Red Alert!!! Villages between Nsukka - Enugu are in severe danger of being attacked and massacred! More than 60 new Fulani herdsmen settlement have been counted clearly via satellite imagery. Go to your google earth now and see these exploding herdsmen territory for yourself in these areas identified with yellow thumbnails! Governor Ugwuanyi should be made aware of these growing new illegal settlements on people's farms and places mapped out for building residential estates. Why can't these people join the other legitimate Fulani livestock dealers in the designated cattle markets etc, instead of hiding in people's farms in the bush and building new permanent Fulani villages in people's farms? What is their true intention? Is this their RUGA through the back door and unannounced on TV, while they quietly annex people's villages under the pretext of being nomadic herdsmen? Meanwhile, they are building new permanent structures on people's land! You can clearly see the herdsmen are now building permanent structures illegally on people's farms and forcefully occupying them. There is every intention for a bloody conflict with the villagers now that Miyetti Allah plans to even arm them more than they already are. 8 Likes

I am hoping that the entire South East Govenors stop doing 1 - 2 years developmental plan and do 5 - 10 years developmental plan. In that way, they will look into the future and try to build cities that will stand the test of time. Not always demolishing one old stuff in an already choked up old part of town and try to rebuild in the same old parts of town. Remember Chief Michael Okpara did the same thing in Enugu. Instead of building in already choked up parts of coal camp, he developed brand new areas as Independence Layout, even when he knew he would not readily have the money to actualize it. But once you layout the new area, successive regimes will tow the line and develop it. Same thing as Abuja that we all see today. Let us dream big like the Ebonyi Governors and launch totally modern cities in Igboland that future generations would be proud that we started. Today, we all like Abuja, but Murtala Muhammed and Obasanjo dreamt about a new modern capital for Nigeria and set out to implement it on virgin land. As opposed to the current idea of building in slums and demolishing already built up parts of the old city and calling it "development". 5 Likes |

Great kudos to Governor Dave Nweze Umahi and the great leaders of Ebonyi state. Abakaliki is totally poised to become the most modern city in Nigeria in a few years time. Following a similar developmental plan of Abuja, whereby you set out an area and purpose build it into a planned modern city. Not the usual third world chaotic crap of Nigerian cities. This is the boldness to recreate Abuja and i respect them for this! This is exactly the development pattern I expected for many years of my own state capital ~ Awka. Whereby a large area / virgin land in Agu Awka is surveyed and gradually developed with well paved roads and places for critical development infrastructure including stadium, residential areas, public parks, industrial areas etc are well marked out. Instead of the current method of haphazard third world style development we see today. I am so happy for the great vision and determination of Ebonyi leaders to make Abakaliki only second to Abuja in modernity. All Abakaliki needs now are attracting more industries and building a small airport to easily connect it to major cities of Nigeria by air to facilitate movement of investors and top business executives. Digitron:Although i am all for development and creating great tourist attractions such as development of a world-class park at the Okpara Square. However, I am hoping that our history isn't being erased by renaming Okpara square to be called "Unity" square. it is obvious that many now see Chief M.I. Okpara as an Abian instead of an indomitable Igboman that invested all his time and energy in developing a capital city for igboland. Tomorrow, they will change the name "Akanu Ibiam" International airport to "United Nigeria" International airport. Erasing Igbo history from Enugu simply diminishes the status of Enugu as Igbo capital. Indeed, this makes Enugu no less important than Ohafia. It's like the first son of a family deciding to do away with the family surname. Unfortunately, the Nigerian census is so fake that no reasonable person can rely on them to say if a place should be a city or a town. In Medieval times, Cottage, Macedonia, Greece, Timbuctu were all cities due to the population of people living in it. I understand you. But you know we live with people who love to twist your words and threads. In a few months, they will begin to cite your thread in their lame effort to say Igboland is a village, including Nnewi. horsepower102:My Oga, With due respect, I don't think calling Nnewi a village to city is an appropriate title for this thread. Please re-think the title of the thread again. Nnewi had been a city in the 1930s, with major secondary schools and provincial headquarters. Nnewi was already a city before cities such as Minna, Yola or Bauchi. Those cities are the places that deserve the title from village to state capital city. The only thing was that Nnewi never became a state capital and therefore was thoroughly neglected by successive Federal and Anambra state governments. Hopefully, the neglect of Nnewi will stop. But instead of the reconstruction, Reconciliation and Rehabilitation that Nigeria pledged, they turned to Repression, Marginalization, and Exclusion of the zone from the developmental projects of Nigeria. The same Nigeria has hurriedly set up Northeast Development commission and judiciously fund it, even when the damage by Boko Haram was not even close to the damage done to Southeast. But God dey. That is why I love videos like this. It simply says "Even with your repression, oppression, and marginalization, God on our side keeps us going and still makes us victorious!" Maadoo:Owerri needs to figure a way to make it accessible to international tourists, without the tourists needing to enter any local roads or airplanes to reach Owerri. Even if Owerri is a second stop destination in Nigeria for an international flight. In the way Lufthansa and Air France combines Port Harcourt - Abuja- Frankfurt/Paris. If international tourists can easily access Owerri by air, it would help the state government lucratively reap into the tourism potentials of the hotels, as well as help boost Nigeria's image as a major tourism destination in Africa. To begin with, I neither trust nor give too much significance to the dubious data from Nigerian Bureau statistics. No single academician in the world takes data coming out of Nigeria seriously. Everyone in the world knows Nigeria is painfully notorious for data falsification and forgery for political expediency. So, trust Nigerian data at your peril. Some people have set their evil eyes on Ebonyi politically and have an evil agenda for the state. The recent Ebonyi mall thread clearly shows how bitter and determined they are to employ propaganda against Ebonyi people as part of their wicked strategy against Ndigbo. Truth be told, many Nigerians especially those from the other two big ethnic groups would rather see the southeast as an undeveloped and backward jungle. Many of them actually agonize that despite the marginalization of southeast Nigeria in every possible way, the region has managed to continue to survive and develop! The Op forgot to post that Umahi built the largest and most modern market in Nigeria in the last 50 years! When Abuja was being built, there was still massive poverty in Nigeria! Yet, nobody argued that building Abuja rather than giving more money to Nigerians to alleviate poverty was a bad strategy. Abuja was once a barren forest and modern infrastructure was built there with the hope that one day it will have everything which was present in Lagos, thus people will go there to live and start a business. If i were president, I would target one region and punish them severely for voting the opposition. Then, I would turn around and say that I'm a reformed democrat and Nigerians should disregard those calling for the dissolution of the country due to marginalization by me.
