Mmm What can we do for him? Humans especially Africans are polygamous in nature. Glad he sucked it up and protected his marriage until death. That's the 'African way' |
Simply because these cry babies can't live a day without coming to nairaland to whine about feminists. it seems there's an orgasmic association between that word and some people's lives on this forum. If they are not creating threads about it, they are derailing threads into it. BABE3: |
pickabeau1:i don't even understand what joke you're making. God the mother doesn't sound funny. |
Seriously I would not recommend someone I've never met to a relative of mine but if marriage were to be compulsorily between two folks who've never met before and I had to choose from on here, he would be my first choice. coogar: |
pickabeau1:they wish you goodluck. Why are you bothered about them? There will always be disagreeing factions on the issue even among feminist and as always when one side has enough supporters, they will establish their parallel arm of the association and everyone will cohabit peacefully side by side. We have Christians who believe in trinity,Infant baptism,Adult baptism,Confession to man,Extreme unctions etc. And so on and so forth. They all cohabit side by side and God hasn't destroyed any of them for going about worshiping him in a different way. You need to chill mehn. |
I'm not naming names o but the hypocrisy on this section is nauseating sha. That the culprits can't see it for themselves is a perfect example of egocentrism;nothing is wrong as long as I'm the one doing it. Hehehehe I know a certain lady who'd type something in support of a guy in a given scenario and any lady who countered her is a witch and evil and women would be their own worst enemies because of that single incident and bla bla bla. ![]() Why can't you guys do the same thing you recommend others to do? Support francistony even if he's calling the guys out or sit down and learn from him as he's a perfect husband material. Orisirishi. |
pickabeau1:lol they probably wish you the best of luck too |
This is like pouring water on stone. ![]() Chai. So you agreed that God is not a man yet won't see how the HE pronoun is a product of the psychological effect of the role he plays in Christianity? If Christ didn't mean 'God the father' as a symbolism (psychological attribute) of who he is to us, did he then mean it as physical attribute of God as per "God with male sexual organs"? Of course It is not physical. It is psychological (mind n spiritual) yes spirituality is a construct of the psyche: things aren't matter but affect us pickabeau1: |
njokusboy:Pls don't be basic. If the white men didn't come, which God would you be worshipping? Amadioha? Chukwuegu? Wouldn't you make sacrifices to Ani the female goddess to bless your farm and make your wife/wives fertile? Wouldn't you make sacrifices to oshimili the goddess of the river to grant you safe pass any time you traveled on a boat? You would be worshipping the gods your people worshipped. The gods you'd have been told to be what they were by your ancestors. Who was inspiring them then? Or you mean they didn't have the Holy Spirit until the whites came and gave them the Holy Spirit inspired version of who God really is? Don't dig a pit for yourself ![]() You're really saying the black race didn't have a Holy Spirit inspired version of God until the whites came and handed it us. Racismmmmmm....... Now you've dumped for them for Jesus because you've been taught to. Everything you know about the nature of God you were taught. And all of it human invention. I can't get myself to believe there's no God. The wonders of the universe are too magnificent to be dismissed as happening by chance. I am Christian because I was born into it and I like to refer to God as a HE because I've become used to relating to him as a father. (A different place, a different time and it may not have been the case for me. Same as you even if you're not honest enough to admit that.) But it would be shallow to not recognize that the various versions of God is just our humanity trying to make sense of something bigger than our brains are capable of. |
pickabeau1:there's no conspiracy. Read my post to francistony. The thing is that it just happens that when we have to make human characterization of abstract figure that we haven't seen, we use the ideas best suited to us and the role that figure is going to play in our lives. It is that simple. Igbos have female deities. And each is ascribed a feminine gender because of the role it plays in the life of the people who worship it. For example We have ani, goddess of the land/soil. She's responsible for fertility(which include soil fertility and female fertility; ignorantly, male fertility wasn't recognized as something to be worried about then) The man was the father of the family so chukwu was ascribed the male gender because his role was the father of the other gods. If the gods were going to have a father, it would make most sense in our human mind to make him a HE because men were fathers. It is only a natural thought progression. Human beings create their own idea of God that's why we have so many varying versions of who God really is all over the world. It doesn't make it necessarily true but it helps us be grounded in our relationship with the idea or who we want God to be in our lives. |
pickabeau1:now we are getting somewhere. God became 'white' because the white men had the upper hand. They had guns. They brought the religion. God was who they told us he was. Whether we liked it or not. Same way he became a 'he' because those who made the decisions that mattered about him where men. He became a HE because men wanted him to be. Relate? With this, we needn't argue any further. |
FrancisTony:they most likely didn't have that intention. If all the men they had seen all their lives were white, coming to Africa to teach Christianity with picture bibles that had images of men meant they had to produce images they were familiar with. Which was that of white men. They may not have had racist intentions but denying that it had racist effects on black people is denying the obvious. |
pickabeau1:God is not racist. But is the presentation made of God by the first white missionaries who brought Christianity to us a racist one? Maybe not intentional but yes it is racist. Pictures of White Jesus. Pictures of White apostles. Pictures of White everyone-that-mattered. If it didn't affect the psych of the black man, why are black scholars all over the place trying to prove that Jesus was black? They know what happened there. Whether he was really black is topic for another day. But I've seen a m0r0n once in while say that even God chose to come back to earth in the form of a white man because of one bla bla bla reason. You don't think any of the early representation of God as white man had something to do with that? It is the same way the representation of God as HE induces the occasionally m0ron to say God is a man and that makes the male gender superior. Deny it all you want, it is basic psychology at work here. |
bukatyne:It is the same reason why blacks are all over the place trying to trace Jesus' genealogy to his black roots. The whites won't see the racism it subtly encourages but blacks know it all too well. That's the same way guys won't see the chauvinism the HE pronoun encourages. But we see it. I'm not for changing any of that because the mess of rewriting history, redefining religions and confusing children may not be worth any of that. But let's not act like these people don't know what they are taking about. |
Ok you don't see the relationship. Now that's better. I didn't expect you to see it. So I won't hold it against you: It is the same way a white man won't see the relationship between racism and the Christian God/Jesus being a white bearded old man/white young handsome fellow respectively but blacks can see it. Our points of view are not the same. pickabeau1: |
SAMBARRY:God is an old white man white with grey hair and beard and deep voice .

FrancisTony:Don't mind coogar ![]() |
your problem is that you're the first to pounce on my post to try to argue against it when actually it was meant more for coogar and his line of argument. (Basically that God is a man) You need to slow down and stop misunderstanding posts not meant for you. I told you before that I don't agree he should be referred to as a she or it because of the centuries it would probably take to recondition the Christian mind that he now plays a different role than that of a father which we assigned to him. That would be like redefining the religion all together. So i agree it would be confusing and problematic. But I agree it gives it gives male chauvinists leg to stand on when trying to present the female gender as inferior. I saw their reason for that. And I see it being displayed on this thread and many like it too.. Except you're saying you don't agree that it has that effect on(which I would not be surprised if you say you don't see it) I don't even know what you're on about again. pickabeau1: |
Chillisauce:I want ![]() |
It is lost on you. If you actually believe God is not man, face coogar and argue against his argument instead of being unclear about where you stand. Is he a man or genderless? You couldn't even be straightforward with that answer. Una doo. ![]() pickabeau1: |
coogar:ok |
You do realize that 'God is not man' in that scripture means God is not human (just a way of saying humans lie but God doesn't) If not it would imply that only men lie. Every part of the bible gives the distinct message that God is not human and I'm here reading arguments about god's gender when I thought I've seen it all. You're up in stitches too. All of you are. pickabeau1: |
pickabeau1:So God is a man. Or a he's a sexless 'he' gender? I give up ![]() |
SAMBARRY:sometimes I don't even know when you're serious or joking ![]() |
Do you agree that God is genderless? Forget about who calls the shot in each individual marriage. Your marriage your style. Everybody and their style. (Another pointless argument in my opinion.) You're obviously not reading the arguments of those you're rooting for. Lol. Nothing I won't read on nairaland. Even the fact that God is refreshing to as a he is a pivot point for some arguments I'm reading here. You should be laughing at that. pickabeau1: |
pickabeau1:even though I don't necessarily agree( too late in my opinion), I can obviously see why. If refering to God as a he makes nairaland dudes and those like them interpret it to mean the female gender is inferior, is that any surprise they would say so? A simple understanding of the reasons why God began to be called a man in the first place should be enough to eliminate childish arguments about the gender of God. |
You guys on nairaland have taken your chauvinism a little too far. Pause and breathe. gods in many religions were variably male and female depending on what role each one played in the lore of the people who worshipped it. The 'gender' of God is man made. Just like the various religions that we make up to associate and worship him with. And yes I said him. Why? Because that's what I've been taught and it is become a habit. Just like most of you were taught and those who taught you were taught until it goes back to the first persons who ascribed the gender to him. |
He is neither male nor female. Gender is a biological characteristic and God is not a biological being. God is spirit (John 4:24) and spirit does not have flesh and blood (Luke 24:39).Is it too hard to understand that socially God is referred to as a man because traditionally men were in the lead when the bible was written and it doesn't require genius level of intelligence to know that the authors of the bible would be more inclined to call him a man because of their social leanings then? There are things that don't need to be argued amongst adults.mtchew. |
naijababe:na chillisauce o. No be me. |
Harsh but true Floodgater: |
Chillisauce:well I guess so. |
nonjebose:I'm telling you. Corruption will go nowhere if we don't begin to hold these people accountable instead of expecting the government to do everything for us. |
