Any reason as to why solar cannot be used?

From my own experience with use of LFP, I have not been able to successfully wake up any pack that the BMS has shut down due to deep discharge. Once the battery shuts off, the MPPT CC input is somewhat compromised. Using a CC requires an initial input of the correct voltage from the battery so that it initializes to a default 12v, 24v or 48v battery input. Then every other thing including the ability to charge falls into place.

Once the battery input is compromised, it tends to shut off charging output by limiting the current from the panels. That's for CCs that have that kind of battery disconnect protection. At least I know that for PowMr.

uche393:
I saw this on Facebook, e really shock me o.

Oh boy! House don nearly burn ńa.

The fault seems to be a short in the panel output wires as can be seen from the burnt tracks. The panels nearest to the wire also got parts burnt.

With such number of panels, the current coming out of it will be massive such that a short in the output wires could be disastrous. I can only imagine what the volts will do to a person who touches the output from those array when it is pumping out on sunny days.

Pls how legit are these products? I want to buy either one of them...am a first timer so I have never bought anything on AE...

You only showed us the cost price. Are you sure everything you'll pay is that 29k? Better look further down the page ó, there you will see the cost price which may be around 80k.

If it is free shipping or negligible shipping cost, then it may not be so legit.

Better still, check the ratings of the seller, the reviews other buyers gave him on this item and also how many years (or months) he has been trading on AE.

Happy Sunday
Did you see my follow up comment? If you didn't this is the link: https://www.nairaland.com/5266068/thread-only-aliexpress-shopper/984#115426267

I want to ask you a question;
If the price of shipping is been added to the items you intend to purchase (which I'm not arguing is not done, I believe it is) would you pay an outrageous amount for an item you know isn't worth the price? What I'm trying to say... if you follow that link above, you'll see a screenshot for an item that cost $1.20 and DHL shipping cost is N25000.

Let do a little math, let say the seller offers free DHL shipping having in mind (from what you said) the seller will bargain with DHL split the bills (settling DHL) then keep the rest.... Now if the seller was to add the original DHL shipping price of N25000 to the $1.20 item, would you buy the item?

People have laid their frustration and worry here of how sellers offer free DHL and after transactions, item never came or the tracking number issued was fake or it belonged to someone else and when seller was contacted a new tracking number was issued or seller never responded.

Anyway someone asked for advice, I decided to help out with the best of knowledge I've gathered from these thread, it's left for folks to pick or leave. I can only say the negative testimonies of using free DHL shipping out weighs the positives 10-1.

Please do well to check the link and answer the questions thank you.

I agree with what you posted up here. That is why I gave the caveat "not entirely true" in my post.

If a seller offers free DHL on a 15 usd item, I'll pass. This is because 15 usd cost price isn't even likely to bring it to Nigeria via DHL in the first instance, so does it mean that the seller is giving out the item for free?

As per the other part of free DHL being real in some instances, I recall when I got a gate opener from a seller, he had two different adverts of the same item in his store. Then, the dollar was still around 350 naira. First advert gave 45k cost price, 66k FedEx shipping. The second advert gave 119k cost price, free FedEx shipping. Note that the second one is 8k more than the total of the first advert even though it is tagged free FedEx shipping; and from the same seller ó.

In both scenarios painted (yours or mine), due diligence is key because I could have paid more to that seller if I jumped on the "Free FedEx shipping" tag.

Hello guys, anyone knows how to wake up a lithium that has been left idle and unused for more than 5 years?

If the BMS is still functional, the cells may still be protected from discharge below what is expected. In this case, introducing an AC charger or BRIEFLY connecting it in parallel with another pack of similar voltage may wake it up. Note that "briefly" because massive current will be moving from the charged pack into the pack you intend to wake up if left for longer period.

You likely cannot wake it up with solar charge. If all fails and you are a little bit handy, you may have to open up the pack, disconnect the BMS first, then test the voltages on the individual cells to see which is till within rescucitable volt. Then charge them individually (4.2v charger for Li-ion, 3.2v charger for LFP) till full.

After they are full, disconnect the charger and leave them for about two to three days to check the idle discharge. At the end of 4 to 5 days, any cell that still retains the nominal voltage (depending on Li-ion or LFP) is still very much around/viable.

What are they doing beside passing bills to help private individuals achieve this? There is this green energy incentive in some countries such as rebates, and discounts to lower the cost of a solar installation.

@bolded is exactly what happens in decent countries where their leaders are not dealers that see the citizens as goldmines for money to keep funding their (politicians') avaricious lifestyles the way it is run in Nigeria.

Okay. They only passed a bill that is long overdue, much like passing a bill in 2022 empowering Nigerians to sink boreholes for household water supply, something that has been happening for ages.

The more sinister approach this time around which Nigerians need to be wary of, is that the senate/Nigerian politicians are trying to colour efforts of Nigerians at sourcing their own power supply with a paint of legitimacy for now. In the nearest future, they will bring another bill to tax the operators of private power supplies (possibly including private home solar installations) and when you try to cry foul at the wickedness, they point you to the point in recent history when a bill was passed allowing you to operate same.

"So tell us why we can now not pass a bill taxing you for operating such", they'll say.

This is what it looks like to me.

My apologies for bringing this up again as I believe it must have been settled as we always do. Once a while on this thread, the monsters in us manage to creep out grin but one thing that stands out is that we always thrash things out amicably and then the monsters creep back in until it's another time to rock and roll.

Truth be told, I'd have argued that I've never had a war of words with @truthbetold if the pages were not referred to as evidences and I was amused going thru my posts on those referenced pages. A weakness is that I don't easily recollect things like that. In one AliExpress thread like that, an inquiry of importance was made by a user who had literarily "abused" me many pages back, I'd already quoted him and posted the helpful reply to his inquiry before the username rang a bell and I recalled the incident. Of course I resisted the urge to delete my helpful post.

All what I'm trying to say is that we learn everyday and I have again pick a few things which I already know before now

First is that as long as we are users of it, the Internet provides a vast repository and references of our footprints.

Second is that it's wise that we are quite mindful of our interactions thru this medium much the same way we will do in real life scenarios. Although a little difference is that on the internet, we can still manage to go back and edit/undo what we have posted; that is if our village people have not prompted other users to screenshot the original post or quoted it grin

Third is that a recipient(s) of our unsavoury actions on the Internet and with such incontrovertible evidences provided by it, has the right and discretion to pay us back in our own coins, or not.

Fourth is that I have been away from this thread for almost 3 weeks and have missed the interactions. And the first read after my last post here ńa war of words I jam. grin grin

I know today isn't Sunday, permit me to preach to you.......

You know, when Jesus told his disciples to go into towns and spread the good news, he instructed them to bless the towns that welcomes them and whoever rejects them.... they should dust their feet and leave.

Now I need you to take note of @Bolded cuz that's what you'll do when next you login to AE. Dust your feet and say farewell to the seller and his product.

It is worth nothing that there's no free shipping under DHL or FedEx. None of these shipping lines offer free shipping on AliExpress. Any free shipping under the guise of DHL or FedEx is a scam.

This is not entirely true. The fact is that every seller has different prices for the same item. So that a seller writes "free shipping" against an item doesn't mean that the shipping is free, even with the usual AESS, Cainiao etc etc. It only means that the shipping fees (which may be negligible in the case of the latter) has as a marketing strategy been added to the cost price of the item. So as a buyer, you're drawn more to items with "free shipping".

DHL shipping may be "free", but the truth is that the shipping price has been added to the cost price which will be increased. You pay the seller that cost price, he deducts the shipping fees and pays DHL or FedEx as the case may be, then he keeps his cost price on the item.

This however does not rule out some sham sellers which put "free" against items to draw buyers but in reality they are fake. This happens both with DHL and other regular shipping methods.

Fucklove:
Shipping fee is determined by the seller and not the company. Even the free shipping we see is not actually free as everything is already added to the item cost, all part of marketing strategy cool

Thank you. I keep saying this, but readers already believe to the contrary.

This seller has refused to ship my order. I only get generic response on the chat. Sadly I can't dispute the item for a refund. Could it be I am dealing with a crooked seller and how can I get my refund? It's been two weeks since the order was confirmed.

I had a similarly terrible encounter with a seller. He even gave a speedaf tracking number to the supposedly shipped item. Three days after shipping, the system is yet to update the tracking info and instead telling me that the number could not be found on the system. I again clicked on the item and discovered that it was "unavailable"/or out of stock in his store. I at once suspected foul play. Sadly, I can't open dispute until 10 days after shipping. Even when 10 days clocked, I was still barred from opening dispute but instead got a response that "I can open dispute only if tracking info does not update within 15 days. Haba! A number that is even fake and hasn't updated for 12 days. So it was a rather annoying 20 days wait.

I contacted the seller about three times within two weeks telling him that I suspected he played foul and nicely asking him if he would like me to file for dispute or if he would preferably send the item proper. It is as if I was chatting with a non-entity. I got zero response, yet the messaging system showed that the seller was active at least within three hours of my sending messages to him. One day the seller came on board and "cancelled the order". Like WTF!

Long story short, I didn't wait for the 25 harrowing days to end. I chatted up custocare and gave my evidences. I won the dispute and in less than 48 hours got my GTB account credited with the funds. A day after, he then read all my accumulated messages and gave one yèyẹ́ apology.

These are not Nigerians but all originally Nigeriens that are claiming to be Nigerians. They or their ancestors were able to get access into the country thru the porous northern borders.

Buhari is a Nigerien, the reason why his loyalty lies fully with Niger Republic. And more reason why he decided to use Nigerian tax payers monies to buy SUVs for the Nigerien government.

Atiku too has been declared to be a Cameroonian. So we know where he loyalty may lie in the future.

What again is the name of the Zamfara bandit warlord with a bounty of 5 million naira on his head by Police in Katsina state but was few days ago turbaned Sarkin Fulani in Zamfara state?

To add insult to injury, a police DIG was in attendance during the turbaning ceremony. Meanwhile, the Katsina state police said that they do not have jurisdiction to arrest him in Zamfara where he resides. Yet the Nigerian government argues that the NPF is administered centrally from Abuja.

The Fulani government spin lies to cover their tracks, but the annoying thing is that these are not intelligent lies that even a 5 year old will see thru. Yet they say these things with so much audacity that you will wonder if what they have in their skulls is brain matter.

The minister of Finance fir instance, claimed to have used millions (can't recall how much right now) of taxpayers to feed school children during covid lock down. So in effect, she claims to have fed ghost children studying in school at a time that they were actually at home with their parents because of covid lockdown. Now her recent gaffe is that Nigerians have no right to condemn Buhari for using 1.5 billion naira of Nigerian money to buy Toyota SUVs for Niger Republic government because according to her, such illegal spending is at the president's discretion.

No wonder they kicked out Adeosun and replaced her with this current saw dust head.

This is nonsense. I suspect the cameraman in the technical department of the church of conspiracy. If you noticed, the field of view of the camera shifted sideways and away from full glare of the perpetrators dispossesing the pastor. Not much evidence as per identification of the perps can be made from the footage.

And while it may hold true that while he was trying to lay down on the instructions of the perps, his body may have unwittingly knocked the camera field of view sideways, he will definitely be amongst those to be questioned by the police in the course of investigations once this footage is seen.

Either On-grid or off-grid solar inverter electricity is not the solution to the power problem we have in Nigeria, Solar has some limitations and it depends on sunlight, Solar power is suppose to be a backup and not a main source of power, How will you power your AC, HEATER, FREEZERS at NIGHT when there is no sunlight or Rainy days. If you run these heavy loads on heavy duty inverter and battery backup, I bet you, your battery will not last 6month lifespan.
Just like someone said why is it that our leaders are using MANTRAC, MIKANO etc. The reason is because of its limitations.
The solution is for our government to fix the current power problems we are facing in these country with our rich resources.

Sir, you can comfortably run those things you mentioned on solar. The limitation is usially funds. If you have enough money to get systems that handle those loads, you can run them overnight. There are batteries that have been designed to last 10 years or more. And battery technology is advancing everyday.

As per solar being best as back up, I agree with you partially. In the current Nigeria system, small households with modest appliance should be encouraged to go green and the way the government can do this is to give interest free loans to household that intend to tow that part, payable over the course of 20 years. With 200k, households can get modest systems that powers their TV, lighting, Decoder and mobile phone charging.

The main grid should then be reserved for industrial and factory services until such time that the government has been able to add more power to the grid, then they can begin to add households that have interest in hooking up to the grid in addition to their solar back up.

In Europe and the US, households that have solar and generate excess of unused solar energy are encouraged to join a program that feeds that excess back into the municipal power supply (like the national grid in Nigeria) and those families either get paid for putting power into the grid or they get tax returns to a specified amount based on how much energy they put into the grid.

If you decide to buy electric vehicle, there is a subsidy of almost 10,000 usd from the government that you are entitled to. So you get to buy the car at discounted price. There are also some number of free kilowatts charging that you are entitled to before you begin to pay for charging.

These are ways to encourage adoption of alternative energy and reduce the pressure on national grids.

No sir. Solar is addictive. So I generate more than enough for my basic needs and also feel I can use the excess to get myself some luxury.

Also installations of those things are DIY (Automatic gate, Sliding doors, fountain etc). So they didn't cost me so much. I drew out the plans and contracted out the construction (which I also personally supervised to my own specifications), then the installations too were supervised myself.

For instance when the gate was done 4 years ago, the prospective installer charged me 500k excluding hotel/accommodation fees. This is aside from the machine which I purchased for 120k and the gate (250k). Ńa so I kúkú watch you tube videos, got an affordable Bricklayer to do the cement jobs and I closely supervised the dude every little details and every step of the way. The guy charged me their usual daily workmanship of 6k per day for 4 days. So I saved more than 500k cheesy

I hope to get away with that too with the elevator. grin grin

For this, sorry. That 73usd is already counted against you for the month. So you have 27usd left to spend. You'll have to wait another month to get your 100usd reset.

It is so bad that if your payment went thru, but by a stroke of bad luck the AE system has some glitch and declares your order as "awaiting payment", and you're lucky to get your refund soon enough, that initial payment is already counted against you.

If someone on 5 days clearing is getting agitated and sees mine on 10 days, he'll know that his is not the worst and once I follow up with good news, he also will know that there is hope.

So don't think I don't know why is going on. Yesterday I just won a dispute that I opened last week. Item has been with NIPOST (Accepted by local delivery company) for over 40 days and nearing purchase protection expiry in 20 days. Neither did I worry, nor did I break a sweat. So this isn't the first time I'm dealing with NIPOST ọ̀gá.

Clearly you're the one that is worried and your unguarded response is simply a way to vent the frustration on us, which as a form of defence mechanism is a natural reaction. Where you got it wrong is that you should have tried as much as possible not to vent it out because among the recipients of your anger, there are people that may even have bigger challenges than you think you have, so what do you want them to do, bring out a knife and start slashing peeps for asking questions?

Transference is an entanglement we should try to avoid. Managing to help others even when you clearly have your own problems to deal with is a big sign of maturity and emotional intelligence. I think we should all try to inculcate this.

Wàhálà for who get "custom clearing" galore.

This stage used to be the least of my worries, well except if it's phones or other mobile gadgets, but I just opened the tracker to follow up now and was shocked to see items having 8 days into customs clearing, something that used to be 2 days or 3 days.

Did I miss the memo? When did this nonsense start?
