AkeNathan: I wish Sanusi had contested and won the presidential election in 2015 instead of buharia.
Man is so enlightened and exposed, and never afraid to drop his illuminating ideas on Northern issues even as they may antagonize the conservative nature of Northern Nigeria.
Case in hand is how he openly opposes the almajiri system in Northern Nigeria, which breeds millions of child beggars and out-of-school children. This advise is clearly a halfhearted one. Sanudi doesn't talk when the his people are misbehaving by wasting public funds on Mosque construction or ram. He now want to give impression about caring for the poor. The govt isn't meant to feed people but to create conducive environment for private entities to thrive. Parent are responsible for their children and not govt. Govt is for the collective welfare of muslims and non muslims, that's why govts powerand activities revolves. things that muslims and non muslims share in common in the society like security, water, road, electricity, laslws, policies, regulation, health, education etc. Govt is not for feeding and clothing people but for ensuring food security through things like anchor borrowers scheme of CBN, BOI and NHIS in health sector. Sanusi isn't fit to lead a compound of 50 people if you ask me. |
Education › Re: Covenant University Ranks 91st Best University Amongst Emerging Economies by CodeTemplar: 10:49am On Feb 23, 2020 |
HigherEd: Yes, thing is CU would continue to widen the gap on Times Higher. CU would be unbeatable in the next 10 years unless Fed govt infuses at least 30 billion naira extra annual cash for UI.
UI peaks its research deposit at 1135 from 114 departments in 2019, Covenant did 1400 on the same Scopus from only 32 department. Now the consequence of that kind of difference would have impact till 2023.
Example, when UI produces 1000 academic publications and CU does like 250 they are like equal in the eyes of QS, ARWU and Times because CU has 1/3 of UI's department. Under no circumstance should Covenant equal UI on quantity of research.
The problem was since 2002 no university has ever surpassed UI in academic publications - this gave UI mad reputation - but made them complacent especially since UNN, Unilag where no where near UI. 2012 Oyedepo wanted to compete and infused cash and the rankings started reading different stories because UI's success was still mediocre and beatable.
Currently, there's another mad funding for CU central labs which indicates Covenant is looking to reach 2000 publications. At 2000 CU would depose Uni of Cpetown.
There's a small way for UI to fight back - Tetfund. If UI can access much of the research fund it can still fight back. It won't win but would close the gap. Talking about Tetfund driving UI's research financially, here is an interesting editorial from Guardian. https://m.guardian.ng/opinion/tetfund-and-grants-misappropriation-in-ivory-towers/The idea of private universities is clearly opening eyes. Mediocrity had been our excellence for so long and people are sceptical when they hear of a private university excelling above the much 'respected' public ones. |

NO...reason, a pleasure car is a liability, NOT an assett. Brown according to him is just 30, why can't this idiot invest his money into the secured long term (10 year- non callable bond market) will.change the present value (PV) of that $400k he has thrown away on RR to at least $3.56m... future value (FV)
This man thinks he will be able to earn money from the round leather game forever? Why can't he just buy a $80k Benz and $100k Range Rover and invest your money... if you are so desperate to ride an expensive car.
Look at Wilson Oruma, a former millionaire in $$$ professional football star now constituting nuisance in warri, begging to pay his rent....instead of him to admit he mismanaged his earning 's by making poor choices in his playing days, he started blaming someone of swindling him of his money....how can one person swindle you of N3billion? Even the federal government of America as an entity can not swindle anyone of $10 million without your personal banker or financial institution putting some breaks on your dealings with the swindler entity. The only time they cannot stop you, is if it is your choice to be extravagant, then that's your choice!

Jarus: I have read comments on this thread that almost got me into tears.
The accounts of those that did not get the jobs are very touching. I was almost moved to tears by some of them. I can imagine the pressure, the expectation, the hope.
It’s just how life is.
It’s not the end of life. In my final year in Ife in 2006, I had a classmate that could barely pay the N17k school fees. He struggled to raise the money till the last day. He was my good friend. Very brilliant guy (first class actually) but from a very humble home.
When we graduated and started job hustling, anytime he came to Lagos, he used to squat with me in my brother’s house. Sometimes, I would even be the one to “dash” him N500 for transport fare back to his state (in the SW).
He wrote the test of Accenture and they said he didn’t pass.
We both wrote the test of an investment management firm in 2006 (we started job hunting even before NYSC) immediately after graduation. I got the job. He didn’t get it.
His morale was affected. Everyone knew he was more brilliant than I was. His confidence was being affected but he soldiered on.
Guess what? In 2008, few weeks after out NYSC, he got job in an IOC that is perceived to be the best place to work in Nigeria.
That changed his life and that of his family and his generation.
The last time we saw, in 2016, he just “warmed” his new house in Lekki which cost him over N60m. I don’t have that despite starting earlier than him. That’s aside his house in his hometown.
This was someone that was rejected by Accenture and Vetiva, small firms.
So guys, NNPC rejection is not the end of life. We have all been rejected by one employer or the other at one point in life. I failed GTB test in 2007 or so (first time I’m saying this anywhere). Today, I probably earn more than a senior manager in GTB. If I had passed the job test in 2007, I would not even have risen to become a manager in GTB today given the multilayered bank career ladder.
So guys, the race is not for the swiftest as the Christians say. And as we Muslims say, what will hit you will not miss you. More people should be encouraged to try out entrepreneurship and farming. CBN has been doing some great things with the anchor borrower scheme. These kinds of testimonies you shared are rare and I don't advice anyone to be too focused on it even though they exist. People should look to build capacity more and apply to different directions. I saw the amount of hope folks had on this NNPC recruitment as a I am a follower of one the active posters on the thread. The next one maybe some years away. |

tonyxrated: I did n I'm about to get married this November.
How did I do it?, you may ask.
I made God my 1st Love, so when I entered into a mature relationship, d night b4 my 1st Sunday of d relationship, I had a terrible dream about d lady.
So when i got to church service, I heard d Spirit of God said to me, when u get home tell her u are not doing again.
It was hard for me to break up with her cuz, it was my 1st time of breaking up with a lady.
Then I had another dream, Woke up n God said to me, I told u to break up with her instead u are hiding d relationship from me, do you think you can hide anything from, even if u give her ur heart n ur virginity, she will still break ur heart.
So as I was preparing to break up with her, I met my other rib, so it helped me to break up from d relationship God had told me to.
The 1st week of getting to know my other rib, after midweek service at night, after saying gud night to her, as I thought of her on my way home, I heard d Spirit of God said to me, don't mess her up, she don't have a mother. That same midnight I called her n ask about her mum, she said she lost her mum at d age of 5.
After 3yrs of my relationship with her, I purposed in 1 of d day not to eat till I have prayed to God that midnight if she was d 1 for me, as I slept b4 d midnight prayer, I had a dream about my a wrong relation that I had wanted, when I woke, God said to me, all that glitters are not gold, stick with what I've given you.
D other lady I broke up with was about to enter tertiary institution, I would have sponsored her. I might be even be lucky to marry her, but there would have been issue.
But now, I can boldly say like my father in d Lord, I'm heading for a hitch free marriage talkless of marrying d lady I sponsored in tertiary institution.
My lover sister said to me, bros, d way u talk about ur relationship, how are u so sure my sister won't break ur heart, I said to her, I trust d God that gave her to me.
It is not luck, it is light!
N the light is this:
1. Make God ur 1st love n He won't let d devil n his agent steal you from Him.
2. Make prayer of enquiry b4 engaging in any relationship or sponsoring someone. Don't assume like I did, in d 1st relationship. Grace differs. Acts4:20, 1jhn1:1. Let me stop here, I'm feeling sleepy Divine direction! |

Adeboye should just accept the challenge by cutting down his tithes collection by 5% instead of 10%. He should also sale one out of his two private jets. Daft talk. Tithes are voluntary unlike taxes. Tithes are based on trust and believe. Tax is based on coercion. Tithe is part of a private system(christian) arrangement, tax is common to all muslims, Christians and traditionalist. Tithe is for the house of God. tax is for the common things children of God share with those who don't believe. Adeboye covers more constituency(Intl inclusive) than 99% of our leaders so he needs jets more than them. |
