Adegunle4: Eeyh...it’s unfortunate. I was at the University sometime last year for a project brief. The school was planning on construction some new hostels with a view of taking in more students. I guess that’s just a ripple effect from the pandemic. In a case where classes have moved online, why should a hostel cleaner or janitor be kept on payroll? Same goes for other non-academic staff whose jobs have been affected by the lockdown order. |

georgeiyke009: And how many people have actually run a business.
When I listen to most of you talk, I wonder whether you guys are even educated on how companies run.
Companies are separate entities. The have their own management staff, generate own revenues and pay.
They also can have different or same board of directors and chairman.
Most will be incorporated as PLCs or LTD.
No sane person borrows money from a different business to fund another business that is failing even though they belong to the same person.
How exactly will you report it? As what? They can only borrow money from the bank or finance houses but what will the terms be and how can will they keep borrowing to fund staff salaries? Schools are closed for now. If the school has pivoted to online classes which I am sure they would have, the only component of their fees they will be paying will only be tuition. So all other administrative roles will be moved online.
Pray tell me, why would you keep paying someone whose job has been made redundant. In fact worse borrow money from a bank or anywhere to pay people whose jobs are redundant?
U guys expect him to use his personal money to pay salaries of a business that is not making money ? Why not simply shut it down? That is also an option.
For those who do not know, schools are very highly leveraged. The financial projection only makes sense if academic sessions are not disrupted. this is what ensures cash-flow, i.e positive cash-flow. Once schools are not in session, they will go cash-flow negative instantly as the profit generated from the school would at the highest be 50% ( and this being highly generous). Some parts of the 50% would have gone into capital expenditure as a reinvestment back into the school so they might just have about 30%.
How exactly will they run the school with 30% of the original revenue?
@seun : I think you need to start making sure that professionals comment on threads like this. When people who are not knowledgeable about how business works comment on threads like this, it makes a joke of this website. compare some of the responses you get here to responses gotten on for e.g. the same type of question from Quora. totally different. Thank you so much. In a case where classes have moved online, why should a hostel cleaner or janitor be kept on payroll? Same goes for other non-academic staff whose jobs have been affected by the lockdown order. Even FG is beginning to pick the so called Oransaye committee/panel report that recommended merger of MDAs. The FG too wants to disengage redundant hands they have hitherto protected. That's a far cry and change in direction from the hold philosophy of " sharing the cake" that lead to N-Power and the likes. |

Am I supposed to stop talking to other guys, because I am dating a guy like you who can’t even take care of the basic needs of a woman, her hair and toiletries? Of course I am doing it myself, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with my man doing it for me. If you are broke and do nothing for your babe give her some space.
She knows you don’t have and trying to cope with you but don’t choke her up, especially now when you have nothing to offer.
Ps: if you are stingy as a man, you are not a man, you have no value. I didn’t say broke I said stingy. If you can’t do in little you won’t in much. So its only for financial rewards you can trade you details and moves to a friend or lover? I pity you. |

ochejoseph: In John 10:10 Christ said satan’s mission is to steal, kill and destroy. Since the year 2000, Bill and Melinda Gates have spent $5 billion feeding Africans and saving African lives. It thus betrays ingratitude for Africans to call them satanic agents. Can we not give them the benefit of the doubt? We have produced no evidence to substantiate these rumours, yet we are so prepared to forget all their good deeds and just label them anti Christ.
How can you say Bill and Melinda Gates are satanic agents when Christ said satan came to steal, kill and destroy? For years, they have been doing the opposite of that. It is particularly disappointing for politicians to make that claim. Can you do for your people what Bill Gates has done for them?
Sadly, misguided Africans insulted Bill and Melinda Gates when they expressed concern about deaths on the streets of Africa. But look at Kano. If we had taken their warnings seriously, Kano won’t be a #COVID19 hotspot today, despite having tens of thousands of mosques and hundreds of churches.
How can you have individuals who have not lifted a finger to help their people. Who have not shared palliatives out of their pocket. You have not done a giveaway.
Their only contribution to the #CoronaVirus fight is to insult Bill and Melinda Gates, who have spent more money on African’s health than their own governments Bill and Melinda Gates were not satanic agents when they provided anti malarial medicines to Nigeria, or when they provided food aid to the insurgency ravaged Northeast. Now they are satanic. Africa and ingratitude. What a shame!
Right now, there will be racist haters of Black Africans, approaching @BillGates and laughing at him, while saying ‘did we not tell you that no matter what you do, they will never be grateful?’. Africans. Without evidence, we have crucified a friend of Africa!

Let the governors put their heads together with the PTF and come up with good generalized rules that can be applied in every state. If a rule cannot be applied in every state, it is not a very good rule. We are not that different from each other and the virus we are fighting is the same, so why should the rules be different? It is not right. Do they think with their heads? I doubt. How can all States attempt to be country yet can't fund themselves? They are after money as usual. |

Seun: We need a national strategy for managing the disease. Interstate Movement restrictions are not the answer. We have to monitor every major city or town in Nigeria and respond rapidly to test, isolate and treat people before they spread it further. This is not a Lagos problem, Abuja problem, or Kano problem. It’s a global problem which calls for a global strategy, but for political reasons the best we can do is to treat it as a national problem with a national solution. The idea that you can protect your state by blocking your border when people are dying in the next state is preposterous. It we are not monitoring all areas of the country simultaneously, the places we are not monitoring will become the next epicenters of the disease. The states claiming no confirmed cases today could be the next Kano in the next two weeks. Coronavirus does not respect our arbitrary geographical boundaries. We have to tackle it with a coherent and uniform national strategy. Nigeria isn't a united country like that. When it first hit Lagos they used a lost that favoured another region to share money out. That's what Nigeria is all about. Sharing of money! The time lag this covid delay afforded us could have been used to prepare a lot of things like face masks production lines, Sanitizers, and bed spaces. Everybody is focused on how to get more Monet from Abuja. |

I support them going back but not with viral load of Coronavirus in their body. What is now the use of lockdown if they send some positive and homeless people to new areas with no covid trace. The idea of sending back almajiri to their home states is one of the daftest move ever.
Every state has their fair share of almajiris residents and at the end of the day they will only end up sending or spreading the plague, while all the states will still have almajiris in them.
Take Kaduna for example, they are one of the first northern state to have it. Any attempt at sending back asymptomatic carriers is simply going to spread the virus to wherever the carriers, in this case almajiris, go to.
These guys should know better than this. |
