ikenwan:I didn't take your comment that way either. But I don't think that's the case either - mismanagement of things. I think it's the suggestion, although unspoken by the woman that things be managed more "moderately" like you put it, that leads to incidents such as this. Like, both parties contributing in any way they can rather than focusing on gender roles even when neither are in the position due to circumstances since moving to the States, to practice the gender roles assigned by the Nigerian culture. |
Na wa oo! 2 pages of chatting? Y'all need to get to battling! LOL@ Ofoka, you're just talking to yourself. Razor is probably cooking up some dope sh!!t that would be delivered once and final. You're here writing essays dissing everyone. Better go work on your verse, I don't think the warning shot counts ![]() |
ikenwan:Haha. Not necessarily. The culture shock I believe, doesn't stem from constant electricity and whatnot. The culture shock is how the American family is run, like if a woman works more than the husband, naturally, he would help out more around the house. These Nigerian men killing their wives obviously think differently. Many of them are still stuck to the Nigerian mentality that the man is the head of the household(which is true in most if not all societies) but does not translate to the wife being a slave. Neither does that mean he can't assist around the house if the wife is the one handling the financial burden of the family. I think these men start to notice their women blend more into the American culture and expect their husbands to contribute in other ways since they can't do so financially - these expectations may seem belittling to the men and they start to feel intimidated and claim their wives have been brain-washed by the American society whereas, their wives are only embracing the new culture. I don't know what men like these expect to happen when they move to a new environment since change is almost inevitable. People like these are just better off staying back home in Nigeria, they are obviously incapable of handling a culture such as America's. |
phew!! me too in a heartbeat we have come a long way my sister, abt time ![]() important to hit home. baseball bat don't miss target ![]() you making money, real good money and someone born of a woman will say you must play extreme wifey or die hard trying? shaking my head Tiger Wood's wife style. But seriously, I don't understand how these men could be having this mentality of being superior when the woman does all the work, brings all the money. It doesn't make sense. She shouldn't treat him like crap either but don't expect her to act like a slave either. That nonsense can fly in Naija where women have no rights. |
Sad state of affairs. . . I thought these kinda professors no longer exist in 2010. That was a very meaningless video; shows no evidence whatsoever other than the professor being held hostage and being forced to sign a check. He never admitted to doing anything on the tape. The tape is baseless and actually against the students' favor. Dumb! |
Archaic men. It's sad really.
it is mandatory for women married to a nig men learn how to hold gun and fire, use baseball bat, kitchen knives etc protect ya selves i say
![]() I'll probably kill a mofo before he kills me. |
Get. A. Life. |
Panic room Nicholas Nickleby & Doubt. . . . not done with this one. Not my regular kinda movie but pretty intriguing. |
bgees:LMAO!!! LIAR! Don't let FL_Gators(Ileke_idi) see this. ![]() But yea, he's not special, he's not even cute. **ducks head** |
LMAO!!! Lalaboi, so you brought Olamide into this? haha aww, cute lil' thang. And you're mad for this one. "Nothing you can ever bring can top this one. This is above anything you can do". ![]() |
Dark blue on fingers and toes. Bold color. |
ddippset:That does not, in any way, answer the topic's question. And what survey did you carry out that shows that all women play hard to get? |
ddippset: Dumb. |
Haha, this should be interesting!! ![]() |
iice:Oh yea, Ezra. . .I just know him as Mr. Fitz but I don't think anything happened to him. |
Hmmm. |
iice: I knew Emily couldn't die but I don't think Toby is dead either. He's wayy too mysterious to be taken out of the show already lmao. Besides, someone found his file that was dumped in the water, it's def. not over. Ezra. . . who's that again? |
hax:Because they're both bi-racial. J/KJ. Cole is def. better. Nice song but not his best. |
Mobinga:LOL his skin color is not really 'Black'. But I get your point, the one-drop rule is still in effect up till today but let's face facts, if he was completely Black, he wouldn't have made it this far. I'm saying maybe he got this far because not all White people still believe in the one-drop rule or they made an exception in his case since they couldn't do anything anyway. |
He's really bi-racial but in America, they just claim to be Black. Oh well, White people don't consider him White either so. . . |
The Femi dude beats them by far. Nice body, handsome face, and he looks like a man. ![]() That first pic of the Ty dude is cute, he looks gay in the rest. And that Daniel is just not cute. What's with all the oil? ![]() |
ice234:LMFAO! ![]() |
^^ LOL ![]() |
THE AMAKA:Yea, in that particular sentence of mine, the right usage is complaint. Complain is a verb while complaint is a noun. |
Myself, because I brought them into the world. |
shotster50:He's half White, remember? ![]() This theory being made by this Potash guy is not convincing. He's a White guy for one - really don't think he cares that much if at all he cares about Tupac. LOL And yeah, like you said, why Tupac? Besides the influential stuff(which were mostly about White racism in America), he also rapped about weed and guns. I don't see why the government would target him. He was more of a poet not the MLK activist type, he def. believed in violence. But then many people still believe he's alive. . .somewhere in Cuba, lol. In as much as he's my favorite artist in the world, I believe he's dead and the gov't didn't kill him. |
LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL ![]() |
Typical Nigerian inferiority complex when a foreigner, no matter how broke, is concerned. Yup. Seen it all before. Still sad. |
THE AMAKA:LOL this thread is hurting him https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-462177.128.html#msg6428123 ![]()
Beyoncee, looks so ugly in that picture. Why she gonna let them do that to her? She looks like a witch of Oz
I still see her looking like that on the L'Oreal covers at the store. Sad! |
NEGATIVE!!! Oops, I just posted AGAIN! Now, kill yourself. |

Ezra is Mr. English teacher.
