Some videos of Anambra International Airport Tower. An insider working with the construction company had to manage to get these videos of the internal works ongoing at the Tower building.

The Tower building should be around 10 storey(height) by now. International airports of international standards have tall Tower buildings like the one being built in Anambra international airport.

The Tower building is being cast all through in line with the international best practices. My contact on the inside promised to get video/pictures of the Terminal Building soon.

Airports are super capital intensive that even rich western countries can develop them in one single swing. The development of airports are phased over so many years so that the resources generated through operation of the airports are ploughed into upgrading of the infrastructure at the airport. To develop this airport to its full specification, the development must be phased over a few years. The Phase 1 is the very important to get it operational and begin to generate resources that can be used for its further development.

Phase 1: By April 2021: Completion of 3.5KM Runway, 12 stories high Control Tower and Basic terminal building
Operational capability: Daylight domestic flights

Phase 2: By December 2025: Completion of Taxiway, Permanent Passenger and Cargo terminals, Installation of Cat 2 ILS and Airfield lighting system. Completion of aviation fuel depot at the airport linked by pipeline to Orient Modular refinery.
Operational capability: Night landing, International Flights, Major aviation fuel facility for the West African sub-region.

Phase 3: By December 2050: Completion of the second parallel runway and taxiways. Expansion of the Passenger and Cargo terminal to full capacity.
Operational capability: More international airlines use the airport as a regional transit hub for continental flights.

They should plant trees on both sides of the road to make the drive to and from the airport scenic and impressive for visitors, investors and tourists coming into the state. Also, world class route signage should be included in the construction.
GBAM!

I hope they take the scenery and environment very very seriously. We always focus on the physical construction and forgetting that it's because we failed to plant trees and flowers that make our projects always look third world in appearance. Now is a good time for massive planting of trees Especially palm trees and coconut trees that are native to the area. Its also part of ensuring food security to use economic trees for beautification.

Even the parking lot area inside the airport should have lots of palm trees & coconut trees and other trees to create a scenic environment.

Fela sang Water from United Nations in a country that is situated by the Ocean.
It will still go to abject poorest.

The issue is that the way Nigeria is managed by one man breeds terrible corruption in a country infested with tribalism. Devolution of power is the only way to manage such a huge country with appropriate checks and balances.

Nigeria should be managed like United States of America, which is a similar big and diverse country that needs proper checks and balances to ensure the resources aren't stolen by a few people. Our forefathers knew this and started a federal system of government. Which was bastardized by the military juntas. Then Buhari regime is also trying to kill the last vestiges of federalism using obnoxious bills to accumulate more powers around one man ~the president.

Unfortunately, those benefiting from the central control of everything want to even control air and water from the center. The result will be insurgency which will gradually build into a major civil war that Nigeria could never survive as one entity. Worse still is that Nigeria does not have the resources to fund a civil war today.

The obssession with the bridge is legendary. Infact, apart from helping you cut through upper Iweka traffic and perhaps help open up the Atani/Obosi swamp by passing a road over it, the bridge cannot add anymore to people's lives.

Again while thanking everyone building the bridge from President Buhari to the laborers used by Julius Berger, the biggest THANK YOU must go to the United States that initially refused to release the Abacha loot to Nigeria until it was mentioned that the money will be invested in building the second niger bridge. Which they can easily observe and verify. If the Americans did not insist on seeing a project for the loot, the bridge would have since been abandoned after the loot was released to the FG of Nigeria.

International airport of international standards sure for we ndi Anambra April next year by God's grace
If they get the control tower & the runway right, the rest such as tarmac, taxiway and terminal building can easily be built and perfected over time.

The terminal building can be built in phases so that the first phase is a small building that basically allows the airport to begin operations as soon as the runway and tower are ready.

Gradual improvements over time with building the permanent imposing edifice of the final terminal building and completion of the taxiways can be done gradually as the airport is in operation and continues to develop. Similar to how Uyo airport started operations with the Runway, Control tower and a temporary terminal building. But today has completed the airport taxiways, and now working on the permanent superstructure of the final terminal building.

Our Airport is Newer and Bigger Than Yours Though a White Elephant

Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika

THE PUBLIC SPHERE
With Chido Nwakanma

The Akanu Ibiam Airport in Enugu was in the news again this week for the wrong reasons. Indications are that the 30 August 2020 date scheduled for its reopening may not materialise given the situation on the ground. It got worse Wednesday 12 August 2020 as Citizen John Emejulu, an architect and developer, vandalised the fence of the airport to establish his claim to part of the land forcefully.

One error soon built on the first. Aviation Minister Hadi Sarika visited the site of the destruction of 2kms of fencing and declared a fatwa on Emejulu. He stated: “This will certainly be the end of this kind of recklessness. We will not forgive him. The Chief of Staff will direct all that is involved in this kind of arrangement, the Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the DSS (Department of State Services) to do the needful and bring him to book.

“I am incredibly sad. It is very wrong, and we must seize the opportunity and deal with him summarily to serve as a deterrent to others. We are not in the Banana Republic. We are in a federal republic governed by laws. Certainly, this is not acceptable, and we are capable of rising in defence of national assets.”

The Enugu State Government then turned it into a farce on Friday morning. Officials of the ENSG descended on and destroyed the home of Mr Emejulu with all his properties in it. It reminded of the destruction of Odin in Bayelsa State by soldiers that then-President Olusegun Obasanjo sent to avenge the killing of two soldiers.

Emejulu acted with impunity even as he had a court judgement in his favour. He did not seek peaceful means of getting value for the judgement. But what about the state government? Should petulance and vindictiveness be part of state policy and reaction to the misdeed of a citizen?
Minister Sirika is optimistic that the Federal Government and its contractors will finish the repair works and redevelopment of the Enugu Airport. It will be a surprise most pleasing to citizens who use the airport. Significantly, it will be a political positive for the PMB administration as the matter of the redevelopment of the Akanu Ibiam Airport has assumed an intense political dimension. It has taken one year to fix the Akanu Ibiam airport. Groups in the South East compare the development with similar airport closures at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja and the Kaduna Airport, and they feel short-changed. Both Abuja and Kaduna Airports took shorter duration to fix. The fifth international gateway in Nigeria should reopen in September, so the businesses and citizens can recoup their losses.
Airports are topical in the states of the South East. Three states have embarked on airport projects with varying degrees of project implementation. These are Abia, Anambra and Ebonyi. The governors of the states speak with confidence about the desirability even imperative of the airports.

The project execution model for the Abia State airport is a hermaphrodite otherwise clothed in the garb of a Public-Private Partnership. Government has forcefully acquired lands in Ngwaland and Ikwuano and Olokoro, Umuahia. Governor Theodore Orji commenced the project. Current governor Okezie Ikpeazu swears by the project and has appointed an Abia Airport Project Team with Chief Philip Orjiako as chairman. In March 2020, Ikpeazu said he looked towards breaking grounds in April so he could realise the project before his administration expires.
Orji, his predecessor, made similar audio proclamations before he left. Okezie is a governor that has failed to complete a simple flyover in Aba over four years or to cleanse the rot in the state’s most central city waxing on the more elaborate and expensive project of building an airport.

Project execution is the robust suite of Ebonyi State governor Engineer David Umahi. He has demonstrated competence in delivering infrastructure in the state, some needful and others futuristic, such as the International Market in Abakaliki that is mostly empty.
Abakiliki is 75km from Enugu, just a drive of an hour and twenty minutes. It is a whistle-stop from the Akanu Ibiam Airport. Enugu Airport is one of the under-utilised airports run by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria. Ego more than economic viability must be the principal driver of the construction of this airport.

Governor Willie Obiano is similarly committed to the building of an airport in Anambra State. Or so he has claimed for three years since he unveiled the project in April 2017. Like Abia, construction of the Umueri International Cargo Airport is under a PPP arrangement. Anambra Airport City Infrastructures Limited oversees the project and has allocated 75 per cent equity to Elite International Investments, 20 per cent to Orient Petroleum Resources Limited and five per cent to Anambra State Government. The initial claim was that Chinese firm Sinoking International would build the airport at no cost to the state government. It was audio.

Anambra budgeted N6b for the airport in 2020 while work commenced in late 2019. Note that Asaba Airport is 31.7km from the proposed Umueri Airport while Owerri is 92km away and Enugu is 103km away by road.

Records of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) shows that most airports in Nigeria are loss-makers. The People’s Airport in Owerri is one of the loss-makers. Built on a strong wave of populism and anger at marginalisation, the zeal of the people has not manifested in patronage at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport. It generated a revenue of N1.25b over the three-years 2017-2019 but spent N2.50b., losing N1.42b. Margaret Ekpo International Airport Calabar incurred a deficit of N1.94b.

Akanu Ibiam Airport consistently ranks fifth in the country in passenger traffic. It stood at 342 000 in 2018. It is grossly underutilised as is the one at Owerri.

Are these airports necessary or justified? The South East does not need more airports. Not at least for another ten years until there is an increase in traffic and better use of the two airports in the region. Passenger traffic is a function of the level of economic activities. Here is an area that the records show attracts the least FDI because of the failings of government now expending resources wrongly.

There are competing priorities. They include the absence of world-class facilities for healthcare, education, and even potable water in the cities of the South East. There is no pipe-borne water in Enugu or Onitsha, for instance. As the world races steadily online, one would expect a programme to ensure that the states of the South East embrace digital in all its ramifications including equipping the youths of the region, making schools digital compliant and running governments on a digital platform.

White elephant refers “to an extravagant, impractical gift” that becomes a burden. The phrase is said to come from the historical practice of the King of Siam (now Thailand) giving rare albino elephants to courtiers who had displeased him so that the animals’ upkeep costs might ruin them,” the dictionary says.
The South East does not need the white elephant of airport projects. The governors should find other signature projects for their egos.
[/s]

Why Yorubas have sleepless nights about airport projects or seaport in the southeast never ceases to amaze me. The same silly crap Yorubas wrote about zero need Imo airport and Asaba airport, they are doing for Anambra International Cargo airport.

If Anambra airport is being built with Anambra money, why are people that hate Anambra and Igbos so much more pained than the Anambra people using their money??

The funny part is that Gombe state built an airport, Jigawa state built airports and even Bauchi state built a new one, after the old "non-performing" one was too expensive to repair! You never hear these people utter a word, but when it's the southeast doing what has been denied of them by the FG, the Yorubas are falling over themselves "advising" Igbos on what is a good way to invest in the area! The answer is that they know this airport is different than all the others they have tried in vain to compare with it. They know being so close to Onitsha and perhaps will finally be known as Anambra International airport, Onitsha, this airport has fantastic indicators for massive growth quickly. They also know that Onitsha business people often use Lagos airport and by now you get the drift?

The airport was approved, the Anambra state government in spite of all hardship has decided to do whatever it takes to build it. So leave them to do what makes their state grow. Nobody is criticizing Dangote refineries in Lagos using similar silly arguments that underperforming refineries exist in Port harcourt, Warri and Kaduna, therefore Dangote's refinery in Lagos will underperform. Everyone knows that refinery is different. Same with the Anambra International Cargo airport.
PoliticsRe: Why Do FG Shut Down All Refineries Few Months To Dangote Refinery Commission ? by ChimaAdeoye: 12:56pm On Sep 11, 2020
Whiteangel1234:
Dangote Group has announced that its refinery would be commissioned by the end of first half in 2021.

Seems the coast is now clear for Dangote to take over Monopoly of Fuel supply in Nigeria just like cement from first half of 2021

Buhari is the best President for the North in terms of business from banning milk importation to help Fulani's herdsmen to total monopoly of Refinery .
Any business a Fulani man joins, they will shut down other competitors to give the Fulani man a monopoly. Then he will jack up the prices of the commodity like Nigerian cement costing more than cement produced anywhere in the world!
PoliticsRe: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by ChimaAdeoye:
OreMI22:
You are right.

All he needs to do is reserve enough area for future expansion. Around the world, airports are built in phases. Till date, the Newark international airport terminal building continues to be increased and more runways being built.

All Obiano needs for a takeoff of the airport is one good runway of 3.5 KM by 60 meters, a good control tower and basic terminal building like Uyo international airport terminal building. Infact, since more than 10 years of Uyo international airport operating, they are only recently begining to construct the main terminal building. Also, Uyo airport taxiway was completed many years after the airport became operational.

Then the rest of the taxiway, permanent terminal building, cargo warehouses and other facilities will continue to be added as the airport develops.
Gbam!

Even till date, the Lilongwe (Kamuzu Banda) International airport has not completed its taxiway and the Gaborone International airport (Sir Seretse Khama Airport) just completed its final terminal building and taxiway it built for decades.

Both major airports in southern Africa had a 3.5 KM by 60M runway, control tower and very modest terminal building. Thus they safely received flights by Jumbo jets from America, Asia and Europe for many decades.

A good international airport main requirement is a concrete-base with asphalt overlay runway of atleast 3.5KM by 60M, control tower and a basic building to process arrivals and departures. The initial terminal building can even be a bungalow and it will become the cargo terminal in the future when the final terminal building. Good spacious glassy terminal buildings are just for the comfort of the passengers and prestige which can be added in time.

OreMI22:
True analysis!

The only problem is that our people vehemently prefer to use airporrs outside our region on the most frivolous excuses. Its so difficult to explain to our people that they help create good jobs, reduce crime and generally raise the quality of life in the region by simply using airports in the southeast for international travel and return. In essence, the money they pay in hotels lodging, taxis, food after landing in Lagos and Abuja are losses for businesses in the east. No wonder businesses in our region rarely thrive and our youths must run to Lagos or Abuja to eke out a living.

Again, our governors should encourage private investors to set up fun activities in the state capitals. You will notice that our people only stay in their villages during their visit snd then fly to Lagos or Abuja to spend an extra week visiting fun places like amusement parks, water parks, conservation centers, art centers, zoo, museums , decently planned readymade African dress and decorative art markets etc. The lack of these facilities make it impossible for our people to have fun and spend their resources while in our state to support the local economy.
The Indian states of Goa and Maharashtra are living examples of how the people can develop their local economy through using their own facilities.

Ndigbo as a people have learned to complain a lot about what we are denied, but will do next to nothing to support their own local economy. Even when it will cost them nothing to do so. Except being smart with how they spend their money. An average Fulani man that lives in Kano, Katsina Sokoto etc, will travel via Kano airport and not Lagos, Abuja or Enugu. But an average Igboman will even go and be dragging Kano airport with fulanis and avoid facilities in their zone.

A good example is their insistence on using Lagos for all their international travels and tourism. While neglecting their own region. They often say, but our region does not have this or that! The question i always ask them is to compared Lagos and Accra Ghana today. Accra has a more modern airport and the city of Accra has many more fun places than Lagos. How many Yorubas have decided to land in Accra enroute their region because Accra has a better airport than Lagos? If Yorubas will still use lagos airport despite it's hell-hole stressful reality than the new Kotoka International airport, Accra with the best modern amenities, then Igbos should clearly understand what is being said here.

If a Cameroonian wants to visit Cameroon, he does not go via landing in Lagos or Abuja because it has better facilities than Yaounde or Doula airports! He understands that despite Cameroonian airports having less choice of airlines and infrastructure than airports in Lagos or Abuja, somehow it falls on ordinary citizens like him to ensure their facilities remain afloat and support their local economy. The reason why those secretly plotting to force Igbos to abandon their region, and flock like flies to other regions always succeed is that we LOVE to utilize the slightest excuses for abandoning our own facilities and region. We must change that negative attitude towards our region and our facilities, if Alaigbo must prosper and grow.

Truly, I would NEVER contribute towards arming IPOB under Nnamdi Kanu. He is an unserious clown with severe mental issues. nnamdi Kanu cannot think strategically. He would rather embezzle and waste the money or turn the group into a bunch of hoodlums robbing and killing innocent Igbos in their villages rather than protect them. nnamdi Kanu is out to look out for his welfare and not for welfare of those Biafran youths dying for him.

There is a reason why nnamdi Kanu attacks serious tested and trusted Biafran freedom fighters like Alhaji Asari Dokubo. Nnamdi Kanu is a fraud and knows he is deceitfully trying to live off the people's donations rather than fight for freedom. So, he would find a reason to discredit those he knows would seriously fight for Biafra's freedom.

If Nnamdi Kanu wanted to arm IPOB rather than the clownish distraction of finding out if Buhari's ears had scars or not. or if Buhari's shoes were still size 8 or size 9 to prove he is Jubril, he would have since got the funds or weapons he wanted. Every Nigerian today must strive to acquire their own guns for self defense. It is the ONLY thing that can keep you alive in Nigeria.

A judicial panel of inquiry set up by either the state or federal government is required to quickly douse this growing tension.

I know Buhari does not think this will affect Nigeria, but in the end it will. There are already talk of revenge against fulanis who are the tribes of those soldiers that did the massacre. We know in Nigeria once one ethnic group is killed, there is retaliatory killing in other parts of Nigeria which will lead to even more violence.

A judicial panel of inquiry in needed as this point to give some type of justice to those who were killed and punish those who escalated a minor situation that tear gas or arrests could have solved instead of opening fire on a bunch of unarmed civilians. Those who think this issue will merely go away are mistaken.

I'm loving that a lot of young people in the southeast are now proudly vlogging their towns and cities to the world!

It is no longer an exclusive preserve of residents of Lagos or Abuja. Unlike in the past when it was nearly impossible to see any picture of southeast cities on the internet talkmore of seeing videos, today you can actually see less than 1 week old videos of every major city city in the southeast. Infact, in the past when i searched "Nigeria" on youtube, only Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt came up as cities with videos on youtube. Today, southeast cities are well known cities worldwide due to abundance of these videos.

Guys, biko lets support these new vloggers by subscribing whenever you come across their channels, to encourage them in the awesome work that they are doing. Subscription is free but will help encourage them to carry on with the good work. This girl actually got on a bike to do a voice-over tour of Nnewi city for us! It's really a commendable effort to do these using whatever little resources they have.

Please the minimum level of decency is to give credits to people who you are using their works.

The video where you extracted the clips was made by EBOH MEDIA.

Please give credits to the guy at the barest minimum and not try to steal his works as your own. I personally know the guy and he is not the same as Anambra 1st son.
I actually thought they were same, but i realized Eboh Media is from Imo state but lives in Onitsha. I remember someone asked him that question in the comments section of one of his videos and he said he was not Anambra 1st son, but he knew who Anambra 1st son was.

I like that guy's effort showcasing Igbo towns, Universities, markets etc. That guy deserves chilled beer if i see him. I think folks should subscribe to his channel as a token of appreciation for the wonderful job he is doing.

I have never heard of police killing herdsmen or bandits, bokoharam members are reintegrate back into the society after killing so many people isn't it so obvious that Nigeria is no longer safe for Igbos is it until it turns a full scale ethnic war?where is ohaneze Ndiigbo, where are our lawmakers and representatives?

Bokoharam and bandits can be brought to the round table but ipob are devils right.

Is just a matter of time Gods judgement will visit Nigeria soon..

When IPOB begins to value the opinion of other Igbos. Right now, IPOB is truly on its own for publicly insulting every Igboman today except Arthur Eze.

They should go to Arthur Eze to continue giving them money to ridicule themselves in public.

I really don't get it,how can someone sit behind his computer and be endagering same people he claimed of fighting for..

How can you face security officers that are armed with teeth against sticks? Which kind of redundant bravery is that?

IPOB as a group is currently proscribed by FG as a terrorist group ( Nonsense from FG to start with)

It is on record that the Nigeria security officers are animal in human skin, so why continue daring them?
