6.7 /40 = roughly 17% of our average daily need of Petrol.
Nigeria needs average of 40 million litres of petrol daily
Where do the remaining 83% come from . Not much of a cheering news for me. Can the govt afford to wait for the private refineries to fill the void, or it should close it up.
IMO, govt should start construction of refineries, and allow it to be managed by private hands. |

petkruz: Hey guys, i'm so angry right now i'm tempted to break up with the love of my life.
1) he didn't tell me he was saving to buy a car, he just drove to my compound and was looking at my face, I kept my cool.
2) My so-called boyfriend decided to call me today 3rd January and that's his first this year!! I didn't get any new year wishes. I confronted him, he apologised and all but ladies and gentlemen, the era of Men being non-challant is over.
Fine I did wrong years ago,but gone are the days when someone tries to pay back a sin I committed in my youthful restlessness.I have apologised, cried, begged, I became humble by force, I realised my mistake yet he hasn't gotten over the fact that I left him because he didn't have money when actually his possessiveness and lack of trust made me wanna always run out.
He can't be pained after 4years,its better I dump him now before he drops another bomb! But to be honest I do love him a lot, a whole lot. I'm angry and confused Simply communication issues!, it is the worst destroyer of relationships. Your boyfrend didnt call you in the year until january 3 ?? And you didnt try to call him within the 3 days too, Why? Oh, is it because he is a guy, he must do the calling or what? My questions to you are : If you are to give the rates of call initiation in percentages, sincerely allocate it roughly between the two of you, same with messages. What is the age range of you two? One vital reason, he couldnt tell you of his plan to buy a car is that the communication in your relationship is seemingly very weak. |

There is nothing to suggest that pmb is acting as a dictator, the agencies under his govt are simply doing their work. EFCC and DSS in this case. I guess many people just pick up a wrong narrative and then build skycraper blocks of bullocks on it. the efcc prosecution team have simply perfected the act of using technicalities to keep some of the suspects in jail, past experiences has shown that the allege criminals also use technicalities to evade justice. So far in this dispensation, i noticed that In some corruption cases, effcc simply charge the alleged looters on less count charges than necessary and wait for the alleged criminal to play smart and get bail, then they simply re-arrest him immediately with new and fresh count charges cunny man die, cunny man bury am. The same situation applies to nnamdi kunu guy, he was set free in the courts, but dss came up with fresh charges of treason, and offcourse he is saying happy new year in the dungeon as i type. Where does buhari come in as a dictator in all of these ?? Maybe only in the tiny but warped mind of those ethnic jngoists |

TechWalker007: When you lack knowledge, the humble and smart thing to do is to ask, not expose your ignorance. Increase tariff will not increase the electricity generated beyond the capacity it can generate. The past admin built over 10 IPPs, investors are glad to still invest. We don't have a problem of investors not wanting to come in. China, General Electric and other mega investors are all in. So shove that naive excuse of bringing in investors.
It's because of blind followers like you they'll succeed in implementing tolls on roads and force land use charge like the other theif in Edo State is doing. And you will stupidly give excuse for them and explain why it's a good thing.
In your small mind, once we start paying extra N2000 power generation will jump from 3000MW to 20000MW and we won't need to use generators anymore. You don't know infrastructure will have to be built to increase power generation. Do you even have the slightest understanding of IPPs, I think I've been wasting my precious time. Do have a good day! Tarriff is the cost it takes to produce power along all the chains to the end user., if the cost is not good enough for investors to invest in the production chain, how can you guarantee improvd supply? Do you have the global price/tarriff to consumers /kwh to benchmark? I have said it earlier, we cant afford to be penny wise and pound foolish. The Same Nigerian resisting to pay extra 2,000 /month for good supply will then be spending 500 daily to power gensets, does that make sense |

TechWalker007: You see why it's terrible to assume you are smart and then let out your ignorance? The rate is not the same across states and hence the 45% you mention is something you pulled from your false knowledge (ignorance actually) IKEDC for example had 60.15% increase. Different from Eko Distribution Company. That's how it varies across states and DISCOS.
Go get educated before coming to argue what you don't know. You wont give up, will you? my first response to you today is that your daft case study is not absolute, it is subject to variables. The average tarriff increase is 45%, Even the body of the op made mention of the 45%. Does Nigeria starts and end in Ikeja distribution company? Even service charge for customers varies, for some it is 700, 750, even 800., but the average is 750. |

TechWalker007: You referred me to someone who also don't have figures? With the fixed charge and average to good supply you'll still pay at least 15% less than what you'll pay with the new tariff. Do you even know how much a KW of electricity is across states and/or regions? Or how much VAT is paid?
I don't have enough time to teach you. Stay with your "knowledge" Oh my goodness, you are proving you suck at maths, i dont need to know how much a kw costs across states, the variable is a 45% increase on the previuos tariff cost . VAT is a constant =5%, or has it being increased too . If you suck at maths, confess to me, i will guide you. Do you know what 15% increase would be for a company that pay tens of millions in electricity yearly? The tarriff was canvassed to guarantee improved supply, should power supply improve drastically to the coy, it will end up as a blessing, as they coy will now cut off heavy bills on diesel /petrol + maintenance costs on heavy duty generator. |

TechWalker007: The problem with your likes is that you are smart in your own foolishness.
The example I gave is an actual spend from a prepaid meter. And it was just one of many cases of different people from a survey.
With the new tariff, the only people who will pay less are people who don't have electricity daily. For areas with average to good supply, your bill will go up by 15% and above. Don't dispute facts except you have facts and figures to support your position. It is either you suck at comprehension or you are a bad maths student, you claimed you did a survey , what was the survey population? This is a testimony of a ppm user on page 1 of this thread rabzy01: I use PPM and I know how terrible that fixed charge is. Take it from me, NLC has nothing to fight here. In fact abolishing the fixed charge makes this increment a blessing on a lot of people. Do your calculations and you will realize that instead of increase in cost you will actually get savings in the cost of electricity depending on your consumption.
As for power supply, I put it to you, that this year is the best in my area. A 45% increase in tarriff + service charge removal on PPM will shoot up the cost of electricity for some, but it will also lower the cost for others, i dont claim to have clear data, but due to the relatively low supply of power, i can bet the number of beneficiaries who will pay less due to new tarriff policy will outnumber the once who will now pay more. For those who have good power supply who you claim will now pay more 15+%, is that not a better option to powerimg generators with petrol/diesel at exhorbitant cost ?. Dont be penny wise, pound foolish. |

2 pivotal key performance indicators for the buhari govt IMO should be the refineries and power sector. 1. By end of 2018, Nigeria must have stopped importation of refined oil, which takes a whopping 35% of our FOREX 2. By the end of 2018, Nigerians on national grid should have increased to at least 65-70% and can boast minimum of 12hours of power supply daily. The budget 2016 is for fg , and not for the whole of Nigeria.
After the 13% oil derivation is removed from total oil revenue and shared to concerned states, FG keeps 52.1% of total oil revenue and the remaining 47+% is shared between 774 LGA and 36 states.
No way in hell, production facilities will work for 365 days, 24 hours, there would be shut down for maintenance, vandalism/oil theft e.t.c , the system might lose close to 5-10% to this. |

In Gombe state, yobe, Enugu, Imo sate. I will pick references later https://www.naij.com/411293-boko-haram-attack-polling-stations-in-gombe.htmlBoko Haram insurgents have caused elections in Gombe state to be suspended while voters in Yobe State were killed fulfilling their promise to disrupt elections .
According to Leadership newspaper, two people were left dead following the attack on two polling stations in the state.
One election official was quoted by Vanguard as saying after the shootings: “We could hear the gunmen shouting, ‘Didn’t we warn you about staying away from (the) election?”
Polling stations had earlier opened at 8:00am across the country but the late arrival of officials and materials delayed the accreditation process before voting proper from 1:30pm. The attacks happened in the villages of Birin Bolawa and Birin Fulani in the Nafada district of Gombe state, which has been repeatedly targeted by the Islamists. A member of Gombe State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Aminu (APC), and eight others are feared killed by insurgents on Saturday.
The insurgents who attacked Dukku and Nafada local government areas of the state were said to have killed the lawmaker representing Dukku South Constituency.
A source told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the insurgents, who came from Yobe, initially attacked Shole, Birin Bolewa and Birin Fulani towns of Nafada and later attacked Dukku.
There was confusion in the two areas as some voters left the polling units but others later returned to be accredited, the source said.
According to the source, the insurgents killed three persons in Nafada Local Government Area, including a policeman and killed six persons in Dukku Local Government Area, including the legislator.
The source further said the insurgents left on the Dukku-Darazo road after the attack.
DSP Fwaje Atajiri, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, confirmed the report, adding that details of the incident would be given after investigations were completed.
“There was an attack on the outskirts of Nafada in attempt to disrupt the elections.
A joint team of military and policemen promptly moved to Dukku and pushed the insurgents to the bush,” he said.
Atajiri said elections were going on in the area and other areas of the state as the Special Forces were in control of the situation.
Reacting to the death of his colleague, member representing Akko North Constituency at the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Gidado Lawanti, described his death as unfortunate.
He described the deceased legislator as a friendly and nice person who went along with everybody.
Lawanti prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.
NAN also reports that Aminu was fielded to re-contest the state assembly election on April 11. http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/03/elections-lawmaker-8-others-killed-by-insurgents-in-gombe/ |

How many people died during Presidential and gubernatorial elections and how many polling units were blown off by suicide bombers inspite of their threat not to hold elections? - the answer is None died and no polling booth was bombed even when the elections were extended to midnight.
Don't wish people to die to make or mar a milestone. Not true, there were bombings on election date, and people died. @op, the war against boko haram is still ongoing, even if they have been technically defeated in the words of Lai Muhammed, that doesnt mean they wont still make bombing attempts in the coming days or weeks. It means the war is not over yet, but most of the battles have been won. BH now fully back in the guerilla mode of fighting, and do not have a well structured or defined base or headquarters. Do not forget , at a point BH declared gwarzo as its headquarters.
Boko haram war will not stop like a switch, i am no prophet of doom, there will still be attacks at least for the next 12 months as suicide bombing or attempted bombing. |
