GreatResearcher:
Their members can't afford a 3 square meal. What an irony.
Going by your logic, Nigerians cannot afford 3 square meal but Buhari too has over a dozen aircraft (at his disposal).
Christianity Etc › Re: Meet Nigerian Pastors Who Own Private Jets. (photos, Video) by CodeTemplar:
False information. There is a difference between the office a clergyman occupies having a PJ attached to it and the clergyman owning one.

Buhari has access to over a dozen aircrafts but can he be said to own one?

Wisdom is profitable to guide.

hopefulLandlord:
Kenneth Copeland said he bought private jets from church money because commercial flights harbour demons. Makes you wonder why a strong "man of God" is avoiding demons, shouldn't he go after these demons instead?

Jesse Duplantis, who at the time had 2 private jets already, said God wanted him to buy a better jet, why? because the new jet he'd buy can go to any airport in the world without needing to refuel.

The part of their excuse for owning fleets of jets is that it's used to "Spread the word of God" but this doesn't make sense in today's world as airline companies have been terribly hit by the explosion of the internet. in short airlines made money in the past because interacting with people halfway across the world required you to be there or send letters Which doesn't usually cut it. now you can open your WhatsApp and video chat with almost anyone, you can send a message and it's instantly delivered. This has made airlines lose money so you don't need a jet to spread the word.

At the end of the day, it's their money they got from gullible individuals who can't sit to reason beyond what the pastor says and try to reconcile it with what they do. A lord's chosen pastor tells you to buy his expensive reflective jackets and wear them for both spiritual and physical protection and you believe him even though he uses bodyguards

Oyedepo would preach faith healing to you but won't hesitate to fly his wife to world class hospital aboroad when she was sick

when they need material things they would ask you to donate but when you need material things they would direct you to "God"

the bitter truth is that Religious belief is an invisible security blanket for insecure individuals.
Closeted minds will continue to allow brainwashing and indoctrination by religious leaders that there is a 'god', and there was a 'jesus', in order that the people with closed minds allow themselves to be controlled so that the various Corporations (churches) remain profitable as the tax-free money continues to roll in. people center their lives around a fairy-tale. All that time, energy and money centered on a lie. For some it's a business, for others it is the central cause of division within their family. Religion sucks. All of them.
Stop the lies.

Congrats but no nose mask and social distance??

But religion does not have anything to do with God.

Africans which sin did we commit for us to believe the white man who came with boat enslaved us and took over our kingdoms and declared our tradition devilish while preaching to us that Jesus/Mohammed is our savior and we need to repent?

Repent from which sin? You that colonized us and stole our artifacts, enslaved us have not repent but you’re asking us to repent from what exactly?

Do you know the first slave boat to move innocent African slaves out of Africa was a catholic missionary boat?

They who believe Christianity Is the truth and the life, i ask was it Jesus that asked the colonial masters to enslave blacks, steal our artifacts, and declear our african way of relating with God devilish?
Just congratulate the celebrant or get lost. Our gods couldn't help us invent dry gin or mirror talk less or crude oil and cars.

na compare your tithe + offering + seeds to your tax ....which is more

government gives u police , cheap University , fairly functioning hospital that can save your life in emergency , ...what do your church provide again ?
Cheap and useless education you mean?
Police that gags and kill taxpayers (employers) right?
Hospitals that they take out tax for from salaries before the christian section get to pay their tithe right?

The church provides the best schools around. They provide the a hospitable environment.

TonyeBarcanista:
Those against CAMA Amendment are either ill-informed or mischievous.

In sane societies like USA, South Africa, UK, Europe, Australia etc, there are agencies that regulate religious organisations, CSOs and NGOs. Why should Nigeria's be different?

Some people said it is a fight against the church, and I ask, which Church?

If the Bible is right, the Church is the congregation of believers. It is not a building or religious organisation. And believers don't need any formal nomenclature or organisation to worship. The Bible says where two or three are gathered, CHRIST is present. The Bible never said people should establish organisations, neither did the early Christians establish organisations.

Now let's look this....

A man wakes up on a faithful morning, he approaches CAC (Government) to register his organisation, which he names XYZ Church

He lists himself, his wife, Kids or associates as Trustees

He gets certificate from the government to operate...

Yet, he argues with the government that they have no right to regulate the activities of the same organisation that he went to government to register.

He shouts persecution, war against the church and God.

Meanwhile, he is the final authority and CEO in the religious organisation, and won't hesitate to show the exit door to anyone that questions his authority.

The irony is that he abides to similar laws abroad...

As much as I'm not a fan of this administration, I support this CAMA... Although Nigeria politicians are useless

FACT:

FG or any other government cannot regulate the "Church" (congregation of believers). Even the Roman government couldn't regulate the Church.

However, government can only regulate religious organisations (formal organizations) that are registered with the government in line with the constitutional mandate.

The rule is simple, don't register your organisation with government if you don't want to be regulated... Same way you don't register your business and NGO with government if you don't want their regulation...
Grow up.

Sometimes u just wake up to see bullshit on Nairaland. People who know nothing about Islam are displaying their stupidity because of their hatred for the gov't. Roadblock is common in Nigeria I stay in Kaduna and I can tell u that there are churches that usually block roads during service for security reasons. On the other hand the Muslim be it torikat qadiriya etc (but the ignorant OP tagged as Sunnis ) block road because they don't have enough room for their congregation. And it is usually not more than 30min. This people after prayer don't have beef with anybody so why should police or Army clash with them.

Admin after admin, we trivialize issues and make it into stupid APC vs PDP coloration.

A part of what brought Zimbabwe to that point was the insistence on subsidising consumption activity that was not bringing the desired growth and printing local currencies to be able to pay these subsidies. This triggered inflation as the money supply rose without a corresponding rise in productivity.
Productivity is what gives values to money, once govt decides to start subsidizing(encouraging consumption at expense of production), inflation is inevitable. In the Bible, when God interrupted the production cycle by withholding rain, production of basic needs ceased and inflation kicked in. It i s commonsense that production is far preferable to consumption for economics.

Ode, before you start shouting yorubas dominating the list, just know that the list is not a complete picture of the number of students from Nigeria admitted to UK ivy League, it's just a serialised list - mentioned only few names that suits the fantasy of the writer.

But as usual and as expected a complete list that is not serialised which is the jamb list was dominated by the IGBOS. Forget it, there should be no comparison between Igbos and Yorubas on anything positive in Nigeria.

By the way the CAMA is not for only churches so why is CAN making it look like they are after the church?
Funny enough, the constitution you are holding onto like you scored a great point with also allows for freedom of association. Daft law.

Hear yourself, the matter in focus is actually between the members and pastors or church leaders, so why will govt want to seize control of a contribution the contributors are pleased with the way it is being spent?

So, anyone that has a treasurer is rich...? The way you guys reason I am sure your children will be ashamed of you. Was jesus rich? Did he own businesses? Did he own chariots and horses? One man of dog even countered that Jesus drove a brand new donkey, and I asked him did Jesus own the donkey? How many times did he use it... He kept on stammering...
Another came and said they casted lots on his garment.. When I showed him that the gament was put on him by the king to mock 'the king of the jews' ... He started stuttering...
The truth is that, our pastors were never intelligent just charismatic. no wonder they always came last in class or by far, average. Most of them are not even sound Upstairs. The intelligent ones like oyakilome, use thier intelligence to market falsehood and become rich.

You even mentioned apostle Paul that went in rags and hunger wanted to finish him whilst preaching christ and had to depend on few contributions here and there to survive.eventually got executed.

This is someone that was well off as a Scholar and lawyer of means.. The problem is, u guys listen to these illiterates as pastors.
