All these erosion happen because our area has high volume of rainfall and our people hate vegetation cover such as trees which has protected the erosion prone soil for centuries.
We must go back to planting trees and grasses massively in our land. We must begin by planting trees and flowers along the major roads so that our people will begin once more to value the importance of nature in the environment. It is sad when i see a massive building without any flowers or trees in the compound. They make the entire compound a cement floor. Just unfortunate our people don't appreciate the beauty of blending natural plants, palm trees and flowers around a beautiful concrete house.
sunnyb0b0: That photoshop image doesn't wash bro. Look at the vegetation around the vehicle, it's not Nigerian. Secondly, the driver is an Oyibo man.
Sullivan actually bought two of those trucks.
Even though i prefer Obiano's method of actually using human beings for now to scrape the mountain of sand that accumulated over the decades. Anambra roads have never been swept for more than 40 years. That machine will be useless to use now on our roads. If we sustain this culture, in time we can use machines to do touch-up cleaning.
jonathanOz: https://www.nairaland.com/543660/southeast-poorest-zone-nigeria Check out the above thread created some years back by that mofo abagworo and you might have a rethink about his personality. Though i detest chino's attack on him on this thread (cos it derails it), but i think that guy deserves every insult on his person. He's a green snake in a green grass. I doubt he is igbo
The guy is not igbo. he is perhaps one of the children of those northern or yoruba police officers and army people posted to the east. Their children can speak Igbo fluently, but still hate their Igbo friends passionately.
Mishelly: But ive witnessed so much disunity going on amongst us igbos. I cant believe the amounts of hate speech etc i see on the imo thread. Its really bad, and it hurts please @spyder @cjrane etc please help. All i see is attacks being made at imo ppl. Even if rochas is seen as a "nonentity" to certain ppl, thats no reason to sprew hate on the state. Im not going to mention names but its always a paticular 2 or 3 ppl that always try to derail that thread. Same happened on the anambra thread( until lately), the abia thread, etc.
@ bolded, It is Chino equating all Imo people to Rochas. i often wonder why he has such hatred for our kith and kin just because Nigeria decided to call mgbidi= Imo and Uli= Anambra. Go read the history of Azia people in anambra, they are all from the same clan as Mgbidi,Ihiala and Uli.
Conversely, Abagworo is perhaps an hausa guy , at best he is from one of the south-south tribes. But he loves to pose as a guy from Imo in order to encourage Chino to attack Ndi Imo. meanwhile his true tribe is well hidden and does not get attacked by Chino. Just forget those two characters. We shall overcome all their stupidity.
If she begins opposition to this government using BBOG simply because she was not appointed a minister, then is is indeed a shameless woman that should not be taken seriously.
It still baffles me how Oby Ezekwesili was rejected as a Minister under Buhari.
Does this mean Obasanjo has no influence over Buhari or it was that easy to see through Oby's pretenses of bring Back Our girls that she had suddenly abandoned?

spyder880: Enugu state is blessed, so blessed that we are taking our blessings for granted. Imagine having a rice producing community hidden into obscurity and making sure successive governments ignore the potentials of the place just because some people think they have all the power to make decisions that only them can understand.
This is the sad story of Nomeh Unateze in Nkanu East local government where good quality local rice is growing like grass, but where the government does not even know, or care. How then can we be paying lip service to our agricultural drive, or our promise to feed our people with our home grown resources?
Sometimes, I wonder if we are serious as a people.
We are too blessed to be serious about anything. I flew Ethiopian airline to China recently and i wondered why Nigeria was such a sorry place. They maintain hundreds of airplanes in top notch state with zero air crash history! They even have a top notch aviation college right there in Addis Ababa training pilots for Lufthansa!
Nigeria has a huge middle class population to make six successful airlines as big as Ethiopian, yet we don't have even one. i would not fly any Nigeria based airline for a long haul flight of more than 1 hour duration because i don't trust our NCAA inspection of aircrafts to do a thorough systematic check every month or quarter to ensure airworthiness or you ground that plane, no matter who owns the airline. Primarily because we appoint crooks and semi-ediots to run ministries because they are important party politicians and Nigerians will still vote for a failed President so long he is their tribe man.
I hope the Enugu state government helps the farmers to organize into cooperatives to source loans and farm input from government. most importantly, they have a functional rice mill in the area to bag their produce for the market. One day, oil will finish in Nigeria so that we can finally concentrate in real sectors that produce jobs and true prosperity which oil could never do.
TonyeBarcanista: The South-South or "Niger Delta" is the region that is rich in mineral and human resources. It is the most misunderstood region that has experienced the worst form of marginalisation within the Nigeria State and suffered environmental pollution. It consists of over 40 ethnic groups which include; Bini, Efik, Urhobo, Ogoni, Ijaw etc within the six states that makes up the region (Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross river states).
Who Should Speak For The Niger-Delta I want to state that no single ethnic group within or outside the region has the authority to speak on behalf of the entire region. However, people of the region have co-existed for centuries, some ethnic groups even trace their ancestry to common 'ancestor'. As a proud Nigerian from the Niger Delta extraction, I considered it wise to bring to the fore the demands of ethnic nationalities with respect to their respective declarations and bill of rights.
WHAT NIGER-DELTANS WANT: 1. Autonomy/Resource Control: This is the Demand-in-Chief of all ethnic nationalities in the region within the Nigeria state. Ogoni nation in paragraph 20 of Ogoni Bill of Right(1991) demand for control of resources within Ogoni land. Similarly, paragraphs 3 of Urhobo Declaration(1998), 10 of Ijaw/Kaiama Declaration (1998), 4 of Ikwere Rescue Charter(1999), 5 of Oron Bill of Right (1999) and 53 of Itsekiri Memorandum(2012) all call for Regional Autonomy and control of resources that lies within their respective lands, while paying an agreed percentage to the Federal/Central Government.
2. Abolishment of Land Use Act(1978) and Other Laws: All ethnic nationalities within the Niger-Delta were unanimous in their demand for the abolishment of Petroleum Act of 1969 and 1991, the National Waterways Decree of 1977, the Land Use Act of 1978 and 1993, and Supreme Court ruling of April 5, 2002. This demand is found in the declarations/bill of rights of each ethnic groups.
3. Cooperation Among Ethnic Nations: Ethnic nations within the Niger-Delta are peaceful and law abiding people. Despite difference in tribes and tongues, the pledge for peaceful cohabitation with other groups within and outside the region is one that is held so dear. A look at the declaration/bill of rights by all ethnic groups will give a picture that all nationalities are in solidarity and pledges to work with each other. Ikwerre people expressed solidarity with "all oppressed peoples in Nigeria in their just struggle for justice and equity." Similarly, Urhobo call for "full cooperation not conflict among nationalities". Ijaws in their declaration offer a hand of friendship and comradeship to the Itsekiri, Ilaje, Urhobo, Isoko, Edo, Ibibio, Ogoni, Ekpeye, Ikwerre etc. They also affirm commitment to joint struggle with the other ethnic nationalities in the Niger delta area for self-determination and expressed "solidarity with all peoples, organisations and ethnic nationalities in Nigeria and elsewhere who are struggling for self-determination and justice"
4. Niger-Deltans Not In Conflict: Make no mistake, ethnic nations within Niger-Delta are not in conflict. Ethnic nationalities within the Niger Delta have realised that the present structure in Nigeria and the multi-national companies are responsible for setting ethnic nations against each other. In Warri for instance, the Ijaws, Urhobos and Itsekiri have lived together since the 15th century without rancour or war. But in 1997, Abacha relocated the Hq of Warri South-West LG from Ogbe-Ijaw(in Ijaw area) to Ogidigben (Itsekiri area). This singular action precipitated riots and then ethnic war between the two groups. In a situation of fiscal federalism/autonomy, such wouldn't have even been. The People Are Wise! On September 29 2014, the Ijaw Youth Council and Ikwerre Youth Council vowed to work together because the two ethnic groups have "common destiny". They realised the scheme of oil firms to exploit their lands while setting them against each other. www.thetidenewsonline.com/2014/09/29/ijaw-ikwerre-youth-unite-against-oil-firms/
All through the Midwest/Bendel/Benin Empire, the ethnic nations never went to war against each other. Today, God in His divine Wisdom has brought these people of the SIX states together. The unity and bond is stronge than ever.
5. Niger-Delta Is Not Hating On Anybody: In the declarations of the various ethnic nationalities within the Niger-Delta, no mention of hate against any group was made. The oppressor is the Nigeria system and multinational companies and NOT the tribe of office holders. Hence, the call for the convocation of Soveriegn National Conference. This position I believe is shared by other groups as testified in the respective declarations. Niger-Deltans may be dissatisfied with the present structure of Nigeria(like everyone else) but they DON'T hate Nigeria. They only want it restructured for the good of all.
6. Niger Delta "Is" A Majority Group: By the grace of God, the unity of the Niger-Delta has made the people a collective majority group in Nigeria despite the minority status/population of the respective ethnic nations that make up the region. The people of Niger-Delta are equal in unity whether Efik, Ika, Itsekiri, Ibibio, Ekpeye, Ikwerre, Bini, Esan, Ogoni, Ijaw etc. Despite the unity, they recognise and respect respective ethnic distinctiveness. The resolve to see to the actualisation of the noble demands within the Nigeria State is unshakable. By the Grace of God, the demand for restructuring shall come to fruition for the benefit of all Niger-Deltans and the Nigeria State.
May God Bless Niger-Delta May God Bless Nigeria
Oga mi, You have guts o! Although i completely agree with you, I wonder how you imagined the authority to speak for the entire Niger Delta?
You can't even speak for just the Ijaw in Delta state, talk more of the ones in Bayelsa and rivers. it is the whole Niger delta that you now represent?
enochnochi: Please you people should ignore that Yoruba clown. He's referring to a tribe called iboes and you are responding, unu abu iboes?
Nnaa, Sometimes some of our boys carry on like their IQ is below normal. That yoruba boy came here today looking for someone to help him derail the thread and even posting to himself using a different moniker. how it is so hard to ignore him baffles me. In spite of a thousand progress issues we can always comment on here being constantly updated by investnow2013, some of our boys will rather waste their time, data and energy responding to a yoruba lunatic. odi egwu.
After we rest for a week, we should come out again and continue the protest until the illegal detention of Mr nnamdi Kanu and violation of his rights are addressed.
This is a one on one confrontation between Soldiers and Pro Biafran protesters, The army tried to stop them and they resisted and the next thing was serious gunshots into the air from the soldiers, Some of them initially refused to run and I could hear a man shouting ''Kill me''....
hahn: So, I am supposed to go on holiday to PH and I reside at Sagamu, Ogun state and was thinking it would be fun to go via railway since GEJ didn't an excellent work with our trains during his tenure.
Any ideas on how I can go about it, please?
there is a new railway line just built in the atlantic ocean
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Good job people for ignoring him above. He is now posting to himself using different monikers. We should just continue to ignore them until they get tired. Just concentrate on discussing real issues and let the hoodlums display their madness until they are tired.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Please ignore that Yoruba troll above. He should go to Yoruba commonwealth thread. Not a single Igbo has gone there to disturb them for more than 100 pages. I was so happy our people left them alone. But, they will always come to our thread to troll.
investnow2013: Since the inauguration of Anambra state daily sweepers Agency our cities and towns are clean and glittering. This program is laudable and commendable we pray its sustained for a very long time. I leave you with sights of Borromeo round about Near Npor and Onitsha.
Truly the best innovation Willie Obiano started this year.
Hopefully in addition to sweeping, they also plant flowers and trees along our major roads and mark the roads well as its done abroad.
Following the fall in oil price, Buhari new idea and tactics of raising IGR is to bait foreign firms and impose huge fines of $5 billion dollars on them to provide money to squander.
After MTN pays up, it will be the turn of another foreign company as it becomes official to impose Billions of dollars fines on foreign businesses.
All these blood sucking Boko haram and yoruba soldiers shooting at unarmed protesters. if you push us into arming ourselves, you will be the ones bleeding.
If Buhari had his way, he would fill the team with only katsina,Kano and kaduna indigenes. They would never have even qualified from West africa, talk more going to world cup.
Truth be told, britain is in no capacity to play a major global role as it did in 1966.
Truth be told, many more people around the world today have seen the deceit called Nigeria, where whole sections of the country is subjugated simply based of the accident of being born Igbo.
It is untenable for Igbos to continue accepting being second class citizens in a country they helped immensely in its founding. The same way igbos and other great peoples of Africa rejected colonialism, the same way they will reject internal colonialism by hausa or fulani. It is as simple as that. Anyone that thinks igbo will be their slave should get ready to fight for it. The cat is already out of the bag. in time, it will naturally grow, Britain or no britain.
