Why does a modern passenger aircraft still use a yoke? It is 2018 and we are still using something from the 1940's or earlier. Planes today don't have mechanical or hydraulic connections to the yoke or controls. A joystick is more ergonomic and looks cleaner. |
Impressive customer service. A few weeks ago I received an email, advertising the prices of solar panels. He had LG Panels at super competitive rates. I asked for a data sheet and he sent them. I told him I would buy. Last week I requested an invoice. On Thursday I paid rather late. At 4 am I got an email asking for a contact phone number. By 9 am Friday I got phone call asking when I wanted delivery. An hour later I got another phone call from the driver apologizing for disturbing me, he was on his way and wanted to confirm my location. On arrival he offloaded the vehicle, showed me every panel and put them in our warehouse. A few hours later the owner of the business Palette Business Solutions Mr. Charles Mezu called me to thank me for my business and trust. And asked if it was okay to come and meet me in person. I was so stunned that I gave him another order bigger than the one I had made. This morning they delivered the next order and a few hours later he came to visit. Quality people and quality products. Please call them for your LG and Jinko panels. +234 803 373 1860. I normally beg for invoices and I had someone not only deliver but come to thank me |

Did you know that smile caps you once you get past a certain amount of data usage on their unlimited plan? My internet stopped working and for days I could not even sent whatsapp messages. I purchased airtel yesterday and sent them a message thinking it was a network problem. They told me that I had used over 80 gb and they had deliberately made it impossible for me to get online. Fair usage policy. I asked why it was not disclosed when I selected the plan? Why was it not disclosed after I had paid for the plan? The response. It is on our website sir. They are thieves plain and simple and it should be against the law to sell a plan that is called unlimited if your are going to be limited. Spectranet is just as bad. Ntel with all their problems is the only carrier that gives you a true unlimited plan. Dump Smile and Spectranet. |

earthrealm:I don't use the inverter anymore. |

Ativ:Good morning. These are very serious questions. I will charge you for each. Let me answer as well as I can. 1. No I don't recommend them for flooded batteries. No EQ function yet. 2. I don't think durability is affected. The failures of the Voltronics units had nothing to do with high voltage it was a quality of components issue. At least that is what I was told. The 5 kva units were the units that were prone to failure 3. I have not imported their Lithium batteries. Yes it is stackable 2 units. The Victron experience is unique to that manufacturer 4. Yes I still believe that flooded batteries are an incredible value should you want something that would give you a lengthy service life 5. I can't answer. Each importer / manufacturer has their reasons. The failure with the flooded batteries are in large part due to the user. Ours ran dry and could not recover. The Trojans were more forgiving. They all need to be properly charged. You can get away with infrequent improper charges but when it is continuous for months coupled with deep depths of discharge they will always fail.A generator is a must if you are off grid completely. I counted on the grid to be my gen but we went many months with no grid power and the batteries could not recover. When I started with my flooded batteries I had some very bad solar panels. They were sold to me as 250 watt panels. I finally purchased a Fangpusen FM and the best I saw from my 4 panels was less than 200 watts. I replaced them with 4 good 250 watt panels from Renesola and I saw a marked improvement. So now I was charging my 8 batteries with 1 kw in panels using a Yiyen inverter that had a DOD set at below 0% The rest is history. I have 3.5 kw in panels now and I intend to add more in addition to a generator. I don't want to lose batteries again due to my poor knowledge of what is involved in purchasing components or designing a system. |
earthrealm:I have a Growatt SPF5000 and it runs my 1.5 hp water pump, refrigerator and freezer all at the same time with no problems |

Saipro:The original Yiyen inverters used to go poof. |
Looking for one quality used 300 watt poly panel. I have 5 and need a 6th or I am forced to use a 250 V Victron Controller. |
Growatt: In December 2018 we took delivery of three Growatt Inverters and we did videos on them and at the time based on promises that had been made recommended them for purchase. The firmware version that we originally had was outdated. The new version we got was still not adequate. The Max battery cut off was 44 Volts and the Max battery charge voltage was 57.4. Needless to say we destroyed our lead acid batteries, because they never got to the maximum voltage needed to charge them. (Remember the LONG batteries they were also used on the Growatt we installed for a client). I was forced to use external charge controllers to try and charge my batteries. Early this week I wrote Growatt an email voicing my displeasure at promised firmware update that was not met and my next video will unrecommend them. They promised an update by weekend and this morning they did an update over the air. The max battery cut off is now 60 V. The bulk and absorb can go from 48 - 59V and the low battery cut off can be set up from 40 - 50 V. Enjoy your Growatt. They are quiet and a work horse. I have run a 2 hp water pump, refrigerator, freezer, fans and lights all at the same time with nary a whimper from the unit.

NiyiOmoIyunade:We have a US 2000 that exploded at one of our customer installations. The getting hot and failing is so common with the US Battery. A more than 25% failure rate. I have yet to have any issues with the Trojan L16 and I have a few that have been abused. I will not recommend US Battery. The factory gives you some BS and blame the user. I told them that real life experience trumps whatever they can replicate in the lab.

Long Batteries. As most of you know I have been installing 6V flooded batteries exclusively since 2014. We started with the Trojans and when we could not get them we started to use the US Batteries. The Trojans beat the US Batteries hands down in my opinion. We will revisit this later. December last year we installed 4 Long 200AH batteries for a client whom we sold Lithium batteries while waiting for them to arrive. They were installed with a Growatt SP5000 running an older version of firmware. The firmware limited charge voltage to 54 and allowed for a discharge to 42V. Two weeks ago we removed the batteries and I have been using them at my installation and WOOOOOOOOW. I run my freezer lights and fans through the night and wake up to between 49.3 and 50 V. The lowest we experienced was 48.4 V the first night it was installed. We watch TV at night run the refrigerator till 7pm and freezer 24/7. Today on a very cloudy day I pumped water while my fridge and freezer where on and the lowest voltage I saw was 50.4 V. I was pulling 1300 watts out and putting in between 600 and 800 watts as the conditions varied. I have ironed in the morning and not triggered a low voltage alarm. For a battery that endured 7 months of poor charging and discharge to still perform as well as this does today, I doff my hat to LONG. Well done. Bravo on a well built battery. They weigh a ton though. |
Malevonent:All your battery cables should be the same size. From inverter to battery and between batteries. Everyone including me has got an opinion. You should not be surprised then that your batteries are not behaving. You did not listen to the installer. |
NiyiOmoIyunade: |
Malevonent:Do your cables get hot when charging? 16MM in my opinion is too thin. Just my opinion. |
Malevonent:Check you interconnecting cables and the cable from the battery to the inverter. Are the the same size? Are they the correct size? Are they properly lugged? Are the connections tight? Finally are they of equal length? You will be in shock how something that simple can cause an absurd amount of headache. |
Disco01:what voltage 6V 12V 24 or 48 V? 200AH at 12 V is 2400 Watt hours. Usable is half of that which is 1200 watts hours. Divide you 200 into 1200 and you have your answer. |
NiyiOmoIyunade:Thank you for the answer. I think Zinox was being lazy. Voltronics power had a serious quality control issues with the Axpert 5 kva units. They failed after so many cycles. There is a video on YouTube that gets into it. They corrected the issue after 2016 or 17 I was told, An Iron heats up for 30 seconds and then stops and can go for another minute before the heating element comes on again for a shorter period. I can't see how that would stress your inverter but wetin I sabi. We used a microwave on the 3 kva Axpert (a big microwave), the inverter died because of a short circuit in the house wiring. The bare wires touched the chassis of the inverter after a Kazeem electrician had done work. It lasted over 2 years with Microwave use. My experiences are a bit different. Does not make me right or you wrong. I hope we are all learning from the experience and the information that we share. |
NiyiOmoIyunade:My understanding is a bit different. Inductive loads like AC, pumps were more of a challenge for the transformerless inverters due to their low surge abilities. Irons and microwaves have never been an issue. They don't surge they draw a steady amount of powers. Please help me correct my misconception that I have held for years. |
kiekie1:Thank you sir. You have covered all the places I can be found |
We have the Tesla smart running. Solar priority. The client has his swimming pool pump, water pump, household appliances and a hot water heater on it. They average between 1500 and 2300 watts in consumption. This gives them about 3 to 4 hours with no solar power. We have not installed our BMS yet so we have limited our capacity to a little over 5kwh. We have 3080 w in PV installed. We will be adding additional PV. The generator is set up as a resource. The system starts and stops it, to meet battery or load conditions. Enjoy.
