GenbIoodykiller: bros apc used all their arsenal on Bayelsa but met a huge resistance from the people because they gat Dickson back.
talking about worst govern state if Lagos is making use of their federal allocation and IGR effectively without embezzlement by Tinubu's dynasty i swear they'll become a mini London now judging the fact that they are the most already made state in Nigeria.
apc states are the worst states in Nigeria starting from osun to imo.
where's the change? which arsenal? pdp bayelsa will not stand, if federal might is used, you know this. Don't you? All the money Aregbesola has received in 4 years is not up to what dickson has received in a year fg allocation >>> food for thought, if you can think. |

kenonze: Timi Alaibe has the money but lacks the feoolowership . Apc wanted to win with Sylva however it is/was a gamble. Alaibe is not reliable. Dickson on several occasions made attempt to defect to APC that was even before presidential election. Sylva never allowed him. Although had Dickson switched, APC would have failed the more. So many Igbo's in Bayelsa voted for PDP not bc of Dickson but their natural hatred for APC. Really? Are you sure about the lack of followership part, i have heard the name peddled around a long time, i remember he has been moving from one party to another in his quest to govern, he was seen as a threat in labour party in 2012, and his campaign office blown with grenade, my assumption was that if he could be seen as a threat in an obscure party when pdp was in charge, then he must command a formidable followership. |

remember the fear of militants...
story for the gods apc wants all oyel states but i no go work
i hope Wike is borrowing ideas from Dickson (should there be any rerun) there is nothing to pride about in using violence, if APC SHOULD use such "federal might" , na strong thing he go be. taking a holistic view of the situation, I want PDP to keep bayelsa , should PDP lose more states, it will stand no chance in 2019, democracy can not thrive in a one party state, the possibility of a one party state scares me a lot . Bayelsa is the worst governed state in Nigeria, judging by the revenue accruing to it, it is the richest state /capita when it comes to revenue, and has only 8 local governments. Bayelsa runs on a budget almost 70% that of lagos, but you wonder if such money was spent in a different bayelsa |

not everyone can withstand federal might ask wada APC has not really exerted federal might in bayelsa, if it had used half of the kind of ekiti /osun 2014 federal might, the election would have been won by now. If you will be truthful yo yourself, reports so far led credence to more violence inspired by PDP than APC. |

afroniger: That Nigeria spends so much on food imports doesn't negate the fact that the North indeed does accounts for the bulk of our agricultural produce. Put simply, the North's production is inadequate to meet local demand.
Your argument is like saying Nigeria doesn't truly produce as much crude as it claims on the basis of the amount she spends on imported refined crude. touche ! |

Ignorance is not necessarily low IQ, i can bet there are several uneducated pepper sellers with higher IQ than academic professors, opportunity for exposure most times separated the two entities.
Using Nigeria as a case study in Africa, we are not overpopulated, and population is a two edged sword, while large population can enhance growth and development of an economy, it is a disaster, when you have large army of population that are vastly uneducated. In Nigeria, we have situation where the poor are in the majority, and barely educated, and it can be observed they breed in higher numbers when compared with the rich minority, when poor people breed way more than they can take care, they enthrench the vicious cycle of poverty, hunger, hopelenessness for the offsprings. Example abounds of how a man earning minimum wage has 3 wives and tens of children in a 2 room aparment, the children are barely educated, not properly fed from birth in most cases( suffer kwashiorkor, marsmus,e.t.c) and then suffer irreversible stuntness in mental development , which many times accounts for low IQ in adult stage., the children live in ghettoe like apartments where gang fights, robbery and prostitution is high, you can bet HIV?Aids thrives in such environment.
The solution in my opinion lies with the government, it will take a less dictatorial model than the Op suggested. Government must take a comprehensive database of Nigerians, and adults in particular, and taxable adults based on their earnings be given a cap on the number of children they can have e.g low income earners based on low tax on not more than 2 children , Middle income earners , not more than 3 children. High income earners , no restriction on number of kids.
Education for offsprings of low income earners must be free and compulsory by law , very stiff punishment on defaulters which will include jail terms, govt taking over the child, and never setting their eyes on the parents e.t.c . Free Family planning for low /middle income earners , and designated centres for such programme must be easily accessible. Adoption of children by high income earners should be encouraged at little or no cost to such high income earning families. |

Faleke is a subset of Audu's emergence at the APC primaries, if you remove faleke from Audus emerging at the primaries, Audu as APC gubernatorial candidate would have been invalidated. Acidosis: Don't expect much bro.
He spent 8 years in Lagos, and he tried greatly in the aspect of importing generators from India to power some selected schools and a few street lights.
He also spent most of his time criticising Goodluck's power sector and the failure of DisCos, IPPs, etc.
Now he has been given the duty to oversee the same sector he criticised. According to him, he wants to know the problem of power sector in Nigeria, whether it is man-made or systemic (he made this statement post-inauguration).
One would ordinarily assume he already knows the problems given the many criticisms during his tenure as governor of Lagos State. 'I just dey look sha.'
The improvement I've enjoyed in the area of power can be attributed to the brain behind the IPP and power sector policy formulators since the era of Obasanjo.
Fashola won't effect any serious change so don't expect much. Ikeja or Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has been there before him and he can't stop that. He can only leverage on what he previously criticised to our advantage.
The best he can do is to build policies that will reduce the cost of electricity, and may be import more 'generators' to power a few strategic and selected areas in Nigeria.
He won't build you DAMS, he won't build you a super nuclear plant (Jonathan laid a foundation). How many times will some of you be told a power plant is a generator ? Huun? I can see you trying to used the word fashola import generator derisively thinking you are scoring a point. Power plant is a generator, it can be actuated with varying fuel source, petrol, diesel, natural gas,e.t.c. |

umar4info: I agree with you in some points but try going to any mosque you will find out that nothing like teaching extremism is done. The evils were hatched in different place other than mosque. I swear to you there is nothing like that. I saw this article this morning, this bishop view is timely, read it up. https://www.nairaland.com/2771007/blame-northern-nigeria-muslim-elites-boko
The Roman-Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah has said Northern Nigeria elites indirectly created terrorism as they used religion to deceive poor Muslims. Kukah made this disclosure in his keynote address at a conference organised by the Islamic Welfare Foundation at the Fountain University, Osogbo.
Speaking on the theme, ‘The Muslim agenda for Nigeria: Challenges of development and good governance’, Kukah said: “A hypocritical elite continues to believe that it can claim the benefits of democracy but use it only to consolidate its hold on power. This is what has laid the foundation for what is now Boko Haram. We must locate the current crisis of Boko Haram within the context of the inability of the northern Muslim elite to live by their own dubious creed of being Muslims. They preached Sharia Law but only for the poor. They preach a religion that encourages education, yet their own people are held in the bondage of ignorance.
“They came to power on the basis of a democratic society but they turned around and declared Sharia to generate a false consciousness among the poor that they want a theocracy. They did not wish to live by the same standards, so they decided to live their own Islam in the capitals of the world away from the prying eyes of their own people. Boko Haram began as a revolt against this mendacity, subterfuge and hypocrisy.
“Now, I hear Muslims in northern Nigeria hiding under the cover of the facts by saying: ‘These Boko Haram people are not Muslims. They do not represent us’. Well, first, they are your own children. You must take responsibility for what has made them what they are today and to the rest of society. They claim they have been inspired by the Quran and no other holy book. They say they want to build an Islamic state. So, they are Muslims. After all, from the debates of the Constituent Assemblies of 1979, 1988, and 1995 and beyond, did their fathers and grandfathers not stage walkouts, demanding Sharia Law? Was it not to tame them that President Ibrahim Babangida declared what he called ‘no-go areas’ in the debates about our constitution?
“The promise to institute Sharia has become the most potent tool for political mobilisation and organisation. Till date, the tactics may have changed, but the essence has not. Rather than face the tough questions of how and why over 15 million children in the northern states are on the streets; how and why the northern states are falling behind on almost every index of development, the northern Muslim elite continues to live for just the moment, with no plans for tomorrow.
“Should we pretend that a society that allows the forced marriages of its young daughters could frown on the idea of a group kidnapping and forcing young girls into sexual slavery? Islam must have an honest look at the mirror and have an internal discussion. Although we all seem to pretend that Boko Haram has caught us unawares, the worst thing is that we continue to hide our heads in the sands of self-deception by further denying the roots of this ugly side of our humanity.
“That Boko Haram, its disciples and victims are localised to northern Nigeria, should be instructive. What this calls for is an honest review of the root causes. We need to ask what it is about the past or the present that has led us to this ugly and deadly path. It is my considered view that northern Islam has to confront the realities of taking its religion into the modern world of democracy seriously. Muslims in northern Nigeria cannot accept democracy and reject the inclusive nature of its philosophy as it is the case today.” |
