Just like you... I don't ask and don't ask me either cause at the end of the show na you wey them ask the invigilator go send out and the most painful aspect of it is that you still have something upstairs to download and the one that asked you whom has nothing to write ends up being pardoned.
Lol, that's true. Anyway people who want to cheat never sit at the front. So I'm never scared of anyone asking me or trying to copy me.

I had a dream of war too sometime last week. Can't remember any of the details though but I was so scared when I woke up. Forgot about it though if not for your topic that triggered my memory. It was a civil war.

It is well!

My category is not here.. I don't ask and I don't tell. Always in the top 5 to enter the exam hall and among the last 15 to leave.

If I see you cheating....well its none of my business. If you disturb me during exams, I will raise my hand so the invigilator will change my seat. Copying me is impossible because I am always at either edge of the table and my exam booklet is lopsided to enable me write better.

a woman/man who does not have backing for marriage can be affected by some situations, say she/he got thrown out without a dime.
a man/woman without prenups can be affected by some situation, say a man/woman marries someone wealthy just to acquire wealth, makes the marriage unbearable within a year, so as to get a divorce inorder to get 50% of wealth never worked for.

not all prenups renders one partner in a marriage "without cash"
it may include stipulates such as
*if the marriage breaks in less than a year both partners go with what they acquired on their own.
*if the marriage last more than 10 year wealth is shared among both parties in percentage(not necessary 50/50) irrespective of who acquired what.
*on divorce each partner takes what he/she has acquired and share what they both acquired
*...........

what am trying to say is not advice anyone to do prenup, but to say

if you don't trust a man enough or for reasons of unforeseen occurrences decide to get legal backing

then anyone shouldn't be criticsize for reasons of unforeseen occurrences should that person decide to do prenups
I don't really understand your write up but there's nowhere in my post I said men/women shouldn't do prenups.

Stories that touch... What about all the widows that are now landlady..? How many of their brother in law are they sleeping with..?

Let's call a spade a spade... This is Nigeria.. Anything can happen.. The laws sometimes cannot be enforced.. No matter how many legal documents one presents..
That's what we are saying na. Widows that are landladies most often were married under the ACT. The law is always enforced if you have a good lawyer unless you are afraid they will use African juju on you so you leave it in the hands of God.

Yes this is Nigeria and Nigerians dont joke with money or landed properties.

yes , he secures in his own name , thats why I said he knows what to sign . some sign prenuptial agreement before going into marriage. it may leave the woman with nothing .if the sole aim is taking over his property it may never work.
Pre-nups are not common in Nigeria. Most men just go to court so as to be done with the marriage process not necessarily because they are interested but that one no consign me.

All this taking over his property that you people are shouting, do you know how many projects both husband and wife do together? wife brings some percentage while husband brings some but at the end of the day, its bought in husband's name and the woman doesn't mind anyway because they are one and she doesn't know of anything that could go wrong.

Then something unforseen happens and the village people come knocking.

yea , I know the next of kin comes in where there is no spouse ... but for a man to put the name of his siblings as next of kin . you should know what that means.
Not true. Most men do it out of ignorance. They feel their brothers will be in a better position to take care of their families once they are gone not knowing the brothers are wolves in sheep clothing. Before the man has even rested in peace they are already asking the woman to go to bed with them or else they won't give them anything. The women sometimes give in just so their kids can eat and keep going to school. After all what is sex compared to the well being and happiness of her kids. But the kids will never know what the mother has sacrificed for them.

do you really know how the average Nigerian man goes about acquiring and securing his properties as it concerns his family ?
The average Nigerian man secures properties in HIS OWN name. These days, I ensure every property my father buys is either in my name or my siblings names. Not even my mother's name.

I love my aunties and uncles oo, but you only know someone's real character when money is involved.

A made man knows what to sign , I guess thats why psquare only settled with the traditional. if you like sign document , if you name or your children's name are not included in the will ... there is nothing you can do . and yes even if there is no will , it depends on whose name he puts down as the next of kin . some men still put down the names of their younger ones as next of kin. you should know the law fully so as not to make a wrong decision.
That's where you are wrong. There's something called reasonable financial provision for dependants. If there's no will, that's where your legal marriage comes in or in the absence of a legal marriage, the next of kin.

But then again....I don't want to argue. Wise women know what to do.

OP is right that it's important to sign documents and make the union legally recognised. It's not only about divorce but God forbid incase one of the parties die and the family wants to cheat you and your children out of what you guys worked for. It just helps to protect the family incase of such things since the law will be on your side even if there's no will.

It doesn't have to be an elaborate affair just go to the registry. If a man doesn't trust the woman enough to marry her legally then why is he marrying her at all undecided that is the woman who will raise your children so you should do everything g to protect her
Thank you! By the time one husband's brother will suddenly come from the village and explain to them how they are 'property' and so cannot inherit their husband's wealth (some of which the both of them even worked for) then their eyes will clear.

This kind of topic no need to argue sef. Just fold hands and watch.

But when I cram I remember oo. I still remember some things I did in Secondary school and even how the pages where I wrote them look like. I also remember what term I was taught some topics.

For those that cram and don't remember, well...you just won't be able to defend your result. How will you feel if your doctor keeps checking his textbook when asking you for symptoms.
Romance › Re: Does Love After Marriage Really Works? by CoCoLav(f): 7:29pm On Oct 02, 2014
Reference: Yes, because there cannot be love before marraige. You cannot love whom you donot know. Love is the product of relationship not the other way round. As a couple goes along in marraige the seed of love is planted and grows. That's why elderly widows and spinsters are very vulnerable and often experience profound physiological and psychological challenges after the death of their partner. That's true love. What you have before a typical marraige is infatuation or lust or hope. No more. And like an early morning mist the reality of marraige clears that away very quickly for the real love to take root most often after the seed dies (misunderstanding, conflict out if greed, selfishness, etc). It is the heat of the day that brings the real showers of love in the evenings to cool the twilight of your lives in old age. Life is beautiful. Learn to love. True love is good.
Thank you! True love lasts forever, it doesn't fade. Corinthians 13 is always my guide concerning love. God is love and until we learn to love unconditionally and selflessly we cannot understand love. Before marriage, people love for a reason.....He has money, she is pretty, she is smart, He is God fearing, He is responsible. All these are conditions. Pure love is unconditional.
Romance › Re: Does Love After Marriage Really Works? by CoCoLav(f): 7:24pm On Oct 02, 2014
ravgach: We are saying the same thing then. What I am saying is before you say I do to any man/woman, be sure that:

1. You have mutual respect for each other - for each other's body too (this does not come in one day)
2. You tolerate each other (this also will mean unconditional acceptance) this also is not a day's job
3. You trust each other (this come with test, remember) not a day's job
4. You reach some understanding (concerning money, job, children, inlaws, conduct, dressing etc) not a day's job
5. You are pooling resources together to make the relationship work (infatuation does not have this patience)
6. You share affection/attraction (You must be proud to associate/be with each other - not one person in front the other behind) takes time too
7. You are ready to defend each other with your life (this is one of the major test of love)
8. You are willing and able to support him/her in weakness/sickness/setbacks/misfortunes etc.
9. You are willing to share your resources (money, power, favour, privilege, talents, etc) this takes a lot of time.
Love in marriage is not a 100 meter dash. It is a capsule filled with all these and more.

There are different kinds of love. I am writing about marriage love here please. So before you tell a man/woman that
you love him/her (in the marriage sense) be sure to have thought on these and many more.

These lend credence to the fact that love must be the bane of marriage and must also come BEFORE its consummation, not the other way round.
Those things listed are not the different kinds of love. They are just what a rational being should look out for before entering into marriage. Most people who claim to be in love ignore some of this salient points which later leads to a breakdown of the marriage when the love no longer sustains them. Love is different from trust, commitment and all those things you listed.

Most people leave Number 4 till after marriage but yet they are in love. Most people even start having issues concerning number 4 before marriage but believe they will sort it out after marriage because they are in love.

If you label Number 7 as a test of love, how then can you also call it a type of love. smiley
Romance › Re: Does Love After Marriage Really Works? by CoCoLav(f): 5:49pm On Oct 02, 2014
ravgach: The marriage of old is not in any way comparable to that of today. It is like comparing the old and new testaments. Marriage 'worked' in those days because women are not married. They are acquired. In fact marriage of those days is a mini slavery. The man in most cases do not have a say. His father is his spokesman and the women are 'siddon look' their fathers marry them out! The men are mostly favored because they can marry again and again until they find love. If you really want to marry today, informed choice must be involved if you will make a success of it. Above all it must begin with love because marriage is all about love. Why enter it before you love when it is for better for worse? Is it not better to be sure the one you are going with is your best friend and lover before entering into it? I think it is better!
I don't know how to argue concerning relationship matter because its not a one shoe fits all thing. From the experiences I have had and also from other experiences, I have just concluded that love isn't the bane of marriage. Once there is tolerance, trust, respect, mutual understanding, commitment, whatever other qualities I need in a man and of course sex.ual chemistry then we are good to go. Love stems from all these things.
Romance › Re: Does Love After Marriage Really Works? by CoCoLav(f): 2:20pm On Oct 02, 2014
Oahray: love doesn't make one do all those. You are mixing it up. Infatuation makes one judge poorly. Lust makes one reason stupidly. Nothing makes one deaf as much as desperation to get married. All those make one blind to flaws. Those are what you should be trying to avoid.

Focusing on flaws isn't new. After the excitement of wedding subsides, that's what most couples spend their time doing. They discover one and go: "oh, why didn't I see this earlier? There must be more, lemme look for them." Thus the search for flaws begin and they lose sight of what makes the partner adorable. And another marriage hits the rocks.

If you can love someone after wedding, you simply got a person that is lovable, marriage or no.
I agree with your first paragraph. So are you saying that our parents who did not get married for love but later came to love, tolerate and understand each other are just 'lovable'?

Compare the marriages of those days and of today and see which ones last longer. Also compare the divorce rates of people who married for love and those in which love was not a factor. If you agree with me that our parent's marriages last longer then don't you also think that its better to have a 'lovable' marriage than to marry for love?
Romance › Re: Does Love After Marriage Really Works? by CoCoLav(f): 9:05am On Oct 02, 2014
Love after marriage is actually what I want. When you love someone before marriage, you might be blinded to their flaws in the belief that love covers all. By the time you get married and the love fades then your eyes open. I want to marry someone I don't really love so my eyes will be
open to all flaws and at the end of the day, I will know what I am getting myself into. I just believe that love makes people have poor judgement and reason stupi.dly. It makes you do things you ordinarily wouldnt do and settle for situations you normally will walk away from, it makes you weak and also makes you turn a deaf ear to advice from people who are seeing things you cant see. Love makes you blind!

Last day of school, we were asked to vacate the hostels before 5pm that day. My flight was for the next day and I had nowhere to stay. Also needed to send my luggage through waybill. I went to the ATM and withdrew just 4k to settle my clearance and pay some outstanding debt. Forgot about all the other expenses I had.

By the time I finished settling my debt, I had just #500 left on me. This was around 12pm. Went back to the ATM with my bff to get money to pay the cab driver who was to carry our things to the park, pay for the waybill and also the hotel bills. As we got there, the ATM had stopped dispensing. This was the only ATM in the entire campus. My bff was disturbed because she had no money. It was paying selected cards and our cards weren't among the lucky cards.

At this time I was very hungry and between the both of us, it was the #500 I had we were both hanging on to. Where we usually eat, the cheapest food there was #400. We couldn't borrow money from anyone because it was the last day of school and there's a possibility we will never see them again. We asked the security man what was going to happen since that day was a Saturday. He said he had placed a call to the ATM guys and they will be there by 2. We decided to go and eat. Got there and ordered one plate of rice and two satchets of pure water which we shared only for the sales girl to say she doesn't have #80 change. We followed her for about 30 minutes from store to store looking for change. By the time we got back to the bank, the issue had been resolved but there was now a very long queue. We were there till about 4pm before we could withdraw.

Its an unforgettable experience.
