Politics › Re: COVID-19: Enugu Approves Assurance Package For Doctors, Other Health Workers by Cmanforall: 7:25am On Mar 26, 2020
There is need to encourage the doctors.
Imagine paying them 5000 Naira as monthly hazard allowance and they expose themselves to all sorts of diseases, not only COVID-19, but Lassa, HIV etc.
In fact, all healthcare workers deserve permanent increment in their hazard allowance, with or without this coronavirus.

I feel for you all.
My advice:
Do the wedding with only the parents present. Max of 10.
Postpone the party
Start enjoying your wife ( no longer premarital s*X)

Thank me later.

Why would he even sneeze with his mask off?

Okay, if it feels uncomfortable, why not sneeze 'properly' ?

I think the level of education required to hold elective positions should be reviewed!

This is a very serious situation.
But my question follows this scenario:

As a doctor in the Aso rock hospital.
Three patients (The president, a 40-year old Aide, and Kyari ) with symptoms of COVID-19 presents. One ventilator available (if there is any at all)

Who will get access to the ventilator?

God plz we want good news. cheesy

Meanwhile this news cannot be true. It takes 72hrs to complete the process of testing, coupled with the queue at the testing centres so this news cannot be correct. Moreso NCDC added just 2 persons today, where did they do their own test for it not to be captured.
Not really 72hours. It all depends on the method used.

See the advantage of having local production? In this critical time no country will be willing to sell to anybody cos they need it themselves. Encourage local manufacturing our govt will not listen.

Former special aide to President Goodluck Jonathan is claiming one of the two ventilators in Gwagwalada hospital has been moved to state house Abuja . Is the govt hiding something? Is it only Kyari that has tested positive ? Since Kyari is being moved to Lagos who requires the ventilator in aso rock ?

It is sad to know that there is no ventilator in Aso rock clinic. One can then imagine what is expected of other government hospitals across the country.

bolayei:
Nigeria is not a place to be stranded in while there is a pandemic. Some people wont be able to survive in Nigeria due to lack of funds.

Instead of petitioning the Nigerian government they should check gov.uk/coronavirus and get the contact to call for people stranded abroad and how they can get support.

Them sef no get brain when you hear borders are being shut why didn't they fly back immediately instead them dey enjoy warm weather
If they are British citizens, the UK can send flight in agreement with Nigerian government, to pick her citizens. But only CITIZENS. That's what other countries are doing.

No one should attack Gloria please. I love the way she was communicating even when they wanted to shut her down.

The fact is that the federal government made the decision and the Airlines have to abide by it. If we had 'Nigerian Airways', that could be the only flight allowed to enter the the country, on the sole purpose of bringing stranded Nigerians back. But this will only be possible if the other countries allow incoming flights from Nigeria.

seriously, I'm still trying to figure out how thousands of peoples if not millions will manage in order to survive through.

God help us! embarassed
It is not necessary. With the way other sectors will be locked down and the awareness on coronavirus, the number of people going to the market will reduce. In fact, some market men and women will close their shops temporarily.
Even marketers won't like to have crowds in their shops.
The key is in awareness and no need to declare the markeys closed.

Okay guys, so I went to my local government last week Thursday to see my mother who happen to be a local government health worker in IMO state. During our conversation I found out that the local health workers around the area have not been trained on how to handle cases of corona virus. I was totally shocked on learning this. I found out that the majority of the local health workers like her especially those in the rural areas has no idea of what this virus outbreak is all about. How can health workers handle cases of what they don't have an idea about?

I don't know why our government has refused to be proactive. Must we wait to record a case of covid-19 before preparations could be put in place to contain the spread? Even if states do not have testing kits for whatever reasons, at least it is expected that state and local government health workers of each state should be trained and enlightened enough about the virus so that they can report any suspected case to the Nigerian center for disease control.

Government must not assume that every one is aware of the present spread of corona virus. Not everyone is on social media and we have people in rural areas that is not equipped with adequate information.

I am using this opportunity to call on the attention of IMO state governor in the person of his Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma to order the immediate training and sensitization of imo state health workers in preparation to handle any case of covid-19 in the eventuality of any outbreak or occurance in IMO state.

I will also like the government to enforce a ban on all religious and social gathering just like the Lagos state government.
We must not wait for covid-19 to be confirmed in IMO state before taking precaution.
I learnt last week that the Imo state governor has set up committee for COVID-19 which is headed by Prof. Iwu. If you are not aware of that and you're in Imo state, I wonder! Or was it fake news?

All health workers in general should be trained in addition to providing adequate protective wears. Not just in Imo state.

And when it comes to the Local government health workers, this is one of the reasons I strongly support autonomy of the Local government. For instance, in this situation, a Local government will not need State's assistance to conduct training of health workers in her primary health centres.

RuudVanNisteroy:
When they were looting the country blind they never knew a day will come like this. The $600 billion dollars they have looted since 1960 and the oil blocks worth billions of dollars they cornered for themselves may not be able to save them.
They can no long fly to USA,Canada,United Kingdom,Germany or India for medical checkup. They deliberately refused to fix the hospitals because they would rather put the money in their accounts to fund there luxury lifestyles and fly at a moment notice to the the best health facilities built by visionary leaders in other countries.
All the PDP,APC,APGA supporters will finally have their eyes opened. And realize the consequences of living in a failed state where nothing works if this thing is to spread.
Nigerians had a choice to vote responsible leaders who have have the love of the country at heart and not their pockets, but they voted the drug barons,419 scammers, ritualists to take charge of the affairs of the nation.
Nigerians don't wish the disease to spread. But with the current situation in all these countries mentioned and more, medical visitors or visitors in general are not allowed to enter. Their healthcare facilities are already over laboured by their own citizens. So should any of the corrupt politicians need medical care at the current world situation, they'll have to seek treatment in their home country.
Anyways, some of the hospitals in Nigeria can measure up to standard, but likely private ones.

You are actually correct. Unless the markets are also shut, every other measure would be in vain. More people patronize markets than schools and even banks. They should announce to the public the date the shutdown would commence so that people would prepare. Nigerians are too lackadaisical about this virus and it is annoying. I was at the Lagos airport this morning to catch a flight and you need to see how people were behaving as if it is still business as usual. That experience was terrifying to me I swear. I have never been more scared of being in a crowd. I pity this country with the way we are treating this matter. Kudos to Obiano for taking this bold step but more needs to be done. This battle against COVID-19 will be a long one that will have a lot casualties.
Even countries facing the pandemic are not shutting down markets, pharmacy outlets and gas stations. You need to realize that visiting shops is voluntary, and one can stay back if he/she want. But doing that for schools will lead to failure of the the student.

It is people that will limit the way to go to shops and this will reduce the crowds there.

At the high rate of spread of this disease, aggressive measures need to be taken.

Whatever the true story may be, this is a wake-up call for all states to urgently have isolation centres in place. Also, protective wears should be readily available. Remember that the healthcare workers have families and friends, and in any suspected case, people will first go for safety. However, having structures on ground will boost confidence of the workers.

This topic,if not any other thing, has shown us the state of Enugu isolation centre. That alone can discourage people to visit the center.
