Well let's agree to disagree.
bukatyne:
I know that childhood is filled with drama and hyperactivity and I will agree with you that about 70% of 'witchcraft' cases are just that

However, There are Some children who are witches sadly.

If a person can be possessed with the power of God, it is only natural that Some people will be possessed with the power of the devil.

As God seeks to give life, the devil seeks to take it.

A studeby in my secondary school was expelled because of witchcraft.

And believe me, accusing someone of witchcraft was a terrible offence in my school.

I know that the supposed innocence of children is sometimes deceptive however, underneath the surface, Some stuffs happen.

Hmm.
I don't want to go into all these, but I kinda took it for granted that you of all people would know what child psychology entails, their over active imaginations, night terrors and sometimes sleep disorders (too many to type here) that they interprete as witch gathering because of mind conditioning by over zealous prayer warriors.

I'm not saying there aren't bad people who practice juju things or black Magic (if it works is a topic for another day by itself) but to think a child is into witchcraft is something I can't believe.

These beliefs contribute to child abuse, torture and even killing in the name of trying to exorcise the kids of their demons. SMH

Pls help protect the Nigerian nay african child's future by kicking against anyone or anything that would seek to harm them. Child-witch theory is one such harmful thing.

It stunts their creativity and discourages eccentrics because any child who's weird or different becomes labeled a witch.

I have an uncle who married a village girl, brushed her up,took her abroad and somehow he found himself doing d dishes n homechores after she started earning some income. She even demanded payment b4 he gets his conjugal rights every night.Today, they are divorced.Hav anoda aunt who her hubby took abroad too n today, they are divorced. Finally,I remember a humble but rich female colleague of mine, who refused to buy a car because she was still single n over 30. She persevered for a while, begged for lifts and used public transport till her humility paid.A man noticed it,liked her and married her.She later bought one of the most sophisticated Jeeps I have ever seen after marriage,of course with the love and consent of her hubby. what I can coin from these 3 experiences of mine is that a lot of foreign culture has corrupted our once-humble women.Only a few still keep their heads low after getting richer than their hubbies, very very few.
I lost a few brain cells reading this poo. So punishing oneself taking public transport, begging for lifts everywhere when you can afford a car is a sign of humility? And that's something that a man with functioning brain finds attractive?

Who did this to you people? angry angry angry

Peckham will most certainly fair better If you were to do a like for like comparison on crime indices
Maybe.
But those other places like Brooklyn isn't always a concern to us because many Nigerians don't die there like they do in Peckham.
That's what some people need to understand before getting hurt over the hype or exaggeration of the crime in Peckham.
I know if one is born or raised there, the natural urge to defend your place always kicks in when people bash it.
We all know there's some exaggeration in between all of that.

Kini big deal?

You can compare it to yonkers or brooklyn

How many times do you hear news of violence? Even at that, it's nothing compared to the violence in America.

I can't even believe anyone is comparing the two.
Are you comparing number of violent incidences in Peckham (a city) to the whole of America a conglomerate of cities? Actually the better half of a continent?

How will the number be close?

Pick one city in America and compare to Peckham then maybe that could work.

Anyway I don't think anyone can say there are no ghettos in America but how many times do we hear news of Nigerians killed in America as a result of hood related violence?
You've to understand why that of Peckham seems sensational.
The peculiarity of their cases make them stand out.

If they are relatively safe, why always in the news for violence?
50calibre:
Nah! You're wrong again.

There are no America-type ghettos in the UK, these are relatively safe neighbourhoods where you can ride your bike or walk around at anytime with no disturbance whatsoever.

Those who become casualties like this young man are mostly the young ones who get themselves caught up in some nasty stuff. Though there are occasional crimes here and there, but nothing on the scale of America, not even close.

This isn't America where there are more guns than people, where any lunatic can walk into a store and purchase an automatic rifle like a pair of sneakers & then walk into somewhere and waste people with it.

The UK had zero tolerance for crime, just the mere info that you possess a gun, will get the authorities descending on you so fast, you'd actually think you're Bin Laden.

What's with all this he might get physical, so? Is it not better she knows now than years later like she is now discovering about his verbally abusive traits. For how long will she walk on egg shell not to bring out his fists if trully he can get physical as he surely will exhibit it. I think her fight back will only make him become physical with the abuse only if he is physically abusive, in which case it wont be Op's fault. I dont subscribe to letting people change you for bad, but if your continous tolerance of them can harm you, then find a way to protect yourself. It does not mean you changed unless you decide to carry your protective actions to every other person with a similarity or perceived similarity with the last one who harmed you. Before we rush to say dont change, the op is helplessly changing to a physically abusive one. Yet if you say keep quiet she might still change to someone with no emotions, neither feeling pain or joy because the fact is, it is getting to her and must be let out one way otherwise bottling up will be more disastrous. Those who efficiently keep silent are good at it and they dont let hurt get to them in the first place so that there's no need for letting out, also one's personality is a factor too. I used it alot in the past. The one that readily come to mind was with a roomy, i would watch her pour her insults, then when she was about to stop, i would say something that would trigger her and she would continue again. When people heard her voice, they would come to settle quarrel, and as she was explaining to them or rather painting me bad, i would be quiet and smiling inside. They would go only to come back and meet thesame scenario wondering if she was not really mad. I got my pound of flesh from watching her voice go from high to faint, making herself look mad in public plus she was too dramatic a sight to resist. At the end of the whole drama, she came to me and said, "you are strong" that was then. Op may not remember exactly the first time or things that lead to this but from what she said, the husband discovered a way to really hit her something he didnt know when courting. He may have done the first as a mistake or play or trial, only to continue like a small naughty boy after seeing the effect on Op. Oya nicequeen, find a way or something that will really hurt him back to drive home your point. Explore options till you get it but decide you will stop after your aim is achieved.

SMH.
Well thank God you're healthy and your baby is healthy too.

I know of three women who have died in mom's hospital because they refused the option of CS so that people won't laugh at them or say they are not real women who cannot push.
What hurts me most in those cases is that the child normally dies too from distress.
Some strangulate to death because the umbilical cord tied itself around their neck and mom insist on pushing, thereby killing her own baby by herself just to impress the world.
On painful case had the baby choking on the mother's fluids and ingesting his own poop because she had been in labor for 3days yet refused CS while calling on God to help her deliver like the 'Hebrew women' angry. It is not funny.
Of course he was born still.

You're both fit. baby and mother. That's all that matters.
Don't even respond to her taunts or show any signs that it affects you.

Juzzybabe:
Humm...this post touch me. I give birth a week ago to my first baby, and CS was never an option I ever dreamt of, but after I had labour for hours,I had to be scanned n it showed my water was insufficient to have a natural birth. The doctors told me CS was my way out. I had to accept to save my life and my baby. Still nursing the cut and pains my mother in law look me in the eyes and insulted me that I was too lazy to push my baby out. She has been telling people and even to my face that I wasted her son's money on CS all because I couldn't push. she said I didn't labour. I am hurt by her words but I pray God have mercy on her.

Na women on women things.

Some just can't rest if they don't find something to feel better about.
No man will mock a woman for having a child through CS. The only men I've seen do it are those conditioned to think there's something wrong with it by.....wait for it..... Women.

And let's not even make it a general women's thing. It is a nigerian women's thing (not sure about other african countries).

Sisters be walking around with bags of low self esteem making their shoulders droop and only putting other women down can make them feel good about themselves.
