searay2: Sometimes ago I read a story about Saudy Arabia amputating the hand of a Nigerian who they said was a thief and I ask, is stealing in the hands or is it in the mind? I remembered amputating the right fore limb of a rat but it did not repent.
It would have been a welcome idea if programs and seminars are organise for the youths aiming at transforming their minds.
Renewing the mind of the youths would have gone along way addressing this issue.
An educated, well trained and employed/empowered person will not engage in vices of this nature because with money a man can approach any woman and have the her for keep or for the unmentionables.
Madam commissioner, when you cut thier unmentionables, don't you think that cutting of this unmentionables from the owners will results in another thing where groups of people whose unmentionables have been cut will engage in attacking peoples unmentionables? I rest my case!
You are only saying this because you are a potential ra,pist (Please I am being sarcastic). I totally get your point and completely agree with you. Thank you for having common sense which happens to not be too common these days.
I SEE HOW FAR YOUR EDUCATION HAS TAKEN YOU! IN YOUR BLINDNESS , YOU CANT EVEN DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN A PAGAN TRIBAL TRADITIONALIST AND AN ATHEIST! angry angry angry angry

who is going to pay for the jail? ISNT IT THE COMMON MANS TAX MONEY! WHEN THE OPPORTUNITY COST FOR THE TAX MONEY CAN BE USED FOR MORE USEFUL PURPOSES SUCH AS ROADS, HOSPITALS, ETC. . WHY SHOULD THE COMMON MAN AND THE INSTITUTION BEAR THE BRUNT OF THE SOMEONE ELSE'S CRIME?!

THERE IS NO NEED FOR REHABILITATION. PPL WILL KEEP COMMITTING CRIMES, GO TO JAIL AND THEN COME OUT UNDER THE PRETEXT OF REFORM, ETC.

CASTRATE THE MAN AND/OR TORTURE & KILL HIM! RAP.E IS THE MOST DEGRADING CRIME THAT CAN EVER BE COMITTED ON A PERSON! EVEN DEATH IS PREFERABLE!

LET THIS BE AN EXAMPLE FOR OTHERS! DO YOU REALISE HOW LOW THE CRIME IS IN COUNTRIES IN THE GULF. I HATE MANY OF THEIR SHARIAA BASED LAWS, BUT I AM NOT A LIAR. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE CRIME RATE IS WHERE LOW THERE. PPL FEAR TO GET ON THE WRONG SIDE. THERE MUST BE SOME DEGREE OF FEAR AND RESPECT FOR THE LAW.
Hahahahahahaha!!!!!

So in other words no need for prisons abi? Once found guilty of a crime no matter the depth the person should be killed and should not be reformed to save the tax money of the common man. I hope you are aware that your ideologies have been practised by mankind before Sometime in the stone ages or something like that. But as we Human beings eveolved, developed and improved our approach to things changed. But however since you choose to remain like that i will respect your choice. I rest my case with you as your mind is made up. By the way why the rage? Argue like a mature person ok. But our discussion is over anyways.
who are you to decide what is modern or not. you are just playing follow-follow to what the west does. by castrating a rapist , e is not being disabled to the point of unproductivity. it is just to curb any such crimes in the future and prevent the fellow from repeating it again and to make society safe for our girl children to move around unmolested. angry
Answer to bolded I am educated and qualified to be law maker. So by virtue of that I am entitled to have an opinion on what is ethical and civil because I have a mind and a voice. OK? Now adressing your point about castrating a molester to prevent further occurence: So you think it is better to castrate the criminal rather than locking his ass up in jail. In that case the criminal is likely to carry out revenge on the molested victim and executioners of his castration sentence. What stops him from murdering the person who rendered him castrated, after all the law has taken its course on him by castrating him. Look the point of sentencing a person to prison is not just to punish the person but to rehabilitate the person to prevent the individual from going back to his/her criminla ways. That is why I still say that the proposed law is senseless and stinks of so much ignorance. Stepping out now but I would really like to know what you have to say in reply. You are an atheist I expect it to be reasnable, sensible and above all LOGICAL. Cheers

larrymoore: If a lady is d molester, the should cut of her 'unmentionable' frankly, guys, u are being double standard, what if ur sister or wife or mother was molested n d fool was brought to u, would u clap 4 him?
I don't think anybody in their right thinking senses would not support a molester getting punished for such a henious crime. But castration is too barbaric and uncivilised a punishment. What's wrong with prison time even if its for life. Imagine cutting of the hand of a thief for stealing or cutting of the tongue of a person for lying under oath. In modern day society there are civilised ways to handle criminals. Please oo I hope you are smart enough to get my point! dont conclude that I am a thief or liar or R.apist because of my opinion or else we go start to de fight for here. I take God beg you!

Only senseless arrogant human beings take such nonsense into consideration. Productivity and job or business promotion is all about skill, performance, experience and intelligence. If not the president would have been the oldest man in the country, governor oldest man in the state e.t.c. Silly way of thinking. Those are the kind of people they term enemies of progress angry, the same category of people who will see four young boys with a bright future and kill them for no reason just because they know they will inevitably do far better than they will ever do in life. Christianity EtcRe: TB Joshua Spends £100,000 (N26m) To Send Nigerian Student To Oxford University by chreldb(m): 11:39pm On Nov 20, 2012
Sagamite: Err, when I was in university, PhD students used to handle tutorial sessions.

Are you saying, PhD guys don't get some payment or funding for their research?
Those tutorial sessions, laboratory assistance and exam invigilation kind of jobs are not constant they come once in a while and the money a PhD student can make from them is negligible. Apart from that they are on volunteer basis and not part of the programme. Maybe once every 2 months they can earn an extra 100 pounds from those volunteer jobs if they are lucky. The funding for their research is derived from their school fees (foreign students) being paid through their scholarship. While their monthly stipend is being paid to them also as a result of their scholarship. If a supervisor wants a student to work for him doing a PhD. The best he can do get that student a source of funding through a scholarship program. Thats where it stops. People that are paid outrightly for research assistance are post doc research assistants and post doc research fellows. And you have to have completed a PhD to get those jobs.

Science/TechnologyRe: Gene Can Predict Likely Time Of Death - Scientists by chreldb(m):
Goddys: The problem we have in this country is lack of understanding.I was extremely bamboozled that none of you comprehend the points the write up is elucidating. The write up does not include the time of death caused by social phenomena as determinable rather it stresses that the time of death(caused by natural occurrences) is determinable based on the aforementioned genes. To me,this write up is a fact.As a professional philosopher,I observed through critical thinking and adept observation that every human being on earth has a particular time,he/she gets overly agitated to pursue his/her goal in life.To some,it may be in the morning, others at noon, and to another in the midnight. The above write up is stressing that all these eruptions are caused by the aforementioned genes. From their experiments, they discovered that these genes play important roles on when the body finally separate from the incoporeal soul. This is an undeniable possibilty. Thanks
It is not enough evidence scientifically to conclude that due to polymorphism of a gene a certain trait (in this case sleeping time) is being expressed differently in organisms. It can only exist as a hypothesis or observation for now. Just a few questions: What post translational factors does that gene encode? What are the differences in these translated proteins transcribed from the different gene polymorphisms? In what cells are these genes expressed? what are the signalling mechanisms from those proteins that bring about the cellular functions that derives those sleeping and death time traits? Many more questions to be asked. I get your point though but there is still a lot of questions that need to be answered and the scientists should have done their research thoroughly before making their findings public. Anyways maybe they just published for the sake of accumulating more papers.
Christianity EtcRe: TB Joshua Spends £100,000 (N26m) To Send Nigerian Student To Oxford University by chreldb(m): 6:50pm On Nov 20, 2012
Sagamite: The last time I checked, the average tuition fees for Oxford was £16,500. In 3 years, that is less than £51K.

Monthly expense of 1K for 3 years is £36K. that is £87K in total.

Not to state that I don't see why someone that is being sponsored should stay for for 12 months in a year in a more expensive country, instead of 9 months.

Not to talk of the fact that PhD students get paid for teaching and research assistant work, so sponsors don't have to give them all their money requirement in full in the first place.
I am not talking based on what i searched online. I am talking from experience. Ok you might be right about the Oxford tuition fees but thats relatively cheap compared to some other universities and other courses apart from engineering in the UK. Even at that it still comes to 87k. Now you have not put into consideration that as a PhD student there are other things you need to spend money on like travelling allowance within and outside the UK to conferences to present posters and papers. Secondly the teaching and research assistance work you are talking about does not happen in the UK, it is more common in the US and Canada. The stipend being paid to PhD students is their living expense which is part of the scholarship they are awarded. Nobody will bring out 1ook pounds from his/her pocket and to do a PhD in the UK except you are under a form of sponsorship thats the whole idea of the being paid as a PhD student in the UK. Bottom line a 1oo k worth of scholarship in a University such as Oxford in th UK is very reasnable and realistic. Once again I am talking from first hand experience. I rest my case.

WTF is this load of junk!!! This is a mockery of science angry angry. is using the terms nucleotides and genotype supposed to give credibility to this nonsense? angry Even the title of the topic says a lot about its stewpidity. "Gene can predict likely time of death". Who is gene? a human being or a fortune teller? tongue Anybody well grounded in molecular biology or the mechanisms of gene expression and its relationship to protein production as well as the hereditary function of DNA will know this is just rubbish. I've read the book where th OP extracted that from. The author seemed somewhat insane. There was a part she wrote that she saw Micheal Jackson and demons were tormenting him and flogging him. And anytime anyone on earth sings his song he gets double dosage of flames from the fire or something like that. Anyways I did not buy her story one bit it was just too psychotic.

Sagamite: Moronic story to the person congregation he leads like blind sheep!

No 1, a PhD in Oxford does not cost £100K. Not even if it was in Medicine, talkless of Engineering.

No 2, except this person Man of Con is admitting he is a looter, he did not sponsor the student. The congregation did. It was the church's money, not his, why is he claiming the glory.

Fool and more foolish followers.
@ bolded, a combination of tuition fees and living expenses for three years (36 months) will accumulate to about 100k pounds. @ 1000 pounds monthly living expense for 36 months and 22,000 pounds yearly tuition for three years, do the maths. I agree with your second point but without the insults.
