What a joke this is. |
The sad thing about Nigeria is that we will do little or nothing to mitigate the effects of this prediction until it happens and destroys so much. That's when we'd start applying a fire brigade approach to remedy an already disastrous situation. |
Ghen-ghen! |
pocohantas:Car lots not properly structured or cited on illegal structures can be shut down. I have not been to Festac recently but I know that place has always been a big hub for automobile dealership from way back. It's one of the few places where you have large clusters of car marts and the ones I know are gated and cited in enclosed compounds. You won't want to stock up cars ranging from 5m upwards and leave them in an open space. |
ornicus:So says a donkey with an IQ of -1. The people who sell there apparently live in that axis and bought/leased properties there for their businesses. If they have not flouted any law of the state that says that shouldn't sell cars there, then nobody can shut them down. Apparently, morons like you don't even think before talking. You just comment on the internet because you feel you need to talk irrespective of whether what comes out of your mouth makes sense or not. |
ornicus:And so? So because of that, they should shut them down? Is it your property that they bought or rented to open car lots? |
I just de observe... |
Our problems are multifaceted and they are not just limited to the madness at the borders. Four years ago when the Fulani herdsmen crisis picked up steam in the middle belt, I predicted that Nigeria was heading for a national crisis where food shortage was imminent and slowly, we're getting there. When the government says it's closing borders to encourage local rice production sales and the local rice cost as much as 19-21k in the market and minimum wage is 30k(which has not yet even been agreed on), I wonder what kind of magic we want to perform. From taraba to adamawa, nassarawa, benue, plateau, zamfara, we have insecurity of herdsmen crisis, armed banditry and kidnappings. Communities that were hitherto known for farming have been sacked and a lot of farmers have had to flee from those villages down to the south thereby, reducing the output of locally farmed goods. Same thing can be said of states like borno, yobe. Even southern kaduna, katsina and sokoto are not left out of the madness of insecurity that is ravaging the north of Nigeria. At the office, I see trailers of northerners coming into Lagos every blessed day. The long and short of it is that the insecurity in the north and middle belt, has reduced the location production of food. Secondly, some of the people who still farm grains, yam and rice in the north, do not sell them immediately. They wait for the price to go high in the northern market before selling so they can make more profit and when these goods come to the south, the prices increase astronomically. Why do these prices go so high you might want to ask? The number of check points these transporters have to pass through and settle with bribes from the north to the south, is alarming. These monies are added to the cost of the goods and when they get here, become very expensive. It's the sole reason why you can buy a bag of local rice in the north for 9k as I have heard but when it gets to Lagos, it sells for 19k and above. It's the same reason why you can buy a basket of tomatoes for 5k in the north but when it gets to Lagos, it becomes 18k or more. This is another reason why traders would rather prefer to buy the products from our neighbors in Benin and bring them into Lagos. If goods produced locally in Nigeria can become so expensive just by moving from the north to the south, then you can expect that people would rather choose to import cheaper ones from our neighbors and sell. Look at automobiles for example. Why should the tariff for a car coming in through our Nigerian ports, be more expensive than the one paid when vehicles come in through Cotonou? If clearing cars in Lagos ports are cheap, who would bother to buy the ones from Cotonou? The failure of govt in Nigeria automatically contributes and encourages smuggling activities across our borders and until the government at the center gets its acts right, we'd still continue to deal with these problems. Like I said earlier, our problems are multifaceted and the truth is that, smuggling across the border has been made attractive due to the failure of govt policies at the center. |
May his soul rest in perfect peace. |

Lekan1o1:The way some of you talk at times leaves one wondering how you think. I should stop lying? Lying that what? Am I the one that granted the interview? Am I Peter? And yes, I know their elder brother was part of their success story from the beginning. If you want to call anybody a liar, it shouldn't be me. |
Neddstark:I'm talking based on the things he said during the interviews he granted back then. |
Realtord43:The brothers never supported his marriage to Lola and according to him, they kept disrespecting his wife. He decided if the group must continue, the disrespect to his wife must stop or else, they should forget about a psquare. Moreover, he wanted the elder brother to hands off the management of the group considering the issues they were always having. His fight wasn't with his twin brother but the elder brother but the twin decided to pitch tent with the elder brother and he decided if that was the case, they should go their separate ways. Take note that most of the endorsement they were having and most of the gigs they were playing when they came to Lagos, was made possible by the wife. According to him, the first AC car he ever drove was the wife's own. She gave them her car to be using when they were still struggling to get their feet back in the days. All I see in him is a loyal dude who remembers how much contribution the lady made in his life when things were not yet working, and has decided to repay the loyalty by sticking with her. |
Realtord43:At the expense of his family? Or you are not aware of what has been causing issues for them? |
I don't think he can't afford it. I just think he has realized that there would be no way of justifying giving such an amount of money to someone with that kind of character considering how badly she has behaved. Besides, his wife won't allow such useless spending and as such, the best thing is to withdraw his promise. If he goes ahead to redeem it, he's likely to lose a lot of fans in the process and that won't do his career any good. At the end, you'd ask yourself what exactly tacha brings to his life that would make him risk it all just to defend her. I'm proud of his ability to deny that promise cos truly, tacha isn't a good market. |
Realtord43:You talk about things you don't know. Just incase you care to know, Peter is the down to earth person amongst the two of them. |
What type of irresponsible husband without self respect, goes about sleeping with his wife's niece? And even had to sleep with her without condom? You married a foolish man and what you are dealing with now, is the consequence of being with a foolish person. If he must flirt, are there no ladies outside? Why go so low to sleep with your wife's niece? |
midnighter:Thank you. |
baby124:Please read what you just typed, slowly and try to find the sense in it. If she was behaving properly, would there be a need to report her to her parents to talk to her? Or you prefer him to start hitting her? Someone has concluded traditional rites to marry a lady and you're talking about privacy and why she had to walk away to go and talk outside with her male friend. The OP actually lacks self respect cos a man who has respect for himself won't even allow a lady put him through this rubbish. |
Toks2008:Are you sure you don't want to mind your business like this so? You and I know that a certain psycho could just be watching you. ![]() |
Can this man just keep quiet and stop fooling himself? He should start by insisting all pending orders that have been disobeyed, be obeyed before talking plenty. |
The things people post on social media though... |
I just dey laugh. The dead meat barbecue seller will soon come and tell you "thank you our amiable daddy for paying for pr. We the "sane" Nigerians love you like that". ![]() |
