Celebrities / Re: Lauryn Hill Jailed For Tax Evasion! by churific(m): 12:19pm On May 07, 2013
coogar: a whole lauryn hill in prison.....
this judge must be crazy.....and to think all those big music corporations couldn't come to her rescue is cringe-worthy. shame on you tommy motolla, shame on you russell simmons!

Come to her rescue? How? Here, once you are convicted of tax evasion, there's no rescue for you. You'll serve your sentence and then you'll still pay those taxes plus penalties. That's why the system works very well. You can evade for years using loopholes but when IRS catches you, you'll definitely pay!

obadiah777: WHY THEY ONLY JAIL BLACK PEOPLE FOR NON VIOLENT CRIME ? FIRST WESLEY NOW LAURYN AND NOW THEY GOT 2 MILLION DOLLARS ON ASSATA SAKUR ? THESE WHITE FOLKS NEED TO BE DEALT WITH. IT SHALL COME

That's not entirely true. You cannot evade taxes here white or black. There are loop holes and such you can take but they'll get you.

It's usually the black ones that think they're above the law once they start making money. But there's a lot of white ones on the list of the apprehended.

Are you sure you are talking about the same merciful God? God might allow some things to happen but he will never "bring some disease" on anyone just to get their attention.

If he is all powerful, why does need to do that? That is just evil and our God knows no evil! Even from a logical standpoint, you do not bring someone you love to your kingdom by slapping them with a near death and financial crippling disease. I'm sorry but that just does not sound like the God I serve...especially the one in the New Testament.

Why are people complaining on a picture thread?

If you want to prove the guy wrong, all you have to do is post your own fake picture (since he is yet to prove that this is indeed his girlfriend upon my request.)

Until we see any real proofs, unfortunately, his claim will stand!
Politics / Re: Nigerian Anthem Sang Before South-Africa's Anthem in Capetown by churific(m): 11:36am On May 07, 2013
Irrelevant.

How exactly do some of these threads make it to the front page? Is there some sort of criteria because I've seen some excellent posts left behind while stupendous ones constantly grace front page?

"MUST READ"

Good piece but quite an exaggeration don't you think? These are all basics that only require common sense. Unfortunately, there are still those in their 30's and 40's still finding common sense very uncommon!

"I am taking this rebuttal path due to the hurt that story has caused my friends and family members."

1. Such nonsense. It might come to a surprise to some, but a lot of Taxi drivers in the United States make more than professional football players. Try to Google how much a taxi Medallion cost in New York City and it will blow your mind.

2. If you are still a professional football player, please state the team you play for with a few pictures and news articles and you squash all doubt.

3. Leave the guy alone! We love to bother people as if it's our God given right...The guy is 30 years old...There's absolutely nothing wrong with a 30 year old retired football player driving a taxi!

It's okay to be respectful!

You need to work on your titles. At least let there be a correlation between the title and the content!

You just made such a quality story loose value for me.

Yes she's beautiful. I give you that. But how do I know she's you girlfriend? How about you take a picture you and her while holding today's newspaper (with the date showing) so we know it's true.

And she better not be your sister either! tongue

So what exactly is wrong with her?

Before you criticize and lyrically destroy others' girlfriends, feel free to post a picture of yours next to her so we can use your criteria for comparison.

Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes and she's beautiful despite my personal opinions (which should probably be kept to myself especially when negative.)

It's okay to be respectful!

Yes these pictures are nice and DRC has some really presentable places...however, they are still overshadowed by certain realities as with most African countries including our beloved Nigeria.

We are always quick to post about the "Africa 'they' don't want you to see." Instead of just showing 'them' the Africa 'we' want them to see, 'we' should strive to make all of Africa worth looking at!

All these nonsense comments about not understanding how to run a night club.

You don't need to understand a business to own one.

You simply hire someone who understands the business and that's that. There's definitely another reason why he shut it down. Since we like to speculate, I'll add a few speculations:

1. He might be going broke himself and can't afford to infuse money or higher someone
2. He's not the sole or majority owner and got overruled
3. He's simply lost interest
4.
5.
6.
7.

We can go on and on forever...the fact still remains that you do not need to understand how to run a nightclub to own one!

I have listened.

Sorry but I didn't hear anything too special or groundbreaking. The same rap format as most African rappers who try to imitate those from the west with borrowed lines from here and there(with a few exception.) Which "celebrated rappers" is this guy better than again?

Politics / Political Systems Defined (simplified) by churific(m): 12:52pm On May 03, 2013
Feudalism: You have two cows. Your lord takes some of the milk.

Pure Democracy: You have two cows. Your neighbors decide who gets your milk.

Representative Democracy: You have two cows. Your neighbors pick someone to decide who gets your milk.

Pure Communism: You have two cows. Your neighbors help take care of them, and you all share the milk.

Pure Socialism: You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everybody else’s cows. You have to take care of all the cows. The government gives you as much milk as you need.

Bureaucratic Socialism: You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everybody else’s cows. They are cared for by ex-chicken farmers. You have to take care of the chickens the government took from the chicken farmers. The government gives you as much milk as the regulations say you should need.

Fascism: You have two cows. The government takes both, hires you to care for them, and sells you the milk.

Dictatorship: You have two cows. The government takes both and drafts you.

Bureaucracy: You have two cows. At first, the government regulates what you can feed them and when you can milk them. Then it pays you not to milk them. Then it takes both, shoots one, milks the other and pours the milk down the drain. Then it requires you to fill out forms accounting for the missing cows.

Pure Anarchy: You have 2 cows. Either you sell the milk at a fair price, or your neighbors try to take the cows and kill you

Anarcho-Capitalism: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.

Surrealism: You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.

Nigeria, as well as a lot of countries around the world, still operates under a patriarch system...which is slowly evolving. Until that glass ceiling for women is shattered, the answer will always be YES.

Religion / Re: The Axiom Of Rationality: All Men Are Rational (greedy) by churific(m): 9:47pm On May 02, 2013
Exactly my point. I never said it was a bad thing.

I think that's why they chose to equate rationality with greed...as a way to say that greed is not necessarily a bad thing because it is the essence of life and could mean life and death in some cases.

However, that's natural greed, or rationality...the greed I warn against is the unnatural greed or extreme selfishness.

If you study economics...micro economics, then you know that rationality and greed are both the same thing. But it all depends on how you personally define "rationality."
Religion / The Axiom Of Rationality: All Men Are Rational (greedy) by churific(m): 1:46pm On May 02, 2013
God created us humans to specialize in complaining. No matter how much we have or get, we are just never contempt. We’re always blinded by rationality (greed) and self engulfment until we’re faced with a difficult situation then we choose to recognize the existence of a “supreme” being.

Check out the image and ask YOUR God to open your eyes constantly and continuously!

Politics / Re: Buhari Ready To Step-Down For Better Candidate by churific(m): 1:34pm On May 02, 2013
Despite how politically excellent or poor he is, Muhammadu Buhari is 70 years old. He is the equivalent of America's John McCain.

How can we continue to allow these old men with old ideas that have been running our country since our independence to remain and contest for power. It's time for the younger generation to start running the country with newer ideas. The problem of course is that these old ones have weaved a web of connections and manipulations that somehow keep them relevant until their deaths.
