Welbeck is doing just fine, yes he shud improve, but i think he is doing just fine. he has contributed his quota no matter how we berate him here. The energy he brings with him has helped to unruffle some defences and that why Fergie will want to play him against Chelsea, i hope he starts cos he wud definitely trouble Terry.

The team has had quite a lot of injuries and at some point in time some of our players have lost form coupled with the two old men still in our ranks and quite interestingly doing fairly ok (read somewhere that Giggs wants another contract extension and Fergie is delighted) and even with all the issues we still share top spot with our noisy neigbhours. Will that be attributed to luck or just plainmastery cos we on here often criticize the gaffer for selections.

The chelsea game is a must win and hopefully a couple of our injured players would be back this month, Young, cleverly, Anderson etc we need them toshore up the options.

Iwould like to see berbatov play more games, how Fergie sits that guy on the bench regularly is a mystery.

Abeg, you people should stop all this Tottenham comparison, y'all are getting emo like Ritchie pointed out. Is there an outbreak of hormonal imbalance amongst Arsenal fans? tongue grin The best Tottenham can do with all these buys is to get UCL for one season and then go back to default position. grin
Buying and playing 30 year olds like Saha and Parker is not the right way to prepare for the future, let us not forget that fact.

I don't know much about this Eidsfield boy, but those stats look good even though allowance must be made that they are from U19 level (6 goals and 6 assists in 12 games is quite consistent), seems a bit like an Amaury Bischoff type purchase to me, only that we are giving him a long term contract and not a single season so its less of a gamble and more long term. If he's up to 80% of what Goetze is as a player though, it could be a coup in the future.
Where are the young stars Arsenal bought about 6years ago? (supposed players for the future) where dem dey? grin

Eidsfield might play for two years, garner experience and decide to leave when Arsenal remains trophyless and the circle continues.

This story excuse about buying for the future is extinct on Arsenal.

Dont understand why the attack on Welbeck, IMO i think he did very well yesterday, yes he missed some sitters but we all saw that the circumstances were diff. The chance where he stumbled over the ball is the only one i can blame him for, but yet again he is human.

Van persie also missed a sitter and was non existent in the game apart from his goal, these things happen and i think welbecks overall play was not bad at all.

I hear no complaintsabout the midfield again. we kinda matcehed Arsenal man for man at the emirates, once we have a bad game again we decimate the midfield and and ask for the entire team to be hauled off. I was not exactly comfortable seeing Giggs in the team and when SAF introduced scholes i did not like it also.

Chicarito might have not beeen match fit as i felt he should have come on at some point, Rooney was kinda quiet for a game of this magnitude.

Evra, Smalling, Rafael, Carrick, Nani and Valencia did well.

depends on the team saf rolls out. . .
if he cops his brainfarts again believing scholes is still in his 20s, we would get taken apart.
arsenal midfield would decimate united. . . . .but if he keeps the oldies on the bench then we have a chance to avoid a 2-8 defeat to the mighty gooners.
grin grin

Funny enough, this mighty Arsenal might win this game and then lose against Aston Villa next week. na dia way.

On a serious note, SAF shud play the youngest fit boys, all those old men like scholes and Giggs should just feign injuries abeg.

Your response shows that you lack understanding of where I am coming from.
Your stance was a NO to the resistance. If you knew the people will resist by taking to the streets, why did you drag those actions through the gutters of tribal sentiments? You instead tried to make a section of the country look better than another by mocking protesters' choice to resist and now turn back to say you knew they would and you stand vindicated?

If everyone took your stance, no one would have protested and all this would not have been revealed. There's no moral ground for you to claim vindication of decision on the back of the the comments you've posted in the past few weeks.

If the people did not protest, none of this would have been revealed and hence the protesters are vindicated . . Not you.

This is just the simple truth, and this will even make Nigerians have confidence in the govt if they are seen to be doing this. But we know most of them are beneffiting one way or the other and they all know each others crime/connections to the way they are siphoning the money. It would be difficult to prosecute anybody. Imagine if SLS knows about some underhand practices by some of the ministers. he will rather turn away than exposing that person.

I have said it before and i say it again, this govt does not have the moral right to even consider removal of fuel subsidy.
the cost of governanace and legislative looting rampant in govt is enough to sink any nation.
If there is a cabal looting from fuel subsidy, go after it,address the cost of governance, then come talk about removal of fuel subsidy and some of us will even campaign for it.
until that is done, all these spread sheets Okonjo Iweala and Sanusi are displaying on Power point slides are dead on arrival.
The bolded is my problem with the write up. how are we gonna survive till 2015, we go don die finish if we are waiting to get these demons out and how are we sure our votes will count sef.

GEJ wants us to give him 6months!!! I laff in Boko haram. We would all be dead by then!!

Saw this somewhere, 469 Nass members swallow N1.12 trillion which translates to about 25% of our budget as established by Sanusi and its ok, but 160million Nigerians enjoy N1.3trillion as petrol subsidy and the ruling class want to take that away also.

There is something fundamentally wrong with us as a country and i cant for the life of me believe people are justifying this demonic policy from GEJ for what ever reason. This is nothing short of shortsightedness mixed with wickedness. When people who cant think and analyse situations are in power this is what you get.

The issue can be tackled from the amount of crude we supply daily, how many barrels are kept for local refining and consumption, how many barrels are to be exported and how much is to be imported since we know our refining capacity is not up to it.

If we know how much crude is divided between the govt and the multinationals then we can streamline whatever is being imported, exported, refined and consumed. But this govt has chosen the cowardly option of to tally removing the subsidy.

I ask, which will bring more revenue if we sell to the whole west africa or even the international community, Crude or Refined products. My guess is the refined products, if GEJ arguement is that we are subsidizing the whole of WA through smuggling, then it is his duty to manage the borders better and stop that nonsense. Cant we build 10 refineries in this country and supply the whole of WA petrol, will that not be a better model, while making sure that smuggling is adequately tackled.

Lastly, whether we call the fight removal of subsidy or the corruption of our leaders, its the same thing, WE HAVE TO FIGHT!!!

I think Lindegaard is a very good option to have as a 2nd keeper IMO. But to compare them will be rather unfair.
How many games has Lindegaard played compared to DDG, its quite understandable for us to see more of DDG's errors than that of a Lindegaard who has not played that much and even played in important games.

Although the few times Lindegaard has been called up, he has given a fairly good account of himself.

Also DDG has also made some very important saves between the sticks and i believe he will grow into that position and command it like he shud.

^^

The fact that LFC changed their statement only further prove that something sinister was said and like u said they now needed an explanation.

Suarez agreeing that he made the statement and claiming that in his home country such things are not perceived as racist is exactly what nailed the case. He felt he could wiggle his way outer the entanglement.

Anyways, lets wait and see what will happen to Terry and we would know if the FA are consistent or not. We also have to wait for the explanation from the FA on why they took that decision against Suarez. it would make things clearer, atleast from the FA's POV.

Liverpool are just perambulating looking for any excuse to save their best player and I can understand their predicament. But didn't Suarez himself suggest he used d "n" with Evra, wasn't Gus Poyet screaming from d rooftops explaining that Suarez's supposed insults, were not an insult in South American culture. D media reported that "suara" defense would consist of character statements and highlighting d cultural differences of any supposed racist statement. All this points to d fact that d club and d player willingly acknowledged d guy said something that most likely could be controversial. Now all of a sudden they want to go back to arguing its Evra word against Suarez.

Good win, i will take it anyday.

Now lets see if those Arsess can do City for us. I know depending of those feather weights is asking too much, but lets wait and see.

If Arsenal win it would really affect city's confidence and then we would have to take advantage.

Having almost all our midfielders out is not helping us , but if we continue to scrap wins like this, when they fully recover and we enter our usual winning run at the business end of the season, then we got a chance.

To the ARSSE thread!!! grin grin
