Politics › Re: Why Yorubas And Igbos Must Unite. by ChimaAdeoye: 2:03pm On Mar 24, 2013
Ikengawo: Yorubas are in Boko Haram. They're also celebrating the death of Chinua Achebe. They have also celebrated the malnutrition of igbo children during Biafra. Igbo people have nothing to gain from 'uniting' with Yoruba people because all of the ills the north is inflicting on Nigeria, Yoruba's have always agreed with them and been on their side. Tinubu is now asking for Boko Haram's amnesty, as are many Yoruba leaders and many northern leaders meaning these people will be paid for killing Igbos and except from the law. Yoruba are worst than Hausas because Hausas are inflicting the evil Yorubas want to inflict but are too cowardly to do themselves.
For the bolded, i agree with your view.
The originator of this thread is seriously naive or just silly.Over the years,I have observed the difference between a typical Igbo and Yoruba, and i have come to the conclusion that Igbo is boldly outspoken (sometimes naively)and result oriented. Thus, would dine with the devil himself if that is what it takes to produce results. Yoruba on the other hand is the exact opposite of Igbo character and a natural diplomat. Thus, it you would require a truth serum with a lie detector test machine to extract his true feelings or position on any issue at all.I think it is useless and naive for Igbo to trust Yoruba in any strategic political arrangement, even if Yoruba were the sole beneficiary of such.

Except for a few, a typical Yoruba don't understand the word integrity nor solidarity. Mind you, I'm yoruba by marriage, but i can confidently tell you that apart from my husband's people, i'm yet to come across a yoruba that isn't wholeheartedly anti-igbo and also committed anti-hausa, but just don't have the nerve to express their true feelings in your presence, except when you leave. Most of the yoruba internet warriors here will serve an Igbo friend delicious amala if you visit their homes. But the Igbo that hates yoruba here, will not even invite them to his home. That is the difference, and it is a critical difference when trust is at stake.
Politics › Re: Enugu State And High Cost Of Living by ChimaAdeoye: 1:37pm On Mar 24, 2013
Afam4eva: Isn't Achara layout also a high brow area? Btw, i'm not supporting the unnecessary hike in house rent, my anger is that these people are trying to blackmail landlords to give them special treatment because they relocated from the north. If they cannot afford the highbrow areas, there are other low cost places that they could go to.
We often ask, why can't Igbo in the north come home? This answers part of the question. The cost of living is higher in the SE than north.
The government must re-double its effort at Mass housing and provide more low cost estates without necessarily nurturing ghettos. Enugu must have new low cost housing layouts established around its satellite towns as Emene,9th Mile and towards Ituku.Land in these areas is still relatively cheap and the cost for construction of a one or two bedroom bungalow should not be much higher than the national average. Somehow, more decent houses must be provided for these returning Igbos and indeed other Nigerians leaving the north, especially from the middle belt tribes such as Igala,Idoma,Tiv etc who wish to live a decent life in the east.
Politics › Re: Was Awo Guilty Of War Crimes? by ChimaAdeoye: 5:21pm On Mar 21, 2013
cjrane: If his Yoruba kith and Kin Obasanjo and Oladipo Diya were pardoned for plotting coup, does Awo deserve pardon for plotting coups against Nigeria?
NO!
it's not only Yoruba that are coup plotters as you seem to suggest. But NO pardon should be given Awolowo! Awo committed suicide which is unpardonable in African tradition. He should have gone to jail as IBB was about to jail him, then calling on GEJ to forgive him would have made sense.

Politics › Re: Why Nigeria Should Remain United ? by ChimaAdeoye: 8:04pm On Feb 28, 2013
Becos we need northerners to use koboko rubbed with pepper to wire Igbo and Yoruba to unite and accept each other.
Unless Nigeria is united, these two great peoples will learn to respect themselves from realizing they actually need each other.
Politics › Re: Britain Warns Against Travel To Northern Nigeria After Islamist Raids by ChimaAdeoye: 4:24am On Feb 28, 2013
The British should simply shut up about Nigeria!
Every problem in Nigeria was deliberately created by the British to portray a black person as being incapable of self government and thus ridicule black man's demand for independence from Britain. France at least helps her former colonies.
Without France, there would have been no Mali today.
What has the British ever done to help Nigeria? Even intelligence gather by M15 about Boko Haram is not shared with Nigeria.
They should not warn against northern Nigeria, they should warn their citizens to leave Nigeria. PERIOD!
Politics › Re: Good Governance Tour Ill-conceived – Fashola by ChimaAdeoye: 4:16am On Feb 28, 2013
emmasege: Lagos generates more than 40 billion naira monthly. How's the forum in which he sang praise of himself different from the good governance tour. That's the FG's style of praising themselves and keeping govts at all levels on their toes. ACN would probably blow their trumpets louder if they were in power.
ACN is made up of a bunch of shamelessly dangerous hypocrites!
The same Babatunde Fashola that always screams Eko oni baje when ever he commissions a pit latrine, does not want somebody to verify his oni baje rant. SMH....

Anything good or good idea once it comes from the PDP, it must be condemned and discredited by ACN.
It is all a deliberately planned plot to discredit anything good by the PDP led Federal government.
The ACN governors should stop playing childish games and simply say their party had instructed them to sabotage the NGGT.
Politics › Re: I Was A Doctor In Nigeria, Now A Cleaner In Canada by ChimaAdeoye:
Nigeria is the only country that allow foreigners to come here and simply have their degree automatically recognized.Especially if they come from EU countries or north america. It is simply true that Canada and USA have a subtle racist policy secretly maintained by those operating the system in those countries to prevent foreign professionals especially if they are BLACK Africans from taking jobs reserved for their own people or other white immigrants from Europe.
Those foreign professional people will never be recognized with any degree earned outside north America! I know a Nigerian consultant pediatrician now forced to work as a nurse today in USA.Somehow he excelled in all the professional exams in Nigeria and suddenly is a dullard immediately he stepped inside USA. Yet, he teaches ALL the pediatric specialists in his hospital what to do with serious pediatric cases even while working as a nurse for them!
It is a closely guarded scandal with a lot of deceptive systematic steps designed to deceive a naive person to assume that a Nigerian consultant pediatrician somehow cannot pass American exams! It is a disheartening fact, no matter the heap of lies or excuses they may give those people. It is simply an economic matter. And some people in those countries will simply covertly reserve certain jobs for white people PERIOD. It's Sad but very true.
Politics › Re: Tour: Maku Visits Edo, Shuns Oshiomhole by ChimaAdeoye: 10:55pm On Feb 26, 2013
It was wrong and unwise for Oshiomhole to have declined receiving this body.Yes,you can decide not to pay for their visit, which is a sound argument, but making it impossible to inspect state projects is wrong.
We all have our opinions how Nigeria should be run, but if this tour have been going round the country to identify what the other governors are doing as well as federal projects in the states, Oshiomhole was wrong to have become so uncooperative and denied the people of Edo State the opportunity to ask questions and find out what was happening in the state. It all smacks of someone with skeletons in his cupboard desperately trying to hide something.Anyhow, the deed is done.
Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChimaAdeoye: 4:08am On Feb 26, 2013
Ikengawo: Why do we as Nigerians compare the national capitals of other countries to anything but our own national capital?
Kigali pass Abuja?
O'l boy don't be silly. How can you compare tiny Rwanda with a budget of mere $835 million dollars to Nigeria with a budget of more than $33 billion dollars?
Rwanda's budget is the equivalence of Nigerian states. That is why it is compared to our states that earn similar or slightly more amount of money.
Just like you cannot compare Nigeria directly to China with 1.3 billion people and a budget of $ 10 trillion dollars? But you can compare what Nigeria was able to achieve with $33 billion dollars and 167 million people to a region of China with similar budget and demographic.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VA20y54qBSk&playnext=1&list=PLvQkeYRiKdawWRDh2CIAPTliKMDFDcENC&feature=results_video

......... and just to put how rich Rwanda is in perspective,

The entire Rwandan 2013 national budget of $835 million dollars which converted into Nigerian Naira (N160 naira for $1) is a paltry N133.6 billion naira
It is MUCH LESS Than: many Nigerian state budgets.

Rivers State budget= N490 billion,Lagos = N497 Billion naira,Akwa Ibom = N 459 billion naira,
Kano= 235.3 Billion naira,Ogun = N 211.9 Billion naira,
Delta State= 398.3 Billion naira,Borno = 184 Billion,
Kaduna= N179 Billion naira, Ondo= N151 Billion naira, Oyo= N160 Billion,
Bayelsa= N285 Billion, Imo State= N 197 billion naira,Edo = 150 Billion naira
etc.

Yet, unlike Rwanda, all these states have no army, police or air force to fund or a population of 13 million people or diplomatic missions around the world, which Rwanda must cater for with just N 133 billion naira! In spite of that, Rwanda finds money to build shining cities to shame our so called Nigerian state capitals, even from states earning double Rwanda's national income!

Politics › Re: Prepare To Pay More For Electricity – FG Tells Nigerians by ChimaAdeoye: 6:54pm On Feb 22, 2013
WE DON'T WANT BILLING SYSTEM!!!

WE WANT PRE-PAID RECHARGE CARD SYSTEM !!!!

In billing system, the officials will just send you an "estimated" bill, whether you used it or not.
But the pre-paid recharge card system, you use whatever amount of credits you have left in your card.
And you can control how you use electricity if you know you have a little amount left in your card.

Please nobody should misunderstand me. Afterall, i'm half Igbo myself.Just wondering in my mind why anywhere you have two or more Ibos, one of them wants to be called Eze Ndigbo. There is Eze Ndigbo in every town in Niger Republic and Mali. I won't be surprised if there are some in hell.
^^^Well i don't know about other governors, but our lot in the south east (especially Orji and Obi) don't have time for all that flower, grass and tree planting 'nonsense'; just check out major cities like Onitsha, Nnewi, Awka, and Aba.
To begin with, the median of all our intra-city roads can be planted with the aesthetic palm or pine trees.

Roundabouts and sculptures beautified with colorful cherry flowers that can be cut into a definite shape. That would almost instantaneously change the scenery for the better.
Politics › Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by ChimaAdeoye: 12:19am On Dec 25, 2012
ezeagu: I agree with everything you said, except there's no land problem, yet, except in a few places. The problem we have is that Nigerians believe that development is getting rid of every bush and paving over every forest which is why the Polo park mall has no park, even though this mall could have been built anywhere else.

I think there's a need to worry about the environment since there's no kind of protection or conservation of it in Nigeria. The highrises is definitely a good idea, although if this is not done properly it may turn into a ghetto like Hillbrow in Johannesberg.
You are exactly correct 100%. Our people believe development is clearing every vegetation and paving concrete over it. I once planted some flowers around my husband's home/ compound and people said i was bringing "bush" closer to home. They eventually convinced my husband and paved the ground with concrete instead of the beautiful flower garden.

In 2011, i was in Nairobi and my job also sent me to Kigali,Rwanda this year. I was amazed how they used flowers and trees to adorn their streets and highways! Inspite of being infrastructurally behind Lagos, Nigeria, those cities exude an ambience of fresh air and well beign, unlike in Nigeria.Kigali particularly reminded me of Enugu, but the difference was the many flowers, trees and green grass everywhere. The difference between our concept of beautiful city without flowers was clearly evident when i was in East Africa. Our city planners must begin to incoporate the adequate use of flowers and trees to beautify our cities. Enugu and Abuja are perhaps the only Nigerian cities where this new concept can begin to take hold.
Politics › Re: Would You Support Military Take Over by ChimaAdeoye: 10:11pm On Dec 24, 2012
Sincere 9gerian: The hausa-fulanis hope that by using boko haram to kill and bomb innocent civilians to death on a daily basis, there will be continuous public outcry like we see on the streets today and on the social media. Subsequently, they'll capitalise on such outcry to stage a COUP. Most likely, they'll carry out the coup in the background and present us with a STOOGE as head of state and replace the 36 state governors with loyalists. The STOOGE may be another person from the Niger delta or someone from the middle belt to DOUSE TENSION. After some time and once PUBLIC ANGER DIES DOWN, the face of REAL coup plotters(the hausa-fulani solder) will then emerge, seize power and replace the 36 state governors with another set of loyalists but this time mostly one-sided in favour of hausa-fulanis. Of course we had passed this road before. Besides this happened recently in Mali. All the hausa-fulani intends to do is to cut and paste what happened in Mali with little modifications to DOUSE public tension, like I stated above. Part of the grouse of hausa-fulanis with GEJ is that apart from not being a hausa-fulani, they had no hand in his ascent to the number one seat. Since after the civil war, the hausa-fulanis have had to decide for the whole nation who should be the president or head of state at any time, irrespective of whether the person is hausa-fulani or not. Look back in history and CONFIRM this trend. But for the first in decades the BORN-TO-RULE people had no hand in how a president emerged. This last time this happened in 1966, the country ended up in a civil war, which the hausa-fulanis didn't mind provided it gets them back to power directly or indirectly. The events of 1966 is playing out again, unfolding before our very eyes. The events that happened recently in Mali is playing out in Nigeria. But ONE IMPORTANT message I learnt from the Mali experience and which the rest of Nigeria should take NOTE is that before the Mali coup, some Malians taught the islamic onslaught in the north of their country was because of the 'incompetence or weakness' of the president at that time, LIKEWISE some Nigerians think that the current boko haram/hausa-fulani onslaught is because of 'incompetence or weakness' of GEJ. But after the coup in Mali, the islamic militants effectively COMPLETED their onslaught and took FULL CONTROL of northern Mali, thereby CONFIRMING that the inability to crush the ISLAMIC militants was no fault of the former president but simply dueto lack of capacity by the Malian military to deal with the situation.
The only missing point in their plan is that Nigeria is not Mali nor Niger Republic. So the coup in Mali resulted in begging the coupists to hand over,in Nigeria the result will be very very different.

May i add that those that rely on British supplied guns and weapons to suppress popular dissent in the country like they received in the last civil war, will be disappointed this time around.Britain will not only decline such clandestine arms assistance, but they are incapable of doing so in the new world order.

demmy: MΩRON, the story posted here is fake. 21 people were not killed in Ogun as your fake biafra news alleged. The correct news which we already knew about since Friday is 1 farmer killed. The criminal fulani perpetrators had disappeared into neighbouring Benin republic. We are not like you and them to go on reprisal attacks killing innocent people. We are not you. Get it?
Nobody expects a coward to fight back but to make a thousand excuses for his shameful nature. The Herdsmen are still in Ogun, not Benin Republic as you would have us believe. In any case, i certainly don't subscribe to killing of innocent Nigerians anyway. But you cowardly refused to accept the news published in every Nigerian newspaper. In a typical ostrich character, you claimed in futility that you had not seen it, even though you had read it already. grin grin grin
