oturugo: For God's sake, shut up your stinking mouth boy. Arochukwu shares a lot with Ejagham, Ibibio, Annang etc, yet they are not insane to disclaim Igbo.
Stop it now.
thats cos they r Igbos influenced by those oda cultures. On d other hands Abohs were only influenced by Igbos. U r just workin urself up ova pple tht don't see u as their brodas

Abagworo: The modern Igbo identity developed from Aboh. Your language is the same with Imo State people. You'll likely greet "Ajee" like us. Ethnicity is dynamic just like language and I won't be surprised if quest for political convenience and acceptability in the South-south has also infested Aboh. Aboh which started the Igbo thing will today be a distinct minority group of Igbo speakers while others that never used the name are the new Igbos.

We don't greet Ajee. I'l study this though

Dudu_Negro: Dude, do me a favor. Stop using Yoruba as beacon for what should or shouldn't be applied here.

Address the issue directly by drawing core facts within the context of Igbo cultural institutions instead of using what foreigners in Yorubaland do as a parity for what must obtain here on this issue.

If Aboh bear Igbo names and speak Igbo and are custodians of Igbo masquerade cults, then there is a footprint of shared identity and the depth and broadness of that presence needs to be tracked and accounted for. Dont you think?

Leave Yoruba out of this my brother.
Thnk you for helping someone reason logically. Mr Dudu negro, as much as we share some cultural traits wit d Igbos we also share so many others wit d izons, binis, isokos nd even Urhobos. But d value system of d Abohs is a sharp contrast from any so called 'Igbo group'

oturugo: Am sorry Negro nts, I so much admire the mentality of the Yorubas here that's why I use it as an example.
Am sure if you are an Igbo like me you will be annoyed with people always coming up with craps every week that this and that is not Igbo. Don't be surprised to see one demented poster here one day claiming that Okigwe is not Igbo.
The funny part is tht you have made no valid point yet u rant abuses at d slightest opportunity. Whts d cause of ur hate?

safarigirl: Brethere, I fear for my brother Melvin in the coming week for the following reasons:

1) This one that Rubies have crowned O'neil king and Diamonds have crowned Melvin king, when both houses merge, the battle for superiority will surely leave a bitter taste in O'neil's mouth and he most likely will have to relinwuish his position as ogat at the top to the true Sherrif

2) Let us not forget that Feza really likes Melvin, and feels more free with him, she didn't even want to return to Rubies last friday due to the fear of o'neil. Once he comes over, she may well abandon O'neil, further increasing his bitterness. Every man's ego revolves around power and women, if O'neil loses his power and his woman to Melvin....

3) This Ugandan chic, though she may stay for a short time, is the most beautiful Emerald girl, and she wants Melvin again. How do you think other guys will feel when all the pretty gals be wanting Melvin: Maria, Dillish, Feza, now Sophie...another obstacle for my innocent bros

But I take consolation in the fact that those in the kick out WA alliance will not be quick to nominate Melvin...Sulu and Feza are a bit too close to him to nominate him, even Annabel likes him more than she cares to admit, so he may not be in immediate danger

Nando and O'neil remain the most bitter, Bimp worships the ground Melvin walks on since Sunday...his biggest problems are Nando and O'neil

Sorry for the Epistle smiley
u get sense.

oturugo: For how long must we continue to see moronic threads as the one here?. Today, it's Abors are not Igbos, yesterday, it was Agbor is not Igbo, May be tomorrow it will be Igbo uzo or Akwukwu Igbo is not Igbo. So many idle brains here this days.
Yet Yorubas are not here to say, Ekiti is not Yoruba, Offa is not Yoruba, Ikorodu is not Yoruba etc.
This brainless thread deserves the waste bin Biko
LMAO. Mr Super intelligent I'm sori to announce to u tht we r not Igbos, we have never been nd will neva be. I doubt it if u hv eva bin to Aboh, but if u hv u'd most likely hv heard d Aboh man say 'kene bu onyi-igbo omari ni Aboh su' meaning: 'this one is an Igbo man, he doesnt knw hw to speak Aboh'. Innately, we don't even imagine ourselves as Igbos in d least sense. You dnt knw so just chill man

Nwa oguta: small boy how old are you? If i may ask which language do you speak? Which names do you bear? Please confirm from the elderly people in ur village b4 you respond to my questions.
I doubt it if u read my post through cos if u did u wud hv found d ansas to ur questns except tht regarding my age. Anyway, to start wit, i am not a small boy. As for my name, i wud rather not disclose tht at this point cos its not necessary. I have my own questns for u, the name of the President of Nigeria is Goodluck Jonathan, does this in anyway make him English or Jewish/Hebrew?
CultureAbohs Of Delta State Are Not Igbos by clefstone(op): 10:03am On Jul 17, 2013
For some time now I hv been reading some amusing and quite interesting threads concerning d issue of Delta Igbos and Identity ish. Most of the points from both sides hv been sound and sensible. I might be wrong, but i hv observed tht majority, if not all igbos beliv all of the pple of Delta North are Igbos. Before I go on, I must add tht we r all entitled to our opinions no matter hw offensive.
Presently, i happen to live in d north and my experience here has made me to know d level of ignorance Nigerians tend to exhibit in d understnding of pple outside their ethnic grp. For example, to d average untravelled southerner, all northerners r Hausas, a complete fallacy that wud make the indigenes of entire states like Benue nd Plateau cringe(Idomas and Tivs don't even speak hausa). The northerner and Yorubas i met during service all believed tht if u r not a northerner nor Yoruba, u automatically r Igbo, a conclusion that is sickening to millions of pple down south.
Personally, i hv learned to live wit such fallacies but i hv not learned to be Igbo yet. Yes, being Igbo is a way of life, a way of life markedly different from my 'peoples way of life'. My people here refer to the people of Aboh, a distinct tribe wit a distinct language that is Igboid. I read somewhr an article wc stated tht language is very dynamicand tht d language of an entire people can change within 100yrs. The change in language doesnt make d people a 'new ethnic grp'. For example, its obvious tht a time, wud come wen some ethnic groups will lose their present languages because of d strong influence of English language, wud tht make them Englishmen? Today we celebrate Christmas and soon we might strt celebrating Halloween nd thanksgivin, wud tht make us Americans?
Are Abohs Igbos? The right person to ask is the Aboh man nd i bet u he'd say no. Are Asabas Igbos? I cnt speak for them cos i'm not Asaba. Yes, we(Abohs) share some similarities wit the ibos such as name, words(i am tempted to use language but it myt be misleading) and......hmmm....very little more, mayb masquerades but that doesnt make us same ethnic grp. We r more like two different pple tht met and shared ideas.
By d way, d term Delta ibo is only used for the sake of ease of description to refer to pple of delta state such as Abohs whose languages r similar to d igbo language.

One of the ffg 5 is going to wind 300k USD.
1. Dillish. Strongest contender cos no female housemate has managed to command as much respect as she has. Her beauty wud hv bin to her disadv cos of 'usually jealous' female voters but for the fact tht she has not bin arrogant about her looks (unlike Hakeem, who cud hv bin d male version of her in d house but was too conscious of his looks).
2. Melvin. Could hv bin no1 but for dillish. He is Nigerian, a big factor in itself. Also he has avoided controversy and fights in d house. Many voters will percieve him as a naturally decent guy. Ironically, d fact he is Nigerian might work against him in d final voting other countries will be like, ''Nigeria can't b winning all d time''
3. Angelo. From an important country, SA, mature and seem real. But I see Beverly ruining his chances once both houses r merged.

Is it a special type of ibo or what ? Thats why i love d pride hausas and yorubas hv in their language.
Its only when we igbos come down, we hear delta-ibo, ikwerre-ibo, onitsha-ibo etc

I don't intend derailing the thread plz.
There is no such thing as 'Delta Ibo'. The term is mainly used for d sake of convenience to describe the people of Delta state whose language is 'Igboid'. If u observe other cultural aspect of these people such as dressing, marraige nd burial rites, way of life and values u will see a sharp contrast from d Igbos. I am fron Ndokwa land, not Igbo

Nairaland GeneralMuch Ado About Free And Fair Elections. by clefstone(op): 8:38am On May 06, 2011
The 2011 polls hv come and gone after all the promises, postponements and violence. Reflecting back at the elections I believe it is the free-est elections we hv had in this country since 1999 but is it the fairest? is it acceptable? I think that a free election is that in which the electorates are allowed to vote for any candidate of their choice. If I am right then many would agree with me that this was the case in most areas during the elections. That said, the question is did their votes count? In some parts of the country it would seem that it did to a large extent. For instance, in the south-western states where elections were held you get a feeling that the will of the people prevailed going by the acceptance of the election result by both opposition of eventual winners and the general population in this region. This was not the case in every parts of the country. In the South South state of Delta for example declaration of the incumbent governor Dr. uduaghan, as the winner of the guber poll was followed by cold tension in the state which fortunately did not turn violent. People asked questions, opposition parties rejected the result amid reports of election rigging in certain LGs apparently aided by the police, INEC officials and the state chairman of CAN, a certain Bishop Avwomakpa. Although these are unproven, comparing it with the situation in states such as Oyo you would agree that INEC has some questions to answer. I was in Edo state in 2008 when the tribunal verdict to install Com. Adams Oshiomole as governor was made, I saw an electrifying atmosphere. Jubilant crowd throng the streets to celebrate what they saw as their victory, a sign of the peoples acceptance. A sign of fairness- fair election. If this can be replicated nation-wide then we would say we are finally there. The international community cannot be our mouthpiece to say an election is fair. We must be our own judge and get it right. I an tempted to criticize Prof. Jega's INEC but will wait until the tribunals conclude its job. INEC's voters register if credible will bring justice at the end of it all. Cases of multiple thumb printing will be revealed easily by forensics investigation. For now its a wait and see game.

One of my favourite saints, St. Augustine is one of the doctors of The church. I recommend you read his epic book, The Confession. It is an autobiography that tells of Augustine's struggle to find God. It helped me understand that the hand of God is working in the life of everyman, even those we consider as terrile sinners. It also gives hope to us Christians in our quest for Happiness, which we can only find in God. One of the best quotes from this piece is: THOU HAS MADE US FOR THYSELF AND OUR SOULS ARE RESTLESS UNTIL THEY REST IN THEE. Another of Augustine's epic is THE CITY OF GOD. These books really explains our belief as christians. If u are interested in these books contact me and i will help u get them for free online.

The truth is that christians r more tolerant to other religions than muslims. I am not saying this cos I am a Xtian but tell me how many times have u heard of religious crisis in the south.

One question: should this have happened the other way, i.e, a Muslim intruding into a Christian gathering to proclaim Allah as saviour, would this have gone beyond the school and turned into a national issue.
Christianity EtcIn Defence Of The Catholic Church by clefstone(op): 11:06pm On Aug 12, 2010
THIS post is prompted by the growing negative impression carried by many about the catholic church. I have been a catholic from birth and see it as a duty to defend the church that has built my faith in Christ, the redeemer of the world. Before anything I must start by saying that the Church has made some mistakes in the past and she has not been ashamed of admitting this. as a matter of fact, an institution that has existed for more than 2000 years is bound to make errors during this period.
If there are any reservations u have against the catholic Church please state them here and I'd be glad to clarify such issues. Please be civilized, no indecent language. Other catholics on nairaland should please contribute to this thread.

Na wa o. Why does any religious question turn into a denominational arguement. I think the best arguement a christian should take up is his/her way of life or the way of life of the congregation especially in terms of love for neighbour. Seeing Christ does not guarantee salvation(afterall Judas saw him, ate with him and even lived with him), likewise miracles does not guarantee salvation (remember The 10 lepers). The only guarantee is our attitude towards our neighbour so let's argue rightly if we must
