Smooyis: No matter what u may feel, OBJ remains a great leader. One cannot but continue to like him for his political sagacity and for being a changer of events. Unless one takes a deep look at what he was able to achieve during his tenure, one may be tempted to continue to cast aspersion on him. I do not know him or belong to his party nor am i a politician. But come to think of it, why do we seem to have a semblance of political stability today? What could have made a minority like GEJ to become president of naija today despite how much a person like IBB desired to rule naija again? What could have made an Inspector General of Police, a serving Governor, ministers, legislative leaders to face much embarasment as a result of corrupt practises? Have u heard about d arrest of any naija leader since OBJ left. I mean what is d state of the EFCC now? Toothless commision i guess, in d name of the rule of law. The communication revolution of OBJ provided millions of jobs during his tenure. I dont know if jobs are still being created today. Though he has his weakness, but he is far a beta leader dan many others before and after him who are tribalistic and religiously fanatical and grossly corrupt. He was one detribalised nigerian leader who stood firmly for the oneness of naija. One could guess how tactifully he could have averted so much deaths and destructions caused by BoKo haram if he were to be a leader now. Nigerians dont eva appericiate their good people, but the outside world see beta. God help us from our negative criticisms!
You forgot to mention that he was the ruler who banned most of things that Nigeria does not produce, but did not ban the importation of fuel which is flowing like an occean in Nigeria soil. OBJ, is Evil take it or leave it.

That was why he said that he is afraid as a boy scout general, IBB boasted of coming out of retirement to fight to keep Nigeria one as his economic and political empire, imagine a man that cannot do more than 5 press ups boasting of fighting in the war front, if any thing happens in Nigeria i would like like to fight at the sector to capture IBB alive. The Revolution will start from the elites then the masses will join and finish them up.
PoliticsRe: PDP Behind Boko-Haram, Killings In Borno - State Govt. by COOLDUN: 5:35pm On Nov 12, 2012
mekaboy: SO PDP IS BEHIND BOKOHARAM? PDP HAS BEEN IN POWER SINCE AND WHEN THE NORTHERN PDP PRESIDENTS WERE IN POWER BOKOHARAM NEVER THREW ONE BOMB.

ITS NOW THAT WE HAVE ANOTHER PDP PRESIDENT FROM THE SOUTH THAT BOKO HARAM HAS GONE MAD.

ITS ONLY A FOOL THAT WILL BELIEVE THAT ITS PDP THAT IS USING BOKOHARAM.

I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT ITS THE OPPOSITION THAT IS USING BOKOHARAM TO DISCREDIT GEJS GOVT.

YES THERE ARE STILL MEMBERS OF PDP THAT ARE WITH THE OPPOSITION EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE UNDER PDP UMBRELLA
I agree with you in some points, but that it is only to destabilize GEJ’s government i say capital NO.Remember that the president that almost eliminated this boko haram was an Hausa/Fulani man, Late Umaru Musa Yaradua, if GEJ followed that man’s method this boko haram menace would have been a thing of the past. GEJ’s confirmed that they are in all the arms of his government, Owoye Azazi repeated it and was fired for saying the truth. Common Nigerians you people should reason like the people and not the apes.Your president told the whole world that Boko Haram members are his people and brothers that he should not be expected kill his own people.

He is right, following his confession that they have invaded his government which means he knows them very well. And should not be expected to kill his brothers/people even if happens that his so called brothers/people kill innocent people every day. Stop diverting this boko haram incident to the opposition parties. Boko haram have many sections both criminal, religious, political, all in terrorism, but for allowing them to exisit till now, means that PDP led federal government is in the best position to tell better about the Boko Haram.

All the arrested and escaped boko haram members have something to do with the PDP led government. All these are the products of a failed state. Nigeria is a failed state. ANARCY is the system of government in Nigeria now.

bermuda1: Yep any Yoruba person with the last name Da Silva, Da rocha, Salvador, Vera Cruz, Pedro,Santos, Verissimmo etc are Of brazillian descent
Pedro is a Spanish name for Peter: Pablo is Paul, Salvador is Savior, they are generally known as Latin names not Brazilian Names: mind you that Brazil was colonized by the Portuguese, in fact they are the only country that was colonized by the Portuguese in the South American continent. Those names you mentioned are mixed of Spanish and Portuguese. Lagos is a Portuguese name. There is a city in Portugal that is Lagos also.

Points of correction, San Pedro, Fresco, are Spanish Names not Portuguese: San Pedro means: Saint Peter in English, and Saint-Pierre in French, Fresco, means Fresh in Spanish.

What a useless force and stupid officers? So that is the way they wanted to end these young men’s lives right? Imagine after a whole one hours the Armed robbers had already left they appeared from their hiding places, only to come and began shooting without knowing the actual facts of the robbery. They are not police personnel; these might be Boko Haram members in the Nigerian Police uniforms. I hope government should do something about this nonsense, I hope they will not tell us that they are on top their wives and on the matter. A day should be celebrated as a year in Nigeria nowadays oo. The grace of God is our guide and security.
Back in the days when Nairaland was what it was, comments from the first page would have carried very weighty and logical debate devoid of sentiments.
Now, out of every 20 comments, 17 commentators write for the sake of hoping to be the first to comment while the remaining who we used to look forward to reading their reasonable comments in those days write for the sake of remaining relevant even when their contributions makes no sense anymore due to sentiments.

NOI's crime as some Nigerians see it was her push to remove subsidy from fuel. Nigerians understandably tried resisting such policy even when most of them didn't know why.

She made her reasons clear:

1. If the government keeps paying the subsidy as it was then, the economy will collapse. Any true economist/policy maker would know that the economy was on a free fall.

2. That the Nigerian masses does not benefit as they should from such policy, hence the proposal for subsidy devpt account.

3. That the fuel subsidy programme has been marred by scam by a few government officials and individual/marketers (cabal).

Hell broke loose when the Farouk investigation showed that billions have been amassed by these marketers/cabal and their allies. Propaganda, misconception, mudslinging and blackmail started springing up. Mostly sponsored by the indicted oil marketers. Note that these marketers has amassed so much wealth that they can bribe almost anybody in their way.

I might be wrong, but to the best of my knowledge; she has never signed or payed any subsidy to any oil marketer. In fact, she has been up about how the CBN signs and approves these subsidies without their (MoF) verifying and clearing such approvals.

She may not have been doing her job as perfectly as most Nigerians would want her to, but so far; she has been carrying out her primary assignments as stipulated by the constitution.

Now, if the president and the designated agencies mandated to prosecute these indicted marketers are not forthcoming for reasons best known to them, then the burden of this whole mess shouldn't be on Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
Paying subsidy to whom? On whose supervision? How on earth should somebody be paying money to the goods that were not supplied and didn't know until people reacted? Man, please study this matter well before lecturing us on what we know very well. How would you feel if your manager kept on paying for the goods that were not supplied to your shop, and later asked you bear the cost? These people are serving you and I, and not our masters as you guys are giving them room to claim. They suppose to account for us. I am not surprised if they hire you guys to defend them online. But pls defend with good and sound logics and not for tribal, party, or religion bases.

These women ministers, mostly NOI,have almost succeeded in turning this government to their kitchens and bathrooms, while the politicians are turned to an errand boys and girls. Mr. President is already her class monitor.

Who does this woman thinks she is fooling? Everyday pointing an accusing on the shadows , recently it was Cabals, today is Oil Barons, tomorrow it will be Road Safety officials. Why can’t this woman mention the names or shut up as ordered by Malam El Rufai. Madam almighty minister remember that there are a lot of women who are holding more important post than you, performing excellently without much noise.

We have many women presidents in many countries today, who are more important, honest and hard working, but not much known, you are trying to be more popular than the man who employed you, because of your lies and empty noise makings.

It is high time you expose these people you are trying to offload your failure on their heads. Proverb says that, bad work man always quarrels with his tools. Folks can anyone tell you guys that, it is a beefing up security for another deadly economic hardship policy bomb shell that will be fired on the already dying Nigerian masses by January 2013.

It is certain that next year will make 2012 a child’s play. God open the eyes of the Nigeria masses.

Nairalander s people with two tongues, today you are calling for the lynching of the Police patrol team, last time you were blaming the mobs that lynched confirmed/captured fully armed deadly robbers all in the name of civilization. No the mobs would have invited the patrol Policemen to the Oba palace, prepare a nice Amala , ewedu/effoh soups, with orishishi meats. Then after feeding them well, then the Oba will crown them with Happy trigger killiers award. Nest year GEJ will complete their reward with a National Award of B.B.O.N : Busy Bodies, Orders Of Niger. Nigeria and Nigerians are totally confused nation and people. Period.

It is high time they look for alternative resources than over relying on the crude oil. A word is enough for a wise.

This fellow made a statetement to someone though not in a proper manner and you are here insulting a Political party. Poverty and hardship have taken control of the Nigerians’ brains that is why they jump into comments with baseless facts. Keep on attacking yourselves and political parties, while your servants in the government turn you people into big slaves.

Do not mind the corrupt government sponsored agents on nairaland forum, if Dino Melaye, is corrupt and he is fighting corruption he is supposed to be supported so that after nailing others we shall come back to him, but now he has not been found or proved guilty, he is very right to fight against corruption as a full citizen of the country. By the way who do these vultures that are calling him names on nairaland expect to take up this fight against government? Very soon all of you the sponsored anti masses crusaders on nairaland will be fished out and punished with your co corrupt government and cabals.

If Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, loves Nigeria so dearly as she is claiming, why then did she abandon her ministerial appointment to go and contest for the World Bank President? Had it been she won, would she have combined the both duties? None of her policies has ever achieved anything in the lives of the masses. To me she is the one working for the CABALS. Dino Melaye is right in his fight against this corruption infested/dominated government.
PoliticsRe: Tambuwal Defies Party Summons Over Clashes With Jonathan by COOLDUN: 4:48pm On Nov 08, 2012
Democracy is a system of government that throws up political associations called political parties whose major responsibility to the democracy is not to grab power but to research ideas, canvass those ideas, market them to the masses so that the masses can buy into the ideas and vote them into power to implement them. Tambuwal should know that the HoR has a role to play in a democracy, so does political parties. Lower oil benchmark is basically a conservation economic concept and this is normally built around political party ideology. Massive government spending vs saving, prioritization of infrastructure vs education... these are ideas. This National Assembly cannot reject benchmark derived from a particular algorithm that have always served us for years without really requesting for that formula and changing it. It smacks of myopia. This very formula that gave the executive this benchmark was used over the years and has always been approved. Is the problem that the formula is no more realistic? If yes, request for it, make your input and adjust it to reflect conservation vs spending logic and not this grand standing.

The big question that those that cheer the present National Assembly adventurism is this: is it right for the national assembly to be the one deciding on oil benchmark prices, waiver options, economic performance indices and the likes? These guys should know that they are LAWMAKERS, not policy makers.

This is the more reason why political parties need to develop themselves and be stronger to be able to reign in members who veer off their idea path. Should GEJ fail to achieve his programs that are calculated based on this benchmark, PDP also have failed. The same way that Bush policy is widely seen as GOP policy, so people should know that you can not call for a better politics if you don't request for better political parties.

Yes, our government must improve and be more efficient. These are done via government programs and policies and these policies are contained in political parties manifesto. So Tambuwal's statement shows that he does not even understand the meaning of democracy and the role of political party in it. It will be foolish imagining a Democrat Speaker opposing Obamacare. We want our democracy to mature like that of Americans but we are willing to cheer on a renegade because he seem to be attacking GEJ.
Grammar!!! From your comment one could easily see that all the arms of government in Nigeria are in a very big mess. From the Executive. Legislator to judiciary none can boast of knowing and performing their constitutional duties rightly. This means doom for the country.

My dear, if there will be any election as usual; he is talking of 2015 when nothing has been seen from his tenure apart from robbing the masses to please the CABALS. If there will be a genuine election in Nigeria, I see changes, but if it will be a selection as usual then, there will be no change. Americans are happy people because they choose who to pilot the affairs of their great nation. But African mostly Nigeria politicians are selected amongst the CABALS, that is why we see changes as an essential commodities. How can Nigeria at this age still be campaigning with Power supply, Water, Roads, Jobs, Education and security? Things we supposed to have seen as a necessity is turned to be pleasure. These people are known as the workers of iniquities. Take it or leave it. If it does not exist then let us know through your logical points, and not bashing from your beer parlor ideologies.

basty: What are the Police doing about this?. I think they should have information gathering since these spots have been identified?.
What steps have they taken to arrest these evil people?. The problem is, most of our leaders are ritualists and paradventure these Ritualists are arrested, they get them released.
You are 100% right my dear. Any day luck run out against them and they got caught and lynched by the angry mob, you will hear many Americanas on this forum blaming the angry masses for not handing them over to the Police. Forgetting that all the small thieves’ graduates from minor thieves to the hardened criminals, and also ritualists and the politicians, they think will act for them. Imagine a young poor and wretched Okada rider being dragged into an evil forest to be killed for useless reasons.

How will his dead spirit see Nigeria as a country? instead of the Police and security personnel to secretly track them down and get them arrested, they are here warning the citizenry to do what? This warning is an indirect way of passing information to their customers the ritualists, that their spots have been known.

Tell me how any ritualist will continue to operate at those aforementioned areas, after reading this warning? The Nigeria security institutions has failed woefully. When this kind of thing happened in Ghana during JJ Rawlins regime , he mobilized security agents secretly they posed as the new customers within few months many of the ritualists were apprehended and paraded on the TV, and publicly executed, this reduced the rubbish in Ghana till today. From the Mr. President to the local government councilors in Nigeria, are the customers to the ritulaists. Let anyone proof me wrong.
CrimeRe: Police Lists Hot Spots For Ritual Killers by COOLDUN: 8:19pm On Nov 06, 2012
mrkels: A police DPO in ekiti state told me that there's this path leadind from ekiti state to osu state, that's if you are going from Efon alaye(ekiti state) to iwaraju( osun state)...he said somewhere along that express there's a. Thick bush where they kill at least 20 persons monthly. He said they have tried to follow them more than once but always fail in the operation. His reasons and exact same words - " each time we follow the bus filled with dead/sleeping passengers, there's a particular sharp bend they ll divert into, the place is hilly and no car whatsoever can go through except the ritualists bus.the grounds would become level and the bushes would give way for their bus and close in behind the bus" please people aviod that route as those killers are using what seems to be spiritual powers to hide themselves from the police.
Arrant nonsense, this shows the incompetency of the said Police officer and all his co team of patrol men. How they followed the bus loaded with half dead people more than once without catching the ritualists? Why can’t they puncture the tires of the bus? Or is it spiritual bullet proof tires? Then how can people avoid those areas hence them the Police cannot arrest the confirmed ritualists? Why can’t they declare the road a ritualist’s base and no go area? If they could not get these bastards, why didn’t they report to the Police higher authorities so that they can draft in more serious and competent Policemen to save the lives of the innocent passengers? I am happy he mentioned a South Western city in this incident. Nigeria is a dead country, call me anything you like. The truth is as clear as a crystal. Where are the citizens free in Nigeria? Tell me pls.
CultureRe: Youths Chase-Away King For Shunning Traditional Festival by COOLDUN: 5:41pm On Nov 06, 2012
The nairalanders always jump into conclusions in their judgments without going through the matters thoroughly, there is no problem in being a king and a child of God at the same time, all depends on how you handle the affairs of the land. The king is right to choose to participate or not to participate in the festival depending how it is performed.

To me I will never participate in any festival that encourages human blood, or idol worshiping as a Christian and child of God. Recently from a reliable source I was told that this festival involves human sacrifice, and some virgin sacrifices to appease the gods of fertility and harvest. How can one take the life he/she cannot create? I believe that God almighty put this great man to make some changes in that town, no real child of God will ever participate in a barbaric culture and festival like this.

Imagine a man who is managing one wife being forced to add another wives and burden to his life, when he marries many wives and decides to be using his community fund to feed his family, it will be the same villagers/youths that will shout and accuse him of corruption. My faith made me to know that a happy family is the one, with one wife. Polygamy is a big sin and crime, which is supposed to be avoided by any child of God.

Before criticizing this monarch, we supposed to ask the kind of festival and the procedures of the ritual that is involved. Why are the youths so concerned and annoyed for his refusal to participate in the ritual and festival. I am in support of culture and tradition as it promotes tourism and boost the economy, but not the ones that still accommodate barbaric principles. This monarch supposed to be applaud for his great self confidence in resisting what is seen as evil in sight of God and men.

Every custom and tradition that still consumes the blood of innocent people should be reformed. Till tomorrow I still respect the present Oba of Benin Kingdom for his great cultural reformation in the Kingdom. God bless any monarch, king, queen, prince and princess that rebukes the ancient bloody and barbaric traditions of his/her kingdom, to the latest ways of serving the living God. Cultures and traditions must stay but not the barbaric practiced ones.
