As for front line fighters, with the purchase of the Tucanos, it will be very unlikely that Nigeria will still go ahead with the JF-17 thunder. I seriously doubt it.

My thinking is, i don't see the new capability the JF-17 will bring to the table that the F-7 and Tucanos cannot fulfil.

Instead of the JF-17, irrespective of what the budget says, military planners might be looking elsewhere. Transport aircrafts or a twin engine fighter.

This is my opinion.

Besides why bother buying a JF-17 Block II now when in 10 years 4 generation technology might become obsolete. Instead, wait and go for a 4+ generation aircraft.

One glaring exception this moment is combat range...you do have a point looking at tmrw.

As yet nothing we know has changed on JF-17 order. The Block 111 will come on stream anyway. The twin engine is a high possibility.

Transports aren't appearing on the radar at least for now.

See your shallow thinking -- expensive to you mean more modern and sophisticated, sry for u, that thinking (which actually is the problem across the board in ur country) is why ur airforce is stuck with expensive hardware it struggles to maintain and therefore inefficient.

Pricing is a matter of lobbying by the various entities involved in the production of the different types Mil-35M, Mi-28NE & Ka-52 which is offered for dedicated specific roles.

But to burst your bubble the Mi-35M is still considered the sturdier of all three and remains presently the work horse of Russia's Aerospace forces and other elements of it's armed forces.

Nigeria's military planners don't buy for the gallery but what works, easy to maintain and cost effective. That way you don't only exist on paper. Copy that..!

That's a story for your ego. Each is a great asset in it's own right albeit Nigeria's New Mi-35Ms are much more modern.

Nigeria's Mi-35Ms are even more brand new and whilst both are advanced AHs the New Mi-35Ms delivered to Nigeria has more modern and sophisticated technology.

MI 28N is a specialized attack helicopter without troop carrying capability. It faster, more manoeuvrable and carries more weapon load. I think the latest MI 35M has the same sensor capability as MI 28 and similar weapon delivery. It is just slower, less weapon load and has to carry troops.

Nigeria took the right decision buying MI 35. If your enemy were a large conventional Army with many armoured vehicles then MI 28 may be better but the flexibility of MI 35 is unmatched, you can destroy ten Boko Haram vehicles, drop an ambush party to deal with the remaining terrorists, pick 6 injured soldiers to the hospital and still destroy more Bokos on the trip back.

The Mi-series of helicopter gunships of different designations mean different things—to different situations. What I mean is this: an example of the Mi-35m delivered to Venezuela is not the same as the Mi-35m delivered to Nigeria. Same as the Mi-28 dedicated attack helo delivered to Algeria doesn't mean it's more advanced than the Mi-35m employed by the Russian Air Force.

It's like making comparisons between the T-72 and the T-90. While popular opinion may think the latter more potent, many Russian Tank commanders prefer upgraded T-72s to the T-90 for it's features.

When it comes to Aircraft the sub-systems you put on them is what makes a lot of the difference. Such that you can take a relatively cheaper machine and bring it to par with modern sensors and avionics suite.

The much I can tell you is the NAFs Mi-35Ms come with multiple armament suites that enables it to independently acquire multiple targets, choose and decide which targets to engage whilst simultaneously detecting and defending against threats in any weather etc.

That said, contingency determines in which role it is employed by the commander including but not limited to a dedicated attack role or troop assault while providing cover.

Being a dedicated attack helo doesn't equate more sophistication; that is a matter of roles.

At this very moment the NAFs Mi-35Ms are the most modern and sophisticated of all Mi-series combat helicopters on the African continent.

Nah, she made the cut. Though very rare there are women that compete favourably with men. Though not suggesting hyperandrogenism as that is doubtful considering her very clear female voice and body structure and only the Army privy to her medical records it does exist as an advantage.

She is special forces and part and parcel of that team in the exercise. The contours of her body already tells us she's a woman but her ruggedness in movement and performance in the exercise didn't fall short of SF standard.

Special mention of her being qualified SOF was made to the military chiefs at the #ALFS 2018 Nigerian Army demonstration.

President Trump just confirmed the US will be selling helicopters to Nigeria and they will be delivered soon.

Maybe he is mistaking it for the Tucano, but who knows?

The job of the AFSF also includes grabbing HVT, Recon and FAC. However the role they've mostly played is that of a super specialized light infantry.

Members of the AFSF come only from the SBS, Regiment and Army Special Forces.

That role is because of the nature of combat in situ not because that's what they are. Most military theater commanders, Generals and field marshals throughout history have adapted available forces for various roles including for non-traditional duties depending on exigencies.

Model and others did that in the Eastern front. Biafran commanders like Achuzie and even high up the chain to Ojukwu as well as Nigerian commanders like Adekunle the scorpion did that in the civil war converting raiding commando parties into holding infantry lines and vice versa due to depletion of forces or in cases of encirclement.

The character of boko haram is unpredictable as they have proven masters of adaptation in combat necessitating the formation of the AFSF that can conduct a wide range of COIN operations.
