Car TalkFirst Flying Car Is Finally Here. Can Take Off Vertically In Traffic Jam. by chuqudy(op): 11:04am On May 23, 2013
Designer and maker of the first flying cars, Terrafugia has announced that its transition design are set to go on sale to the public as early as 2015.

The automaker said the flying car is in part a sedan and partly a private jet with two seats, four wheels and wings that fold up so it can be driven like a car. The car will be on sale in less than two years.

The Massachusetts-based firm has also unveiled plans for a TF-X model that will be small enough to fit in a garage, and won’t need a runway to take off.

Last year, the Transition successfully flew at 1,400 feet for eight minutes.

Commercial jets fly at 35,000 feet.

However, it will not be cheap, as the Transition will cost £190,000 ($300,000), N46,686,800 in value.

Terrafugia said owners must have pilot’s licenses, and will need to pass a test plus complete 20 hours of flying time to be able to fly the car.

Despite the advances in technology the Transition demonstrates, critics have said that it is still not the vision of flying cars seen in many sci-fi films.

To answer these critics, Terrafugia has now also released designs for a TF-X Model of its Transition range.

Whereas the Transition requires a runway, the TF-X can take off from a vertical position because of motorised rotors on the wings.

These rotors will work in a similar way to helicopter rotors.

Being able to take off from standstill means owners will be able to go from the road to the air straight from their driveways, car parks and even when stuck in traffic.

Although you will still need at least 100 feet in diameter in order to open the wings.

According to Terrafugia, the vehicle will carry four people ‘in car-like comfort’.

It is expected to be able to fly, nonstop, for 500 miles.

The TF-X model has not been tested yet, and prices haven’t been announced.

Terrafugia hopes to have working models of the TF-X available for sale within eight to 12 years.

Like with the Transition, you will need 20 hours of flying and a pilot’s licence to drive it, though.

The flying car has always had a special place in the American imagination.

Inventors have been trying to make them since the 1930s, according to Robert Mann, an airline industry analyst who owns R.W. Mann & Co. in Port Washington, New York.

But Mann thinks Terrafugia has come closer than anyone to making the flying cars a reality.

The government has already granted the company’s request to use special tires and glass that are lighter than normal automotive ones, to make it easier for the vehicle to fly.The government has also temporarily exempted the Transition from the requirement to equip vehicles with electronic stability control, which would add about six pounds to the vehicle.

Mann said Terrafugia was helped by the Federal Aviation Administration’s decision five years ago to create a separate set of standards for light sport aircraft. The standards govern the size and speed of the plane and licensing requirements for pilots, which are less restrictive than requirements for pilots of larger planes.

Mann questions the size of the market for the Transition. The general aviation market has been in decline for two decades, he said, largely because of fuel costs and the high cost of liability for manufacturers. Also, fewer people are learning how to fly.

“This is not going to be an inexpensive aircraft to produce or market,’ he said.

“It has some uniqueness, and will get some sales, but the question is, could it ever be a profitable enterprise?’

Mann sees the western US as the most likely market, where people could fly instead of driving long distances.

Terrafugia has been working on flying cars since 2006, and has already pushed back the launch once. Last summer the company said it would have to delay expected 2011 deliveries due to design challenges and problems with parts suppliers.

HealthYour Right To Know: World Malaria Day - April 25, 2013 by chuqudy(op): 7:13pm On Apr 25, 2013
Today, April 25, 2013 is the World Malaria Day. It is a day set aside by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to create awareness on Malaria and to highlight the need for continued investment and sustained political commitment for malaria prevention and control.

DEFINITION
Malaria is an infection caused by a parasite and carried from person to person by mosquitoes:

•Once thought to have come from fetid marshes, hence the name mal aria, (bad air)
•In 1880, scientists discovered the real cause of malaria -a one-cell parasite called plasmodium
•Later discovered: the parasite is transmitted from person to person through the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito, which requires blood to nurture her eggs

The Anopheles Mosquito
FACTS ABOUT MALARIA

• 219 million cases of malaria are estimated to occur around the world each year
• About 40% of the world’s population, mostly those living in the poorest countries, are at risk of malaria
• Most deaths occur among children living in Africa where a child dies every minute from malaria
• In 2010, malaria caused an estimated 660 000 deaths (with an uncertainty range of 490 000 to 836 000), mostly among African children
• 68% of malaria deaths globally occur in the 10 highest-burden countries
• Together, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Nigeria account for over 40% of the estimated total of malaria deaths globally.
• Pregnant women are at high risk not only of dying from the complications of severe malaria, but also spontaneous abortion, premature delivery or stillbirth

SOCIO-ECONOMIC EFFECTS OF MALARIA

• Malaria causes an average loss of 1.3% of annual economic growth in countries with intense transmission
• Traps families and communities in a downward spiral of poverty
• Malaria causes impaired learning
• It cuts attendance at schools and workplaces

MALARIA CYCLE

• Infected Anopheles mosquito bites man and injects the parasite
• the parasite undergoes a series of life cycle changes
• plasmodia evade the immune system, infect the liver and red blood cells
• Finally develop into a form that is able to infect a mosquito again when it bites an infected person

Microscopic view of P. Falciparium
CAUSES

It is caused by parasites of the species plasmodium

There are 4 types
Plasmodium vivax
P. malariae
P. ovale
P. falciparum

p. Vivax and P. Falciparum are the most common
P. Falciparum is most common in Africa
P. Falciparum being the most deadly

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms appear about 9 to 14 days after the infectious mosquito bite (varies with different species).
• Fever
• Headache
• Vomiting
• Nausea
• Muscular pains
• Abdominal pain especially in children

PREVENTION & CONTROL

• Use of Insecticide Treated Nets (ITN) –kills mosquitoes or prevents them from biting
• Netting of doors and windows
• Indoor residual spraying (the most effective means of rapidly reducing mosquito density. Its full potential is obtained when at least 80 % of premises with malaria vectors are sprayed )
• Effective anti-malarial drugs
• Intermittent preventive treatment – Doses of anti malarial medication given to women during pregnancies
• Wearing of long sleeve shirts and trousers when outside in the evenings
Research on-going in the production of malaria vaccine

CAUTION

• Inappropriate use of antimalarial drugs led to widespread resistance in the malaria parasite to drugs such as chloroquine, leading to rising rates of sickness and death

HOPE

• The use of artemisinin-based combination therapies – has brought new hope in the fight against malaria.

And I think people are confusing issues... this is not about the pressure women put on each other. This article is simply telling an average man that we are no as eager to become his wife as he believes. So its time you really got over yourselves.

What women do to each each other should not even be discussed here.

The fact is that women do not gain anything from marriage... IT DOES NOT BENEFIT US AT ALL. More and more women are starting to realise that and it scared the crap out of the male-species.
It is simple. If any man seeks your hand in marriage. Say NO.
]SERIOUSLY? WHY? angry

Why on earth do you people think that women will keel over and die if they don't get married?
Why do you think women are just dying to get married or get you hooked?

Day after day on Nairaland I see posts by men that talk about how some female celebrity is approaching her 30's and is not married or how some other ladies will never get married because of one reason or another as if these women told you that their lives cannot continue without marriage.

Why on earth do you people think Nigerian women are desperate to get married to you?
See eh, the reason why majority of women seek marriage is because of societal pressure from people that cannot mind their business and because they want to have kids that will not be called bastards so you better understand that fact.

Marriage hardly benefits women (except the very few lucky ones that married considerate men) so why do you think they are dying for it?
Husbands come home from work and expect a hot/good meal which the wife is supposed to have prepared; it is hardly ever the other way round and it is very rare for a woman to come home and meet that her husband has prepared something for her to eat yet this is something men enjoy all the time.
Men just stay by the side and watch while their wives whine in pregnancy pains and face the pains of being pregnant for months; imagine the struggles of getting the kids ready for school while fighting early morning sickness.

She works to assist you and must still submit to your whims because society expects her to, and you still expect sexxual gratification when you come home not considering that she is probably exhausted.
Also, after marriage the husband clearly enjoys his life and freedom more than the woman. he can close from work and 'hang out with the boys' instead of going home and nobody queries him, but his wife can never try such, she goes home straight to take care of children, does the cooking and cleaning and what not. She even has to take a break from work sometimes to pick the kids from school and drop them at home then go back to work before finally returning home at the end of the day to carry house work solely on her head because the majority of Nigerian men are lazy asses that think that helping their wives at home is an abomination.

After all the stress of doing housework on her own and taking care of children on her own she starts to look old and tired and her husband complains that she is now too old and unattractive and without thinking twice, he begins to look outside at younger women because his wife is no longer attractive to him.
The worst part is that the children the women is taking care of, the children that she got so stressed for and losses her beauty after birthing are bearing the man's name. The children bear his name and not hers and yet the men will have the effrontery to say that their wife is no longer attractive after bearing these kids so they want to chase other women.

What do women even gain from marriages for heavens sake?
People expects them give up your identity and start bearing their husbands' name, the kids you spend your life taking care of bear his name and claim his home town when they are asked where they come from, the man is very very likely to cheat on his wife and maybe infect her with some STD or another and he will more likely than not, turn her into his slave by refusing to assist with house work while expecting her to contribute financially to the upkeep of the house.
In fact, if not that religions make childbearing outside marriage a sin and society(mostly men) treat unmarried girls like outcasts, I'm sure many women will not get married, who in their right senses will want to marry an overbearing, unhelpful, slave driving no-good lazy ass; which majority of men are, when they can just have their kids in peace and not have to worry about taking care of him?

All of you can relax, eh kwa?
Women are not in any hurry to become your slaves.
Enough of the marriage this and marriage talk you keep disturbing our ears with.

Lastly, I know that not all married men think that women are on earth to be their slaves, I know that some kind and thoughtful men still exist there so this message does not apply to them.
Kudos to the 2% of Nigerian men that still have respect for women and consider their feelings after marriage.
I salute you.
A disappointed ashawo talk.

before we (Nigerians) understood what homosexuality was about, this action would not have been mis-connoted. I tell U, a time will come when U might be thot to be gay because u hug a fellow guy.

i hear some countries have already defined marriage as a union between two people in love.
Time would also come in Nigeria when a leader and his deputy would be called gay because they are both men.

What do u know about the bible? Who compiled the bible? The problem with you guys is that you see no need of studying the history of Christianity from the first century till today. Segeggs: i respect my mother but i dont equate her with jesus like you do mary, making beads like buddhists u call rosary, praying to her statue and calling her name more than you call christ's.
Saying that Catholics equate Mary with Jesus is a false accusation and is the same thing as failing the 4th commandment(do not bear false witness against your fellow human being). This false accusation is what will put many non Catholics into trouble one day. Moreover, the number of times you pray to someone or seeks someone's assistance does not determine how great that person is. You might seek your pastors assistance in prayer than you have personally prayed to God. That does not mean that you see your pastor as a greater person than God. Christians generally pray to Jesus Christ and call His name than His father. Muslims and some "Christians" like Jehovah "Witnesses" criticize this and see the act of praying to Jesus as idolatry. What can you tell such people? Don't tell me that they are non believers in order to run away from my question.

frosbel: Jesus Christ did not kiss the feet of his disciples , he washed their feet.

Jesus Christ washed the feet of repentant believers , he did not wash the feet of unrepentant criminals

Jesus Christ washed the feet in a room with his disciples, not out in the open

Jesus Christ had a real humility that flowed from him, he did not need to do anything for show , especially for applause from the authorities or media.
If Jesus was the one in this modern time that did what the Pope did , it would also be in the media. Do I need to tell you that during the time of Jesus, the media was not as it was today. They have their own way of recording events. That was why you saw it in the bible that Jesus washed the feet of His disciples including that of Judas(who betrayed Him and Peter who denied Him). Peter repented later and was forgiven while Judas regretted what he did and hanged himself(I cant say that Judas went to hell). You corrected me that Jesus washed feet and not kissing feet. That is in line with what the original poster posted "Pope Francis Washes Prisoners' Feet On Maundy Thursday". According to the poster, the Pope did it in a prison(detention center) and not in your village square. I have known your type of person. You are the type that likes blind argument. I swear that I will never reply your posts again. I beg your forgiveness for today.

frosbel: So the Pope is now Christ ? SMH.

Besides Jesus did it in a small room with only his disciples present , and to show them that if he their master could do it , they should do it to each other.

False religion always does things for show , while true religion does things in secret and out of true humility.
You are contradicting yourself. Let me explain it to you simply. Jesus kissed the feet of His disciples so that they may learn to be humble and to do it to others just as you sayed. Now, the Pope has learnt this humility from Christ and is doing it to others so that they may learn to be humble and to do it to others. The whole thing continues. The Pope has no private life. He is always followed by the media. Whatever the Pope does now, it would be seen in the news immediately. Moreover, the issue of washing and kissing the feet is a historic ritual done on Holy Thursdays in every Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, Coptic Church, Some Anglican Churches etc. to commemorate what Christ did. Some times I wonder how the brains of some people function. You in particular. Almost all your posts in nairaland look like what a computer literate goat posted.

But I have since left the Catholic church and no longer follow this tradition but I respect others who still do nonetheless.
I advice you to go back to Catholicism and be a born again Catholic not a hypocritical Catholic. The chance of a non Catholic going to heaven is very slim. Majority of born again non Catholics would go to heaven through Purgatory. My email is chukonet@ymail.com for the proof of this claim.

Mary (مريم Marīam in Arabic), the mother of Jesus (Isa), is considered one of the most righteous women in the Islamic tradition. She is mentioned more in the Quran[1] than in the entire New Testament and is also the only woman mentioned by name in the Quran.[2] According to the Quran, Isa was born miraculously by the will of God without a father. His mother is regarded as a chaste and virtuous woman and is said to have been a virgin. The Quran states clearly that Isa was the result of a virgin birth, but that neither Mary nor her son were divine. In the Quran, no other woman is given more attention than Mary and the Quran states that Mary was chosen above all women:
Behold! the angels said: "O Mary! Allah hath chosen thee and purified thee- chosen thee above the women of all nations.
—Quran, sura 3 (Al Imran), ayah 42[3]
The nineteenth chapter of the Quran is named after her and is, to some extent, about her life. Of the Quran's 114 suras, she is among only eight people who have a chapter named after them. Mary is specifically mentioned in the Quran, alongside Asiya, as an exemplar for all righteous women.[4] Mary plays an important role in Islamic culture and religious tradition, and verses from the Quran relating to Mary are frequently inscribed on the mihrab of various mosques, including in the Hagia Sophia.[5]
Family
The Quran refers to Mary as being from the "house of Amram", which is a reference to Amram, the father of Moses (Musa), Aaron (Harun) and Miriam, through whom Mary descended. Mary is further called the "daughter of Amram", which has again been interpreted to refer to her ancestor rather than her actual father, who is unnamed in the Quran, but to whom Christian tradition applies the name Joachim. Muslim scholars and commentators have seen the Quran's statement of Mary being a "daughter of Amram" as similar to the description of Elizabeth in the Gospel of Luke as being one of the "daughters of Aaron"; they interpret both of these phrases as referring to ancestral fathers, rather than literal fathers. Take note, however, that the Gospel of Luke only says Mary and Elizabeth are relatives. There is no phrase "the daughter of Aaron." (Only Luke 1 mentions Elizabeth.)
Mary in the Quran
Mary is mentioned frequently in the Quran, and her narrative occurs consistently from the earliest chapters, revealed in Mecca, to the latest verses, revealed in Medina.
Birth
The birth of Mary is narrated in the Quran with references to her father as well as her mother (Saint Anne). Mary's father is called Amram (Imran in Arabic) and Anne (Hannah in Arabic) in tradition and is the equivalent of Joachim in Christian tradition. Muslim literature narrates that Amram and his wife were old and childless and that, one day, the sight of a bird in a tree feeding her young aroused Anne's desire for a child. She prayed to God to fulfill her desire[6] and vowed, if her prayer was accepted, that her child would be dedicated to the service of God. She prayed for her child to remain protected from Satan (Shayṭān) and Muslim tradition records a hadith, which states that the only children born without the "touch of Satan," were Mary and Jesus.[7]
Early years
The Quran narrates that Mary grew up in the temple of the prayer, and had a special place in the temple of her own. She was placed under the care of the prophet Zechariah. The Muslim narrative makes it clear that lots were cast[8] as to who should be the guardian of Mary and the outcome was that she should be placed under Zechariah's care. As often as Zechariah entered Mary's prayer chamber, he found her provided with food[9] and he would ask her where she received it from, to which she would reply that God provides to whom He wills. Scholars have debated as to whether this refers to miraculous food that Mary received from God or whether it was normal food. Those in favor of the former view state that it had to be miraculous food, as Zechariah being a prophet, would have known that God is the provider of all sustenance and thus would not have questioned Mary, if it was normal food.

Annunciation to Mary

The virgin birth of Jesus is supremely important in Islam, as one of the most important miracles of God. The first explicit mention of an annunciation foreshadowing the birth of Jesus is in sura 19 (Maryam), ayah 20 where Mary asks Gabriel (Jibral) how she will be able to conceive, when no man has touched her. Gabriel's reply assures Mary that for God all things are easy and that Jesus's virgin birth will be a sign for mankind.[10] The birth is later referred in sura 66 (At-Tahrim), ayah 12,[11] where the Quran states that Mary remained "pure", while God allowed a life to shape itself in Mary's womb. A third mention of the annunciation is in sura 3 (Al-Imran), ayat 37–38, where Mary is also given the glad tidings that she has been chosen above all the women of creation.[12]
Commentators on the Quran remark on the last verse that Mary was as close to a perfect woman as there could be, and she was devoid of almost all failings.[13] Although Islam honors numerous women, including Khadija and Fatimah, many commentators[14] followed this verse in the absolute sense, and agreed that Mary was the greatest woman of all time. Other commentators, however, while maintaining that Mary was the "queen of the saints", interpreted this verse to mean that Mary was the greatest woman of that time and that Fatimah and Khadija were equally great.[15] According to exegesis and literature, Gabriel appeared to Mary, who was still young in age, in the form of a well-made man with a "shining face" and announced to her the birth of Jesus. After her immediate astonishment, she was reassured by the angel's answer that God has the power to do anything.[16] The details of the Mary's conception are not discussed during these angelic visits, but elsewhere the Quran states (sura 21, (Al-Anbiya), ayah 91[17] and 66:12[11]) that God breathed "His Spirit" into Mary while she was chaste.[18][19]

Virgin birth of Jesus

The Quran narrates the virgin birth of Jesus numerous times. In sura 19 (Maryam), ayat 17-21,[20] the annunciation is given, followed by the virgin birth in due course. In Islam, Jesus is called the "spirit of God" because he was through the action of the spirit, but that belief does not include the doctrine of his pre-existence, as it does in Christianity.[21] Sura:66:12[11] states that Jesus was born when the spirit of God breathed upon Mary, whose body was chaste.[22]
The Quran's narrative of the virgin birth is somewhat different from that in the New Testament. The Quran states that when the pains of childbirth came upon Mary, she held onto a nearby palm tree, at which point a voice came from "beneath the (palm-tree)" or "beneath her", which said " "Grieve not! for thy Lord hath provided a rivulet beneath thee; "And shake towards thyself the trunk of the palm-tree: It will let fall fresh ripe dates upon thee."[23] The Quran goes on to describe that Mary vowed not to speak to any man on that day,[24] as God was to make Jesus, whom Muslims believe spoke in the cradle, perform his first miracle. The Quran goes on to narrate that Mary then brought Jesus to the temple, where immediately she began to be taunted by all the men, excluding Zechariah, who believed in the virgin birth. The Israelites questioned Mary how she came to be with child whilst unmarried, to which Mary pointed to the baby Jesus. It was then that according to the Quran the infant Jesus began to speak in the cradle, and spoke of his prophecy for the first time.[25]

Mary in Muslim tradition
Mary is one of the most honored figures in Muslim history. Muslim women look upon her as an example and are known to visit both Muslim and Christian shrines. Muslim tradition, like Christian, honors her memory at Matariyyah near Cairo, and in Jerusalem. Muslims also visit the Bath of Mary in Jerusalem, where Muslim tradition recounts Mary once bathed, and this location was visited at times by women, who were seeking a cure for barrenness.[26] Some plants have also been named after Mary, such as Maryammiah, which, as tradition recounts, acquired its sweet scent when Mary wiped her forehead with its leaves. Another plant is Kaff Maryam (Anastatica), which was used by some Muslim women to help in pregnancy, and the water of this plant was given to women to drink while praying.
Islamic literature does not recount many instances from Mary's later life, and the assumption is one of the Christian events not present in any Muslim records. Nevertheless, some contemporary Muslim scholars, an example being Martin Lings, accepted the assumption as being a historical event from Mary's life.[27] One of the lesser-known events which is recorded in Muslim literature, is that of Mary visiting Rome with John and Thaddeus (Jude), the disciples (al-Hawāriyūn) of Jesus, during the reign of Nero.[28]

Arabic titles

• Qānitah: Mary is so called in sura 66:12.[11]The Arabic term implies the meaning, not only of constant submission to God, but also absorption in prayer and invocation, meanings that coincides with the image of Mary spending her childhood in the temple of prayer. In this way, Mary personifies prayer and contemplation in Islam.
• Siddiqah: She who confirms the truth or She who has faith. Mary is called Siddiqah twice in the Quran (sura 5 (Al-Ma'ida), ayat 73-75 and 66:12).[29][11] The term has also been translated, She who believes sincerely completely.
• Sājidah: She who prostrates to God in worship. The Quran states: "O Mary! Worship your Lord devoutly: prostrate yourself".[30] While in Sujud, a Muslim is to praise God and glorify Him. In this motion, which Muslims believe to be derived from Marian nature, hands, knees and the forehead touch the ground together.
• Rāki’ah: She who bows down to God in worship. The Quran states: "O Mary! Bow down in prayer with those men, who bow down." The command was repeated by angels only to Mary, according to the Muslim view. Ruku' in Muslim prayer during prayer has been derived from Mary’s practice.
• Tāhirah: She who was purified.[3]
• Mustafia: She who was chosen. The Quran states: "O Mary! God has chosen you and purified you and again he has chosen you above all women of all nations of the worlds" .[3]
• Sa’imah: She who fasts. Mary is reported to fast one-half of a year in some Muslim traditions.
Many other names of Mary can be found in various other books and religious collections. In Hadith, she has been referred to by names such as Batul, Adhraa (Ascetic Virgin), and Marhumah (Enveloped in God's Mercy).[31]
Burial place
Mary is believed to have been buried at the Tomb of the Virgin Mary in the Kidron Valley, at the foot of the Mount of Olives, in Jerusalem. The Christian church on the site has been destroyed several times but the crypt has remained intact. The site is run by the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem who share it with the Armenian Apostolic Church. A mihrab is located at the site to aid Muslims.

HealthHealth Benefits Of Lime by chuqudy(op): 10:13am On Mar 22, 2013
The health benefits of lime include weight loss, skin care, good digestion, relief from constipation, eye care, and treatment of scurvy, piles, peptic ulcer, respiratory disorders, gout, gums, urinary disorders, etc.

The first fruit that comes to our minds when it comes to medicinal uses is perhaps the good old lime. This sour citrus fruit can do what many specialist medicines cannot. Lime, bearing the scientific name Citrus Aurantifolia, is being used for ages for treatment of various ailments.

Lime is consumed throughout the world in sorbets, beverages, refreshing drinks, pickles, jams, jellies, snacks, candies, sugar boiled confectionaries and culinary and the oil extracted from its peel or skin is extensively used in soft drink concentrates, body oils, cosmetics, hair oils, tooth pastes, toilet and beauty soaps, disinfectants, mouth washes, deodorants and innumerable other products. There are many varieties of lime found all over the world, particularly in the tropical and the Mediterranean climates.

Let us have a glance over the benefits and medicinal uses of lime.

Scurvy: Lime is so famous as a cure for scurvy, the disease which is caused due to deficiency of vitamin-C and characterized by frequent infections with cough and cold; cracked lips and lip corners; ulcers in tongue and mouth; spongy, swollen and bleeding gums etc. that now a days even a child can tell you that. Since its cause is deficiency of vitamin-C, its remedy is none other than vitamin-C, and lime is blessed with this vitamin. In olden days, soldiers and sailors were given lime to keep safe from scurvy, which was a dreaded disease then. Even now, it is distributed among the workers working in polluting environments like those working in furnaces, painting shops, heat treatments, cement factories, mines etc. to protect them from scurvy.

Skin Care: Lime juice and its oil are very beneficial for skin when consumed orally or applied externally. It rejuvenates the skin, keeps it shining, protects it from infections and reduces body odor due to presence of a large amount of vitamin-C and Flavonoids, both of which are class-1 anti oxidants, anti biotic and disinfectants. When applied externally on skin, its acids scrub out the dead cells, cures dandruff, rashes, bruises etc. and gives you a refreshing bath if its juice or oil is mixed into your bathing water.

Digestion: Lime has an irresistible scent which waters the mouth and thus aid primary digestion (the digestive saliva floods your mouth even before you taste it). Then the acids in it do the rest. While they break down of the macro molecules of the food, the Flavonoids, the compounds found in the fragrant oils extracted from lime, stimulate the digestive system and increase secretion of digestive juices, bile and acids and also stimulate the peristaltic motion. This is the reason behind having lemon pickle with lunch and dinner is an age old practice in India and some of its neighboring countries.

Constipation: Primarily, the ample of acids present in lime helps clear the excretory system by washing and cleaning off the tracts, just like some acids are used to clean floor and toilets. Then the roughage in it is also helpful in easing constipation. But it is mainly due to high acids. An overdose of lime juice with salt also acts as an excellent purgative without any side effects, thereby giving relief in constipation.

Peptic Ulcer: In addition to vitamin-C, lime contains special compounds called Flavonoids (Limonoids such as Limonin Glucoside) which have anti oxidant, anti carcinogenic, anti biotic and detoxifying properties which help healing of peptic and oral ulcers.

Respiratory Disorders: The oil, containing Flavonoids and certain oils, extracted from lime is extensively used in anti congestive medicines such as balms, vaporizers, inhalers etc. due to presence of Kaempferol. Just scratching the peel of a lime and inhaling it gives immediate relief in congestion and nausea.

Eye Care: Vitamin-C again! Its anti oxidant properties protect eyes from aging and macular degeneration. Flavonoids help protect them from infections.

Gout: There are two main causes of Gout. While the first reason is accumulation of free radicals in the body; the second is accumulation of toxins, primarily uric acid. Now, limes can help you with both of these. It is a reservoir of anti oxidants & detoxifiers (vitamin-C & Flavonoids) which free radicals as well as detoxify the body.

Gums: The root causes of gum problems are deficiency of vitamin-C (Scurvy, which gives bleeding and spongy gums) and microbial growth. Sometimes, the ulcers and wounds from bones, hard objects etc. are also the causes. In all of these, limes can help you. Its vitamin-C cures scurvy, Flavonoids inhibit microbial growth and potassium and Flavonoids help heal ulcers and wounds.

Piles: Since lime helps heal up ulcers and wounds in the digestive system and excretory system and gives relief from constipation too, it eradicates all the root causes of piles.

Weight Loss: A glass of warm water with a full-lime juice in it is an excellent weight reducer as well as a brilliant refresher and anti oxidant drink. The citric acid present in lime is an excellent fat burner. Just have two glasses a day and see the remarkable result within a week.

Urinary Disorders: The high potassium content of limes is very effective in removal of the toxic substances and the precipitates deposited in kidneys, urinary bladder and its disinfectant properties help cure infections in the urinary system. It also stops prostrate growth (very common in males above 40) and clears blockage of urine due to deposition of calcium in the urinary tract.

Other Benefits: It is a good appetizer and digestive. It helps cure arthritis, rheumatism, prostrate and colon cancer, cholera, arteriosclerosis, diabetes, fatigue, heart diseases and even very high fever (in contrary to popular belief). The best part of it is that it has no side effects.

Christianity EtcRe: Important Lesson To Christians About The Use Of Images In Worship by chuqudy(m): 3:24pm On Nov 11, 2012
TroGunn: There is no basis in the Bible to make the images of cross, Jesus, Mary or saints, whatever you do with such images. What images Moses and others made in the temple was done after God expressly told them to do so and such does not apply. Christians are to worship God in spirit and truth - objects are not needed. We live by faith, not by sight - 2Cor5:7. Images are completely unnecessary in a Christian's religious life. Neither Christ nor his apostles used images to remind themselves to do the right thing.
It might be unnecessary to you but it is necessary to others. You are reasoning in a different direction. The early Christians who started it has a reason for that. God did not start talking to people today. St. Paul's handkerchief drove demons away. St. Peters shadow cured the sick. God works in mysterious ways. St. Peter's shadow was an image. People ran to it so that his shadow could cast on them. So, shut up. By the way, why do you make pictures of yourself since "God" told you not to make images.

afroxyz: Then why do you guys pray to Mary?
We ask Mary to pray to Jesus for us just like she did for the apostles in the marriage at Cana. We ask Mary to pray for us just like you ask your mortal pastor to pray for you. We believe in the communion with the saints. May be your problem is that you do not believe that you can communicate with Angels and Saints of God. If Mary Can't hear our communication to her, then Jesus would see our prayers as prayers made with humility(since we sometimes see ourselves not worthy to talk to Him directly). Remember, God edits all our prayers. Since a lot of miracles have been recorded and is still happening through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, that proves that God answers our prayers.

forkinsonlolo: we dont suppose to have image in the house of the Lord, it is God house for God sake
God commanded Solomon to make statues of two winged creatures in the Temple of Jerusalem. One at the left hand side of the Ark of the covenant and the other at the right hand side. In the book of Hebrews, St. Paul explained that the two statues represent the presence of God. Actually, I have nothing against those who see pictures and statues of Jesus, Angels and Saints as wrong thing. Such people are speaking from their own understanding and their low level of knowledge of the bible and history. God edits every one's prayers as well as conscience. Someone who is worshiping somebody or something as God other than God knows that he is doing wrong thing. I as a catholic respect images and statues that represent glorious beings. But the Church teaches no one to worship the images. However, there are agents of satan who go about preaching that Roman Catholics and orthodox Catholics worship images. They say this and other things to make their own fake churches boom. The use of image in worship has been there over 1000 years before Protestantism. And God has been with the early Christians. Is it now that the images of Angels and Saints of God would begin to annoy God? Answer me you all false and end time preachers.
PoliticsRe: Who Are The Top 5 Performing Governors In Nigeria? by chuqudy(m): 8:45pm On Jul 21, 2012
hakeem4shi: Please, whenever we make analysis on issues,we need to verify facts and figures b4 we conclude. Thank u for saying we should rate accordingly,in my own opinion, the list does not tally wit d fact on ground.
1. I served in Imo state,Owerri to be precise, and stayed near the govt house. It Is a known fact dat Rochas is just doing eye service all because of his political ambition. We should stop measuring achievement wit what u see on TV or heard on radio or read on pages of newspaper, because it is all paid for. My point is,Rochas concentrate on the capital city to the detriment of other towns in d state. All the said road contract he awarded was to quarks, who rochas told to start work on the roads without mobilization fees, and wen they got to some point where their fund cannot handle the project anymore, the project is abandoned. It is in IMO state I first saw that asphalt will be laid first, before digging drainage to complement it,that is where drainage will be available though. And wat about how he is redesigning the state capital with street gates across the state, where such funds can be put on meaningful projects, demolition of structures only for you to see fences being mount on the main road-Ì wonder wat its use will be. As for the minimum wage, the workers are @ loggers head wit him on that, its just 'on paper' dat they are the highest paid, only the workers can tell u wat the facts are. On the schorlarship, its for certain set of student, with GPA. As a basis. He even lied on TV dat he's paying Corp members 20-25k monthly, whereas teachers in public schools get nothing, except for those in the ministry with 5k monthly. We have to result to take up the issue with our state coordinator, and we were about protesting wen we were told to calm down, dat they will sort it out. The job he created is wat I don't know,he claimed to create community govt in the state, where 1/2 of local govt staff will be redeployed to their native community to serve as staff in the community ,the state workers rejects, and went on strike several times b4 they reached agreement to maintain status quo wen he was dragged to court. That informed his decision not to allow the council chairmen dat was reinstated start work wit his tactics,he knows they won't allow his dumb method of developing the community. I wonder why he cannot employ people to go and wrk in the community newly. And facts is he is spending a lot on the government house, demolished 1/2 of the structures and put up nu ones, where pple av no roads to take to the villages. He's working in some areas though ,at least a model primary school is under construction where almost six schools will be put in one location . And the structure is commendable.these are some of the points for Okorocha. He's building city gate in orlu and okigwe part of the state though, and he almost relocates the state university to his home town b4 he was stopped and promised to build new school in the town.
2. As for Akbabio,I was in Uyo towards the end of my service in June, and he really did well to the state capital in terms of road, and environment renewal ,and his home town, ikot ekpene-if I get it right, cos I have to ask who is the political big wig from that town who would av necessitated such development, and I was told the governor is from the town. Considering the huge amount he received monthly, that state deserves more in my own opinion.
3. As for Fashola,he's the main Governor in Nigeria,he generates the money he spent, and tell me where he has not touched in his 5 years reign as governor,he is dynamic and intelligent.the state does not receive oil money as other four states in review is doing.
4. Oshiomole is trying,I've passed thru the state on mai way to onitsha, and I must say he tried on road construction and school building, dats wat I can say I av seen in edo.
5. I don't know why mimiko has to make this list, cos, all he's doing is media hype, and all u hear is iroko here, iroko there wit dat blind colour he uses as trademark. That does not mean he didn't do anything o. =D thank you for taking time to read this, but there is no comparison with Fashola.
Rochas is the best ever Governor in Nigeria. I am from Imo State and you are just an aboki or Yoruba that was opportuned to serve in Imo. May be you were paid by pdp.
