Jobs/VacanciesRe: I Wasn't Recommended For An Entry Level Bank Job For Living In An Area Of Lagos by cevek11: 4:37pm On Jul 15, 2015
So because he asked you where you stay...?

How sure are you that you answered the other questions well?

You last sentence tells me you didn't...

My advice, get on google and research interview questions and the best answers... You should see what went wrong...

Iamtosin:
With heart and eyes filled of tears I write this and I want everyone to learn from my experience

I passed the bank's entry level test last year November, I wrote another test this year Feb, then I passed, scaled through the first interview and also the second interview which was a panel interview.

I then got called to come for a final one which was a chat with the group head.

From our conversation I knew I was going to have a problem with the man. I never knew he was a deeper life man. I was neatly dressed with nice hair cut. At the end of our conversation when he asked which area of lagos I stay and I told him, his countenance changed and told me 'you can go' without the conventional 'do you have any questions for us'

Few minutes ago, I got a message that I wasn't recommended after all what I sacrificed for this job. I will never forget this experience and I think I will always hate anyone that bears this man's name

Science/TechnologyAn Alarming New Way To Steal Your Passwords by cevek11(op): 1:54pm On Apr 24, 2015
At a restaurant, you pull out your phone to check email. Without even thinking about it, you tap in a PIN to unlock your phone. Your back’s to the wall and nobody can see what you’re typing, so there’s no reason to worry that somebody could intercept your passcode.

Except, sadly, there is. Researchers at Syracuse University have demonstrated that hackers can guess PINs by analyzing video of people tapping on their smartphone screens -- even when the screen itself isn’t visible. Software used to analyze such video relies on “spatio-temporal dynamics” to gauge the distance from the fingers to the phone’s screen, and then approximate which characters the fingers tap on a keypad. “It’s like lip reading,” says Vir Phoha, an engineering and computer science professor at Syracuse and co-author of a paper on the technology. “Based on hand movement and the known geometry of the phone, we can see which keys are pressed.”

There don’t appear to be any known instances of hackers stealing PINs this way, but technologists think it’s only a matter of time. “We believe that it is very likely to be adopted by adversaries who seek to stealthily steal sensitive private information,” Phoha and three others Syracuse researchers wrote in their paper, published last year by the Association for Computing Machinery. The technology is fairly simple for anybody familiar with programming, and the exploding use of smartphones provides many millions of targets.

On top of that, the increased use of phones for banking and managing other financial accounts makes PINs a lucrative prize for hackers.

There are limits to such image-analysis technology. It’s harder to detect PINs when people type them with two fingers rather than one, for example. The use of a full keyboard instead of a 10-character phone-style keypad makes it harder still, as does the use of capital letters and symbols that aren’t on a 10-character pad. And fingerprint validation in lieu of a PIN solves the whole problem, even though it’s available on only a small portion of smartphones at the moment, and not at all on ATMs and other gadgets requiring PINS.

As always, countermeasures will ensue if unseen PIN hacking were to grow into a major problem. Smartphone makers could create keypads that appear in different locations on the screen every time, foiling pattern-recognition algorithms that rely on consistent spatio-temporal dynamics. Keypads that jumble the 10 numerals in a different random order during each use might also do the trick, though they could also drive users crazy and encourage them to ditch the passcode because it’s too much trouble.

Meanwhile, protecting yourself against sneaky PIN hacking wouldn’t be difficult, once you know what to do. Keeping your phone completely out of sight when entering a PIN or other sensitive data is the most obvious step. Newer iPhone and Android devices allow you to choose a longer, more complex alphanumeric passcode over a simple 4-digit one (although typing it in can be a pain). And practicing good security—by using two-factor authentication, password-tracking apps and so on—helps improve security and speed the notification time if somebody has infiltrated your accounts. It’s probably safe to assume somebody is always watching. Sooner or later, they will be.

HealthWhat Is The Toilet Seat And Do You Us It? by cevek11(op): 5:57pm On Apr 13, 2015
Entering into a male public restroom, I saw urine on the ceramic seat. I thought to myself "some people are just dirty and inconsiderate. Why can't they put down the rubber/plastic cover with a hole in it". At least, this ensures pee will not get to the ceramic that people put their buttocks on. Now wanting to report this, I googled to get the name of that 'plastic' and got a shocker revelation shocked...

The plastic is called the 'toilet seat'. I didn't believe the results so I started asking and some people say they always sit on it, it's comfortable, its for toilet training for kids, etc... I was like, even in my house, I have never sat on it. Always seen it as a urine protector for guys (u know we de pee anyhow take scatter everywhere, especially for morning). It even looks fragile...

So Nairalanders, do you use the seat or ceramic? Which is safer, and which is healthier?

Coming home, there is no power to watch...
Ok! Its power, so the cable providers are not to blame. But I would still appreciate the change

HealthDo Females Have Wet Dreams??? by cevek11(op): 4:55pm On Nov 24, 2014
I had a wet dream, woke up, cleaned, changed shorts, and hit the bed again for round two of my sleep. In the morning, remembering I need to wash the shorts this question hit me. "Do females have wet dreams?". Googling for the answer I came across the article below... enjoy (slight modifications made)

Have you ever woken up to find a wet, sticky spot on your underwear or PJs? At first you may have worried that you wet the bed. But if you're going through or have already gone through puberty, you probably had a wet dream.
Doctors call wet dreams "nocturnal emissions." Nocturnal means "at night." Emission is another way to say 'release'.
Wonder what wet dreams are and why you have them? Here are the answers to FAQs that teens and some adults have about wet dreams.

What are wet dreams?
A wet dream is when you ejaculate while you're asleep. Ejaculate means to release semen (the fluid that contains sperm) from your penis. Usually a wet dream happens while you're having a dream about sex. You may not even remember the dream. You also don't have to masturbate to have a wet dream, as ejaculation can occur without touching your penis.

What causes wet dreams?
When you go through puberty, your body starts producing the male hormone, testosterone. Once your body makes testosterone, it can release sperm. This means you'll be able to fertilize an egg if you decide to have a baby in the future. It also means you can get a girl pregnant if you have sex. During puberty, you'll start having erections at different times of the day -- in school, while you watch TV, in the shower, and of course while you sleep. Semen will build up inside your body and one way that semen gets released is with a wet dream.

Is there something wrong with me because I'm having frequent wet dreams?
Wet dreams are a normal part of growing up. There's nothing you can do to control or stop wet dreams. Even if you have a lot of wet dreams it doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you (maybe you just like sex too much). Some guys have wet dreams a few times a week. Others may only have a couple of wet dreams during their entire life. Once you start releasing sperm by masturbating or having sex with a partner, you may have fewer wet dreams.

Does everyone have wet dreams?
You have to go through puberty and your testes need to be able to produce sperm to have a wet dream. Wet dreams during puberty are very common.

Is there something wrong with me if I don't have wet dreams?
Not every teenage boy has wet dreams. The fact you don't have wet dreams doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you.

Do girls have wet dreams?
Although girls can't ejaculate, they can have an orgasm during a dream. Girls don't have such dreams as often as boys, though.

What should I do if I have a wet dream?
When you wake up, clean yourself. Wash your penis and testicles with soap and water, including the area underneath your foreskin if you aren't circumcised. If you feel guilty or uncomfortable about having wet dreams -- or about a certain wet dream that you had -- talk to someone. Sit down with a doctor, parent, counselor, or another adult you trust.

CareerBe Extremely Patient... In Seeking For Jobs Or Opportunities To Grow? by cevek11(op): 11:59am On Jan 03, 2014
We have just finished the Christmas and New Year celebrations. And the realities of a new year dawns on us... Yes the hustling begins.

I am at my office trying to strategize how to grow my career when I received a call, from an Engr. Emma (08172955951), claiming he would offer me a Job to supply goods.

Instantly I replied "Oga!!! can you not wait till the July before you attempt to defraud innocent Nigerians?".

For goodness sake, we have just finished spending so much and here this man is, trying to take the little left.

On a more serious note, everyone seeking opportunity to grow this year should take care not to fall for SCAMs like this.
WebmastersCan I Guess Your Card Pin? by cevek11(op): 12:02am On Dec 05, 2013
The 10 easily guessed PIN codes that will hand your money to thieves
Analysis of 3.4 million real PIN codes found that people are surprisingly predictable - with a “top ten” of most-used codes which allow thieves an easy “way in”.

The wrong PIN code can leave your money open to thieves (Rex)

Choose the wrong PIN code and a criminal who has stolen your card will be able to simply guess your code - allowing them instant access to your money.

Analysis of 3.4 million real PIN codes found that people are surprisingly predictable - with a “top ten” of most-used codes which allow thieves an easy “way in”.

Almost 11% of the passwords analysed use the code 1234. For a thief or hacker, it's a gift - giving them a one in ten chance to unlock a stolen card on the first guess.

The report by Data Genetics was analysed by America’s Yahoo! Sideshow this week - and found that the least-used code was 8068.

“As noted above, the more popular password selections dominate the frequency tables. The most popular PIN code of 1234 is more popular than the lowest 4,200 codes combined!
That's right, you might be able to crack over 10% of all codes with one guess! Expanding this, you could get 20% by using just five numbers!”

The research analysed 3.4 million leaked four digit passwords to find the least - and most - common.

Nearly a third of passwords - 28.3% - can be guessed using just 20 combinations.

More than 6% of people use 1111, which also provides thieves with a good 'second guess'. Another 2% choose 0000.

As well as single-number combinations such as 5555 and 9999, simple variations such as 1122 are also common.

'James Bond fans may be interested to know 0007 is found at position 23,' say the researchers.

Of the 3.4 million passwords analysed, 8068 was the least-used combination - but, the researchers warn, 'Hackers can read too.' In the wake of the research, it’s now likely that 8068 will be far less secure.

'If you are a consumer and your recognize any of the numbers to be your passwords/pins I hope you apply common sense and immediately change them to something a little less predictable,' writes the Data Genetics researcher.

'Alternatively, you could be lazy and not change things (In that case, at least the only person you are harming with this apathy is yourself.)'

The most commonly used PINS are below:

1234
1111
0000
1212
7777
1004
2000
4444
