In this modern age? Sorry my MiL isn’t ancient and she witnessed it. But that’s not the point. I agree that we do not generally endorse such levels of violence to non-believers. I think I already stated that in my first post. But the level of brainwashing (for some) is on the same level such that if a misguided MOG were to capitalize on that and encourage them to kill, they would. That’s my point. And that’s why I’m wary of religious goody two shoes. I didn’t say anything more than that. It’s on you how you choose to understand it. Whoever those witches are, if they are committed to their practice in a strict deeply religious sense, then they too are included in my generalizations. They are not exempt. People wey carry religion for head (be it Islam, Christianity, traditional, “Witchery” , Buddhism etc) are dangerous people. Why? Because their minds and brains do not belong to them. They are just blank slates waiting to be used by the next charismatic leader who comes across them. Be safe out there Acidosis: Christians do not gather to burn witches in this modern age. But talking about whatever happened decades of centuries ago, you'll agree with me that even the most developed nations had this sort of issues.
And before you complain about the current realities where Christians gather to pray against enemies and witches, have you ever approached these witches to also know what they're up to?
It is only fair to know what these witches also do in their worship grounds before you criticize what christians pray about or against. |

Realists: The Authority needs to sanitize the general public on Blasphemy laws in Nigeria. For you just can't cause an action & expect not to see reaction, to what gain is to her by insulting the Prophet of Allah ?. Those saying there is freedom of speech in insulting and disturbing the public peace, should know there are people ready to die for their faith too. what’s your point? That we should know there are people ready to kill for their religion and we should be okay with that? How about the people learn that the law of the land will not tolerate such barbarism? |

GloriousGbola: the murder of deborah is not about violence against women. it is about religious intolerance. So stop trying to tie this to your favorite whipping post of female emancipation. The way you said what I was thinking before I even said it. |

In your mind now you’re more Christian than I am. It’s giving Pharisee What happened to this girl happened because of religion not her gender. Men too have been subjected to the same ordeal for being “blasphemous“ so I wonder why you expect it to become a feminist fight or do you just say anything? Acidosis: You're confused! A humanist calling out "hypocrites" of her own religion? What religion? Humanism? Someone who calls the Christian's God "their god" is a Christian? Pleeasse, let the criticism cut across board.
This thread is NOT about what a Jew, a Christian, Buddhist, or a traditionalist did right or wrong. Everybody is calling out the barbarism in Islam and, in particular, the northern version of Islam, but so called women rights advocates couldn't summon the courage to call for justice for Deborah.
One would think that Deborah, being a woman, would provoke the same level of anger we see when girls get raped. But nah, the deep resentment for Christians will always manifest. To them, it's two religions against each. The resentment would probably be because Deborah pays tithe. Abi e dey ever pass tithe?
There's no log in my eyes. If there's any at all, it is nobody's business. It's my eyes NOT yours. I won't go removing or burning another man's eyes. |

Acidosis: Please leave religion out of this. ISLAM is not the only religion on earth. Direct your speech to ISLAM. In this case yes Islam is the culprit and the focus. There’s no mistaking the violence that can happen by the mere mention of apostasy. But I think we already all kinda know this and they are not pretending to be tolerant. Even those who say it’s a religion of peace know that the peace they talk about is only when their belief is not challenged. But don’t be confused about the brainwashing that is obtainable among other religions. My MIL was gisting me one time how they (not her personally but the village folks) killed a “witch” in her village and seeing the shock on my face proceeded to tell me that it’s in the Bible to suffer not a witch to live. Therefore they felt no sympathy for the so called witch that was killed (by children of god). And who’s a witch? Someone who worships traditional gods right? Therefore someone who does small god worship and doesn’t follow Jesus Christ deserved to die according to their logic then. Stop being defensive. The inability to accept criticism of your faith makes you no different from those who would kill to defend their faith. Because to them, nothing can be wrong about it. |

I’m deathly scared of anyone who carries religion on there head like gala. There’s no brain left behind in their skull . There’s no reasoning with them. That’s the power of brainwashing. And this goes for most religions. Thankfully some other religious folks are not as fanatical as these ones. But if their teachings did encourage them to kill anyone that’s not like them, trust me they would. |

And you somehow don’t know hundreds of millions of people with fathers who are deplorable? texasux: Confirmation bias!
How easy is it to cherry pick a handful of cases where the children of single mothers turned out to be recognized in the society. Now, tell us about the thousands of homicides and felonies committed by children without a father. Have you checked the prison records to know the proportion of prisoners who were raised in fatherless home?
It's quite disingenuous to use these few examples to drive home your support for single mothers. For each case you mentioned, there are also hundreds of much more successful individuals who were raised in a complete home with a father. |

truthsayer009: Thank you, that amount you posted is really a lot. Compared to the amount Uyi posted, perhaps only because it is in Nigeria. I think in Nigeria even if they want to be cheap they should at least make it $1-2k dollars. That’s like 500k - 1 mil considering that they do charge the TTC parents many millions of naira for donor eggs. The least they can do is pay those girls at 500k. If they are really giving 100k, they are very greedy. |
Family › Re: My Wife Sold Her "Eggs " And Bought A Phone With It. by cococandy(f): 12:03pm On May 10, 2022 |
100k is absolutely laughable. They shouldn’t even offer that for sperm much less an egg or eggs They probably look for naive girls to deceive and pay them change for that procedure then charge the TTC parents millions for it. Karleb: I remember when I advised a friend against doing this.
The procedure isn't always smooth and if the doctor ends up leaving you with more complications, that's your headache.
They also take a lot of eggs at a time, not one.
The lady was offered 100k.
I will not even sell a drop of my sperm for 100k. |

JovialJune: I'm not in the healthcare industry, I have a relative that went through the process in desperate need of money, though not in Nigeria, she regrets doing the procedure till today because of the side effect. There’s belief it’s increases risk of breast cancer because of the extra injections of estrogen which is typically more than the woman would produce on her own |

truthsayer009: Interesting.
Not trying to meddle into women's business but errm, what's the range of the amount. Not the exact amount, just give me a possible range of figures. Must be different in other places I guess but it should surely pay more than the amount needed for a mere phone.

Right dominique: Most women are done with childbirth before they turn 40 so it makes sense for them to sell their eggs to put themselves through school or invest in a business. But a phone that can get stolen or destroyed within seconds? Very irresponsible decision especially for a parent. |
Family › Re: My Wife Sold Her "Eggs " And Bought A Phone With It. by cococandy(f): 9:28am On May 10, 2022 |
My colleague did hers to pay for part of her nursing school and she donated 11 eggs at once. That’s one year of reproduction off her timeline. But at least she did it for something meaningful. Not phone that will become obsolete in a few months. dominique: Eggs actually finishes, every female is born with a certain amount eggs in their ovaries. By the time she reaches puberty, she will have 350-400 eggs in her ovaries one of which will be released monthly at every reproductive cycle. By the time all the eggs are exhausted (through menstruation and childbirth), menopause sets in.
If a woman goes to sell her eggs, she's risking early menopause because only one egg will not be harvested. The fertility clinic will want to harvest at least 5 eggs to boost the chances of conception. That will shorten her reproductive lifespan by at least 5 months. Imagine doing that 5 times or more, don't be surprised to see women hitting menopause in their 30s in the years to come. |

:l Saintmary: cococandy, you're kidding, right? Nope. I’m not. Why would I be kidding? Selling eggs for a phone? First of all the process isn’t as easy as when men go donate sperm. It’s more tedious. Requires multiple fertility treatments and hormones so that the woman can produce multiple eggs during one cycle. The extraction is painful as well. Plus the hormones have side effects. Why someone would go through all that for something minuscule as a phone is what I’m not understanding. That’s why I said I’ve never seen that before. I know one lady who did hers to get $10k to pay some part of her nursing school tuition. That makes sense. But for phone is just weird |
