Telkart19: University education is expensive.
I hate saying it, but either we find 1.5 trillion naira yearly just for universities, more if we want free feeding, or we take a loan.
Or we cut subsides completely and spend the cash on education
And yes, that school feeding thing is not sustainable. Sorry, life is not that easy.
Nigeria will become a rich country when we get off oil. The wastage in education sector alone is more than that of any other sector. The average ui grad consumes about 400-500k subsidy per year and by graduation that could accumulate to N2m. Some even graduate and go and start selling rice and beans, leaving their expensively acquired skills behind. Who bares the burden of such systemic wastage? The system A.K.A Nigeria. So people must know what goes into their education and make conscious effort at using the acquired skills to benefit the society. |

Telkart19: No, when Nigeria had 5 universites, did not manage too many primary and secondary schools, when the number of Unity schools was less than 10, and when most schools were private or mission run.
The problem started when in 1973, we took over mission schools and built new ones by the ton because we had the oil money thanks to oil boom.
By the time the oil boom went bust in 1982...the schools were just albatrosses around our neck. Funds dried up, standards fell..and yet, we continued to do the same old...build more schools at all levels.
We need to spend N3trillion now yearly just to keep universites we had as at 2009 up to date. If not more. Our budget is 9trillion. We don't need more funds. We need to block leakages in the current system. Let all schools publish their books. Harvard runs on public donations and renders account to donors so lets stop pressurizing and blackmailing our govt to spend more money. |

HigherEd: To be honest to Nigerians. If you actually woke up on that election Saturday morning and actually thumb printed for Buhari. It shows you have a very poor sense of judgment. What did you all expect
I can tell you that man probably does not go to office anymore. He just wakes up and does whatever he likes. It's not just that Buhari is a bad leader, it's that he is incredibly Lazy. Bodily and Intellectually! How can a man hand over to himself, yet can't figure out his cabinet at this time.
If you ran a bank or any organization the way Nigeria is being run it would have totally crumbled by now.
Buhari lacks Vision, He is lazy. Those two attributes coupled with his bigotry makes him one of the worst leaders to have ever governed this country.
Next time you ppl should vote someone with track record in the private sector. Someone who has turned a dollar to five, not a man whose number if catlle has not increased since the time he began running for elections. PDP contributed to lack of alternatives for willing voters. You have to look at where you are coming from before jumping back into it. Atiku as a candidate was a very poor choice. In my opinion, less bigoted but lazier and just as corrupt as Buhari. APC has no opposition in the real sense. |
Politics › Why Havent Security Agent Clashed With Suuni Muslims Who Block Road On Fridays? by CodeTemplar(op): 4:19pm On Jul 09, 2019*. Modified: 6:37pm On Sep 16, 2019 |
Why haven't security men clashed with muslims that pray on major roads?
Every Friday in major northern Nigeria cities and towns, muslims gather in any mosque located at the centre of the town no matter how small the mosques is and do their jumat prayer there. They do it obstructing roads around the mosques and I find it baffling that our security agent have hardly clashed with them the way they clashed with Shi'ite muslims.
What is the secret behind this highly improbable pattern? |

As a prototype, it should be tested and further developed to something more appealing to the eye before finally unveiling rather than this public show of shame. We have since gone past this level. There so many of such similar vehicles (although not electric) built by skillful technicians and artisan begging for sponsorship to produce better designs. Further development requires fund. |

With all the latest designs in town is this all a University Engineering students could come up with? Who even brought this kind of news online? I believe this project started in the nineteen eighties hence the body design finishing and should be better off being placed in museum than being seen on the road. What can a distance of a mere 30km offer. Besides nobody is talking of how many hours it will take to get a full charge. I can't celebrate this mediocrity. This isn't a case of how far or how well it is but how hard it was getting the prototype to work. |

jomoh: Kuwait is not using it for Nuclear power plant. Nuclear power plant is a whole different ball game entirely.
Nobody builds a nuclear plant hinterland. You have to consider the temperature of the atmosphere and the temperature to be generated by the reactor itself.
Would you rather have a Ruga with human beings that can be controlled or a Nuclear reactor that can wipe out a whole country if it explodes. Remember the nuclear waste will still have to be washed down the River Niger if the reactor is located in the north. All the states along the River Niger and River Benue will all have radiation contaminated water due to the nuclear waste.
Except you're going to say they should construct a pipe carrying the Nuclear waste to be disposed in the Atlantic ocean. even if you sat that, have you considered a situation where the pipe is intentionally sabotaged by enemies of the south? And all these concerns will be gone once it is sited in the south right? |

jomoh: Haa
Did you have a deep thought about the investment outlay of pumping salt water to the north [b] just because of nuclear power plant? [,/b] How much does nigeria stand to make as profit from pumping salt water to the north as against pumping oil to the north?. It’s not a wise investment at all. not just for cooling nuclear plant but for all season ruga settlement and farming. Is real, Kuwait are doing it and it makes sense economically so why are you saying it isn't a wise investment? Besides it will outlive oil and gas and even out-earn oil/gas in long run. |

jomoh: Nuclear power plant needs massive amount of water to cool down its core(reactor) if not the explosion and the subsequent radiation will wipe out the whole country and beyond and the radiation will continue to kill if not cleaned for over hundred years.
The reactor that exploded in japan was located beside the ocean. The reason it exploded was drop in water level of the ocean. Now imagine locating it where there’s no water(NORTH) Yes they do need water. That now opens the possibility of using the massive heat given off by the plants to distill salty ocean water. They can pump salty water to north from ocean down south, clean the water with the heat from the plant (distillation) while cooling the plant, then go ahead to pump the distilled water to Ruga and farm settlements for all year farming. I can't imagine having water, oil and gas in the south and then focusing on transferring the oil/gas to the north instead of the water. We don't think in Africa. |
Politics › Re: Buhari Reconstructs Ikeja Military Cantonment Buildings Damaged By Bomb Blast by CodeTemplar: 5:28pm On Jul 08, 2019 |
paraltero: Not a big fan of the president but this one actually makes sense. Nuclear reactors need water - lots of water - to stay cool and prevent a nuclear meltdown alla Chernobyl and we all know much of the North is drier than people's wallets the day before payday. Seeing as any meltdown would affect more or less the whole country on some level, it would be better to have them in the south. So you mean Benue portion of river Niger isn't enough? I will research more on that. |

Another bribery towards the Ruga. Settlement?
I have one pressing question unrelated to the topic. Why is it that the govt is leaving the whole land mass in the north to go site nuclear power plants in the southern state where they have gas readily available and within a short distance?
This to me is another attempt at lording it over the south by locating dangerous technology in the south which has better prospect of alternative but pumping gas up north to power plants. |
