StarBoard: Mixing up what? Please don't give me that.
Our season is partly judged by our exploits in Europe. For the previous 6 seasons since 06/07,we reach the quarters at the very least. How we want to isolate our Euro woe from Premier League performance is what beats me.We are supposedly the biggest club in Britain, why then are we looking for loop-holes based on analysis that was obvious?
Have we played well enough, even in the League you're touting,to be convinced that we have had a good season? The fact remains that we lost to Basel and Bilbao and you cannot expunge that from our record.Especially when we needed to have won.
We were terrible in europe, nobody will argue that. But losing out in europe does not mean we should have a bad season in the league. Chelsea are in the UCL final but are losing to newcastle at the moment unless something happens.

we have 83points and are tied with CITy at the top with GD being the diff, i would say we have done well. If u are expecting us to play barcelona tip tap and win all our matches, thats your opinion.

StarBoard: Boy, the end justifies the means.
Get that perspective and kill that argument of yours.
You talk about marathon. But you had a sizeable lead towards the home stretch and decided you needed to stroll to the finish line, forgetting your nearest competitor also wanted the title as much as,if not more than you did.So why compare us to City in the first place by making inane staetments about them being 50 points clear?
View my argument from the context of pissing away 8 points rather than losing last nights game. Which is the point you glaringly fail to see even though it's right before your screen.
If we were as good as we want to believe,we would still have our noses in front even today if we lost last night's game, rendering the outcome inconsequential.
The end justifies the means eh, ok i will call u out on this. i dont think you should querrying how we play if you end justifies the means.

CITy also had a sizeable lead b4 we caught up and led them with 8 points. talking about which game is important and which is not is irrelevant, except a club wins all there matches then the issue of important games are overflogged. this CITY have beaten us home and away in a season we still went on to win the league. Every game is 3points, win, 1point draw and 0points lose. If we had won against wigan and everton you would not be talking about this being an important game.

StarBoard: The above from you hardly registers any meaning to me.
We just got showed up last night as having no character and being full of hot air.No shot attempt isn't something to be proud of, the last time we checked.
As per losing games we should have won and all that, refer to my stance:the end justifies the means. We didn't mind as long as the league trophy landed in our cabinet. All that is in the past.Deal with the present:which is the fact that you have a soul-less, spineless, gutless squad of players who cannot be motivated enough by a past-it manager living on nothing more than his legend.
Well i believe you have insider info that the players really did not want to win the game and just wanted to show up. My Guy Shyte happens and the lose was more of UNITED not doing anything right than CITY's Brilliance. You may disagree.

StarBoard: Stop living in past glory and face present day-reality. We are about to get overtaken by City and you're falling back on past glory. Are we Liverpool?I thought we were supposedly hungrier for more titles.
I get am before nor be property.
we are both guilty of this past reference thingy, i refer to past glory, you always refer to past phuck ups ala Bilbao and Basel.

StarBoard: Delusional at best.If this were duduspace, it could have been forgiven.
Still trying to clutch at straws and give yourself a pat.Sour grapes.
If City managed to beat us despite not being fantastic, according to you, that says a lot about us in hindsight after the derby.

I can't stop you from watching the last two matches. In my mind, our chances are slim, given that we are relying on Newcastle to do a job for us while we take care of our own business.Remember we were in a similar situation in 2010 with Chelsea going to Liverpool penultimate day. You know how that one turned out.
I'm sure it's that easy to hope for a Newcastle draw/win,but we United fans have been so spoiled by success, sometimes we can be excused to think it comes naturally by default. So I understand where you come from.
i have not said we were fantastic this season, am saying if we have been that bad as you portay us to be in the league then either all the teams in the epl bar CITY are buncher usless clubs or we seem to know how the get what we want. according to you, the end justifies the means, so dont pay attention to how we got where we are.

Because it turned out bad the last time does not mean it will go that same way. newcastle just beat chelsea 2-0. Yes i am now looking to favours from CITY's last two opponents, assuming we do our part. Thats the way it is now and there aint nada we can do about it now. If they dont beat/draw with city. we lose out, simple.

StarBoard: Sometimes I wish life were that simple.
There are at least a zillion reasons why this was the most important of all the important games.I'm sure you don't need any reminding as to why we needed some kind of result in this. For you to belittle the impact of yesterday's game means you're either ot of touch with reality or you just don't know what you're saying.
My guy, Calm down, Life can be that simple sometimes. I believe i have answered the part about this being the most important match in the decade. the game was important, but not not any important as the wigan or everton match.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by codedguy1(m): 1:45pm On May 01, 2012
A game does not decide the title, there were many other games that were as important as this one.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by codedguy1(m): 1:43pm On May 01, 2012
StarBoard: Knee-jerk to you because you've been proved wrong.Knee jerk because you thought this side could go to City and get a result.Funny what you mean by knee-jerk when some of us have felt all season long that this side wasn't as deep as they should be (i.e. digging in to get a result). Noticed that United have failed repeatedly when required to get a result this season (Basel, Bilbao for starters). But it's called knee-jerking even though the obvious reality stares us all in the face.Knee-jerk when you can't muster enough firepower to get a shot at goal.
Proved wrong how?
You seem to mix up things just to justify your stand. At the begining of the season we had a debate as to how UNITED will fair this term and some of us agreed that we had a team that could challenge and win the title, but acknowledged that we would be found out in Europe. So no surprises when we got kicked outta europe in both competitions for that matter. so please stop using the lose to Basel and Bilbao.

Now that does not mean that weaker teams in the epl have not taken us to the cleaners, the fact still remains is that the epl is a marathon and not a cup tie. Its diff when u play a cup competition.

As per not mustering any shot on target, yes i agree that is not the UNITED standard, but thats not to say we have not lost games that we were supposed to win in seasons that we won the league.shit happens.

StarBoard: And it is this same success that is a problem for United.
Fergie thinks he can put a Sunday league team and get a result at City,by virtue of the fact that he's been successful.I've never read such nonsense in all my life.
The issue here is not City.Your attempt to draw parallels/positives out of nowhere falls flat on its face when you remember that we are guilty of the same offence they are charged (losing a large lead), but ours is worse:we had the lead in APRIL. . .the month most league titles are decided.
please do not belittle the successes of the club abeg. agreed we had a bad game yesterday. City were not that fantastic anyways.

StarBoard: Is that a tacit admission that we haven't done enough this season?
Because all I'm seeing is you looking at City when we should be looking at ourselves. If we do what we should, we shouldn't be clutching at straws and patting ourselves on our hunchbacks because we are level with City with two games to go.In fact we should be ashamed of ourselves that we contrived to piss off an 8-point lead in just over three weeks and four ties.
As for your summation about being the only team in contention,I direct your attention to Chelsea who despite their crises have managed to get to two decisive finals, and our arch-rivals Liverpool who have won one trophy and could do a domestic cup double on Saturday. I guess that perspective will tell you how much of a rubbish season all round we've had when we cant get past the group stages of the Champions League and drop 8 points in 4 games.
We have looked at ourselves and hopefully improvements would be made. Improvement which we have no bearing on as nairaland analysts. Fergie buys a player, you like him, i dont like him, we complain on nairaland. Fergie still goes ahead to do what he wants to do.

StarBoard: How do I know City will win their next two games?
Very Easy. They are in FORM.
Since they lost to Arsenal, they've conceeded only ONE goal, beat their nearest contenders to the title.
The Newcastle I saw last Saturday vs Wigan can't get a draw vs City, let alone a win.Unless God himself is a United fan (for the next two games).I'd loved to be proved wrong, but my gut tells me otherwise.
On your insistence about this team, that's your opinion.I still say a championship winning side would have made the result of this derby as irrelevant as they come if we took care of business when we should.
But One-Trick pony Ashley Young only reserves his scoring boots for Tottenham and Arsenal and Phil Jones is as clueless as they come, despite initial flashes of brilliance. These are the signings that should have propelled us to winning the title.Abeg, jare. when Fergie wants to win a title,we will know.Last season,we seized the top of the table in January and the closest anyone came was 3 points (Chelsea). When it came for a title decider,we saw how we dispatched the tie.Now nearly a year to the day we played that title decider,we go out with a whimper in the rain and cant attempt a decent shot at goal vs a side that looked dead and buried a month ago.And folks like you want us to believe they are good enough for the title. The answer to that was simply in the performance last night. In the biggest game of the season,we can't even manage to put up a fight.
Why dont you just give CITY the Trophy and save us the agony of watching the two remaining matches.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by codedguy1(m): 10:20am On May 01, 2012
RuuDie: The season isn't over. . . .for all we know, Sunday might well turn things back in our favor again - not the way we would have wanted things to be but its a League and sometimes its results other than yours that wins or losses you the title.

All these have already been said, we've thrashed all these bases before, no use getting into any more long winding arguments. We need to buy and freshen up this squad - SAF failed to do so the last time, we only hope he does so at the close season now. But to say the man is a spent force, I beg to differ.

I'll keep my fingers crossed, I am positive that Newcastle can do us a massive favor!
Thats assuming we dont pull up tepid performances like we did last night in the remaining two matches.

Knee jerk reactions flying all over the place now.
Yes we had a poor game and have given the initiative to CITY, but i will say we should all chill out.

We have enjoyed a good amount of success with this team and FERGIE and dont think we should start discrediting a team who at least is still fighting for the title.
We had a very tepid game but if CITy themselves were that good or the gulf btw both team is so wide, why are they not 50points ahead on the table. I would descibe whoever wins the league this season as the most consistent amongst an inconsistent lot.

Fergie selection was this and that, the players we bought were not up to par and all that crap does not take us anywhere, even with the so called crap that we supposedly bought we are still the only team contending with the arab billionaires. Give the team some credit. Yes we pissed off the 20th title in a manner not known to be attributed to UNITED.

I acknowledge we need new players, especially for our campaign in europe, i still insist even from the beginning of the season that this team was/is good enough to win the Prem and i think they have proved it to still be in contention.

We all believe CITY will win there next two matches and win the league, if they do i will congratulate them and focus on next season.

Manchester United = The hard way, the only way SMH.

Now if City win wolves, the UNITED game at Mancity will be crucial. It may still not even be the decider cos of the way all these supposed top teams are inconsistent. Its a race to the wire.

Imagine City winning wolves and then beating United, means they go top with GD, then they have a resurgent newcastle and stubborn QPR, UNITED have two very unpredictable, but decent teams to play, Swansea and Sunderland.

This Title race may be decided on the last day.

CITY vs UNITED is gonna be one hell of a match.

For all i care SAf can use these same players next season and will still win the league or at least fight for it till the dath.

the issue now is europe, how do we fortify the squad to be able to continue to challenge in europe. thats the koko of the matter. i never had any doubt about us doing well in the league, europe was the problem.

A much criticised midfield and squad has practically won us the league again for the 20th time, players that have been criticised have stood up to the challenge. the truth is man city with their better squad could not handle the pressure and so SAF has taught him how it is done.

Carrick, ashley young, DDG, Valencia, rio, evans, evra, Giggs have all been criticised this season, but they seem to have come thru.

For the league, i think UNITED know how to wrap things up and i dont fret at all even when we lose odd games like the 6-1 City mauling at OT and the 3-2 blacburn defeat at OT.

Its still 7 games to go and i think no one would bet against UNITED not winning.

I have been reading and trying to weigh both sides of the arguements. well i think there is a moral/emotion and constitutional angle to this arguement (pls i know the constitution overides any emotional position) but in Naija i think emotions are running high that no one should ignore. Emotions is what will eventually lead us to breakup regardless of a fake impossed constitution.

How can a people who dont seem to want any other tribe /relegion exist in there so called land start talking about oil money that has no bearing on this so called land. People that want to declare a part of the country an islamic state by force and even go to the lenght of killing people who went about their business in a peaceful way, just because these people migrated to their lands. they declare sharia and then want to declare who owns what in this country. 9phuck the constitution).

I blame the south, all we need to do is seceed and all this nonsense will stop. they MIGHT have a reasonable arguement SOMEHOW backed by the constitution, depending on interpretation anyway, but think its time we put all these parasites where they belong.

StarBoard: What can I say?
Not a performance that we should be jumping up and down for,I mean it's a 10-man Wolves.
On the basis of our European campaign, retaining the league is now a must, but not an achievement, given that we were supposed to have built on last year's exploits.
Until we get a midfield that can sound fear into rivals in Europe,we're not making any progress.Relying on Scholes and Giggs is an abberation.
This is all we got this season, and it aint uhuru yet, but atleast we are getting the 3points now. i think you should appreciate that.

There is nothing we can do about the midfield now in terms of bringing any new additions. We just have to grind out results with the personnel we have and if they scrape thru then so be it. Lets get the trophy anyhow and then we can start arguing about who we need to buy or dump in the summer.

When they start counting trophies, no one will be talking about how bad our midfield was/is. In anycase, how can a terrible midfield win the EPl, it simply means the other teams have worse department when compared with UNITED, and the standard/quality in the EPL this season has also been abysmal.

In europe, i will just quote CRISTALS at the start of the season "we would be found out in europe" and i think she was even refering to our defence not being up to par. And Boy were we FOUND OUT. Europe was an embarrassment for UNITED.

in your own words, you once described Messi as a "freak of nature" How do you assess a guy like that. that guy is proving to be impossible. yes we know he aint the same when playing for the Nt team but i think he will gradually start exhibiting some fantastic performances in the NT.

Messi did not start scoring these obsene amount of goals in the La liga from his first season, but now does it for fun. If he comes to the EPL and joins a top team, he will acclamatise to the play and am sure in less than 2 seasons he will produce the kinda things we never saw b4 without Xavi and Iniesta. He did not have them when he scored a hat trick for the NT recently.

Where were they getting their allocation from b4, is it not from the oil money/ If they want this sharing formular then they shud stop collecting the present money they collect from oil revenue.

They want to collect money from oil revenue that practically runs the economy and then collect from their own minerals that no one is even exploring.
