Amina Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General revealed that a woman will replace President Buhari in 2023 while speaking at the Mo Ibrahim governance weekend in Abidjan.The former Minister of Environment and UN Deputy Secretary-General who was asked when Nigeria will have a female president, said in response that by 2023, a woman will replace President Buhari. She replied by  saying: “2023, Insha Allah”.

When asked if she would be running, she said: “Look, all of my life has been as a public servant and as one that serves, so that is not a problem for me.

The management of  Lagos State University, LASU has  stated that Prof. Peter Okebukola has only one date of birth as it countered claims that its staff and former National University Council Secretary has three different dates of birth.The Coordinator, LASU Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations, Mr Ademola Adekoya who disclosed that Okebukola has one date of birth, added that the records of the professor in LASU’s possession puts it at February 17, 1951.

He further revealed that Okebukola joined the services of LASU after transferring his service from the then Oyo State College of Education in Ilesa and the date of birth on his record of service forwarded to the university by his former employer was February 17, 1951.

“However, the Lagos State Government on January 5, 2016 promulgated a new law extending the retirement age of professors to 70 years while other academic members of staff who are not of professorial cadre and non-teaching members of staff had their retirement age reviewed upwards to 65 years. (Section 42:1 a, b and c LASU Amended Law, 2016).“It is instructive to note that aside Prof. Peter Okebukola, five academic and 20 non-teaching members of staff including those on terminal leave also benefited from the provisions of this law" he stated.

Patoranking who spoke about his career, his success story and challenges so far in the music industry, disclosed that he would have been a footballer.In an interview with Kore Ogidan of Punch, Patoranking who admitted he enjoys making music and also glad for the opportunity to practise what he loves, added that he would have been a footballer because he loves the round leather game.

You seem to have changed from the patois sound to other flavours of music. What is the motive behind this?

I have not necessarily changed my sound. As an artist paints with different colours to create different images, so do I try out new flavours and sounds to illustrate different things to my fans. Music will always be a universal language; it depends on what message one is trying to pass.

If you didn’t opt for music, what other career would you have chosen?

I would have been a footballer. I love the round leather game and it would have been a second calling for me. However, I enjoy making music and I am glad for the opportunity to practise what I love.

You will be five years in the music industry soon. What special package do you have for your fans to celebrate?

My album is one of my anniversary packages. I also have something specially planned but I will not reveal what it is now until the time is right. You will all find out later.

The National Centre for Disease Control, has confirmed that Lassa fever that resurfaced in Nigeria has killed 121 people in three months.It was further gathered that two people recently died of Lassa fever in Bauchi and Taraba states, and 16 new cases were recorded in Edo, Ondo, Bauchi, Taraba, and Plateau states between March 25 and 31. The NCDC who confirmed that Lassa fever has killed 121 people in three months in its report, said;

“From January 1 to March 31, 2019, a total of 2,034 suspected cases have been reported from 21 states. Of these, 526 were confirmed positive, 15 probable and 1,693 negative. Since the onset of the 2019 outbreak, there have been 121 deaths in confirmed cases. Case fatality ratio in confirmed cases is 23 per cent.

“Edo, Ondo, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Ebonyi, Plateau, Taraba, FCT, Adamawa, Gombe, Kaduna, Kwara, Benue, Rivers, Kogi, Enugu, Imo, Delta, Oyo, Kebbi and Cross River have recorded at least one confirmed case across 81 local government areas.“A total of 6, 489 contacts have been identified from 20 states, of this number, 1,443 cases are  being followed up, 4,983 cases have completed 21 days follow up while 112 symptomatic contacts have been identified.”

He said; “Everybody has his or her time. If people say I have not been ‘buzzing’ like I used to when I first came out, I would tell them that it is almost impossible for anybody to stay on top of the industry for such a long time. Kingsley Moghalu, the presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP) has stated that Nigerian youths made noise on 'overrated' social media but didn't vote in the 2019 election. Kingsley Moghalu who assessed the 2019 election, blamed his 'woeful'  performance on Nigerian youths who according to him made noise on 'overrated' social media but didn't vote. The economist turned politician also berated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its "chaotic operations" that gave room for a lot of electoral irregularities. He also alleged that the 2019 elections were heavily militarized and marred by "an orgy of vote-buying, rigging, vote-suppression and violence".

He said; "As for the youth, they made much noise on the overrated social media but did not vote in their numbers in 2019.  Many young people also succumbed to the ability-to-win argument, leading the charge for the old establishment candidates. Some were discouraged by the failure of the new generation alternatives to produce a consensus candidate in a coalition. That's a lame excuse. Coalitions are not formed by force or at gunpoint. Only candidates truly willing to form a coalition (which is very different from "forming" the desire for one) can do so. 

"Behaving as if anyone owed them a coalition or consensus candidate was therefore a cop-out from having to make an informed democratic choice. They should instead have voted for the "youth" candidate of their choice.""From several states around the country we received credible reports that votes cast for the Young Progressives Party (YPP), my party platform for the 2019 elections, were being diverted," he claimed.

Algeria’s President Abdelaziz Bouteflika who has been in power for 20 years has resigned following  weeks of mass protests, state media report.Algeria’s President resigned after a powerful Algerian army called for him to be declared incapable of carrying out his duties. 82-year-old Bouteflika had suffered a stroke six years ago and has rarely appeared in public since.

Chidinma has demanded an apology from City FM OAP Benny Ark, over claims of Kizz Daniel's hit song 'Fvck You' being about her. Recall we reported earlier today the City FM OAP claimed that the song had so many emotional lyrics, and he backed his claims of the song being about Chidinma with offline and online points.

However following the controversy which trailed the claims, Chidinma through her lawyer Ayo Shonaiya, demanded an apology from OAP Benny Ark over claims of 'Fvck You' song being about her. According to the singer, the claims are false and she considers it slanderous and damaging to her reputation and person.

The Orthopaedic Department of Babcock University Teaching Hospital just achieved a great feat, as it performed its first successful spinal surgery.

Kelechukwu Onuoha, Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeon with Babcock University Teaching Hospital, BUTH, who confirmed that they performed its first successful spinal surgery, said it was carried out under general anaesthesia on a middle-aged female patient with multi-level “spinal stenosis”.


Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spaces within the spine, which can put pressure on the nerves that travel through the spine. The condition occurs most often in the lower back and the neck. Some people with spinal stenosis may not have symptoms. According to Dr. Kelechukwu, the procedure uwas a revision spinal surgery L2 – L5 lumber spinal decompression and instrumentation.


The 59-years-old patient, who asked for protection of her identity, had undergone a spinal surgery five years earlier in another hospital,” he said.

The Department of State Services have released Abiri Jones, the Bayelsa journalist who was arrested again over the weekend in Yenegoa, the capital of his home Bayelsa State where he publishes his Weekly Source magazine.While no official statement was issued to clarify the arrest of Jones Abiri which comes months after a prolonged detention, his  lawyer Samuel Ogala confirmed that been released by the DSS adding that terms of the release would be disclosed later.

Recall we reported earlier that the DSS officials who arrested Mr Abiri came in a Toyota Hilux truck. The DSS had initially denied knowledge of the arrest, but those who were with him insisted the agency was responsible.

An Igbosere High Court which sat in Lagos on Monday, again ordered the arrest Nollywood actress Monalisa Chinda over an alleged tax evasion.The court ordered the arrest of Monalisa Chinda again over her failure to appear in court alongside her lawyer. Justice Adedayo Akintoye who renewed the order for the arrest, was told by Lagos State Counsel, Babatunde Sumonu, that the bench warrant it earlier issued had yet to be effected.

Recall that the Lagos State Government had charged her with failure to file annual tax returns and failure to pay income tax in respect of her company, Monalisa Code Productions. The court had on January 21 given the order for the actress’s arrest, following an application made by the Lagos State Ministry of Justice.
