Which brings you back to the big question . To the extent that government at all levels cannot be trusted starting from Tinubu himself bring back subsidy that all Nigerians at least can feel the effect until the refineries are working cos nobody knows how your mumu palliatives will go. Subsidy is the only way we can feel the effect.
When you are ready to give us what works for all without corruption then you can think of other avenues.

Firstly , this is the second time the naira has been allowed to float freely .

The first time was under IBB after the disaster known as Buhari had wrecked the economy .

Buhari hid under protectionism to hide the dwindling FX reserves which greeted his treason on our polity.

A simple check on FX reserves from CBN archives will show you a significant dip in FX holdings between December 1983 to January 1984.

As Buhari carried out his coup on our polity on behest of the then struggling Thatcher govt that was battling a recession, huge amounts of money was moved by Buhari to pay our creditors in London . This was a debt that was hanging from the senseless civil war which you guys instigated.

Shagari had insisted on debt rescheduling due to a slump in oil price and huge theft by the Obasanjo govt - notably, the missing oil money scandal by the Buhari headed NNPC.

Britain at this time was dead broke and was facing waves of coal and rail workers strike. This was when Baron Victor Rothschild as adviser to the Thatcher govt and head of MI6 instigated another coup in Nigeria. The first being your senseless coup of Jan 15, 1966 that turned Nigeria from zero debt to owing Jewish Banksters in London which Rothschild was a major creditor.

IBB was forced to float the naira in other to reopen the economy. The naira was fixed at #4 to a $1 and after its first trade closed at about #12. That's a whooping 300% devaluation and nothing compared to the current drop we are witnessing

By the time Abacha took over it was at above #20 to a dollar. Abacha will borrow some buharimonics for political reasons only and despite this, the naira was forced to crash to about #40 to a dollar on Obasanjo being sworn in. So between 1983 to 1999, the naira devalued by over 1000% despite all artificial attempts to prop it up through fixed pricing.

You must also understand that the naira is one of very few currencies that has never been traded internationally, thereby making it a non convertible currency outside it's soverign borders. You can only convert naira at Nigeria's land borders. Outside this, you will not see anyone willing to touch it.

You argument is based on continuing the failed system that only promotes a parallel market which insider traders are the only beneficiaries.

This how the FG can utilize the Forex to remove excess liquidity from circulation and drive down inflation.

No genuine business will bid so high for Forex in such a challenging economy. What do they want to import that they are desperate to bid so high for Forex?

In a few months, if the FG compels the CBN to withdraw all excess liquidity from funds raised through the FX open window bidding, the naira will regain to about 350-400 to a dollar.

When I see comments like this that get likes I just know that most Nigerians are plain ignorant about the economy and how it works. What's making the exchange rate worse is not some money kept somewhere it's simply that there's no supply meanwhile demand is outrageous.
As at yesterday almost all Nigerian banks have billions of dollars of backlogs of matured fx obligations yet to be settled dating back to as far back as 2016.
Until all that backlog is cleared there's no hope for the naira in a floating regime. Even when the backlog is cleared there still won't be hope cos everyone has lost hope in naira and dollar supply will still not be adequate .

For the first time in my life, I am beginning to really regret staying back in this country due to my huge emoluments instead if migrating to Canada in 2020.

What are the labour organizations and civil society doing? By now we should be out protesting but the usual naija he go better is the response as always.
In case you don't know, that your land or house if you have any will be sold to your friend that japad 2 years ago because your purchasing power has been reduced while his has increased due to the devaluation and inflationary policy of this demented man.

How a man spend years chasing power and after getting it didn't know what to do with it should be studied in political science. Buhari got into office unprepared and unfit to rule. He spent a major part of his 8 years jet trotting all over the world and left Nigeria economy in tatters. His laisse faire attitude to leadership made his government anything goes and looting happening everywhere without care. His approach to leadership issue is always lackadaisical and where he needs to be decisive on sensitive salient issues on security, economy or even politics etc will rather leave it to chance or expect things to sort themselves out.
Buhari is the worst calamity to ever happen to Nigeria.
Every aspiring leader should do a crash course on how not to be a buhari in leadership.

In case you don't know, the people of Donetsk are Russian speaking and infact are Russian in every facet of their lives, the bad luck they have is just to have been drawn in a map with Ukraine since the balkanization of the old USSR.
They have been seeking their independence since the 90s and successive Ukrainian government have oppressed them and make them slaves in their own land just because they see them as Russians.
Putin cannot take this torture to his brothers anymore and decided to liberate them. Now I'm not saying the invasion is good but you cannot blame Russia when the US and the west generally have done the same thing in Libya, Yemen, Syria, Serbia etc and left the countries in a mess.

I don't blame Obi at all for what happened to Atiku. Atiku is the mastermind of his own downfall, firstly it was the turn of the south and he shouldn't have contested but fine he contested but why not pick Obi as vice and strike a deal with him that you will only spend one term. Their combo would surely have won this election hands down.
But Atiku fell into the scam of the pdp southern governors who demanded that he picks one of them as vice.
Obi saw the handwriting on the wall in pdp and decided to try his own luck elsewhere.
So please let's stop this blame game on Obi. He did the right thing by contesting and now he's also a national prospect for future election.

Who told you there can be another rerun after a rerun election?
The constitution is clear that the majority vote wins once a rerun is conducted and 25% does not apply in a rerun election.

Fct is a territory and not a state, a president is the governor of the fct. How will he govern a place where the overwhelming majority don't want him?
The constitution envisaged this and made provision for a run off where the winner is simply who wins the majority votes and 25% does not apply.
