Idrismusty97: Here is your ranking prof.

http://www.4icu.org/ng/

Unilorin came 5th and i assured you prof,The longer the strike progresses, unilorin will rise to the top in Nigeria and even african.
Please this is not about Unilorin. I am a former student of Unilorin and i've realised that most people who praise the school for it's "achievements" are people who have never been immersed in other university communities in Nigeria. And on top of that, there's an effective PR mechanism in that school. I came to ABU Zaria and all of a sudden Unilorin was nothing to me anymore both in terms of staff quality and infrastructure.
With that being said, let's get back to ASUU vs FG

Haruna Lukman of the 2007 u17 world cup winning team. I loved this player. If he's playing well i see no reason why he shouldnt be recalled(i think he has a few caps already). Those saying he's not disciplined probably never heard of Cantona or Balotelli. It takes a great coach to manage huge egos. Besides who knows whether he's become a calmer person with age

Education › Re: ASUU Strike: A Lecturer Speaks by Chartey(m): 2:50pm On Oct 11, 2013
Most people complaining about lazy and incompetent lecturers missed a point the Professor stressed. He said more money in a sector attracts better brains and due to the competition(and inevitable better monitoring) everybody works hard to safeguard his/her job. I think this is easy to grasp.
Education › Re: ASUU Strike: A Lecturer Speaks by Chartey(m): 2:42pm On Oct 11, 2013
Boss13: @prof I just checked and I noticed you are still responding to this thread. I want to spare a few of my official/management time to engage you and I also hope some of your members (ASUU) are here to read too.

You have quite mentioned that tertiary education is expensive - That is a fact. However, we know that our entire educational system is in shambles and needs a thorough restructuring. Why is ASUU is so concerned about their unpaid earned allowances than repositioning the tertiary institution in the country

Question 2 - The success of every economy lies on the strength of its education. We have so many problems/issues (economic, social, financial and otherwise). Why can't our universities develop solutions to these our problems?

Question 3 - You claim that the main reason for the strike is provision of infrastructure in tertiary institution - Why kind of infrastructure are you talking about?

Question 4 - We have encountered, witnessed, listen and read about unruly behaviours of lecturers/teachers - What is the true role of lecturers in tertiary universities? Who should held accountable for these nonsense ill-behaved lecturers? What is the role of the Nigerian University Commission (NUC)?

Prof while addressing my questions, I can see some important comments/questions raised above. Also, address them.
Please did you finish reading his initial post?
Education › Re: ASUU Strike: A Lecturer Speaks by Chartey(m): 2:09pm On Oct 11, 2013
oxford: Am not surprise by your ignorant post.

If a whole prof, who by all intend could be ASSU president himself in disguise could not stand my missiles of facts, how could you possibly withstand me?

Now for starters ASSU alleged earned allowance is not 30billion like you stated but, wait for it, 98 billion!

So next time get your facts straight before exposing your ignorance in a public forum
I honestly doubt you read the whole initial post because your writing "ASSU" shows you pay little regard to detail.
Education › Re: ASUU Strike: A Lecturer Speaks by Chartey(m):
oxford: u are been clever by half. Why did you leave out the main point in my post which is ASUU has no moral justification to talk about fg not implementing an agreement. By staying at home u greedy lectures has also breached their employement contract. If it were in the private universities u stay off work for just a day........

With or without ASUU Nigeria is moving forward.

And pls stop thanking me. Engage me. I thought u said that what u want?
You are obviously bitter and not being rational here. You can't bash ASUU because of a government that has no regard for the rule of law and breaches agreements with impunity.
Romance › Re: What Is Wrong With Your Younger Sibling Getting Married Before You? by Chartey(m): 9:07am On Oct 11, 2013
the woman doesnt remain in her family once she gets married, even though she's still part of her family.

making sacrifices can be from anybody, i dont think its right for the older to ask her sister to remain unhappy and resentful just because she (older sister) isnt ready to marry yet.

if people find themselves in a situation like this, imo the best option is to be happy for the bride and believe God for your own man.

should the older sister just jump on any male in sight in the name of getting married first?

These things are not as simple as you make them appear. Yes, it will assuage the older sister if her younger sibling postpones her wedding out of deference to her. However, how will the younger sister alleviate her own hurt feelings and what is she supposed to feel about the family wahala preventing her from getting married?
tpia what tribe are you and where did you grow up?
Romance › Re: What Is Wrong With Your Younger Sibling Getting Married Before You? by Chartey(m): 12:19am On Oct 11, 2013
its statements like these which make people feel bad about their siblings marrying.

another option (which is locking the barn after the horse has gone), is to space your kids about 10- 15 years between each of them, that way there's little chance of the younger getting married before the older.

if that's not practical, then stop stoking unnecessary ill feeling and try to be more supportive.

sibling rivalry isnt limited to marriage issues or gender btw.

and, imo, someone who will consider it disrespect on the part of the younger sibling, will still fight the sibling for some other reason anyway, with or without marriage. The underlying issue is not the wedding but something else in the family dynamics.

ideally, perhaps.

in reality, wouldnt be so feasible unless the younger sister is extremely patient and her fiance is also understanding.

and what if the older sister isnt ready to marry?
It's another thing if she's not ready to marry. At least everybody knows she doesn't want to. But if she does and she's just having challenges, then being patient isn't out of order. It's in the interest of the family. Remember the family is bigger than the individuals in it. Besides everybody makes sacrifices for everybody in the family(the beauty of a true African family). If she explains to the fiance and he doesn't understand then he isn't worth marrying. He'll become the sort of husband who'll alienate the wife from her family anyways since he has little regard for the family of his wife. As a man, i have no problem waiting for 2 or 3 more years to marry the woman I'll build a home and spend the rest of my life with.

My mind exactly. The categories are also not well-defined. 90% of all the songs can fall under "afropop" or "afrobeat".

I knew Nigerians would get emotional over this news. If you compare amounts paid by the various countries to their populations, you'll find out that Nigeria even pays less per head/viewer. The real issue is that this formula of BON buying rights on behalf of all the broadcasters has failed. We need a real sports marketing company to buy rights and sell to this lazy local tv stations who are just seeking undeserved sympathy. Instead of them to be innovative in their marketing, they're always complaining. If this our BON formula doesn't change, we may not even watch the world cup itself.

salt 1: Two elder sisters? Poor them! They will be feeling soooooooo old!

I can understand the parents' concern. Peace will disappear from that family until those two ladies marry too.
They can't even share in their sister's joy during the wedding because all the well-meaning uncles and aunties will fill their ears with prayers of " don't worry my daughter. your own will soon come. slow and steady wins the race" etc.

Is it wrong? not at all
Is it good for family peace? Never!

It's even easier if they are men. Women can get very emotional over such things
You took the words right out of my mouth. It's sad the way people are ready to brush aside our African cultures in the name of modernity due to ignorance. These things were put in place for a reason.
It is true that in life your happiness is the ultimate. But how can you remain happy when your siblings are not happy with you. The right thing to do is to put pressure on your elder sister to get married while you are patient. A little sacrifice and consideration in life never hurt anyone. Marrying before her is a form of disrespect and humiliation which she may never forget even if it seems she has.

Most of you saying they should give way to younger people don't know what you are saying. Is it this generation of graduates who don't know anything apart from Facebook and twitter? Who can't even speak good English? There's a reason "years of experience" matters in leadership positions.
Have you thought of the fates of some of them who still have children in schools and have got school fees to pay. Let it happen to your parents then you will know how it feels like.
With that being said, i state that i don't support under-declaration of any sort whether in terms of age or financial(like the politicians who sacked the principals do).

You shouldn't be rude. Not everybody stays in Lagos. Do you know all the places in Kano, Abuja, Port Harcourt, or even the Kaduna you mentioned? If you had mentioned say Ikeja, Oshodi or somewhere popular outside Lagos, it won't have warranted that question whether sarcastic or genuine.

joshuapharm: because I'm just meeting you, I'll repeat myself. U see, this three professions av their roles to play in ur illness.. Every patient has a right to get his/her prescription cross-checked by a pharmacist, administration and compliance issues belong to the nurses, diagnosis belongs to the meds, pathologist and lab scientists.. I get tired lately when I noticed doctors in my area prescribe antimalarials and antibiotics randomly to patients without any confirmation tests especially when treating general symptoms, that's not for you to worry about tho.

What you need to know is, there is a triad of care in the health-industry as proposed by helper and strand(google it).. Medical care, pharmaceutical care and nursing care. Each profession in this triad has a role to play, when one profession tries to limit another, opinions will be raised, concerns will be voiced.. So u see, theres no antagonism of any sort.. GBU
Pls enlighten me honestly. In that triad, who ranks highest?
