Keep the conversation going, get to know her more via chat, phone calls etc.
KEEP THE CONVERSATION INTERESTING AND GOING.
Use this opportunity to ask some serious questions about her bla bla bla.
By the time she is back depending on your conversation she would already understand the direction you are heading. What if he loses her to someone else? Moreover, for this COVID19 period, via phone ain't bad |

0m0nnakoda: I don't know what you mean by lenient You may wish to Google pass rates for international postgraduate medical examinations. Not everyone passes Every one cannot become a Consultant. The idea that just by undergoing training means one has what it takes is puzzling. Does every ICAN Candidate pass? Does every undergraduate graduate? Anyone can use Google for theory? I am scratching my head and don't know what to say to that one I don't mean to graduate anyhow. Maybe I didn't use the right vocabulary. But I have heard people that passed all the stages in the final level exam towards becoming a specialist, only for them to be failed based on simple things such as not remembering a 'term' during oral examination. Examiners vary. And trust me, some will pass this kind of candidates and simply remind them the word, while some old professors will ask such candidate to come back next time. This is an example where I say Google can help in a real life situation. And in advanced countries they use their computer to search for information (may not be Google, can be a book or protocol of the hospital). Note oral examinations are subjective and some candidates can be there and it will simply be a gist with the examiner. There are all these medical exams over 500 doctors will write, at the end only 30 will pass. And you feel it is normal? Or they are making money for the college? Being lenient doesn't mean passing every TDH. Anyone that passes all stages but fails at the oral part on is not a dunce. |

0m0nnakoda: Resident doctors are not employees per se They are essentially TRAINEES. Trainees have a peculiar contract with budget for training, courses ,study leave etc Infact it is not usual to offer an extension. They are expected to pass their Fellowship exams during the duration of the contract and move on to create room for fresh intakes If they have not passed their exams in the expected period they could consider Staff grade =Medical Officer roles They should not deny training spaces to fresh residents Your last sentence says a lot. The vacancy for residency training in Nigeria is becoming something else. Not passing the fellowship exams is also dependent on the examiners. Some of the old examiners tend to look at medical exams with the analogue knowledge they used during their days. For one to have undergone training for 6 years in an accredited institution, signed and presented for an exam by the institution shows he/she has the adequate knowledge in that speciality. There is no need to expect one to turn into a professor during residency training before passing the exam. The examiners should be lenient and focus their examination more on practical issues rather than theoretical. Because these days anybody can use Google for theory. |

owukpa: The 30 doctors allegedly sacked by the management of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi displayed their sack letters earlier today Wednesday, as they called on the state Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom to intervene.
In a press briefing with newsmen, the President of the Association of Resident Doctors in the institution said about 32 of their members were sacked by the management. According to her, the sack was not in accordance with the laws regulating Residency Training in Nigeria.
She dispelled the statement of the hospital management who said they had not domesticated the Residency Training law in the hospital, hence were took their actions based on the hospital policy.
The President said, "The Medical Residency Training Act (MRTA) was passed by the national assembly in 2017. A year later, it was signed into law by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mohammadu Buhari.
"The Act regulates Residency Training in institutions anywhere in Nigeria and Benue State University Teaching Hospital is in Nigeria and ought to abide by the law".
She called on the Benue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom to intervene in order to avert crisis in the health sector of the state.
"We are, again, appealing to the amiable Executive Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Dr Samuel Ortom and all other well-meaning sons and daughters of Benue State to prevail on the management of Benue State University Teaching Hospital to obey the law, in order to avert a crisis in the health sector of the state."
Efforts to get access to the Chief Medical Director, Prof Terrumun Swende proved abortive. A source confirmed that he was in a closed meeting with the Governor over the matter and could not respond to calls and messages.

In this current situation, when countries are in short supply of medics. I pity the government and the people of that state. The state government may not even be paying the meagre 5000 Naira hazard allowance the federal government pays doctors.
This should call for a protest ideally (if not for COVID-19) if the inhabitants of that state cherish their health.
By the time those doctors set up their private clinics, can the people afford it?
On another topic on front page, a police man shot someone in Abia State.I tried to check the distance from point of gunshot (Ukwa East) to the hospital he was rushed to (Abia Teaching Hospital).... The distance is something else, damn far. Probably the young man would have survived if a hospital is reachable within 30mimites. That shows how far well-equipped hospitals are closer to the common man. |

New York that's one of the richest cities in the world and has a state of the art healthcare is presently begging Coronavirus to pity it to no avail. It's recording nearly 800 deaths per day. What's good about this infection, please? Rivers shouldn't get as much as Lagos. But they should get something to curtail the virus in their State. Any state with a recorded case should get support, but not as big as that for Lagos. States without cases should be equipped with necessary facilities as well, so deserve support. Remember, the structures set in place now will and can serve other purposes. There is still Lassa, TB, and other diseases ravaging other states. |

What about those who are newly infected without any symptoms and are also transmitting the virus? Is this the best way to stop the spread? Think critically pls. Is this how south Africa was able to test thousands of persona in few days? Stop making excuse for the failure of our government. I even propose that every local government in Nigeria should have testing zone. That way we can curb the spread And you think you are making sense and thinking critically? Even in the UK and other developed countries they don't test anybody that presents for a test. To test anyone, there need to be a criteria. You can read my replies to my earlier mentions. |

shogsman: I keep telling you people that they don't have enough testing kits, I don't even think they have up to 2000 kits in the whole country that is why they are only attending to influential and critical cases. They don't have the resources to test even 0.01 percent of the entire population if they did the number of infected would have ran into thousands by now. Your question now should be how do they hope to treat a disease when they don't even have basic testing kits for the virus. Stay home, wash your hands and avoid unneccesary contact,we are on our own. It is really a sad situation. I am one of those advocating for the number of tests conducted to be made public. I guess you know why. Not because of the possibly limited test kits, but the numbers can give an overview of the situation on ground. For instance, testing 10,000 people and reporting 111 cases says a lot, in comparison with testing 120 people with 111 cases. Both scenarios show 111 cases, but the latter shows no adequate screening etc. If you are popular on twitter or other social networks, please let us demand the number of tests done. |

Health › Re: Coronavirus: My Experience Calling The NCDC Toll-free Number by Cmanforall: 2:13am On Mar 29, 2020 |
Emescot: Hello guys, Let me start by narrating my ordeal, about 2weeks ago I started having my regular symptoms of typhoid and malaria which is back pain, hot breathe, evening fever and change in urine colour, so i rushed to the pharmacy and got malaria drugs.
Fast forward to Saturday 21st,I started coughing but i didn't take it too seriously, but by midnight of that day I woke up with the worst fever and hallucination i have ever experienced, by Sunday morning the fever was gone, but then I had itchy/sore throat coupled with the cough, so i gargled salt and warm water and i got relief from the sore throat.
At exactly 6pm that Sunday, the fever returned but this time more serious than the last one and this time it lasted till Monday morning, at this point I was already on google searching for all the symptoms of CoronaVirus, instantly I called my nurse that I needed injection for malaria and typhoid and she told me no treatment unless i go for a test to confirm if its malaria and typhoid.
The thought of going to the Lab for test made me feel uneasy so i called the NCDC toll-free line (080097000010), I called for 12 good times and each time I was told to hold on but the call gets disconnected, I wasn't going to let myself die of ordinary Typhoid because I want to self isolate so i went to the Diagnosis centre with my nose mask on. At the centre i was dying inside, dying not because I was sick inside or I was afraid of what the result would bring, but dying because I was trying so hard to suppress the urge to cough, because I didn't want to scare people or spread whatever was wrong with me. After 2hrs the result was out and i had malaria and too much typhoid in my body system, I went home gave the nurse the result and she gave me 3 injections for the Malaria and typhoid, and I am much better now than yesterday, and she also prescribed Tutolin for my cough.
I read today about a Nairalander that called the NCDC line today to explain his symptoms and was told they only attend to people that had contact with someone who just came from travel outside Nigeria, with that I can only conclude that there is no seriousness in this Government to fight the Virus, right from the beginning they refused to close all point of entry in the country because they thought its child's play, now they wont even respond to Emergency calls.
Forget the nose mask, the hand sanitizer, once this gets to the common man in Nigeria, who believes they cant get the virus, who still believes the hot weather will kill the virus inside you, who believes the cure for every sickness is either paracetamol or antibiotics, then I am sorry to say, Nigeria might just become worse than italy
Stay safe guys, Stay indoors. How come? But Davido and his crew (31) all got tested. How much is the test or is the test for free? |
