Unnerve:

But there are people who built in your neighborhood, even the one you rented was built by someone.

If you were to start looking to get your own house, would you be financially capable enough to build/buy one in that same neighborhood, considering how much you're already spending on rent?
It wasn't long ago I finished NYSC, not looking to build anything soon. One month income pays my rent. I'm good.

I will speak for myself and my experience.

I live in such a neighborhood and I love it. The calibre of people I have met just walking down my street is something that would never have been possible if I was living in low-income neighbourhoods.

Twice, I have gotten job offers without any mention of cv. One of them works closely with the governor, the other owns a radio station.
The people that offered me this job did not know me from Adam, they only know I am a neighbour.

Besides, nothing beats the inspiration gotten from walking around your neighbourhood and seeing beautiful mansions, clean streets, and breathtaking landscaping.

The quiet, the serenity, the security is something I will not trade.

The sun even hits different here walahi grin grin

Please, don't do it if you can't afford it. But if social mobility is your thing, then it should definitely be an option.

Family / Re: Why Your Diasporan Friends And Family Do Not Send You Money When You Ask. by Coolabbie: 5:58pm On Jun 01, 2020
rhames:

How can they send you money when :

They pay weekly rent instead of annual rent and they pay the equivalent of what you pay annually in a month?

They pay more for food and clothings?

They are heavily taxed for breathing simple air?

They struggle to buy Sunday and Friday clothes to put on and be neat and even buying casual clothes is hell?

I have never sought either financial or any assistance from any of my relations abroad for anything because my own uncle spent close to thirty years there as a civil servant and retired back here in Nigeria and still receives pensions here through the UK High Commission here. He had little to show for his stay there.

I am an advocate of struggle and never of begging. When I lost my job, i sold my car and a lot of other assets and invested in shares and real estate. Today i have a business and a chartered accountant and a Ph.D. holder. Please stop begging them money. Concentrate on your talents and let it work for you and pray very very very hard to have a brakthrough in your lives.

God Bless Nigeria.
Wow!!!

God bless you too

You are right as well but some could be true you can never say I personally know of a person in Canada that earn around that range before he left Nigeria. I am not emotional about bro the way she talks like as if she and all her friends live king in the UK. And to be sincere if the OP is not lying he is most likely living a better life than her grin grin grin grin

TrueNigerian300:

At the bolded, rich Nigerians and rich people across the globe do not have problem migrating to anywhere they choose to it is only poor people and Nigerians included that struggle and even kill themselves to migrate to anywhere in the world. With less than 2m dollar you can become an american citizen with easy but many Nigerians pass through shit to get this because they are poor. Madam no place like home and no matter how reach you are you will always be a second class citizen in a whiteman's land. It is easier for you to make name for yourself back home if you are rich. The same Otedola you are talking about who give a Bleep about him in abroad, who knows him?? What about his daughter why can't she stay abroad and build her career there? She is home and doing well to the best of her ability in naija but in abroad who give a Bleep about her

Go and check only poor Nigerians go to school abroad and never return home because of fear of poverty. Dangote's daughter all manage their father's business here, mike daughter's as well, Tinubu's son and lot of others. Mind you Seyi Tinubu did all his education abroad and has the opportunity to live there even large enough than most british but he chose to return to Nigeria. He is the CEO of his own company imagine he lives in the UK where he has to struggle to get contract because of his skin colour. Nobody will give a f**k about him there but here in Nigeria he is a boss that controls hundreds of people. The sh**t most Nigerians pass through abroad is all because they are poor and never want to return home because of poverty if you are a rich person with dignity and know your what you will never want to take those sh**t hence many of the rich Nigerians will prefer Nigeria only to go abroad for holidays.

If you have experienced what it means to live large in Nigeria or you have live closed to people who do so you will know that your abroad is trash and that is the bitter truth. How many Nigerians are head of big corporation abroad?? How many Nigerians are what 5m dollars abroad
From my interaction with people here in abroad I have come to realise that whenever i tell people that Nigeria is better when you have money the only people that disagree mostly are people who back in Nigeria the only thing they know is poverty and I cant blame them for it. It is a very bad experience to be poor in Nigeria and Nigeria is hell fire if you poor.

The guy said he is looking for more money and here you are sweet mouthing abroad for him. How many Nigerian earn above 50k dollars per annum, how many earn 100k dollars p.a in your so called abroad. The funny thing about most you is you encourage Nigerians to come abroad and when they get there to even offer help as small as it could be becomes problem. Some will even switch off their phone so the person cant reach out to them. Some are ashame because of the mess they live in after all the I live abroad gra gra.

At OP I wish you well in your decision life is all about risk the bigger the risk the bigger your success and the worst your failure also. If you allow people who live in cubicles abroad and the only things they know back home is poverty decide your future. If allow people who work in factories, people who are educated but are doing unskilled jobs make decision for you. If you allow people who have no value in their place of work as compare to you that is well respected in your place of work decide for you. If you allow someone that is sharing an apartment or who has 2 bedroom flats with 3 kids decide for you.If you allow people who wish they had the kind of job you have right now to decide for you. It is your life and i wish you well that is all I can say.

Nothing but facts.

Eloquent thoughts and you're correct about the educational prioress of Nigerians in at least the USA.

The tissue is generational. From a young age Nigerians have been coached to go to school, get a degree, become a lawyer or doctor. There's nothing bad with that but that's where it all started from.

On the other hand in the USA you will find shop class in high school where kids can learn trades like auto repair, plumbing. They can then go on to trade schools to formalize the training.

There's a big disconnect in nigerian educational system where most if not all of the technical and trade colleges are long gone.

Many of us are coming back or are back to make these changes in Nigeria. Unfortunately though the foreigners are already here ahead of us and have made in ground.
If you are back, welcome home. And may whatever God you serve make your exploits in your homeland successful.

Also the contract states 20hours for the job, that like 600 usd
If you can, relocate to a state that has constant electricity. That's what I did and I have had no need for gen for more than a year now.
