Christianity Etc › Re: We've Spent 36 Billion Naira On 120, 000 Capacity Auditorium - Pastor Ibeyeomie by CodeTemplar: 4:44pm On Aug 02, 2020
AdeniyiA:
Let us start building people of impeccable, Godly characters and world changers and not just competing on structural capacity that'd become history and be eaten up by moths and termites.
The presence of God is not measured by the size of your edifice or the capacity. May God open our eyes to see beyond the physical. Amen
I don't think this is part of any competition among churches. If as a pastor you are running 4 or 5 services on Sunday, you won't need competition as motive to start such a project.

Simple logic.
There is no glory in having sense o. Only in the appropriate use of sense.
Do you have cancer, AIDS, Coronavirus, and Ebola before accepting their existence?
Did you go on yatch cruise to accept it is reality.

What I keep saying...
Miracle is a two way thing. Giving and receiving. You may be willing to give but the other party is unable to receive. Anytime a person was raised from physical death in Bible, they had good standing with God. What's is the standing of the fellow being raised from death? No one can say for sure except God says.
Politics › Re: De-radicalization” Of Terrorists Doesn’t Work - Farooq Kperogi by CodeTemplar: 10:31am On Aug 02, 2020
authority2006:
Firstly, there is no northern conspiracy. You don't want to be a northerner or living in the north these days. Poverty in the north was higher than what we had in the south before Boko Haram and banditry problems emerged. North is far worse today, they need all the help. Only God knows how many deaths per day!

Secondly, militants were offered amnesty with pay packages. The issue of Boko Haram is different. FG is rehabilitating and de-radicalizing the repentant captured ones and those who willingly surrendered. That didn't stop the killing of unrepentant ones. The captured ones are in thousands, FG can't kill them and the cost of keeping them as prisoners forever is unimaginable! It's a dilemma
Hear your own self. You are not making any sense. How did they gauge the repentance of these killers?
Your point about cost of keeping prisoners is dumb. They can be put in special community prisons where they work to reduce the cost of their imprisonment. In advanced nation, the remorsefulness of an inmate is gauged carefully by his or her lifestyle in a prison system that presents them with opportunity to do good and bad. In Nigeria, they are gauged "abracadabraly" after a "forceful" deradicalization.

People like Kperogi are not part of the solution. They're just what they are, barking dogs, online wailers, burden, attention cravers. I read through his rant, no where did he proffer any alternative solution.
Typing...

If I may ask, how is the repentance of these terrorists measured or gauged? We all know what it is, and that a northern conspiracy. When ND people were given amnesty, they were given based on what they were fighting for. In BH's case, they want their own nation but are being given the opposite of that and money. It makes no sense.

Faith is a genuine trust in God. You may trust a man with a thing or task while having a doubt about his/her ability to deliver. With faith, your belief is unwavering.

Education › Re: Covenant University Conducts Home-Based Post UTME For The First Time by CodeTemplar: 10:05pm On Aug 01, 2020
HigherEd:
The Covenant University Scholastic Aptitude Screening (CUSAS) is a mandatory screening test of the institution for prospective students. It is held once a year before the beginning of the academic year.

However, unlike previous years, this year’s CUSAS is being held virtually in observance of the social distance rule occasioned by the COVID-19 caused by a new strain of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) previously unidentified in humans.

Covenant has been able to transmute seamlessly from the usual physical screening to the virtual, courtesy the state-of-the-art Information Communication Technology infrastructure of the University.

According to the Chairman, CUSAS 2020, Professor Kolawole Ajanaku, the screening exercise had been seamless since it started on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. “Screening of candidates has been hitch-free because, at Covenant, we are accustomed to the use of ICT. Since COVID-19 started, we’ve been on virtual, delivering lectures to our students and having meetings and conferences. So, I believe that’s the way to go,” he stated.

Not less than 3,000 candidates had at the time of filing this report indicated an interest in participating in the 2020 CUSAS. Professor Ajanaku said that the University sent conditions for successful screening to candidates, and he encouraged parents and guardians to provide the necessary equipment and data for their wards to ensure a smooth exercise.

Covenant had consistently been the most subscribed private institution by candidates seeking admission into Nigerian universities. Competition is keen for admission to study in Covenant owing to the cutting edge world-class education and infrastructural facilities on offer at the institution.

Alexaonfleek:
The bitter truth is that if you want better public institutions, you'll have to privatize them.
Nigerian government doesn't have enough funds to build world class universities.
That is why private schools will always be better than government schools in terms of infrastructure.
A world class uni is actually 5% funds and 95% sincerity of purpose. Look at CU. Their buildings cost less than N500m most times but same goes for higher in public sector because egunje ( kickbacks ) The fund going into public schools is already at an impressive level. What we need is management and not more of what is being wasted - money.
Education › Re: When Would Public Universities Embrace E-learning? - Guardian by CodeTemplar:
I like to just talk about something that affects the adoption of e-learning generally.

E-learning is based on internet access. Internet access in turn based on network and internet enabled devices. Right now, the network side of things in Nigeria and sub Sahara Africa isn't on the level of more advanced nations. We are far geographically from the core of the internet or internet backbones. Internet backbones are like the point at which strong and latent internet access exist and these geographical points are mostly in clusters around the developed nations. The end product of far internet backbones is expensive internet cost data volume.

If I want to access a file of 1GB in a server that's linked by a backbone in London. My network provide or internet service provider (ISP) will have to created a connection medium from Nigeria down to London, but another man in Manchester, will only have to his ISP needing to connect Manchester to London. That's a few hundred miles as against my own thats thousands of miles away from London.

This has made data more expensive in Middle region of Africa.
It is only natural that e-learning which depends on affordable data suffers as a result. The solution goes beyond will and commitment of govt. A govt that pays around N30b isn't an irresponsible on as ASUU like to impress us. We need to ask honest question and match them with honest answers.
