaldo his much deserved respect in peace. He is one of the greatest to ever play the game and he is a legend on his own and in his own right. Ronaldo is a phenomenon and he would’ve been someone we will always love to compare with/to Messi. But his fans went and spoilt everything simply because they will not accept reality. It hurts me to watch my fellow Messi fans insult and disrespect Ronaldo on social media just to prove a point to the delusional Ronaldo fans. We all know how Ronaldo fans always wanted to discredit Messi and tout him up as only a Barcelona legend. But even after proving them wrong and winning the Copa America and Finalisima with Argentina, the Ronaldo fan-boys still try to find another excuse to either discredit the trophies or understate Messi’s contributions to the victories. Another way the Ronaldo fan-boys try to discredit Messi is by making outrageous and pathetic claims about Messi’s Balon D’ors. I will not want to put down my research here because I am not a sporting expert and most people will not even want to read a long post, but I did my research after getting fed up with Ronaldo fan-boys whining about Messi winning the 2021 Balon D’or ahead of Lewandoski (that’s a topic for another day) and I discovered that Messi actually deserved every single Balon D’or (and every other award) he ever won. But the most pathetic of all Ronaldo fan-boys’ delusions came after Messi won the World Cup. This is where they shot themselves in the foot, and I am not even talking about their pathetic cry that the world cup was rigged to favour Messi. Realising that Messi is now clearly ahead of the Legend Ronaldo, forgetting that in every rivalry there is always a winner, they now try to undermine his status as the best in the sport by bringing in Pele and Maradona; but in doing so, not only did they make it easier for Messi to be confirmed as the so-called GOAT of football, they also unknowingly took the Great CR7 out of the competition. Now Messi is compared only to Pele and Maradona and not CR7 anymore. So Ronaldo is no longer even a competition. It just spoils all those years of rivalry for me. I wanted to tell my kids that I lived in the era of the rivalry between the two greatest to ever play the game, but now I can’t. The three greatest now played in three different eras. This hurts me beyond words. |
I love Rugby. if there is one sport I would wish to do, it will be Rugby. So happy for South Africa. |
Oboy THIS YASSINE GUY HAS THE BEST JOB IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD. |
I can't wait. Messi doesn't really need another Balon D'or, but since we deserve it, who are we to say no? If Haaland eventually wins it, though, I will be very happy for him. But we all know who deserve it. Shout out to everybody who loves football. |
This is my favourite sport in the world and it hurts me to always remember that Nigeria doesn’t really value or love it. For me it is one sport that embodies everything athletism. Congratulations to The Springboks, to South Africa and to Siya Kolisi. |
I have always prayed to marry (that is if I eventually do get married) a a reasonable woman. i know I got some issues (which I am working on) and I just wish to get a person who can be dependable and will be reasonable in most circumstances. Nigerians always put it this way: girl wey go give me peace of mind. it should be Us together facing the world, not Us against each other. |
Greenfaces:I know. I have no problem with God. I love 'Him.' What I despise is religion. The present Religions are an insult to God. |
Greenfaces:‘God’ is really the most merciful. ‘He’ hives rain and sunshine to both Muslims, Christians, Bubhist and Taoists alike. ‘He’ doesn’t discriminate; unlike ‘His’ religions. Christianity discriminates. Islam discriminates. Budhism, Taoism and all the rest discriminates. And I am not even talking about the people; I am talking about the gods or doctrines in those religions. But I am an honest searcher of truth though. If I find ‘God’ in Islam (or any other religion at all), I will search for ‘Him’ and give ‘Him’ my all if ‘He’ deserves my love and respect. BUT I WILL NOT SERVE ANY GOD OUT OF FEAR. |
Chidolalar:Yep! They are historical facts, alright, but did you notice the remaining part of that statement? The stories were embellished; whether deliberately or not, and sometimes so outrageously that the only thing that could accommodate that is either extreme gullibility or blind faith in some divine ‘anointing’. David was a real historical figure. But his story was embellished just to promote him as some divinely chosen king. This is to ensure the continuation of his dynasty. Abraham was a real figure. His story too was embellished by Moses and his successors to promote the crazy idea that the Israelites are some specially chosen race. And it worked; in fact, it is still working. Even in modern days people still do that. Ask Nazi Germany or Fascist Italy or Imperial Japan. Even black slaves in America tried to embellish stories about Africa so they can feel special during their slavery. Those stories make them feel special and help them have some hope. Every culture does the same thing; even in Nigeria. Tinubu supporters will want you to believe that Tinubu is some special kind of person. Buhari supporters did and are still doing the same. Of course, history is written by the conquerors; you will not expect them to write anything less. It is up to you now to decide if you want to swallow those stories hook, line and sinker, or you will use your head. |
Greenfaces:Honestly I would not want to be the person to destroy another man’s faith, because that is one thing that give people the hope for the future. I am also not a man who will live my life in fear of some kind of retribution from some vengeful god. But if there is a hell; then I have seen it here already. I see people going through all kinds hell here on earth right now. And if there is a heaven; I am living some form of it now already. There is no heaven better than taking charge of your life, loving someone and having someone love you and also making someone’s life a little bit better. I do not fear the future or the afterlife, if there is any. And when I get there, I will want to be proud of the fact that I lived my life here and now in honest truth to my conscience according to my own dictates. |
I love Korea. |
and he is supposed to be the minister of youth. what a joke. i wish him well though. |
Greenfaces:Greenfaces, I respect and envy the fact that Islam gives you peace and assurance. But I have read through two [English] versions of the Qur’an and, if I am being candid, (I have never said this to anyone; not even to the second half of my family who are Muslims), I think Islam is a joke. I do not mean to troll. Islam is way too petty to be from any true God. If the Qur’an is to be scrutinized half as much as the Bible was, it will not last a single more minute in any enlightened person’s library. Even the various Hadiths are more significant because they can, at least, have some historical as well as literary value. But I LOOOOVE Islamic culture. The calligraphy, the poetic recitations, the ‘Umma’ thing and the hajj. Islamic doctrine, Though is still the most petty religious doctrines I know. Mohammed actually did a great job uniting the Scattered and warring Arab clans into one Nation. He is a cultural hero, and I respect that about the man, but nothing more. I understand why he felt the need to use the GOD factor to bring them together, and I expect people in this 21st century to understand that too. ‘GOD’ was only a uniting factor and Mohammed rode on that knowledge to unite his people and give the Arabs their most Valuable and lucrative international export. |
Chidolalar:Hey! I still read the Bible every day. It is an Historical and Literary goldmine. I think God cannot be discovered from any book. He is within us. He is our all in all; as Paul says: in Him we live, move and have our being. When I say ‘I now see it as all lies’, I mean that I do not accept all those stories on angels, demons, devils, ‘prophets’, heavens, hells, and miracles as Truth. I see them the same way I see the stories of Shiva, Zeus, Superman, Tom&Jerry or King Arthur. They are simply historical facts that were embellished by a particular culture just so they can enforce and promote some form of morality and order using GOD as an anchor. |
Dude! Have we met Before? You just described me to the very last punctuation. But I have learnt to just be me. Stray true t you. You are my twin, bro. |
Honestly, I’ve got two, at least. The first one is religion. Sorry I am not trying to be rude, but I was so much into religion and all. I believed everything Bible back then. In fact, by the age of nine, I’ve read the Bible back to back twice in two different languages. I really wanted to be a Pastor. But now I see it as all lies. The second thing I now hate is gender wars. Even as a child, I always saw it as healthy competition. But now, it has become something else. We now seem to be promoting hate against the other gender. The thing is even putting me off social media. |
Bro, it is very normal. It only shows You can think for Yourself. I have studied the entire Bible countless times. I have been an ardent and a serious Christian for years. I still LOVE the Bible and I enjoy everything Christian. I study the Bible everyday and I LOVE Hillsongs and Casting Crowns and Jmoss. I will sing worship songs every day with tears in my eyes. In fact, I always love having Hillsongs playing while I sleep in the night. But, I do not believe anything in the Bible. I love the raphsody and the euphoria of worship songs. I don't pray, except to thank the Universe (God, if you like) for existence and all the good things of life. Nature is my god. Science is my religion. Humanity is my faith. |
Dude! Stop spreading negativity. Yes! People doing less or worse than us will always make us feel luckier, but that doesn’t mean we actually want them to fail or be worse off than we are. Guy, clean your evil mind abeg; Your own na witchcraft |
I have always told those who cared to listen that why relationships nowadays are hard is simply because one half of the relationship circle is only looking for some ass, and the other half is only looking for a catch. We do not value people any more; we only value cruise!!!!!! |
Glory2DLamb:Yo! It is not about being a nazirite. It is about the fact God himself was never against men leaving long hair or plaiting it. Even apostle Paul in his admonition about hair says he’s only speaking from his own personal view, not from the spirit. Hair or no hair, to plait or not to plait is a purely cultural thing. Let’s stop this hypocrisy of tying spiritual matters to unnecessary cultural and personal things |
A man Plaiting his hair is not wrong Biblically. Samson plaited his hair into seven locks. Other Nazerites left their hair to grow long and so it is reasonable to assume they plaited their hair, at least periodically. Some nazerites in the Bible includes Samuel the prophet and John the baptist. Some others made a vow and a requires demands that you leave your hair uncut until |
I have heard this rumours a lot, but, for the love of me, common sense, makes me doubt the rumours. I never really believed it. And I also do not believe Tiv women are mostly prostitutes. Though the number of the uneducated among Tiv women is alarming; prostitution is a thing common to all people. I have seen a lot of chaste Tiv women. |
I so not believe in life after death. I do not believe in spirits, ghosts and magic. They may all be real, but I do not really think too much about things like that. All I know is that "All Men Must Die". What after happens after death should be a topic for after we are dead. For now, I just want to first Live before I die. |
BentizilL:Hey! Thanks for this. I want to give my story when the time is right. But for now, I just converted my memoir into a book that will be released very soon. I went through hell in my first stint in the university and I was forced to drop out. Now I am rebuilding myself from scratch on my own. But You will here me someday |
Life has no definite manual. We learn on the job here. Just live Your life and enjoy every moment of it. But one truth I learnt is that it is in Your thirties that You will begin to be aware of the reality of Your mortality. Because this is when You actually begin to realize that You can never really go back again. You only really get older from here. This is when You either learn to accept who You are or the mid-life crisis will only get worse. By accepting who You are, I mean: Your hairline is never getting better, it will only recede further back from here on. Your skin is never getting any more smoother or softer than You would like, Your meager N30 or N50 salary will no longer support the reality You want for Yourself, You are no longer comfortable with mere handouts anymore because earning some respect suddenly becomes more important to You than whether or not You have eaten. etc. But it is also the time You will actually learn to be free and accept life. So enjoy Your life. This is advice from a 32 year old failed man who is just about to start the university. |
God, I love this. This is beautiful. I love the Igbo culture. It is very vibrant. Although it is mostly built and is "overdependent" on materialism, it is still a proud and beautiful culture. Igbo culture to the world. Yoruba and Hausa language to the world. Tell me why I should not be proud to be Nigerian. |
I don't get it. Why do people listen to heartbreak songs When they are heartbroken. Instead of listening to something joyful so you can forget Your predicament, You are choosing to something that will worsen it. Humans are funny wallahi. |
