Music/RadioRe: Whats Going On In Hip-hop? (small Boy Rappers Dissing Big Boys) by Christino(m): 2:40pm On Dec 14, 2006
@ naijafan,

Yeah and right mean the same, na only women dey talk yeahright when dem no gree with wetin you talk. Hip hop, use "word" or "respect" or something more poetic than the dust-raising "yeah right" grin

I've said it before small footed and short sighted rappers kick start their carriers by dissing rappers with big names. Even here in Naija it's not new.

Plats like awards require lots of publicity and marketing. houses like Def Jam and Bad boy are known to pay DJs to play hit tracks of their upcoming artistes or whack tracks once they've made the stupid name. Videos show up in no time. If you can't get DJ's and Radio MCs to play your tracks, no one gets to know them, no one gets to buy. I mean you need plenty of Hype, posters and advertorials.

Don't be surprised Missy has sold more copies than Nas. 50 cent has sold more than DMX and so on.

"The way that things are going i don't know, tell me why are we so blind to see that the ones we hurt are you and me. . . (Coolio, Gangsta's Paradise)" smiley

And for rappers having to become thugs at all cost, I totally disagree with that. Be proud of who you are, that's why I scatter laugh when I hear some under 16 NLs talking about 44s and AKs like they've ever seen one before, if that's the case then Liberians and Sierra Leoneans who have carried Guns and Ammo taller than their height should be the best to give us some gangsta education not boys who haven't seen more than kitchen knives, snuff and cigarrettes (let alone cigars, weed and coke) grin

@ Phenom,

You are warmly welcome in the Jury, but the illiest lines won't win if you guys are scared to speak up, forget about pals for now and let's give honour to whom it's due, don't voice out only when you feel your pal is wrongly cheated let him know when the other has dropped a better one - that's transparency in the spirit of sportsmanship, remember we are humans and no one is perfect, that's why those of us indirectly involved in the tourney should be as impartial as possible.

I believe we can do it. Let's do this guyz.
Rap BattlesRe: Greatest Rapper On Nairaland Volume Two(group Tournament) by Christino(m): 2:27am On Dec 14, 2006
Aight, go ahead, Mukina's working on that too, so we can even have a poll, let's hope seun reasons with that, if not we'll have to respect that and stick with out thread.

Seun'll prolly merge them into the main one, he wouldn't even mind merging this one with the former tourney thread.

@ Paddy:

If you won't be around, you have the fixtures, you can drop your bars with your group leader.

The Judges have always been Mukina2 and Christino, but this time we are adding a third judge, Drusilla (a poet) so that we don't have a tie anymore. Last competition we had to reschedule a fixture because we couldn't agree on a winner and viewers were biased. THis time we have three so that there is no possibility of a tie.

Our peeps in DIASPORA please take note of the time. It's in GMT and not PST.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Will Henry Quit Arsenal? by Christino(m): 11:23am On Dec 12, 2006
A team without a match-winner is nothing, because the players are doing well in his absence does not mean he's dispensable or vice versa, truth is Arsenal needs him more than he needs her and they are more successful when he's on form, check the records. So who replaces him, little Walcott or RVN or Heskey grin?

Jokes EtcRe: Copy and Paste Yahoo! Offlines IM in Here. <all The Funnies And Rumours> by Christino(op): 1:12am On Dec 12, 2006
When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in
a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 cups of
coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front
of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and
empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then
asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was. The
professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.

He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between
the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They
agreed that it was. The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured
it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked
once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous
"yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and
poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty
space between the sand. The students laughed.

Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to
recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things:

God, your family, your children, your health, your friends and your
favorite passions; and if everything else was lost and only they
remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the "other things that matter" like your job, your house
and your car.

The sand is everything else; "the small stuff."

If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room
for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend
all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for
the things that are important to you. "Pay attention to the things that
are critical to your happiness. Take care of the golf balls first--the
things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee
represented. The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to
show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room
for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

3. Hoodloyalz: Menike, Hoodboi, JDuck and JerryPeps
4. Metafuh Mataduhz: Tianshie, Toosyno and Paddy_lo

Now that we are good to go, let's leave a day to clear all excuses. If within one day we don't get up to four more groups, then Mukina will release the fixtures on Wednesday 1200 GMT.

For quick reference, check the first page of this thread for some of the rules. We can start to countdown.

Tourney begins Friday 100 GMT. Y'all know how we doit! Tell your friends on other threads or forums to come be witnesses and make sure your group members are available, no individual bursting at separate times you burst in together as a group,so make good use of your messenger and emails. THis is to avoid someone bursting for another person or someone coming in to say I didn't write those lines, no drama please.

There ain't no material prize, so it's not a do or die affair-no cloning or duplicating. No rhyme stealing without quotation marks, (googling each rap line for sure!), let's make this one more transparent and interesting.

As usual, bursting is twice, any group can go first.

Make your group available at all cost, if the opposition are not responding after the stipulated time, drop yours so we can go on.

Hoping someday we'll all do a collabo "NL Mixtapes" Let's keep reppin. Bring it on and inspire yourselves. Start writing.

Impaq,

Half Season ends December, I can tell you January starts a new and "HOT" desperate season. IT's going to be a different ball game altogether, goals coming in from all angles. Now the highest goal scorer has 9, half season, by full season we'll see an 25 goals, that's 16 more than this, so it shows more goals are coming in, maybe from an unexpected angle. Let's wait and see.

@ Amodu & CO.

Who created this thread? Def. not me!

I have no hatred for Chelsea, neither do i for any football club in the world. Their win or loss don't affect me, infact I gat more
support for Chelsea than Man U & Arsenal put 2gether because our own Mikel Obi is right there. What makes u think I h8 them? But if they were up against Newcastle, Everton or Portsmouth, I wouldn't. My team is Boro. If your team gat Africans, Naija esp. playing well, i'm in support. That's why I really don't hate Bolton and Arsenal for offloading Naija's greatests.

Remember that when all the british teams came out tops in the group stages recently, I gave credit to Roman for bringing seriousness to the EPL, why hate on him afterwards?

@ Chidi,

your posting this time is such a humble one that it indicates your interest to learn.
Preach preacher, servant's listening.

if u are talking football, it is a very different thing from talking football clubs.
International football, club football, which other one's left? which one are we talking about, did you intend to misyarn?

i would want to let u into the pictures of the clubs. apart from football trophies, clubs have many more businesses
from where they make up. do not ever go thinking that because madrid did not win any trophy in ten years, it will make them
poor.

Of all examples to cite, why Madrid? Why not Newcastle? How dare you bring Real into this shiznit? did you ever bother to
read up the history of Madrid and Barca? Do you know the capacity of their Stadium? Do you know their fan support base and
worldwide audience? Do you know the legends that have played there? Do you know how great their history and impact are? How can you compare a club that has culture and records? So much to be said but please don't annoy the God of football by
thinking of "Legendary" Clubs in that manner! grin
Don't be quick to mention Real Madrid, the 'galacticos'. I'll wait till Chelsea reproduce their Local and European form
before buying that opinion.

there are a lot of differences between a club buying the likes of Emmanuel Ebue who is ready to play off his heart
in the pitch and a club buying beckham who is not ready to struggle for football.
they have their different values.
the clubs make a lot of money from the big names and that is while big names are mostly in big clubs.
madrid despite their inabilities to get throphies for about three seasons now, they are still fucking rich.
you as a fan has interests in winning matches and trophies while the club owners have their eyes on the end product which is
cash. they are investors and all they need is gain.

Real are a great club, before they bought Beckham they had the likes of Figo,Zidane,Raul & Co and were building a brand of
galacticos. They can afford to pay his salary consistently, popularity, good management, Club Culture (did you notice how
club elections go in spain? Like political stuffs shey?)

IF all they needed was gain, why sack coaches because the trophies refuse to come? Why the hell did Ranieri have to go?
Why get Mourinho at all cost (BLASPHEMY?!!!) How do you gain if you don't progress? what is progress in fooball? Why did
Man-U's popularity and revenue skyrocket in 1999? What happened after Liverpool won the European cup? What's happening in Barca now?

Clubs make money from merchandise (jerseys and other artifacts), TV & Media and most of all, Gate tickets. Go check all the
big clubs, they have a large number of seats. Even when Arsenal was managing it's pint sized stadium, gate tickets were high
(now they have 60,000, imagine the volume of revenue) yet they have a salary cap even Cole "had to leave" because he was being offered 55,000 (Imagine that!).

Don't be deceived. That clubs declare profits don't mean they don't have debts. I'll help you get the list of the last
accounts of the top 20 clubs in Europe, that should help.
Endorsement goes to big names, yes, not to the clubs. Endorsement goes to club due to popularity and achievement alone.

Remember chelsea's previous sponsors before Roman's take over? Deeeurrrhhh.
Do you think Beckham pays Real for his endorsement? Nope, what they'll get from Beckham is more people coming in to see his games(Esp Asian tours), buy his jerseys and other artifacts!!!

Do you even know how much you get by winning the league and European cup? Assignment!

Even though Madrid have a long history, they only overtook Man-U in revenue some few years back, when they got Beckham.
Before the Glazers took over Man-U, they could afford 30,000 men like Ferdinand and Rooney and a host of other money gulping transfers including Ronaldo, Djemba Djemba, Saha and Co.
How many heavy transfers did Chelsea go for before Roman's Arrival? Or do you think them Shevy and co were purchased from Chelsea's purse?

Since you only jumped into Chelsea because of their exploits you probably know little about them. Needless to say, they have the best Medical Facility around the country, because after spending hell millions on players, they have to recover from injury as quickly as possible. That is some good business strategy. Roman has billions because he's a wise businessman, withdraw his millions and all you FAKE chelsea supporters'll shift to West Ham! grin

Presently WestHam are not paying very heavy salaries. Imagine they had Ballack. Multiply his wages by 52 (that's for a year)
and deduct it from their annual profit (that's if they make profits sef) it's going to be hell the following season. Relegation
palaver.

bottom Line. Chelsea is standing because of Roman's millions. Pre - Roman Chelsea can go as far as 3rd or 4th in the EPL and salary cap was decent enough. Withdraw Roman's millions now and see what happens? IT's relegation, i can bet that. You may be thinking what's changed the players are still there, but i'll tell you what.
They'll need to sell shares they can't defend, borrow from the bank with plenty of mortgage, Sell some players, like them Ballack (who wants to pay their wages anyway, not Bolton definitely - they refused to buy Rivaldo because he couldn't accpet
60,000 a month!) Do you get my point? Teacher?

Man-U were already the worlds richest club before take over and can defend it. Chelsea too dey over do. No compare with
Portsmouth and WestHam till them start. The title of the thread is the fall of Chelsea, how can they fall, and I just told you.

I don't argue thrice. A word in your ear!

You make me laugh honestly. Please get more "soccer" Education! lipsrsealed

@ Chidi,

Maybe i'll be here, maybe not, but the EPL will live longer than him definitely, when he dies, i don't know if chelsea will be able to cope with such "gbese". If you don't cut your coat according to your cloth, that's what you get. Ask Leeds and Birmingham.

There's hardly any club in the EPL without gbese, but Chelsea's would be too much. I hope they are breeding young players now cos if not, they'll only end up like Real Madrid. Buying overperformers yet underachieving.

Check their trading profit and loss account, has Chelsea ever sold a player for the same price they bought him for? Let alone make a gain. That's "gbese!" - the beginning of a great fall.
