I am glad the judiciary is taking this stance against this feckless individual, Fraudstus Otobo Keyamo. If he is a real attorney as he claims, he ought to know that as an officer of the law, you do NOT bring frivolous suits before the court. The 10 Million Naira that he was fined is NOT enough in my opinion.

Politics › Re: Same FG That Gave Dangote Loan To Build Refinery Couldn't Maintain Fg-owned Ones by CodeTemplar: 11:37am On Jun 05, 2023
Success1981:
I 've stated it before, what does Dangote apply or use to control federal government since 1999 till date.
Obasanjo gave him full monopoly of the cement industry. Every business he has interest in will be cleared for him to manipulate and control.
Just because he just finished his refinery, the government has quickly hiked the price of fuel in the name of non existing fuel subsidy just for Dangote to continue ripping Nigerians in the most devilish and demonic ways
obj didn't do too badly by giving Dangote and few others special privilege to rise. It was when the successive govt made it a tradition to give Dangote special treatment further down the line that it became an issue. Giving him so much forex without securing at least a 50% stake in the refinery project was a colossal error. Had that been done, any monopolistic tendency will have been halved and mutual. Half of 650,000 BPD is well above the maximum operational capacity of the four govt refineries.

That's because they number in the hundreds of thousands.

It is not just big men, and big cabals. Thousands of nigerians steal from the subsidy every day.

Jailing them won't stop the stealing. New people would step into the rift. The way forward was to destroy the system by removing its basis. Subsidy
you mean like the large number of terrorist sponsors? Nonsense.
Politics › Re: Civil Servants To Boycott NLC Strike by CodeTemplar: 7:30am On Jun 05, 2023
grandstar:
There's nothing like gradual removal. Total removal is the best. It's called shock therapy. It works far better than the gradualistic type.

The gradualistic approach is what the government has been using for years and got the nation nowhere.

Now, smuggling of petrol across the border has ended.

Providing solutions is simply a delay tactic and it would involve spending billions of Naira, money which the government does not have.

The people will cope. Those that will suffer the most are the car owners, especially the jeep owners.
You are denying the logicality of gradual removal as well as its effectiveness in assuring the people. What happened with subsidy removal of petrol, diesel and kerosene was in fact gradual in the sense that the are substitute products for engines (gen sets and vehicles). The govt failed in providing palliatives that can mitigate a quarter the anticipated effects and that's why petrol was hastily removed by Tinubu. He knew he wouldn't deliver any reasonable palliative and so resorted to one time removal while promising palliatives.

Expect same fate to befall education and forex subsidy as this is what our lenders are targeting next.

No alternatives on ground. The rail system is just an expensive textbook idea. The power system is like a national flashlight.

Yeah, because the profit margin from smuggling fuel...I could earn enough if I was a smuggler, pay off the customs and excise people and still come home with a ton of money.

Plus, here is a cold truth,...customs men and women cannot be everywhere. Unless we built the equivalent of the Berlin Wall around our country and manned it with over 3 million soldiers, we won't stop this nonsense.

At least that loophole is closed for now.

The same thing happens in Venezuela. Fuel is less than N10, meanwhile in its neighbours it is above N500. Result...Venezuela loses 18 BILLION dollars annually to smuggling.

It's like osmosis...area of high concentration and all that.
Nonsense. I hope 3 million men manned the borders during closure and food import embargo from neighboring countries?

Keep exergerating alternative to sell the subsidy removal idea.
Politics › Re: We Won’t Fix Petrol Prices Again – NMDPRA by CodeTemplar: 3:24pm On Jun 03, 2023

What is the root of insecurity…..Poverty. What is the cause of poverty,…..hopelessness caused by lack of investment in infrastructure education and things that promote the productive sectors of the economy and create good jobs. Why can’t govt invest in education infrastructure and other sectors of the economy that will create jobs and reduce poverty….because out of every 4 Naira government receives, it borrows another 1 to subsidize petrol.

If you cannot see the link, there is no point in continuing this discussion.
I am guessing poverty surged around 2009 when insecurity took off on another level. You are just a cheap paid spinner.

There is no fucking back up plan you slowpoke! The only back up plan is to stop living a life of fantasy, indulgence and start living a life of realities. If you have borrowed to eat and borrowed to feed your neighbor for years. The day there is no more money to borrow to finance your illusion, you are forced to face your realities….that day has come! Backup plan ko, back up plan ni , palliative this , palliative that, that is the illusion that has brought us to where we are.

There is no money for subsidy, there is no money for palliative. Get used to the reality. It’s onlY in a poor country of poor men with poor mimdsets that poor men will be driving gas guzzling 4wd trucks. Serious countries drive economy cars conscious of fuel economy. Now all of us will have to face the realities of the illusion and delusion…there is no more money!!!!

Now Nigerians will understand that the same tank of petrol can take you twice the distance if we stop speeding accelataring and braking anyhow. It’s only in Nigeria that people, buy cars without any knowledge of the fuel consumption, all that will change now.

If you like, buy petrol @ 500 or 700, if you like you don’t. If you like you go on strike when you don’t get paid you will come back and buy petrol At the market rate. If you like buy Toyota Tundra or 5 liter Mercedes’, if you like downgrade to Corolla. If you like buy petrol at 500 and burn all the petrol speeding, if you like you go slowly and extend your range. Nobody will tell Nigerians before they borrow themselves a brain. If you like you carpool, if you like buy bicycle. , if you like make the roads your second home. If you like work from home and stop unnecessary journies If you like don’t go to work, but know you won’t eat.
So of the failing aspects of Nigeria, it is petrol subsidy you guys noticed? Security has gulped so much money and is messier for it.
The loans whose repayment we have been forced go remove subsidy for was used to build unrealistic infrastructure. The train is one of the major projects, it can't repay 10% of its cost in the near future.
Politics › Re: How President Tinubu Can Reform The Health Sector. by CodeTemplar:
omohayek:
The only way any of these "nice to haves" will ever be realized is by freeing up some of the money currently being soaked up by servicing debts on foreign loans. One of the measures required to do that is the eradication of the petrol subsidy, which a great many Nigerians seem to value far more than they do a working healthcare system ...
You make it sound like petrol subsidy is the only thing that can be used to fix the healthcare challenges of Nigeria. What about the funds being looted right, left, centre and for ages?
Removing petrol subsidy is all about dodging the hard way of responsibly managing our finances by the Tinubu govt. Nobody wants to man up to the big boys of corruption and so they focus on subsidy. How much is our security budget for the past 8 years? Not so far from the subsidy figure but everyone up there in power seem to only notice how petrol subsidy isn't working and not the extremely pathetic performance in security area.

As for loans conditions that made petrol subsidy removal inevitable, when loans aren't used productively but as part of recurrent consumption, the repayment mess we are in is the end product. Nobody seem to be noticing how the expensive rail project cannot repay 10% of the cost, but quick to notice subsidy with a far better scorecard. If the rail systems were efficiently done and cost effectively, it could have been available to reduce the subsidy removal burden about to hit us hard.

The overall lesson is that the leaders can secure the borders but need easy money to keep flowing in and choose the subsidy trillions to bankroll their profligacy.

personally, I am hoping it comes on stream as soon as possible, though I know how politics work and acknowledge that the commissioning of the refinery complex a week to handover is highly suspicious.
