I was going to say that.
But I didn't want to sound like I'm not happy for her.
Nigerian celebrities and their fake designers.
I was just at chanel boutique yesterday.
Swallowing saliva at all their classy but very expensive stuff.
Oh mehn.

Anyway let this 'chanel' designer use the poor girl to shine. I'm pretty sure she's not aware that it's not authentic.

PS chanel has other designers besides Karl Lagerfeld. He's just one of their most celebrated designers.

FYI he has his own line which comprises of good quality items that are affordable.
So if you want something designed by him but not ready to spend 4-10 thousands dollars or more on one item, you can go his line and pick something for about $200-300. Win win

Fresca:
Modified: People are stupid oo, I'm happy for this woman's success. If you like mention me up and down, I have time... it's not fuvking Chanel. See all the c c all over it like its one cheap something grin grin I just dey Laff! Who the hell is tiana? Lol just because some useless "fake designer tailor" that went and sewed cloth and put cc all over, it's Chanel?? Lmao.... only Chanel designer I know is Karl Lagerfield. U pipu can Goan kill yourselves

Which yeye Chanel? People are naive oo. Do you know how much is anything Chanel? Doesn't even look like real Chanel, that brand is too classy, this looks like child's play jacket.. maybe Aba made version

LordAdam16:
The more shameful part is that it is even a debate in the first place.

In this day and age, if a person above the age of 15 and has passed Junior High (JSS) is arguing against gender equality (usually because they have unashamedly failed to grasp the faintest idea of what it is about), it paints a rather grim picture of how far off the mark we are as a nation.

It's not like it was ever that encouraging, but at least girl child education isn't a taboo topic anymore, and one would reasonably expect that normal, functioning adults know a teeny-weeny bit about gender equality, it's relationship with girl child education, and why the world's future rests on progressive stances like gender equality and equity, resource sustainability, increased tolerance et cetera.

Many of the comments I see here are statements I'd expect from ret*rded folks, unambitious dropouts, religious f*cktards, men who have failed in life (and need to mudsling others to feel better about themselves), or privileged egoists. But you'd be surprised about the standings of many of the commenters on here and how they are a bitter reflection of the society.

Just walk into any random eatery and bring this issue up, you'd be surprised about the similarity between the contributions you receive and the comments you read here.

And it is particularly nauseating that a forum run by a self-acclaimed progressive atheist would actually promote a non-religious position that would never stand in any rigorous academic debate in any of the world's top 10,000 institutions for discussion, never mind the ridiculous balderdash that made up the OP.

Am I disappointed by the comments I read on here, absolutely not, many Nigerians redefine stupidity with their opinions that are about as factual as the Santa Claus myth. But then, did I expect to see the kind of promotion this thread gets, not likely. I read through this thread in one of my recent forays in the Romance section, and decided against commenting because I deemed it a perfect avenue for misfits to throw a pity party about how the world is conspiring against them. And some d*rtbag mod decided it was a party deserving of prime-time.

Unbelievable!

More sense.
Y'all keep schooling the ignorance. Thanks
Emdeejay:
Someone said that many women are sad because the OP sold women out. I am sad because the OP did not realize what gender equality entails. I'll tell you what it means to me. There was a time when women could not vote because they are considered substandard to men. Currently, with every $1 a man earns, a woman earn 83 cents while having the same qualifications. It is even worst in the medical field because the field comprises of the "big boys" and as a woman, it is hard to fit this. Information is rarely shared with me and I have to be assertive for my voice to be heard. Some women are not selected into certain residency because they might want to start a family and therefore at a disadvantage. And as a person in the medical field, I'll enlighten you about boobs. Breasts are mainly made up of fat and not muscle. If you lose weight (i.e fat), your breast will sag. As you age, the breast sags because the structural ligament loses its elasticity leading to sagging. Someone touching your breast doesn't make it sag. And sex does not make vagina loose. I'll go into that but I'm sure you're well read and can read scientific journals yourself. Gender equality is not how often I can have sex with someone, it is about being treated as an intelligent human that can achieve anything if I try.
Romance › Re: Man and Woman are different.. Nothing like Gender Equality by cococandy(f): 9:27am On Jun 20, 2017
There's hope. I was afraid so much senselessness was taking over.
Imagine stupid talk about sagging boobs and vagina on such an important topic
Deeldorado:
It's not a debate of whether it will be possible or not but an advocacy to improve the prospects of women. The gender gap is too wide ... pay gap at work, the constraints they face in getting employment and growing on the job. The work women do at home is not calculated as part of GDP but if a nanny does it, it is calculated as part of GDP thereby underestimating women contributions to the national economy.

Why for example have we taken it for granted that it is the woman that has to give up her dreams for other siblings if something goes wrong in the family? Why for example, does a woman have to give up her aspirations or 'cut it down a bit' once she is married? Can't we find a balance that allows both a man and a woman to succeed with their aspirations? By doing this, we place a glass ceiling on women and decapitate their capacity to aspire and achieve their aspirations.

The idea is that making progress in achieving equity in economic participation and opportunity and political empowerment will not benefit women alone but will benefit families, communities and the whole World. Women empowerment, for example, is at the heart of the global fight against poverty and inequality.

It is unfair and runs against nature to deny women the opportunity to succeed as well as men just because they go on maternity leave or because of what your religion says or because you want to be 'the man' or just because of things they are not directly responsible for.

We know that we may not be able to achieve gender equality in a practical sense completely because of traditions, cultures and historical legacies, but we can unleash the power of women for development by doing as much as we can to close up the gap.

The argument of whether it's possible or not may not hold water because a lot of countries are already closing this gap - for example, Scandinavian countries and even South Africa, back home.

gokuu:
What a dumb and uninformed post!

First, the writer totally fails to understand the Feminist argument. Women have never claimed to be exactly the same as men; they have simply asked to be treated with the same level of dignity and respect that men are generally treated with. They want to have an equal opportunity to reach their aspirations just as much as everyone.

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the "sagged breasts" argument.

Second, what does capacity to "impregnate" have to do with equal opportunity in the workplace, or wherever?

I am particularly shocked that this post is coming from someone with the "f" suffix behind their name, who is supposed to be able to relate more to the female experience in patriarchal Nigeria.

Anyways, as Madeleine Albright would say; "there's a special place in hell for women who do not support other women"

porozhniy:
I don't think the op set out to argue against equal opportunities for women.
The crux of her argument is; equal opportunities doesn't always amount to equal outcomes.
She simply uses the difference in the sexuality of both gender to drive home her point.

Men generally will not wife a perceived LovePeddler, that is why women tend to lie about their body count & virginity.
On the other hand, a man's sexual past doesn't seem to bother a lot of women as long as he is a resourced male.

That's why she wants young women to make better choices, cos the odds seems against them in the sexual market.

You have actually spoken well and I do agree with the more important parts of your post like communication to educate the men, effects of social influence and abolition of bride price.

For that I'll ignore your other points the were out of line like the personal attack on me and your baseless generalizing about what women want/prefer.

When I said 'obsessed with headship' , it's not the same as 'talking about headship'. Two different things.
Bye.
x240:
you are one of the reasons many Nigerians don't own up to mistakes.

It takes someone intelligent to make a mistake and try and correct it but it shows how shitty another person is who can't help but find a way to judge people and rain invectives.

Your type just come online and make mouth and frost. See you threatening fire and brimstone over something you could school him over gently. Asking for headship ain't about insecurity. It's a result of what the environment, society, culture and religion dictate. He who pays the piper, dictates the tune. More reason we need to abolish all these bride price, women not contributing to the family resources thing so they can effectively have a say and get marriages to be a team efforr not the he is the man and needs to do the all in all.

No one is holding brief for him but both men and women are actually guilty of pushing such narratives that the man is always right and the woman with her idiosyncrasies cannot be trusted with decisions. As much as that is not true the many examples of women letting their emotions cloud their judgment fuels such belief systems. It is a known fact that most ladies are risk averse and would prefer the "man" make the decisions.

It would take a lot of time to change the perception but we can all do more by training our boys that yeah they have advantages in some areas but the opposite sex also have skills that can be used in achieving greter results in a home. That's more pragmatic than all you i have not seen a man born or whatever you keep spitting up there. The problem of marriages that we have currently stems from the advices and views of you extreme lefties and righties in both the male and female camp who believe in absolutes and don't see things the way they are.

Young single ladies should take the more pragmatic approcach. You can't remove decades of nuture and environmental stereotypes out of him in a day. Else you would just be jumping from one guy to the other. Men aren't robots that you can't speak to and mold their outlook towards life.
Family › Re: Nigerian Man Who Intentionally Shuts Down Wife In Front Of Their Kids Changes by cococandy(f): 12:25am On Jun 18, 2017
The man that will disrespect me in the presence of my kids has not been born. After the first time (if he's foolish enough to try it), it won't happen again.

My advice ladies: know who you marry. If he's obsessed with 'headship' during the dating stage, that's a big red flag.

Only insecure people need to put others down especially in the presence of others in other to elevate themselves.
If a man has to be taught that himself and his wife are partners and should always present a United front to their kids, he's not ready to marry.

This is just a preamble of how he will unleash his wrestling/boxing skills to administer 50kg worth of punches on your face in conjunction with "smack down" when he finally pays your bride price. These are the salient qualities of potential wife beaters yet you choose to stick to such a man probably because your source of livelihood depends on him. (it's very obvious). I mean do you think marriage is a "magician" that changes people completely from beasts to angels , especially a man that is already showing you his true colour even without legal ownership of you?

This is what to expect when you're too dependent on a man for financial security and your self esteem is thrown to the wind. I hope this will serve as a source of lesson to many Nairaland ladies who are always opening irrelevant threads to express their love for already made men and disgust for broke guys. They need to see how some of these men treat these "long throat" ladies like poo before/after marriage. The way you present yourself to a man determines how he will respect you.

Since you can see the signs of dangers with your korokoro eyes yet you're bent on getting married to this same person next month. That was how my female friend despise all advice and got married to a man with similar character with the OP's fiance, but now she has returned back to her parents home due to assault.

Sha don't later come and open an irrelevant thread asking us ways to cope with your temperamental husband because we won't even let it creep to the front page.

Anyway, I wish you an abusive marriage life in advance with your potential wife beater
