Am looking at 5 or 6 . Henry is good at these number of assets.

I´m thinking the same thing but 6 not 5 looking at whats currently flying. PDM began for the C-130 fleet in 2010. Additional 2 is now currently undergoing PDM & LEP so the numbers don´t quite add up. Perhaps Henry should help us as you suggest.

Not sure what the call sign is but the NAF received a total of 6 C-130s about 3 decades back. 5 won´t add up my guess.

If you give me a high precision sniper rifle, it may be no more effective than crossbow. Shiny tools are nice but someome very skilled has to use them. Stats on paper can be crappy. If nt America will be done and dusted in Afghanistan, wont have spent ages in vietnam. Ussr wld hv succeeded in Afghanistan, BH wld hv been decimated in weeks of their 2nd coming, the black hawk down ish wld never have happened.

Well it appears someone has the thinking of a professional serviceman. I´ve happed on it all day that whats on paper ain´t reality. It´s of no use trying to convince internet warriors who probably never fired a rifle in their life until as usual exigencies bring the reality to the fore as enumerated above. A combatant knows its probably unnecessary telling an amateur with a high performance rifle he can get killed but of course he feels invincible until he actually gets killed by the skilled operator with an Ak who knows the weapon of his enemy.

If i´m given command of troops i´ll take what works, rugged and compatible with my doctrine of combat. The point is getting the job done not action for the cameras.

Anyone see the embarrassment the IGP Kpotun Idris is increasingly becoming. This guy couldn't put two English words together. He was even assisted to read. Oh my! This is what happens in a place where loyalty is placed above merit. Meanwhile he is looking for people to implicate to pls Aso Rock; the most partisan IGP ever in history. He is the complete contrast to the urbane gentleman and police chief in Lagos Edgal, an educated man, who I'm confident would have honored the Senate invitation setting a good example.

Apparently the Military is one of the few institutions we have left always with it's honor intact. It gives joy to go abroad and come back home to see our military is comparable to what obtains in the west.

Active: The Nigerian Navy has acquired 179 high speed boats six of which are "Ocean Fast Patrol Brands". It is also increasing its Falcon Eye System from nine to 12 sites in addition to its upgraded Regional Maritime Awareness Capability (RMAC) architecture spread across nine sites including Naval HQ Abuja. The Navy has also adopted a two-pronged approach for procurement: ships & boats are being acquired from foreign countries whilst being complemented with local construction of ships & boats. The Nigeran Navy is also refitting defective NN ships at its Naval dockyards for availability.

My Take: The Navy Chief though secretive but not to be undone by the other service chiefs appear to be working too quietly behind the scenes.

The discussion has already been had RE: Angolan Su-30K v Gripen - I believe a senior member of 2 Squadron did a presentation while as a notable South African defence analyst wrote an article on the topic.

I believe the conclusion was that if the Gripen were armed with BVR missles, the Angolans would lose. But without BVRM the Gripen would (obviously) lose. In the hypothetical example BVRM specifications and logistical issues were excluded as variables.

It came down to tactics and employment.
