Look at the thread that made front page

https://www.nairaland.com/7894356/got-sacked-after-asking-four

I saw her thread before it went to front page I knew it was a bait. After it went to front page I was surprised how people buy into it. Going through the thread even made my suspicions strong. Here is Why.

Alot of people were making submission and asking her some questions yet she refused answering them because her story would fall under scrutiny. All she was interested in was replying with her account details for those that asked and saying thank you. Just to even provide her normal account so that people can verify if it corresponds with the e-banking account she dropped, she is beating around the bush. up to the time of writing this she refused the request. Just after 4 or 5 comments someone was the first to ask her to drop her account details, it seems odd that he became busy shielding and fighting people that want to authenticate her account numbers.

So I said let me dig into it.

90% of begging stories in nairaland are from scammers, the other 9% might be genuine people who can help their situation by themselves but would rather come and beg total strangers to help them while maybe only 1% actually needs help. Lol

A not old moniker without any engagement whatsoever, then a tactical begging story. Of the 11 pages of her thread, more than half of the post are questions or issues that needs clarification yet she refused answering any. This is because loopholes, flaws, inconsistencies or things that don't add up or don't make sense would have emerged hence her story would fall like deck of cards.

Moreover most of nairaland begging stories can't be verified from afar or virtually. I can't just trust stories for the same reason no one would do a business transaction of sending money to a new moniker.

As for nairaland and it's mods I don't see any problem with them, they need things that would bring engagement.

Background check on the moniker you provided. In (2020) you were 23years, suddenly now (2023) you turn 28years abi?

Also, you are in 500L since 2019 according to one of your begging post but today you are claiming clearance money abi? Lol

All your post since you created the (Oluwapluto) moniker are littered with different begging stories and the likes. In fact you are a seasoned beggar unfortunately some people have been falling for you baits.

To make it worst you trolled people here by saying they should drop their number for 100k giveaway of 1k each.

99% of beggars are on nairaland are scammers. Take it to the bank.

If your picture is large. Screenshot and cut it. It would reduce the file size.

What do you mean by the statement? "So I think I have to notify my current issue, being an old member of this platform since 2018"

You have relatives, friends, probably parents whom you are their responsibility. You left all of those to come and beg complete strangers.

Rich man pikin, how many people working and earning for several years can even afford or are paying such kind of 150k to 200k rent sef in Nigeria?

You can pack out and find a place you can afford. Moreover thousands of students in your school pay or rent places that cost way less than 100k to 150k.

Plenty of ways you can help yourself or solve your problem, but you choose that it is strangers who should understand your problem and help out.
AgricultureRe: Must You Live In The City? Why Village Life Is Better!! by Childfree: 3:43pm On Sep 30, 2023
Babysho:
I’ve been thinking seriously about this as a man in my late 20s. Having grown up in Lagos, at 14 I already had a mobile phone so now I’m trying to convince myself that I can live without electricity and screens but I don’t think I’m winning.

Albeit, sometimes, I find myself longing for the peaceful lifestyle of waking up to the sound of birds and breeze from trees, organic foods at my disposal and most importantly nobody fit rush me. I don’t have to meet any stupid deadlines. The only work is farming/poultry and I actually enjoy that.

My secondary worry is females. Since all the girls leave the village to go to the city for better lives, no be only grandmas go dey?

In summary my dream life would be having a home in a thick forest that leads to a waterfall, a woman to keep my company, a little DIY gym and healthy farm/poultry that’s enough to feed like 10 people. So I can eat chicken and fruits everyday.
To be honest, had it been my friend is on nairaland and he saw what you wrote he'll definitely say it is me. Though I less care about some of your concerns.

That is off-grid living and homestead Life. Check out on YouTube and tick-tock to see people living this dream life they prefer.

This is the kind of life I also want.

For me life should be about living, not living to work. I don't subscribe to the 9 to 5, or the work work life that I see people doing. The only necessity in life is food, every other thing are just man's creation. As it is I am not even interested nor do I want the dream wants of the average persons out there; wealth, cars, mansions, alot of money... And the likes.

All I want is to get away from the city and the problems associated with it. The villages also have their problems so I also want to be away from it.

Live in the middle of nowhere in my tiny house. Live a sustainable kind of lifestyle and practice homesteading. Be happy and free.

Unfortunately I am finding it hard to see how it would be possible in this country with the insecurity and the number of bad people roaming about. I am considering moving to Kenya or Ghana.

PS; also in my late 20s.

FamilyRe: Help Me Before I Go Mad!!! by Childfree:
@Bethuel2022

Facebook or YouTube is not something you go into just because you need money in the next 2 weeks or month. It takes most people several months and years even while putting valuable content. Obviously you don't have what it takes if not you would have seen its progress organically with time.

How many nairalanders are in Jos? How many would be interested in buying a car? How many would seek for it online? Why do you think there are many sellers of different stuff in Lagos on nairaland but not in Adamawa or kogi?

Jos is not know for grains. How many nairalanders do you know or anyone doing the kind of stuff you typically get from Jos? How or what do they do to make it work, for how long have they been in it....

Your problem is you undermine all the ventures you are trying and you make it like it is a simple thing to do. To make it worse no brainstorming or thoughts about how you would make it work. With this you would end up as someone who has tried a million things and non worked.

My advice:

You and the individual that birth the child have the responsibility of the child. He must do his own part. Reach out to him, his parents, relatives and report him so that they can compel him to contribute his quarter, if this fails go and report him to the relevant authorities.

What or how are you surviving now? It seems like doing nothing or having no kobo is better than 20k to you. Moreover in one of your post you said you were teaching and tacking care of yourself and other minor household issue before you meet him, why not now?

Go back to your parents or family house. Take the teaching job, If your mum is a stay at home mother let her watch your baby while you are at work. If not look for a not too doing well neighbour and pay her a token every month. If your child is of school age enrol him in a school you can afford that is not far from your home or at the route of your working place.

While at the work, gather some few thousands. Scout for a spot and try your luck selling food in the evenings or frying one or two things like the way I see women do.

Get more information from his brother or people that know him personally.

Is he just on the street?
Where he lives
Who are his friends
Where are his parents or possible relatives... And so on. This would give you a clue on where to search or get him.

Monitor his Facebook or other social media activities.

Additionally, use a girl to bait him. Create a Facebook account or preferably Find a girl his class that has no connection with you or your area on social media. You should know what to do next.

This is what I'll do if I was in your shoe.

Samantha124:
What I want to know is why Nigerians use minors as house helps?

What does a young child know about being a house help?
They won't respond to you because most if not all of them do it or they see nothing wrong with it and they have made it a norms here.

No adult would go and work in their home without proper pay. So they take advantage of the naive minors whose parents are extremely very poor and illiterate whom have also birth kids like rats and have no regards for the human they birthed. They approach them and take their kids as worker for their home.

The cheapest labor there is because it is absolutely free.

Minors, some even less than 10, 12 doing chores that adults should be doing.

Ironically they might have children same age or more than the minor, they feel their children are too precious or such kind of work is too stressful for their children yet they comfortably allow someone child do it.

No one is stopping anybody from having a maid or house help. Go and hire an adult and pay them.

Hiring a minor is child labour and exploitation.

My mates have children in secondary school. Some of them soon to enter university.

I long noticed the futility in making a wife out of many available women. Females my age range are either married, divorced, widowed or hidden in shame from a lack of suitors. Too many baggages come with them so I look lower when selecting mates.

I have no problem playing sugar daddy to Gen Z girls. Women are at their physical peak in their late teens to early twenties.

How do I recognize when it’s time to settle down and make children? I don’t feel any longing or the thought of something missing in my life. I tried the partnership route, that felt more like an unnecessary burden. I can imagine marriage will turn out worse. Is there something I should look out for? I don’t feel incomplete without children.
There is nothing to look out for. The moment you begin to feel you want to be together with someone as married couples or you see a need to have children. You yourself is in best position to tell if you want any of it.

Some people marry or have children because their friends do, some do because they see others doing it, like zombies without a mind of their own or thoughts of if is something they'll like or do.

Not everyone would want marriage and not everyone would want children.

Spoken like a true non-planner! undecided

2. You don't have kids unless you are ready to deal with all the stresses that come with having them. So you plan ahead either by getting yourself a babysitter or a family member lined up to help care for the kid while you work or have your other life if that is what you worry you would need time for. There are CEO mothers and fathers out there whose schedules are the busiest. Many of them don't even go on maternity leave when the baby is due. There are women who have their baby one day and are back to work the next day. This is all thanks to planning ahead and arranging what they would need to cater to their child from birth to at least adolescence. undecided

3. Make una dey there dey deceive una self. Marriage does not bestow on you any special status that leaves you immune to application to commonsense solutions that are available all the world over. Billions of people have tried and tested the same marriage and childbearing and have learned from their experience how to more efficiently handle many of these same problems you are crying about today. It takes a sensible individual to take these tried and tested ideas and apply them to better his or her situation. There are of course nonsensible individual out there who would rather complain than do the right thing in their situation. If that is the crowd you wish to belong to in 2023, knock yourself out. undecided
You are writing an epistle out of line from what I even inquired.

Unless you want to suggest their is no difference between when one has a child and when not. The issue is why complain regards the responsibility.

Whatever solution you suggest, it is all part of the inconvenience.

Wether you outsource or do it yourself, why the heck complain for whatever inconvenience, stress or the difficulty of the situation one put himself into?

It isn't true. Marriage/family comes with great responsibilities however, been able to plan ahead and adjust where necessary makes navigating the challenges easier. That said, there are so many sacrifices to be made and they do not come without a great price. Waiting to sacrifice when it is convenient for you in my opinion is no sacrifice but been able to work it out with your partner and kids to tolerate and play your part in every sacrifice is the key thing.
Why cry when faced with the responsibility and acting ignorance like they don't know what they are putting themselves into involves?

It isn't true at all. It all depends on how each person plans such things. But you and I know how in Nigeria people rather plunge headfirst without thinking or taking time to plan these things out, only to then complain when they become overwhelmed as a result of their lack of planning and foresight. undecided
Saying because they don't plan is ridiculous.

How do you have time for yourself when time is now for the 3 of you?
Taking care of a child, probably awake at night is not stressful?
Can you stay out without coming to your child?
Can you just wake up and go to vacation for 2 months?

Mr planning, how does planning solve this?

Practically marriage, child or children would adversely affect your whole life. Unless you want to be a deadbeat parent

It bewilders me when people complain.

Homesteading means moving to less populated places where one can acquire land to cultivate crops, raise animals and carry out small/medium scale production on relatively small plots of land measuring from a few plots to a few acres. It involves leaving the urban lifestyle with it's stress, pollution, crime etc to move to a more serene environment where one can live directly from the land and other economic activities. Do we have people who are homesteaders or wish to be homesteaders in Nigeria? This thread is for us.

To be honest I was expecting to hear he lost his job or his business crumbled hence why he's in this situation.

If he is not serious with his life and also doing the right things, no matter what anyone does or advice given to him would be futile.

Definitely something is wrong somewhere. Person who's means of earning is riding bike yet he didn't buy a bike. All this year's what has he been doing? Hmm

He should desist from collecting people's bike, what if it got stolen or got damaged. No be more problem?

I will make this as brief as possible.

There is a man living with 3 children, a teenage daughter and two sons. His wife is late.
He's about 45yrs old.
He does all kinds of menial job.. I mean anything, from riding okada to clearing grass or labourer for bricklayer..... anything at all to put food on the table for him and his children.

He's someone that usually come to me sometimes for advice. Last year I advised him to put his children in public school and he did.

Most times when you see him, he is always thinking and talking to himself now and he wasn't like this before.

Everyone have noticed that he's depressed.

The last few weeks have become worse, u see him walking up and down asking everyone if there is anything he can do to get paid.

Saw me yesterday and he just said " kini mo leshe oti su mi".

I looked at his teary eyes and I told him, I will get back to him.

I don't even know what to tell him anymore, cos I know almost all his struggles.

What advise can I give.
You didn't cite any specific problem how can anyone advice?

What exactly is bothering him hence the depression?

His wife's demise?
Inability to cater for himself and children?
Lack of job?

From what you wrote up there, I find it strange despite the number of things he can do yet it seems even basic feeding is a problem.

Did he lost his job as a result trying to patch things with okada, menial jobs or labourer or were this what he has been always doing to survive?

Why or what happened to riding okada? Isn't this what is putting food on the table for thousands of okada riders?

You mean he'll keep his bike at home and go to clear grass or do labourer work for small token when he can use his bike?

To help him you'll have to tackle the root of his problems.

Ironically the people that can't meet up with their rent, children school fees, feeding... are still firing to fulfill the number of children they always desire.

They don't pity their lives why should I. Continue, na them go suffer their thing.
