maki:Please get off of the kai kai. It is too strong for you. The Majority of Rivers State is Igbo. if it is a lie then which ethnic group in Rivers State is more than the Igbos? |
maki:Oh shut up fool. The majority of Rivers State is Igbo. After military rule, how many non-Igbos have been governor of Rivers State? Please think before you speak. |
Actually, due to the mass amount of Igbos there due to slavery, alot of or most of the Bonny Indigenes are Igbo. They were just accultured into Ijo. With that being said, there is nothing wrong with them speaking Igbo because it is the language for most of them whether now have Ijo names or not. If the recent tests that supposedly can trace one's origination to a particular tribe is actually accurate, i think a lot of things would be settle and a lot of people there would be shocked of what they really are. ![]() |
shimol:She along with other Igbos from Delta should make sure Abians are thrown out of Delta as well. Also, it would be good for her to go to surrounding Igbo states for employment in the sector she was in. Very soon spots will become available because Abians will soon be kicked out. The other govs have no choice. I also suggest she along with other Igbo that were kicked out of office get together and have one major protest in all Igoid states. Either they return the jobs or have a mass exodus of Abians out of our states. Imagine the fool wants to bring another Abondoned Property to our people. Someone who fails to practice compromise, especially when he is on the losing end, should be fed his own medicine and with Ose ekpo ekpo. |

Enugu not bankrupt: An open letter to Senator Adetumbi On November 1, 2011 · In Viewpoint RECENTLY, Senator Olubunmi Adetunmbi, ACN, Ekiti North, made a baseless statement concerning Enugu State in the Senate. He claimed that Enugu State is in a financially critical state and that she is facing bankruptcy. He did not state the basis of his assertion and offered no extraneous proof. He did not explain whatever informed the, but simply tossed out such a weighty statement. The senator is wrong and we believe that a retraction and an apology from him would be in order. Does the senator know that since May 2007, Enugu State has paid salaries on time, every month, without fail? Does he know that Enugu State, without borrowing, has paid October, 2011 salaries even when the federal allocation for the month of October 2011 has not been shared, even before the ‘healthy states?’ Does he know that this is not the first time such has happened and that Enugu State does in fact pay monthly salaries, on time, every month, whether monthly allocations have been shared for the month or not? Does the senator know that Enugu State is not owing a single contractor despite the massive infrastructural projects that Governor Sullivan Chime has embarked upon since 2007? Does he know that Enugu State was the first state to pay the minimum wage in the South East, and was perhaps one of the first two or three in the whole country to first pay the minimum wage? Minimum wage arrears Does he know that Enugu State was buoyant enough not only to pay the minimum wage but to also to clear the minimum wage arrears beginning April, 2011? Does the senator know that unlike some other states, Enugu State has not rushed to the capital market to raise long-term bonds to finance the numerous infrastructural developmental projects that Governor Chime has embarked upon since 2007. The senator and I know that bonds are debt, and that the proceeds from such bonds, if misused, could spell future financial doom for the states in question. Thus states such as Lagos (N15bn) in 2002, Lagos (series 1-N50bn), Lagos (series II-N57.5bn), Imo (N18.5bn), Kwara (N17bn), Niger (N6bn), Bayelsa (N50bn), Kaduna (N8.5bn), Ebonyi (N16.5bn), Ogun (N50bn), Delta (N5bn) in 2007), Kebbi (N3.5bn) in 2006, and Yobe (N2.5bn) in 2002 are in a comparatively more precarious situation than Enugu State. Again, the senator should know that Enugu State did not rush to the capital markets to raise bonds/ borrow and perhaps mortgage her financial future. Instead Governor Chime has used a sound and uncanny fiscal sense to manage the little allocation/IGR that Enugu State gets every month. Does it not amaze the senator how Governor Chime has achieved so muchwith so little? Does he know that since May 2007, Enugu State has religiously paid up her counterpart contributions for almost all of her syndicated-funding projects? Does he know that Enugu State has invested heavily and prudently in key sectors of her economy? Does he know that with her sound investments in agriculture and food production that Enugu State is geared to achieve self-sufficiency in food production by 2013 (well short of her earlier goal of 2015)? Does he know that Enugu State’s wise investments in physical infrastructure especially in the metropolis is now paying off with increasing investor interest in the state, and a population boom through migration from other states to Enugu State, and healthy and increasing real estate values, a returning manufacturing/ industrial base, and a down-ward unemployment index, and a rising middle class etc? We cannot believe that the senator did not know these things before he made such a baseless claim against Enugu State in the hallowed halls of the Nigerian Senate. Furthermore, senator, on the matter of the revenue allocation formula between the federal, state, and local governments, we also understand that he and Senators Ndoma-Egba, James Manager, Sola Adeyeye, etc, would like an upward review of the allocation formula so that state governments would end up with a higher percentage than the federal government as is currently the case. We understand that he wants to portray that the current financial state of the state governments compel his desire for an upward review, but he did not have to attach a false, baseless and irresponsible label on a fiscally prudent and exemplary state such as Enugu in order to make his point. In conclusion, Senator, you were wrong. A retraction and an apology from you would be in order. Imo natives sacked by Abia govt storm Owerri Govt House On November 2, 2011 · In News BY CHIDI NKWOPARA OWERRI-Workers of Imo State origin recently sacked by Abia State Government Tuesday stormed Government House, Owerri, to plead with Governor Rochas Okorocha to absorb them into the state civil and public service. The dismissed workers, comprising mostly female teachers, health personnel and local council staff, who wore black skirts and white blouses, came in over 15 chartered commercial buses, chanting diatribes on Abia State Government for callously throwing them into the labour market. The aggrieved workers were armed with placards with various inscriptions, some of which read: “Owelle Rochas is our hope”, “Imo indigenes in Abia State civil service have arrived home”, “Please rescue Imo indigenes sacked by Abia Government”. Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Mr. Eze Ikemefula, expressed regret that after serving Abia State Government for several years and with monumental contributions towards the development of that state, Governor Theodore Orji rewarded them with summary dismissal. Addressing the protesting workers, the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, SGI, Professor Anthony Anwuka, described their plight as “quite pathetic” and assured them that government would definitely do something about their case. Anwuka recalled that he was “once a victim of the high handedness and obnoxious indigenization policy of Abia State Government when it sacked all non-indigenes in the old Imo State University (now Abia State University, Uturu) upon its creation in 1991”. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/11/imo-natives-sacked-by-abia-govt-storm-owerri-govt-house/ |
The Igbos that are in Benue state. A precise LGA(Oju) was mentioned on an Igede(Benue ethnic group) website. This is not us claiming land that is not ours ooo! "Created in 1976 from the defunct Idoma Division, Oju local government is located on the southern part of Benue. She is bordered by Otukpo local government to the north and by Anambra and Cross river states to the south. Her other neighbours are: Vandeikya local government to the east and Okpokwu local government to the west. The inhabitants are mainly Igede speaking people. There are also Izzis and Ezza-Igbos. The ethnic composition makes the local government an example of harmonious inter-ethnic relations." http://igede.org/2011/03/12/investment-opportunities-in-igedeland/ |

ogiye:I am Ukwuani. Since when did "Igbo" mean slave in Ukwuani?? You better stop reading nonsense on the internet and just go to Ukwuani land and learn. You can say non-Igbos used that word "Igbo" for slave in their language, but definitely not in ukwuani. Ukwuani to begin with, was never ONE clan. It was a fragmented area consisting of individual village groups just like other Igbo areas. Ukwuani is a recent name just like Enuani. "Uku/ukwuani means The foot/lower end of the land, "Enuani" means The top of the land. So if you want to take it down the route you are going then we "ukwuani" are not the same. Even Ndokwa people are trying to make a new clan called "Ndokwa". They can do that because ukwuani is a created name. It is not a real clan. If fact, does every ukwuani speak the same kind of ukwuani? The answer is NO and you should know that is u are ukwuani like u claim. On another note, I do get where you are coming from with the name argument with Andre. You don't seem to be denying relation with those who call themselves Igbo but you don't want to be called Igbo because of a negative connotation(slave) and you are perfectly fine with just being "Ukwuani". I hope I am getting you right? But overall, you dont need to insult others when you are trying to drill a point. And please dont speak for all of ukwuani when making particular statements. |
pazienza:Yep, that's him. |
We are not – Kano, Edo, Benue, others; reject merger By Our Reporter 30/10/2011 It’s plain nonsense, Enugu government Governor Sullivan Chime of Enugu State, speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Chukwudu Achife said: “It is grossly irresponsible and mischievous for anyone to say that Enugu state is facing bankruptcy. It is either that whoever published that thing did not do his homework well or that he acted in mischief. Everyone knows we are not a rich state but we can make bold to say that we know how to manage our resources. How can Enugu be bankrupt when we were able to pay October salaries even the federal allocation for the month has not been shared? Even with all the massive infrastructural development going on Enugu State, not a single contractor is being owed. So it is clear that such a claim is totally unfounded, it is plain nonsense.” Author Chancellor of Eastern Mandate Union (EMU), Dr. Arthur Nwankwo views the suggestion to merge some states on the grounds of non viability as a ploy to deny the South East an additional state. According to him, the suggesting is an excuse to ensure that South East does not get the additional states that the people of the zone are clamouring. “When did they start to use economic health of as a paradigm for creation of states? When these existing states were created, were they created on the basis of economic viability?, Nwankwo queried. “We are not talking of viability. What we are talking of is equalization. If North West has seven states and other zones six each leaving South East with five only, it amounts to gross injustice and marginalization. I have been telling them all the time: let us discuss Nigeria, but one way or the other they jeopardize the proposal. Let us discuss the way forward, the grounds for a strong united country but they say no. “Have you seen this kind of thing before? I insist that if North West has 7 states, South East should be given additional 2 states for equality sake. And I can tell you that no state in the South East, and indeed the whole of the South can be said not to be viable. The only thing needed to be evolved is resource control,” Nwankwo posited. Benue not going bankrupt –Gov’s adviser Special adviser to Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State on media, Dr Cletus Akwaya says the issue of merging the state with another does not arise. In his view, solution to whatever financial crisis exists in any State can be found outside of merging because something made some of he states to be financially handicapped to the extents that they cannot meets their obligation to the people. He cited the recent increase in minimum wage. He called for the reviewed of the revenue sharing formula. Former Lagos state police commissioner, Alhaji Abubarka Tsav described the senate report on the financial status of the state as unfortunate. But he advise the states to try to generate revenue of their own instead of depending on federal allocation We are not broke, says Edo Govt Edo State Government also rejected reports listing it as one of the states in a critical financial situation. Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Louis Odion said the has continually met its obligations to contractors and the people of the state. His words, “Whatever the notion behind the debate is good if it is aimed at releasing more funds to the states. But Edo State is not poor. It is not correct to say that the state is poor.” Former Peoples Democratic Party Senatorial aspirant, Barr. Henry Idahagbon said it would be wrong to merge states in the country. Barr. Idahagbon noted that all states in the country are broke in terms of revenue according to them from the federation account. He explained that the National Assembly should review the revenue sharing formula to give more funds to the states. Blame ruling oligarchy –Tunji Abayomi Human Rights Lawyer, Tunji Abayomi, noted that corruption by the ruling oligarchy across the states has continued to put the states’ finances in a serious mess. Merging the states in such a precarious situation, he said, could only be possible if the people voluntarily agree to be merged. His words, “The truth of the matter is that corruption is the most highest common factor in this country by the ruling oligarch. We are being governed by a ruthless, corrupt oligarchy. Amaechi, Rivers ACN disagree The Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state have disagreed over the Senate’s assessment of the General Sates of the states of the federation. Amaechi, who is also the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), maintains 36 states do not have enough funds, he wants upward review of revenue sharing in favour of the states. The Rivers governor reiterated that his administration obtained N40 billion loan from Zenith Bank, with N6 billion already paid. He noted that extra N10 billion loan would still be taken from a commercial bank, with approval already got from the Rivers House of Assembly for N200 billion bond from the capital market. Amaechi said with the short dry season in a state with swampy terrain, it would not be ideal to rely on monthly allocations from the federation account to embark on capital-intensive and people-oriented projects. However, the opposition ACN, through its Rivers Publicity Secretary, Jerry Needam, yesterday in Port Harcourt, insisted that the state, rich in crude oil and gas, was broke. The party said: “Amaechi’s government is into huge debts and making desperate moves to raise long-term loans from the capital market. Kano faults Senate The Kano State Government yesterday faulted the position of the Senate that it is in financial distress. The State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Alhaji Yusuf Bello Dambatta said the claim by the Senate and the criteria used to determine whether some states in the federation are broke or not is still unknown, and declared that Kano as far as he is concerned is not bankrupt but “financially moderate.” Bello, in an interview with The Nation in Kano said the confusion on the financial categorization of states, revolves around the revenue allocations to states from the excess crude oil account. He said the deductions made from allocations to the states to fund the new Sovereign Wealth Fund, have the tendency of putting the states in precarious financial situation. “If the state government receives between four and six billion Naira from the federation account every month, we would be able to address capital projects in the health, electricity, education and other sectors,” he said. Osun is not distressed - Finance Commissioner Osun state Commissioner for Finance, Economic Planning and Budget, Dr. Wale Bolorunduro, yesterday said there are indices to prove that the economy of Osun State is healthy. However, the commissioner agreed that there is a need for upward review of the revenue allocation formula in favour of the states of which Osun would be among the beneficiaries. He maintained that since the commencement of the new administration in the state, Governor Aregbesola has taken full control of the state finance and has given it a good shape. http://www.thenationonlineng.net/2011/index.php/news/24568-we-are-not-%E2%80%93-kano%2C-edo%2C-benue%2C-others%3B-reject-merger.html |

Ekiti Hausa community wants political appointments On October 25, 2011 · In News BY GBENGA ARIYIBI ADO-EKITI—Hausa community in Ekiti State has appealed Governor Kayode Fayemi to consider members for appointment in his cabinet to make the group have a sense of belonging in the state. Operating under the umbrella of Arewa Community in Ekiti State, the group argued that most of its members were born in the state, while others have been resident for between 30 and 40 years. Speaking in Ado-Ekiti, the leader of Hausa Community in Ekiti, Alhaji Adamu Lima, urged Fayemi to emulate his colleague in Lagos State, Mr Babatunde Raji Fasola who appointed non indigenes into his cabinet. He condemned the level of carnage being perpetrated by members of the Boko Haram sect and called on the group to shield their swords in the interest of peace. The community reminded the governor of the promise he made in 2007 during his electioneering campaign that he would consider members for political appointment if he became the governor. The group recounted of members positive contribution to the development of the state, saying a political appointment would further cement the already cordial relationship existing between them and the state government. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/10/ekiti-hausa-community-wants-political-appointments/ |
