Buhari: Military Offensive against Boko Haram, Anti-north

Gen. Muhammadu Buhari

Opposes emergency rule
By John Shiklam in Kaduna

Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) National Leader, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has criticised the declaration of state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States and the subsequent military offensive against the Boko Haram Islamic sect.
Buhari, who featured on the “Guest of the Week,” a Hausa programme of the Kaduna-based Liberty Radio, yesterday said the federal government’s action was a gross injustice against the north.

According to him, unlike the special treatment the federal government gave to the Niger Delta militants, the Boko Haram members were being killed and their houses demolished.
He said he was not in support of the declaration of state of emergency in the three north-eastern states because President Goodluck Jonathan had failed from the outset in addressing the security situation in the country.

Besides, Buhari added that the security challenges facing the country started in the Niger Delta region where he alleged that politicians desperate to retain their positions as governors recruited youths and armed them to enable them win elections by force.
According to Buhari, who fielded questions in Hausa language before the English version of the programme, “What is responsible for the security situation in the country was caused by the activities of Niger Delta militants.

“Every Nigerian that is familiar with what happened knows this. The Niger Delta militants started it all. What happened is that the governors of the Niger Delta region at that time wanted to win their elections, so they recruited the youths and gave them guns and bullets and used them against their opponents to win elections by force.
“After the elections were over, they asked the boys to return the guns, the boys refused to return the guns. Because of that, the allowance that was being given to the youths by the governors during that time was stopped.

“The youths resorted to kidnapping oil workers and were collecting dollars as ransom. Now a boy of 18 to 20 years was getting about $500 in a week, why will he go to school and spend 20 years to study and then come back and get employed by government to be paid N100,000 a month; that is if he is lucky to get employment?

“So kidnapping became very rampant in the south-south and the south-east. They kidnapped people and were collecting money.
“How did Boko Haram start? We know that their leader, Mohammed Yusuf, started his militancy and the police couldn’t control them and the army was invited. He was arrested by soldiers and handed over to the police.

“The appropriate thing to do, according to the law, was for the police to carry out investigations and charge him to court for prosecution, but they killed him, his in-law was killed, they went and demolished their houses.
“Because of that, his supporters resorted to what they are doing today.
“You see in the case of the Niger Delta militants, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua sent an airplane to bring them, he sat down with them and discussed with them, they were cajoled, and they were given money and granted amnesty.
“They were trained in some skills and were given employment, but the ones in the north are being killed and their houses demolished. They are different issues, what brought this? It is injustice.”

Buhari also explained why he joined politics after his release from detention by former military president, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, saying that his close associates and those who knew him very well convinced him to join partisan politics.

He said those who knew him, knew that he took on positions of responsibility without begging anyone for appointments.
“I was a military governor in a state that has been divided into six states today; I was minister of petroleum for four years and six months. I was a military head of state. But because these people know how I live my life, they were not coming to beg me for money. They were coming to ask me to comment on issues that affected the nation,” he added.

He said further that the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 also shaped his attitude to politics.
“When I joined partisan politics in April 2002, in my ward in Daura, (Katsina State), they kept on coming. And then one significant thing at the global level happened, the Soviet Union collapsed.
“Out of the Soviet Union, there are now about 18 or 19 republics and that conclusively proved to me as an individual that the multi-party system is the best form of democracy, but with the big caveat that elections must be free and fair. That is how I arrived in CPC today, but first from APP to ANPP to CPC," he said.

Buhari lamented that God has blessed Nigeria with human and natural resources, but “we have failed to organise ourselves”, stressing that one of the problems bedevilling the country is bad leadership.

FashionThe Fashion Trend Of Men/guys Piercing Their Ears. by chocolateme(op): 1:41pm On Jan 27, 2015
Everybody is piercing ear, celebrities, fashion models, tv presenters, students, touts, bus conductors etc and even Nairalanders. This ear piercing trend has gone out of hand in Nigeria, the guys formally use clip earrings but now, they pierce it and wear stone full stop earrings. Some wear, golden ones and all sorts of earrings. Even growing teenage boys in secondary schools wear too.
You are a guy and reading this, did you pierce your ear? What is your major reason for doing that? Do you regret it? Would you encourage it to continue and how suitable is it to your outfit.
For me, I dislike it, my brother travelled and came back with it, even braided his hair. My dad threatened thunder, fire and brimstone on him if he doesn't stop it. Does it look and feel responsoble for guys to do these things.
PoliticsDescribe Kabir Ahmed ( The Exam Officer) That Attached The Recent Passport. by chocolateme(op): 2:36am On Jan 26, 2015
This whole result and certificate saga may never come to an end. I read a topic where he explained that he had to attach GMB's recent passport photograph as the old one could not be found, and he stated that Buhari is yet to come in for verification. That he was simply told of the problem and he helped by doing his job.
Does it mean that he just attached Buhari's recent passport to an unknown person's result and certificate even without checking on the subjects and the surname which didnt match? Buhari on the other side could not quickly identify his own result after seeing it. GMB should have gone to verify the certificate which is the normal procedure. I think thats the reason why there is A1 in Igbo language of that result even though Igbo shouldn't have appeared there in the first place. This is a very bad example to our current educational system as most Nigerians are very good at copycat. I just hope that this kind of saga will not be adopted by our institutions with an excuse that our forefathers and leaders started it or that Nigeria is a country where anything is possible.
FashionA Smart Look For The Young Men. by chocolateme(op): 2:30pm On Jan 24, 2015
Many young men are starting their professional lives without as much a clue as to how to dress. This needs to change because they are our leaders of tomorrow and dressing sharp is the first step to becoming a professional.
It's crucial to pay attention to your clothing irrespective of working in a field where there are no strict dress codes, like construction, trading, welder, carpenter etc. most times your clothes introduces you before you introduce yourself and people will be more encouraged to take you seriously when you appear in a well fitted, clean and crisp clothing. I want to share some tips for our young men to consider as it will help them to appear smart and Lloyd good.:
#1: TAKE CARE OF YOUR CLOTHING; Generally speaking, being young means having less money to throw around, if you have shelled out a few pieces of good, quality clothing like a pair of expensive dress shoes, a custom suit, what you have is worth few bucks to take care of it and keeping it in good shape. So you should have good hangers for your suit, good shoe rack for your shoes, at least a tender loving care with your washing machine or good detergent and soap for hand washing them. You can get good quality clothes from thrift shops, all we need do is to adjust, mend and adjust them in a tailor's shop especially if you are lucky to have a common body type, use a good hanger because it contributes to the lasting of the elasticity of your clothes.
#2: DRESS TO LOOK OLDER; Your dressing determines how you are perceived, you still wear clothes that screams " student days" you are going to be treated as a BOY with no experience in the real world . Buck the trend, age your looks a little and get the respect you deserve from older the older men. That means getting rid of the majority of your ultra-casual clothes: T-shirts, cargo pants, jeans shorts, sweatshirts and sweat pants. Save few for yard work and exercise, but donate the rest of it to charity and start replacing it with dressier clothes that speaks to your maturity.
#3: HAVE AT LEAST ONE GOOD SUIT IN THE CLOSET; No matter what your job is, you will be needing a decent suit at home at some point. If its a place where you will wearing one regularly, then you should look for varieties of colors and styles.if you just need a single suit for infrequent dress occasions stick with a classic single-breasted, two-button suit in charcoal gray or navy blue. If you are buying off the rack, take time to have the suit tapered if necessary. A few department stores still offer the offices, but u will more than likely need to find a tailor independently. It's worth the effort since sized suits are made to general measurements. So it's worth it all.
#4: DRESS YOUR FOOTWEAR UP; If you have never owned a very really good shoes, then brace yourself to pay a significant amount of money for well made footwear. You may be shocked at the price tag on a well crafted shoes but the quality and comfort will go a long way and even last for years and stays good for just light cleaning and occasional shinning especially if it is a quality leather footwear.
#5: BUILD FROM AND BLUE SHIRTS: White and light blue cotton dress shirts are the backbone to a sharp wardrobe. It lies in the fact that the both colors make up a higher percentage of the dress shirts sold worldwide and that either color looks good on most complexions and body types. Patterns can liven up the basic white and blue color palette, and there is nothing wrong with branching out into some other colors as your personal style evolves. As long as you have one clean and hanging up in the closet, you will never be completely out of decent looking things to wear.
#6: OWN DARK FITTED JEANS AND KNOW WHEN TO WEAR THEM; Jeans styles are always rips, tears, acids and bleach washing, distressed, stone washed, boot cut, wide leg, low rise, baggy and skinny. Keep it simple and stick to fitted jeans in a dark color, sans fading or rips. You can wear them with a fitted T-shirt for a relaxed casual look or dress them up with a buttoned shirt and a sport jacket for a business-casual style.
#7: LOOK BEYOND DENIM: Well cut and classically styled trousers will make you look a little sharper at social occasions than jeans. They are less common in a young crowd, so you'll already be standing out, and a good pair of chinos trousers has a drape and crease that looks much crisper than denim. You can also get wool or cotton trousers much lighter than blue jeans, which is a blessing in any kind of warm weather.
#8: REPLACE T-SHIRTS WITH POLOS AND SPORT SHIRTS; Wearing t-shirts to gym and or in performing house chores is fine but wearing it to social events or to work is a "no no" especially when the shirts is too big and made from a shoddy fabric advertising the company who gave it to you a decade ago. A good polo is fine, dark color is always presentable and always flattering if its fitted well.
These tips will keep you away from committing fashion and style sins which many young men are guilty of. If you have more tips you will like to add to mine, then feel free to add yours.

FamilyHe Sent Guys To Rob His Parents by chocolateme(op): 11:08pm On Jan 19, 2015
Only him and his "chi" (god) knows what entered his head and put the idea in his head to collect from his parents through robbery, his dad (a military man) was not around on the day of the robbery, himself went out of the state 2 days before the day of the robbery so as not to arouse suspicion on his side.
The hoodlums broke into his house on that fateful day, robbed the mom and things went out of hand and they ended up raping his mom. They were eventually caught and he was busted. After all said and done, parents eventuallygot separated and even his mom has forgiven him and asked him to return home but he refused due to shame. He is somehow successful but at the same time disorganized physically and otherwise. His friends has for close to a year now begged and pleaded with him to go home and see the mom but he refused, don't know why but he ought to have done that by now.
HealthIs He Abnormal Or Healthy Enough To Reproduce? by chocolateme(op): 10:42pm On Jan 13, 2015
He is someone I know from childhood and grew up with, we parted for long when my family parked out from our street which is in the same neighborhood. Once in a while we come across each other either at the market while in my parent's shop or just at the stadium.
Now he is a normal guy, healthy, strong, fit and etc, surprisingly it happened that one of my course mates is his girlfriend and I am friends with her. One talk led to another one day between us and she raised the issue of been worried that the guy may be unable to reproduce if eventually they end up together as their relationship is serious, she said that he has only one ball in his scrotum, that he said it has been that way since birth hmm! Well I don't know what they are doing about it healthwise but I did not ask her about it again because I know the guy must have seen a doctor about it.
Is it really possible for a guy to have just 1(one) and is it normal? Pls don't use abusive languages here, everything must not be jokes ok?thanks.

Ever since they came on seat, the Vice President ( Sambo) seemed to have been on the quiet and low scale side. I have never seen him on tv on any critical function, just always at celebrations, I really don't even know anything about him, who is he supporting or is he JUST THERE!! His voice is hardly heard or is he just on seat to occupy the position, abeg any detail on the man because curiosity just became my neighbor.

PoliticsRe: Nigeria Will Be In Trouble If PDP Wins- Buhari by chocolateme(f): 12:09am On Jan 11, 2015
This is how they make scandalous statements in desperation to win.
Most times I read serious meanings into these words. So in other words, they are responsible for all these BH and their incessant attacks all over the place ever since good luck entered the seat though they had been in existence b4 then but not so active in this cruel manner, so if they take over power from PDP, everything will stop abi? And if not, troubles will continue to emanate. All I know is that 4 to 5 years can never be enough to repair this damaged country to a tolerable extent. One thing is to understand the roots of this failure and another thing is to handle it, if the leaders cannot support the president to do a good job, even bringing down his efforts, how then can everything be alright? Everybody is scrambling to become the president with new ideas and the way forward, why haven't they all presented it to the current administration to help as our former leaders if truly they have the country's interest at heart and not the national CAKE. They are the ones that created all these problems in the first place and want this 4 years administration to work magic on their almost 55 years of instability and political mess. So it's now that they just woke up from slumber, all I can do is to pray for this country and try as much to be a good citizen because charity they said begins at home.

FamilyDomestic Benefits Of The Dry Season (harmattan) by chocolateme(op): 11:40am On Jan 10, 2015
Harmattan comes with both positive and negative effects on us and I want to list out few of its positive effects on us domestically:
Do you know that;
1: it helps our foods to stay longer without getting spoilt even if its not refrigerated or warmed, even if someone steals meat from the soup pot by dipping fingers inside the soup pot.
2: it aids in drying up our clothes minutes after washing them, u will still be washing and most of the first set you washed are already dried out.
3: it seems to avert mosquito bites, not so sure of that but noticed it for myself.
4: we don't usually sweat much during dry season, the sun will be up and the weather would be dry and harsh but we don't sweat.
5: our rest rooms are always dry and free from odors especially in areas where you find pit lavatories, public fast food joints rest rooms, church rest rooms etc. So is also the street gutter and roads with plenty pot holes because everywhere is dry.
6: it's a good weather for drying our foodstuffs, the likes of egwusi, Ogbonna, garri, achicha( Enugu state local food) and so many other kinds of cereals and foods. It also helps for food preservation.
7: if you enjoy bathing hot water, now here is a good weather for it but I will not be responsible for the whoosh of cold breeze that will disorient you immediately you come out from the bathroom, best advice, bath cold water during harmattan.
You can add your own observations too.

TV/MoviesDo You Watch Movies Holding The Remote Controller? by chocolateme(op): 4:46pm On Jan 08, 2015
I have become an addict to holding the remote controller on my hand while watching movies and the reasons are so obvious.
Majority of the seasonal series we see this days are full of long stories, so i always fast foward the movie to get to the main gist. I don't know what Alaba guys are doing to these movies. A movie that reaches season 12, what are they acting, again u see episode (7) written on a particula episode when the movie is at season (10) episode (23) hmm!
I saw movies titled "Handle me with care, Jang Bo Ri, Dysebel, Mara and Clara, etc". Even in action thrillers, adventures, security and criminal investigative movies, they have fresh story line for every new episode, makes the movie boring. I just hope that my favorite movies "Vikings, devious maids, the Legend" will not stretch that far.
What do you find boring in seasonal movies? Not to talk of Nollywood movies hehe.

Two things here:
1 - he's jealous/insecure and;
2 - he doesn't trust you (to repel guys when they advance).
That places a big question mark in the kinda r/ship you two are in.

You don't have to be angry. Just make him see reasons why his stance/fears are unwarranted.

A lady doesn't necessarily have to deal in male shirts before they're 'snatched' from their partner. Just talk to him.

All the best
u just elevated me with that advice thanks loads but I'm really kinda stubborn on decisions and he is too but I'm trying my best. Sometimes I feel the best thing in life is to stay without marrying so that I can be solely responsible for my decisions and how I lead my life and the my mistakes and corrections. It's somehow better. So that when I become very old with age, I can look back and count my blessings and interventions in my life.

Wrong choice of words but I'm so angry sharing this, how can a grown up 34 year old be so foolish in decision making process.
He wants to assist me financially so I can boost my new moving business of male Tshirts, it's working for me within my coast but why does he have to give a condition that I have to change my line of business to female clothing with reasons that my current business will draw guys closer to me and before you know it one man's jewel becomes another man's own.
What's all these nonsense, has women not been dealing on guy's clothings before now? Abel he should evaporate with his assistance and leave me alone. I'm talking about how to make life conducive and bearable for us and future family, he's is busy roasting black with insecurity. I'm even tired of all these Abel, for how long?

Pavore9:
Well some male celebrities do not want to be 'tied down' to a particular woman at a certain stage of their careers because they consider it as being 'restrictive' to what they interpret as 'living the life' and being fathers without being a husband has given them the opportunity to have a child growing up somewhere without the commitment of marriage while they are living the bachelor's life in full, making sure they are forwarding allowances to baby mama and the child, so they can be 'at peace'.

As for the baby mama, some of them are into it in order to be attached to the male celebrity's fame and fortune. It is a means of livelihood for them as once they have a baby for the celebrity, it translates to a comfortable lifestyle.

But in all these it is the child who suffers, knowing he/she is a product of 'calculations' as the father sees him/her as a seed planted someone to grow while he lives his life and the mother regards him/her as a password to access the father's wealth.

This is so anti-family! angry
Wow!! So on point, it's d babies that suffer it all after all. It's a pity how much our mentality can be limited to.

Nigerians knows how to hype cases and do it more than those that introduced it, the last time I checked, it's always a serious case for a young lady to get pregnant out of wedlock but how come it has become a trend now and is even been celebrated.
It's odd and I wonder how these parents rises above the moral implications about it and shine their teeth at the guy responsible for their daughter's pregnancy and again, how come its only among our celebrities that we find those cases? The rate at which it increases by the day ia alarming, hardly will u see a Nigerian artist now (male) without a BABY MAMA. Ok ooo!! Has our babes forgotten that they can still make something meaningful out of their youth that it always occurs to them to get pregnant. Or should I say that they do it to either entrap the guy or get into his payroll.
What if they end up been dumped? An unfortunate average guy will happily take her in as spouse or babe. Well Kudos to our girls. Dem try. But make we dey apply wisdom and self respect in some things, it will help. This issue really makes me angry sometimes but it's their lives shaa, just wanted to share it.
FamilyAs A Man, Can You Do This? by chocolateme(op): 6:57pm On Dec 31, 2014
Outside this country, people may feel and see it normal and usual but in our loving country Nigeria higher percentage of our men would never go for it maybe because of ego or just to preserve self respect.
You are a man with wife and kids, it happens that you had a temporal financial setback and it affected your tenancy, (worst case scenario quit notice from your landlord)
If your father in-law gives you an apartment in his building where he also lives with his family, would you accept it? Whether its a flat for you to pay rent or not, do you think it will depreciate the respect you earn from your wife or your inlaws? Will it be ok with you to be coming in contact with them on daily basis and knowing fully well that your wife and kids will 24 hours of the day be staying with them? For me, there is a limit to what a man can do, I may not deem it wise because with time, u will never have to run your home as u feel fit without the interference of your inlaws, what do u think?

Yesterday my dad sent me to one boutique at Lawanson to go collect his goods bought by a customer there but could not sell it fast because of the cost of each of the foot wears. Gucci designers high heeled foot wear @ 25k each, total 8 pairs in number. I was meant to send it to my parents through GUO at Jibowu to Onitsha.
I waited for the main owner of the boutique to come back and release the goods and he came in late by 9:14 last night. After signing out the 8 pairs, I packed it and left. I entered Maruwa to shitta to go home cause it was late though I put the bag at the back booth of the Maruwa, I alighted at Shitta and the Maruwa rode off, few minutes later I remembered the bag hei!!! U need to see my actions yesternight, I ran to the nearest men standing to cross road and started screaming anod pushing them "oga pls pursue it, catch up with it, stop it" while I was at the same time pointing towards the direction the Maruwa guy took Chei!! They were starring at me as if I've gone nuts, That was when irealized that I have not said anything meaningful to them, I started ranting and shouting that I forgot my shoes in that Maruwa. They told me later to enter another
Maruwa and go looking for the guy. I boarded one for drop and noticed he wasn't ready to ride like mad, I jumped down from it, removed my high heels and ran barefooted to find a bike as it just occurred to me.
One surprising thing about this whole scenario is that while I was in that Maruwa heading to Shitta, one stupid thought asked me if what if I forget those shoes in that Maruwa, I answered back out aloud " that one no fit happen" now make una follow me see the mess I put myself in.
My dad's incoming call interrupted my fear as I was on that bike silently begging God to pity me, I didn't know whether to answer or not, confusion filled me up. I kept checking up on every Maruwa we overtake till we got close to Lawanson bus stop, THEN my eyes caught my bag through the transparent shield of that Maruwa's back leather Yeeee!!! We overtook it and I almost flew down from the moving bike ( who cares, I was overwhelmed with happiness that I also lost my appetite) I walked up to him and collected my bag, he has loaded passengers and was also oblivious of my bag still in his booth. I am still speechless at that brief moment of madness. Somebody praise God for me, I for enter parents wahala last night. Have u had any experience on that before? Happy Sunday fellows.

I am still speechless at that brief moment of madness. Somebody praise God for me, I for enter parents wahala last night. Have u had any experience on that before? Happy Sunday fellows.

I feel sorry for some people and the circumstances surrounding the loss of their phones, I had been wallowing in self pity for myself since more than a month now. I lost precious documents that day.
I don't understand some people and their conscience sometimes, I got this job recently and was at the office busy when one of the guys that came for job search approached me pleading to use my phone to make an emergency call, I handed over my phone to him only to realize almost 3 minutes later that this guy has left the office with my phone, at first it seemed like a joke but towards closing time, it dawned on me that I've lost the phone. To make matters worst, that morning I decided to disable the security password code (wrong timing). Is that now the latest trend to stealing phones these days? I feel bad sha.
