hi guys , its been a while now,
i am happy to join the season three of fta, thanks moderator for this wonderful forum, i also do pay visits to other related sat forums on nairaland, news, Ait and mbc 3 mauritius have acquired the free to air right of the uefa champions league from next season , the right was previously held by osmi but i guess the price is becoming too much for them, also the price of aits hd decoder is now 18 k , the must have realised that nobody would be willing to subscribe to daar sat, tv malagasy shows champions league matches on tuesdays and wednesdays, but the bad news is that the do not have a programme schedule therefore one cant tell which match the would be televising.

hi salamander , how are u long time noo see , yes hitv do show the same number of matches as Gtv as it also has 80% right to the premiership. but its quite unfortunate that such a thing would happen to gtv,and i wonder what would happen to all those subscribers  ,  however i like your idea and i am interested

hello guys,
its been a while now,i have not been able to make any recent posts for some reasons ,(internet connection), however i m still happy to be back, i ve gone through most of the post and have also upgraded my fta knowledge database, Honestly I d love to have nilesat channels this year What ever possible way, i d like to have a dish that would suit my area,i need Ur advice

@ olofofo. Oga Olofofo Good evening and how is your family, please i would love to have one of the starsat decoder + abracadabra card for show time channels if it is still available, altough i do not have a dish for nilesat (for now), and i was also hoping you could advice me on which dish i can go for because i do not want to make a mistake of acquiring a dish this dry season when these signals are strong only to regret having it when we are into the rainy season , cause this year nilesat is my target. thank you

merry christmas  ,
members of the fta, it has been a wonderful year on free to air, i would like to appreciate all ur efforts in making the  information available to all, i have  learnt a lot i must admit, and i hope to learn more. After seeing the pictures u posted(show sports)  twinstaye,  i have decided that my next step would be nilesat, i live in the south east where a dish of 3.5m  up is needed to track the bird , however  twinstaye i d like to know how much it costs to acquire the starsat decoder and abracadabra card, thank you
happy celebrations

ever since rdv went off for the second time i have not been able to watch the premier league, i have heared so much abt 2m national but still yet getting it in owerri is proving difficult any solution is wanted
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by chuk101(m): 7:26pm On Dec 20, 2008
hello all, hi enitan nice talking to u, and thank u for ur email, i was able to decode the foriegn language mail u sent me,actually canalsat horizon is running a promo as u metioned ,and from my investigations it  is quite cheaper and better to  have it instead of hitv  and dstv put together, u can also be a nigerian and still subscribe to canalsat, it bis legal ,but it  also goes with its short comings, the supersport 3 available shows almost those matches  available on hitv but it is not meant for nigerians so for u to have  it is either u are from benin  or other francophone countries, secondly i hope dstv would not be able to tell where one is using it.
One more thing i think pas 7/10 ku is having issues with their signals one minuite it is on the next bad signal, so if others have not been seeing it  it implies that they are not really watching it.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by chuk101(m): 7:09am On Nov 30, 2008
i think right now that we are being denied our premiership right on rdv, i guess the best option is for us to move over to that channel on that bird that broadcasts in french and arabic on w6, but the funny thing is that with my 2.4 mesh in owerri, i have not been able to locate the bird , i am on th look out for a solution,. Recently i joined some friends to install a 3.5m fibre dish in owerri, and using a fuji lnb we were able to locate nilesat, as at 12pm that day show sports channels signals were ok abt 50% and all the mbcs were received, no jsc though, but dubai sports and the rest appeared, my brother that is called american wonder, nilesat is the bomb no matter what people wld say. unfortunately such size of dish is not within my reach, so i will make do with what i have, but i still need 2m national thanks

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by chuk101(m): 1:35pm On Nov 29, 2008
hi olofofo, i think that is a great idea u have there, i cannot not explain my excitement and joy on that day that rdv reappeared ,but it was something else when it left ,if there is any way we can guide our information jealously especially on English premier league i am 100% with you, it is quite painful to have something and loose it hope to hear from u.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by chuk101(m): 1:06pm On Nov 29, 2008
Guys, i think going for canal plus service i s no cheaper than dstv, i have made the enquiry once and i discovered that it is better to have dstv than canal horizon, firstly u will have to make a 6 months up front payment and just like what multi choice does, u need to make additional payment for u to have access to their ss3, in th end u would be paying closee to 60000or above every 6 months
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by chuk101(m): 12:52am On Nov 23, 2008
Hi all, thanks olofofo, i was able to watch todays or yesterdays premier  league, i did as you told me and voila, rdv appeared, i am so happy it is back, thank you very much, also thanks to oga badaru, he is quite a genius on this,to all those in owerri, u can recieve rdv wth abt 80cm dish
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by chuk101(m): 1:27am On Nov 21, 2008
Thanks olofofo for your info on rdv , actually, i tried to locate that bird this night with no succes, i live in owerri , could you kindly tell me the size of dish i could use, and where and how i will positon it , thank you
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by chuk101(m): 11:55am On Oct 16, 2008
Dear nairalanders, i have been able to receive most of the birds  with my 2.4m mesh, but to  my greatest suprise eutelsat w6 is no where to be located, could u advise me on what to do, i would  like to catch that bird, i am trying to locate the bird but it is proving stubborn, and premeirship is around the corner
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by chuk101(m): 2:50am On Oct 15, 2008
Hello everybody,
thank you moderator for the part 2 of this trade, its been a wonderful trade and beleive it or not its likely going to be a part 3. however i am now a proud owner of a 2.4 mesh, i wanted to go for 3 m pan , but for some reasons , i had to settle for this. i live in the south eastern part , owerri precisley, and i am already enjoying most of the channels, by the end of today it will be fully motorised, thank you guys for  all ur posts, they have been quite useful in various aspects, i would like to know if sports max jamaica is still open , if it is  please let me know
Big thanks to all
TV/Movies / Eutelsat W6 by chuk101(m): 8:06pm On Oct 07, 2008
hi olofofo, Eutelsat w6 would be first on my list of birds to track as soon as my 2.5 mesh is up and doing, i think it would be one of the equivalents to nilesat for us here in the east, however thanks for ur assistance over the phone, i would also be on the look out for premiership on 2m national and champions league on aflam 's sister channels, pls i d like to learn how to use keys to open an encrypted channel like aflam tv
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by chuk101(m): 12:32pm On Oct 06, 2008
Hi guys, hello to badaru and olofofo thank you for your assitance on the phone line, i am chuk by name the guy who usually calls u from owerri imo state. i recently procured a 2.4 m dish mesh, at the price of 22k , i do not know if i have been cheated, however it would be arriving owerri by wednesday, i plan to keep it on the east motorised , since i am able to watch the mbcs free once in a while in owerri through ctl cable. i think the sabcs offers good services as much as those on nilesat, and with my ku band dishes i would be able to watch the carling cup, seria A and la liga, i would also use 2M national for additional premier ligue' for those who are not able to watch mbc3 at night, u have to improve the signal strenght by changing the type of lnb u are using cause i watch mbc 2 and 3 in the night with signal quality as much as 58 and 60 , i have to go now , see u guys later
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by chuk101(m): 3:32pm On Oct 01, 2008
hi arsenal 1, Please in which part of owerri are u, could u tell me  some  of the  channels  u wre able to receive with your 1.8 m dish, because i am considering going for either 1.8 or 2.4m
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by chuk101(m): 3:11pm On Oct 01, 2008
Hello nairaland users, i am in owerri and i have really learnt a lot about ku and c band and could easily tell their differences from this forum, although i do not have a dish as big as 1.8, i hope to get one and make my own contributions as well. For those in owerri , imo state, ctl digital is free and u can watch the following aljazeera sprts +1& +3, mbc 1,2,3, mtv base cnn ,,tbn ,ait, etc, i have observed them a little and it seems that they are having a little problem with their scrambling system, however they tend to scramble the channels when there are important matches but as am writing now most of the channels are free except the trend channels, enjoy these while they last
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Official Thread of Free-To-Air Satellite TV (Part 1) by chuk101(m): 8:41am On Jun 26, 2008
Hi Guys,
Free to air tv is sure a good thing, honestly i have learnt lot from this thread, and i think it is a good thing to share ones experiences, i use about 4 dishes pointed at various directions, if you are on Eutelsat w3a u would be able to watch the Euro 2008 matches on the ff channels RTS1, TV MALAGASY, MBC3 and if you are on Nss7 u would only see it on STV1 or STV2, However, you will not be able to watch all the matches because Afnex a company who distributes the rights to sub - saharan African was able to acquire rights for only 8 matches, 4 preliminaries, 2 quarter finals , 1 semi final and the final match. Also from 2009 hitv will start the broadcast of the uefa champions league matches , and i think that would be good bye to dstv . they also have rights to the carling cup matches. There is also a way to watch some of these interesting competitions free, but you would be limited to a few of them, Install as much as 4 ku band dishes and point them to where u can get Eutelsat w3a, Nss 7 ,intelsat 7/10 and eutelsat w4.
later guys
