Anambra Born, Prof. Benedict Oramah, Re-appointed As Afreximbank President.

By Valentine Mbadugha (ABS News)

Shareholders of African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) have voted and re-appointed Prof. Benedict Oramah as President of the Pan-African multilateral financial institution for a second 5-year term.

The decision was announced on 14th June 2020, in Cairo, Egypt following Afreximbank’s 27th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders which was held by circulation of resolutions due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation.

In an acceptance statement released shortly thereafter, President Oramah told Shareholders that the Bank’s ultimate goal under his second term of office is the realisation of Africa’s strategic ambition to create an integrated market.

“We want an Africa where the foundations of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) are laid expeditiously so that the 84,000 kilometres of borders that have divided us for ages can begin to come down,” prof. Oramah said.

He added that AfCFTA would “drive the industrialisation of Africa, support the emergence of regional value chains, turn Africa’s creative and cultural assets into engines of growth, grow jobs for the continent’s youth, convey respect to Africans wherever they may be and better prepare the continent to compete more effectively in the global markets.

Prof. Oramah who assumed office as the President and Chairman Board Of Directors of the Afreximbank on the 21st September, 2015 is an Indigene Nnokwa in Idemili South council area of Anambra state.

The African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a Pan-African multilateral financial institution with the mandate of financing and promoting intra-and extra-African trade. Afreximbank was established in October 1993 and is owned by African governments, the African Development Bank and other African multilateral financial institutions as well as African and non-African public and private investors

Imagine the pain in the heart of many "Fellow Nigerians"when they see international organizations reaffirm the Igbo again and again, while the Nigerian regime rejected the same Igbo people!

In their haste to remove Igbos from every government position, they hastily ruined Nigeria. Meanwhile the Igbo remained unstoppable and using their skills to improve other decent parts of the world.

Great video of the growing surburbs of Onitsha at Nkwelle Ezunaka and Nsugbe!

It will be good if the deteriorating road to Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe is totally re-done with gutters.

Need for a Direct-Labour State Government Agency
The need to begin rebuilding our cities internal roads should now become a priority of Anambra state government. I thank them for the internal roads done via Nigerian army at Fegge. We truly must focus on uplifting the three major cities in the state via tarring every important interal road or street in the cities. This cannot be done prudently by awarding contracts. I remember when Dr Sam Egwu of Ebonyi state set up a state government Direct-Labour agency to tar all Abakaliki internal roads and streets. Today, indeed all important internal streets in Abakaliki has been tarred and no longer have the red dust the city was notorious for! That is how visionary governance help transform a state.

Thus, the Anambra State Government could set up an internal direct labour team at the state Ministry of works. Then use the teams that will be set up for the cities of Awka, Nnewi and Onitsha to totally re-do the drainages and roads via direct labour.

Abiku Dabiri is a useless thot. Although her utterance is of no consequence whatsoever because unlike Nigerians, the American Police will investigate every crime and follow obvious leads to apprehend the culprit. Compare that to Nigeria where Fulani herdsmen kill people and walk on with their cattle. While the Nigerian Police announces that they are "looking" for the murderer!

Abiku Dabiri is ALWAYS blinded by tribalism. There is NO TRIBALISM in the USA. The little girl went to have fun in a hotel with a sick old BLACK man. He probably strangled her in error while they were performing weird intercourse.

Fantastic video of Awka!!

Drones can be used to enhance security of lives and property.

Obiano should buy our vigilantes and community police drones like this to use in searching the forests before they physically enter.
This will assist our community security outfits the ability to see what is inside different areas of the forest from a safe distance without anyone getting killed by marauders in the forests.

Many African Americans are planning to return and invest in Africa due to the racist fueled murders by both the police and white supremacists in the United States of America. Nigeria does not seem to be a popular destination; the countries of their affection are usually Gambia , Ghana , Senegal , Kenya, etc. But there are a few of them who are willing to take the plunge and test the waters in Nigeria.

I personally think this is a big risk because if there is one country where black lives do not matter, it is Nigeria.

What about you, would you advice African Americans to try out Nigeria initially, for settling down amongst their black brothers and sisters ?
African Americans are better off in Ghana where rule of law applies and they are unlikely to die at the hands of a drunk policeman or DSS agents.

Nigeria is very dangerous for anyone with black skin that African Americans are likely to be mistaken as ordinary Nigerians and shot in error.

I immediately knew the person was IGBO!.......and ofcourse I was right!

If this person had been Yoruba or Fulani, the title would have read, "Yoruba writer becomes New York's bestseller"

...Lolzz... they just changed the title of the thread again to : "Ijeoma Oluo: so you wan talk about race?" grin grin grin grin

1914 Amalgamation was a grave mistake' Yorubas more homogenous than the North

Chairman of Dialogue Group in Kaduna, Alhaji Mohammed Mahadi Shehu, has lamented the deep ethno-religious divisions in the country, stating that breaking up the nation may not be such a bad idea.

The prolific writer and public speaker stated that the amalgamation of the Northern and Southern protectorates by the British in 1914 was a huge mistake.

He stated that most Nigerians have not been able to rise about ethnic and religious sentiments, making a united nation difficult to achieve.

Shehu disclosed these in an interview published by Daily Sun on Monday.

He said, “When the amalgamation of Nigeria took place, virtually everybody’s head in this country was not up. In other words, nobody realised the consequences of merging this country.

“With the passage of time, with the knowledge, with clear daily happenings it was realized long ago that the amalgamation was done in haste, out of mischief without taking into consideration the peculiarities in Nigeria.

“But before it was realised, it had been done and it had become a country. Events from 1960 to date have clearly shown that the amalgamation was the biggest mistake of that century and there is nothing wrong in righting the wrong once you realise the wrong is wrong. Amalgamation is wrong.

“Our togetherness had been fused together not through consultation but through unilateral action of the colonial masters and politicians at that time to serve their immediate needs. That was what happened.

“You will agree with me that from 1966 till date, precisely, it has not been rosy and easy for Nigeria. It has been one form of calamity, tragedy or the other. In fact, now we are at the height of suspicion. We do not trust and believe in each other. We are at each others’ throat and at daggers drawn. Must we allow another war to come before we part?

“Let us peacefully go on the table, break the Kola, distribute the country for everybody’s peace. If we do not do it now, the future generation will abuse us.

“It is better for Nigeria to break into smaller, smaller countries as much as possible if that will allow us to save properties, lives, relationships and posterity because I do not see any Angel coming now, in human form, to unite Nigeria.”

Shehu added, “People have gone under the umbrella of Islam and Christianity to advance their political cause only for them also to ride on the same Islamic and Christian umbrella to plant hate and venom in the mind, heart, psyche and socio-economic activities of Nigeria such that today, that unity is no more there.

“If anybody is pretending that there is unity in this country, he is on his own and God help him. But I am not going to live in denial; all is not well.

“All will not be well until these divisions are identified or are rather addressed by giving people independence the way they want it.

“Ask any Yoruba man, 90 percent will tell you he is waiting for the actualization of an Oduduwa Republic. Ask any Igbo man, he is waiting for the actualization of the Sovereign Republic of Biafra. Ask anybody from the Niger-Delta region, he is waiting for the Niger-Delta Republic.

“It is only probably in the North that there is no agenda of Arewa Republic because of our peculiarities. The Yoruba nations are more homogenous than the North. Niger-Delta and the Igbo are more homogenous but they all have their own internal divisions. But in the North, we have ethnic minorities, other smaller enclaves that are not willing to go with the majority ethnic tribes because of their previous experiences and that of their great, great grandfathers. They have also lost trust in the bigger tribes.

“The issue of power shift is an interesting issue and that tells you that it is better we divide Nigeria. One example; if you hear an Igbo man clamouring for power shift, if power were to shift to an indigenous Muslim Igbo, ask an Igbo man, because there are indigenous Igbo Muslims there; if power were to shift to say, Imo State and it is shifted to an indigenous Muslim Igbo, if you ask the entire Igbo nation who are not Muslims whether power has shifted to them they will tell you no. If you ask a Yoruba man about power shift, to say Modakeke; ask an Ife man whether power has shifted to him and the answer will be that it is not because it is to his sworn enemy.

“If people from Nasarawa, Benue, Kogi, Taraba, Middle Belt who are clamouring for power shift, a minority from them, a Tiv Muslim were to emerge president of Nigeria, Tiv people will tell you they have not seen power and that power has not shifted to them.

“In Katsina State, the Karaduwa people have been clamouring for power shift to them. Governor Aminu Masari is from Karaduwa. But were that power fallen to an indigenous Christian in Malumfashi, Kafur, Yarabori, Askia or Funtua, the Hausa man in that area will tell you no.

“Even now as we are talking, Buhari is from Daura, ask any Katsina Central man if he believes power has shifted to Katsina; he would tell you no.

“So, a country where you feel only comfortable when a man from your Church, Mosque, house or tribe becomes president, that country is gone and it is only a matter of time.

Similarly in week 2, they will visit Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Abia and Ebonyi. They will take detailed pictures and drone images of all the states. Then be back on Nairaland to show everybody. This will help to eliminate bias and uphold transparency!
These childish post.

However, the reason why this is even contemplated is because the Federal Government of Nigeria deliberately had a policy to keep certain parts of Nigeria in stone age. But they failed and the people from these places are eager to prove that the policy failed failed.

This is more reason why i know Nigeria is truly beyond redemption. Buhari could have been a great President that united Nigeria, instead he focused on his primitive Fulani agenda to dominate and decimate other parts of Nigeria. Again, he will find out that the policy failed. Nigeria itself has failed as a viable entity or country.

This regime is such a sick tragic joke! So now it's Nnamdi Kanu that will determine Nigeria's relationship with UK, US and EU?

I really did not support Nnamdi Kanu, but it appears he has a way of keeping the corrupt Nigerian government officials from looting money and mindless abuse of human rights. In that case, I love the man!

By the way, everyone is aware of Buhari's support for Fulani militia to kill and maim Christians in Southern Kaduna and much of the middle belt. He has also smuggled hordes of Almajirai into the south during the lockdown to try and create violence in southern villages. Then worsen insecurity in southern states through the creation of Fulani fiefdoms in southern forests where Fulani militia will kidnap, rape, and demand ransom from the locals.

Everyone is aware of the regime's intrigues. IPOB may say it loud, it does not mean that the western countries don't have intelligence services in Nigeria monitoring these moves by the present government.

Smilingjoe4:
The Presidency on Sunday said it has uncovered an ongoing plot by the Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB to set the country against some of its allies such as the US, UK and the European Union.

The Presidency said this while alerting Nigerians and the international community of the move it described as a most misleading campaign wherein the group uses false allegations of persecution of Christians against the Nigerian State.

The Presidency said this in a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu and made available to DAILY POST on Sunday.

It claimed that a very deep and wide investigation carried out by one of the agencies of the Nigerian government, working with international partners, has drawn its attention to two interconnected campaigns being concurrently run by the pro-Biafra group.

The statement said that “Both [campaigns] are using the cover of Christianity – and calling for a US Special Envoy to be appointed to stop the “genocide” of Christians in Nigeria.”

According to the Presidency, the real purpose of this campaign was to drive a wedge between the Nigerian government and its US and UK/European allies.

It said that Nnamdi Kanu only claims to have an interest in Christians for reasons of convenience, adding that the IPOB leader believes that his struggle for Independence is strengthened by ‘proving’ the government of Nigeria is ‘autocratic’, engaged in a ‘silent slaughter’ of its own citizens along religious and ethnic lines.

The Presidency called on Nigerians and the international community to be wary of this divisive campaign by the IPOB and its leader, which, according to available evidence, has been “funded monthly with $85,000 since October 2019, with no records of the source of this largesse.”

“The campaign consists of producing articles in the names of the alleged Christian NGOs’ leaders (of campaign groups created at the time this PR contract with a US lobbying firm was signed) and letters to and from members of Congress to the White House,” the statement added.

It said unfortunately the IPOB has succeeded in persuading some members of Congress to believe that there is indeed a ‘Christian persecution’ underway in Nigeria “and they are known to be taking up the case directly with the White House to appoint the special envoy.”

“The American charity secured a meeting with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and has made presentations to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom,” the Presidency said.

It further alleged that the same campaign is also going on in the UK and Europe.

“They have founded an ‘NGO/Charity’ and a linked web-based campaign named ‘Stop the Silent Slaughter’ which is well designed and complete with video “evidence”-completely concocted,” the statement claimed.

“Members of the alleged Christian NGO have had multiple Op-Ed articles in conservative news websites promulgating their message of a ‘Christian Genocide’. Some of those articles have also been used as ‘evidence’ in the sister US campaign.

“Two of those conservative news websites were co-founded by the owner of the UK PR firm they have hired to generate their publicity as well as an OP-Ed article in the name of a British MP who may have been convinced by their campaign under false pretenses.”

Garba Shehu explained further that the IPOB has secured additional coverage in France, EU, and Germany.
“They secured an MPs debate on the ‘Christian Genocide’ in the House of Commons in which staff member of the UK PR was referenced as the ‘private secretary’ to the leader of the UK-based Charity,” it said.

The Presidency said it was clear that IPOB’s extraordinarily and dubiously well-funded campaign in the US and UK and Europe was misusing the issue of the welfare of Christians purely to further their own political ends.

He said the group is seeking to damage inter-religious dialogue in Nigeria as well as to damage the international reputation of Nigeria.

“Nigerians and the international community are hereby advised to ignore this campaign as they have disregarded similar past campaigns originated by this group which has been designated as a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian State,” it added.

PoliticsRe: Diezani Allison-Madueke Is A Commissioner In Dominican Republic by ChimaAdeoye: 11:20pm On Jun 07, 2020
What is so worrying about Buhari's one-sided anti-corruption is that he condones corruption when it is perpetrated by Fulanis and suddenly snaps with anti-corruption EFCC when he sees same by other tribes.

1. Maikanti Baru, was accused of diverting a whopping $12 billion dollars and Buhari simply removed Ibe Kachikwu (whistle blower) for exposing the man. EFCC pretended they didn't hear it or the powers that be prevented EFCC from investigating the theft.

2. Babachir Lawal openly told Nigerians he spent a whopping N540 million on importing grass from Brazil. They took him to court briefly because Osinbajo was in charge then. Then miraculously Buhari returned from medical trip and trial fell apart.

3. Enugu airport runway extension, rehabilitation and ILS were said to cost about N10 billion naira! As soon as the money was released after Igbo Kings went to beg Buhari in Abuja, they handed the money to faceless government officials who simply resurfaced the old runway, installed gutters and ILS. Not an inch of the runway was extended from 3KM to 3.5KM!

4. While school children were home due to school closure from COVID-19, Hajia Zainab Ahmed stunned Nigerians by announcing she had spent a whopping N679 million naira daily on feeding school children! Who were already in the parent's home! EFCC pretended they didn't hear the silly circumstances under which a whopping N679 million daily was spent. Till date, nobody has asked any questions nor tried to investigate.

There are too many to count. Therefore, the witch-hunting Diezani by an administration that condones such public theft of our resources makes a joke of the anti-corruption fight. If there were a sincere effort by the Buhari regime to stamp out corruption, Nigerians would totally support it.

Ecstasy154:
The presidency has released the statement below accusing an outlawed separtist group of working to discredit the Nigerian government internationally, particularly in the U.S. and Europe.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) wants an independent country of Biafra, made up of the Igbo-speaking part of Nigeria, largely in the South-eastern part of the country.

The group was outlawed in Nigeria after the federal government accused it of terrorism, although most of its programmes and protests have been largely peaceful.

The government has also clamped down violently on IPOB members with some of the attacks condemned by rights groups including Amnesty International.

The leader of the group, Nnamdi Kanu, is currently on exile abroad after he jumped bail from his trial for treason in Nigeria.

In a statement Sunday by President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu, he accused IPOB of waging a smear camapign to accuse the Nigerian government of encouraging the persecution of Christians.

“Nigerians and the international community are advised to be wary of this divisive campaign, which available evidence shows is being funded with a monthly spending of $85,000 USD since October 2019, with no records of the source of this largesse,” Mr Shehu wrote.

Read Mr Shehu’s full statement below.

IPOB, SELF-PROCLAIMED JEWS, USING CHRISTIANITY TO WAGE WAR AGAINST THE NIGERIAN STATE

The Presidency wishes to draw the attention of all citizens and the international community to a most misleading campaign spearheaded by the so-called Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) using false allegations of persecution of Christians against the Nigerian State.

A very deep and wide investigation by an agency of the Nigerian government, working with international partners have made us become aware that there are two, interconnected campaigns being run concurrently by the IPOB in this regard.

Both are using the cover of Christianity – and calling for a US Special Envoy to be appointed to stop the “genocide” of Christians in Nigeria. But the real purpose is to drive a wedge between the Nigeria government and its US and UK/European allies.

IPOB leadership of course self-proclaims as “Jewish,” a position not shared by the generality of the members.

For reasons of convenience, he claims to have an interest in the welfare of Christians – but this is a ruse: the case for independence, the leader believes, is strengthened by “proving” the government of Nigeria is “autocratic”, engaged in a “silent slaughter” of their own citizens along religion and ethnic lines – and that therefore the only viable option for the unique religious and ethnic minority is a sovereign Biafra separate from Nigeria.

Nigerians and the international community are advised to be wary of this divisive campaign, which available evidence shows is being funded with a monthly spending of $85,000 USD since October 2019, with no records of the source of this largesse.

The campaign consists of producing articles in the names of the alleged Christian NGOs’ leaders (of campaign groups created at the time this PR contract with a US lobbying firm was signed) and letters to and from members of Congress to the White House.

Unfortunately, some Members of Congress have clearly been persuaded there is indeed a “Christian persecution” underway in Nigeria – and do so quoting the campaign – and they are known to be taking up the case directly with the White House to appoint the special envoy.

The American charity secured a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and has made presentations to the US Commission on International Religious Freedom.

There is also a UK and European angle of the Campaign, which is more opaque than its US sister campaign – given there is less legal requirement for public filings – but what is known of this at the moment is that their Budget is sufficient to hire four PR firms in the UK, Belgium, France and the US (the latter additional to the above).

They have founded an “NGO/Charity” and a linked web-based campaign named “Stop the Silent Slaughter” which is well designed and complete with video “evidence”-completely concocted.

Members of the alleged Christian NGO have had multiple Op-Ed articles in conservative news websites promulgating their message of a “Christian Genocide”. Some of those articles have also been used as “evidence” in the sister US campaign.

Two of those conservative news websites were co-founded by the owner of the UK PR firm they have hired to generate their publicity as well as an OP-Ed article in the name of a British MP who may have been convinced by their campaign under false pretences.

They have secured additional coverage in France, EU and Germany.

They secured a MPs debate on the “Christian Genocide” in the House of Commons in which staff member of the UK PR was referenced as the “private secretary” to the leader of the UK-based Charity.

It is clear from all of the above that the IPOB’s extraordinarily and dubiously well-funded campaign in the US and UK/Europe is misusing the issue of the welfare of Christians purely to further their own political ends, and it seeks to damage inter-religious dialogue in Nigeria as well as to damage the international reputation of Nigeria.

Nigerians and the international community are hereby advised to ignore this campaign as they have disregarded similar past campaigns originated by this group which has been designated as a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian State.

International groups and societies are welcome to send representatives to Nigeria and give a lie to the false claims made by these terrorist groups who are duping them of their money and involving them in conduct and activities disguised to destroy the harmonious relationships existing between their home countries and Nigeria.

The Presidency should then spend $95,000 dollars to discredit IPOB.
Better still, spend $0(zero dollars) but give good governance to Nigeria. IPOB will have nothing to say.

Everything IPOB said about Nigerian FG is sadly true!

Other Igbo businesses that want to export their products should consider building their main plant in other West African countries.

The same way Air Peace should seriously consider partnering with other African countries Airlines to grow its international links. If Air Peace partners and flies under the banner of Air Gambia for instance, it will profit both the country and help the airline get access to several countries. Air Peace can also simply register and establish as an airline in other West African countries.

Any big Igbo business that stays in Nigeria and base 100% of their business in Nigeria, life will be snuffed out of them eventually through deliberate Nigerian Federal government policies to destroy them - GUARANTEED!

The entire farmland between Nsukka to Enugu is infested with new Fulani herdsmen camps! There are actually more than 83 such camps counted so far. These villagers are in grave danger with these exploding Fulani herdsmen settlements.
The girls and women in these villages are in even greater danger of rape and murder.
