That is why figures and facts are sacred and sacrosanct. The easy line of thought is that FG civil service is populated by Northerners, but this facts shows the reverse is the case. Although, i know this does not include the military and para military.
Education › Re: Poor Grades In School: Come To My Aid Nlders, I Need Your Advice by chinchum(m): 1:03pm On Dec 11, 2015
AmNotADullard:
Good day Nairalanders, the time I started writing this is 3:22am, whether am a popular NLder or not doesn't matter, but I would like to Conceal my identity. These would be a bit long, because I would want to explain all what is happening and has been happening to me concerning my education.

I am from the eastern part of Nigeria, and school somewhere in the south, part of the top 10 universities in Nigeria.
Back in my, Primary and Junior secondary school, I was extremely brilliant, always part of first 3, a lot of times I was 1st in class and best overall. Even my junior waec, I was so happy, people were happy for me.

The problem started in my secondary school, I noticed I started dropping, my 2nd term in SS1, I was 21/23 in class, same school, same class mates.
I thought maybe I had started playing to much, so I stopped all what I figured out could be the problem, yet there was no solution, my parents got me private teachers for my core subjects. Once they are with me, I would understand what they teach me, when they leave, I don't slack, I continue reading and reading, when exam comes, it would seem like I wasn't the one who read. A day before the exam, it would be fresh in my head and when I even write the exam, my mind would be like "you have killed it"
My parents would ask how it was, my reply would be: "yes, it was perfect, expecting the perfect result".

When I see my result, I would as usual fail virtually everything.
Still, I managed to go/forge ahead, I was able to pass my WASSCE in one sitting, how I did that I don't know, not that I passed outstandingly, I only had 'credit' in all the subject I was expect to have grade 'C'.

Then the hustle for Jamb came, let it be known that I wrote jamb 5 times, and the 5th time was when I got admitted to my school of choice.

Currently in my 200level, we resumed a new session about 2months ago. Now to what caused dis write up.

My first semester of 100level result: C, F, A, D, D.

A terrible result for someone in 100level, yes, I know. I felt too relaxed first semester, played a lot.
I determined that 2nd semester would be better, not that I was expecting all A's but I didn't want any F.
So my whole 2nd semester was reading all through, I read to the extent that I started feeling sure I should have A's in at least 3 out of 6 courses.

But when the result came in, it was worse than my first semester without me playing or getting distracted,
My 2nd semester of 100level result: C, F, C, E, C,F

And now 200level has kicked off, but something is happening to me.

I don't think I can survive this anymore,
My parents don't have money, my dad is struggling to send us to school.
None of my siblings work,
I have been contemplating different means of ending my life,
I move about with shame, I don't sleep anymore, I can't get my head straight, I would stay awake all night crying and praying for a change in my academic life.

I have done all what I think I can humanly do, hence why the thought of taking my life,
I know I can't create a life, but of what use is one that doesn't seem to make people happy?
But then, I decided to come on here, to ask if there is something else in reading I am not doing apart from, reading.... I have applied all the reading techniques applicable, jot while reading, revise, ask myself questions, and all. But still after exam, I don't seem to have that desired result, I have prayed countless times.

By my side is a chemical I got when I discovered I had 2f's. Education, they say is the best legacy. But in my case it isn't sure if it would be, I am a business oriented person, but no money to even establish myself, so that's not an option, please Nairalanders, I don't wish to Take my life, please is there anything you can suggest to me other than suicide and constant reading and prayers. I am 22years of age.

cry
God bless.
Please, indulge me and let me enjoy this observation.

your 100 level 2nd semester result was EFCC FC. i mean EFCC football club. grin grin grin

Man, i think you are working way too hard than necessary, it is now time to work smart.

1. Reduce the number of hours you spend reading by 25 -30%. Any day you sincerely dont feel like reading, except during tests and exam, take a time off.

2. Ensure you are not reading to fulfil righteousness or get props in the eyes of your fellow classmates /roommates.

3. Ensure you are in the clique of friends with high gpa, they will come in useful and handy.

4. When david wanted to kill goliath, he tapped in to his past successes by remembering his exploits of him killing bears as a shepherd boy, you called yourself a wonder boy, you still got it in you man !

5. You are obviously intelligent from your write up and responses on this thread, simulate your lecturers and observe their interest, ask questions from your immediate seniors studying the same course as to a particular lecturer.

6. LASTLY , BUT MOST IMPORTANT, GET A LOAD OF PAST QUESTIONS FOR YOUR COURSES, AND SOLVE THEM NEATLY IN A DESIGNATED NOTEBOOK FOR SOLVING PAST QUESTIONS. get those past questions at the beginning of the semester , and once a topic has been covered in class, check those past questions to see related questions to topics covered.

Osun state, in a bid to hide the fact that it can no longer sustain its own tertiary institutions, has ceased admission and JAMB exercises for 4 of its colleges till further notice.

But sha, stay tuned for the airport and its 'Longest Runway'.
Osun state at the moment has no business running 7 state owned tertiary institutions IMO., it is a good step in the right direction, a merger of some of the institutions will be in order

I see many sad vulture looking for DEAD carcases on this thread, one thing is certain, the governor has challenged the status quo in his quest to remove the shameful and annoying civil service toga on the state, whether he will fail or succeed is subject to time, credit will be given to the man who challenged the wrong status quo. Aregbesola has 3 more years to govern the state.

Someone update us on what is happening with the airport.
https://www.nairaland.com/2653238/mko-abiola-international-airport-ready

Contractor handling MKO Abiola International Airport in Osun State, Aeronautical Engineering and Technical Services Limited, has assured that the project would be ready for operation next May.
Managing Director of the Nigeria Air Force-owned company, Air Commodore Hyacinth Eze, stated this when he led a team of engineers handling the project to Governor Rauf Aregbesola in Osogbo.

The airport at Ido-Osun in Egbedore Local Government Area, when completed, would be a cargo and aircraft maintenance hub.
At completion, the airport, it was said, would be the first to have a hanger for maintenance of different types of aircraft and helicopters in the West African sub-region. He explained that the delay in completing the project was caused by little hitch that has been overcome.
Eze assured that work will be fast on the project site so as to meet the tentative target of eight months being proposed for full commencement of operation at the airport.
He said: “Our company has two on-going projects in the state, one, which is the most important of the projects is the airport named MKO Abiola International Airport.
“It is a project that we started and we have little hitch along the line but today, I am happy to inform you that this project is being revived.
“ We have gone up to seventy per cent of the work and in another eight months we are hoping that this project will be completed and handed over to the state of Osun. ”http://nationalmirroronline.net/new/mko-abiola-intl-airport-ready-next-year-osun-govt/

OP is a dullard, this nonsense was trashed eons ago.

see this yeye people, you failed to realize that urban road construction isn't like using a ruler to draw a straight line, it involves numerous twist and turns to connect two locations together.

As small as Lagos is, Fashola once boasted he has constructed more roads than Ghana, will you also dispute that fact simply because Ghana is larger than Lagos.

http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2010/11/12/lagos-has-built-more-roads-than-ghana-sleone-%E2%80%94fashola/

Fashola has claimed he has constructed about 371 km and is hoping to increase it to about 577km. The catch here is that the flight distance between Lagos and Abuja = 536Km

You see why Fashola is a very foolish hypocrite. Tufia.

https://www.nairaland.com/2148779/omg-lagos-london-5000km-jonathan#30752899
bullshit, the flight distance btw Lagos -Abuja can be in nautical miles not km. No sane person should compare road network distance with airways distance

I could be wrong, but i sense the Op is a bit arrogant , judging by her posts on this thread. It is a costly mistake in a professional set up, but to err is human. I feel sorry for the Op as she would be losing some finances as a pUNISHMENT for her error, it is not a fair punishment in my opinion, but a second look at it tells me a graver punishment would be an outright sack. If the differential in payment is relatively minute i.e less than 10% of your monthly income, it is a fair judgement.

the second niger bridge was awarded in 2015 with 4 years to complete.....so what does fasola wants to do with those already awarded..there are many other roads he should award and let us see him complete them in 4 years
lagos-ibd 60% completehuh? it must be different from the one i passed yesterday, coz that road is over 120km, and it is barely 25% completed.

WaffenSS:
The actual glut was caused by non-OPEC drilling, particularly by the US. This non-OPEC production is set to go down by 2016. The only problem i foresee is the cut in carbon emissions, which means faster adoption of renewable energy.

However, if we immediately enhance agriculture and non-oil extractions, we may just pull through by 2018.
I am not privy to the US cutting down oil production in 2016, but i know the iran nuclear deal agreement will mean iran will also flood the market with oil soon in 2016, and OPEC is not ready to agree to cut quota of member countries, i trade crude oil in the forex market, the analysis on technicals points a further fall in price of crude, the current rate for oil is 36.80, brent oil is only 1-2 usd higher. , it may hit 30usd before the end of december, and even slide further. but who knows. IMO, the 38 usd is not a well placed benchmark.

The Non oil sector is where the govt must be thinking of getting bulk of its revenue, and maybe VAT may be jerked up from 5%, Govt. oil subsidies should be removed too, FIRS generated over 4 thrillion naira in 2014 alone, it can make more than that in 2016, NPA, Customs, NIMASA, immigration, NNPC and the introduction of TSA will up the government revenues if well managed.

Was naija dry like this in GEJ period? please leave sentiments and face facts
Naija would have shut down by now under GEJ, brent oil price now at 38dollars /barrel, GEJ period had oil boom of over 100 usd on the average, though budget benchmark was at avg of 75usd, meaning the extra 25usd + over budget benchmark was saved in to excess crude account. Many do not realise the enormity of the current situation in a Nigeria that was virtually anchored on oil price. I daily praise God, majority of Nigerian voters did not make the mistake of bringing GEJ back.

i will recommend 30 dollars /barrel as budget benchmark, instead of 38 dollars per barrel. As at today, oil is now under 40 dollars /barrel, it has achieved a 11 year low(since 2004), and i see it going towards 25 dollars/barrel, iran will be pumping more fuel in to the oil export market in 2016. Nigeria must look beyond oil to a great extent in 2016.
