There is no independent human being.

I know it is majorly used for finances however in the true sense, nobody is independent.

At best, we have interdepdence where all parties bring something to the table.
We are talking about financial independence in a marriage setting NOT in the true sense of independence.
Where are you going with the deflections?

It is actually not digressing.

It is the reason why an average wife feels my money is my money and my husband's money is our money.

I don't get my views about the West from here, I get it from their forums and blogs.

The people here are Nigerians who at best see the surface/reaction of their cultures.

The West are actually open to housewifery than we are. And it is a Nigerian thing to discard housewives as 'what are they contributing'.

This is one of the reasons they have laws where a non-earning spouse's needs are accommodated and funded by the working party during a divorce.

Our courts only request for welfare from the spouse not with the children.
Buka what are you typing? cheesy

Western women more open to being housewives?
Western courts provide for the needs of non-earning spouses from the earning spouse?

Lol cheesy

Working wives shouldn’t think of any upkeep or personal allowance.
You probably are yet to understand how women think then. grin

Husband's money is still the preferred choice for spending on vacations, perfumes, phones, jewelries, cars, electronics. Working wives don't receive salaries with an intention to spend it on things like these. cheesy

More married women fit into this generalization than married men.

Well, I am sure you would rarely find a working wife opening a tread on how to handle all the chores alone on reddit.

We have different cultures.

Most other cultures realize that for a wife to really keep the house, she can't work outside it so they frown at working wives.

Nigerians expect a wife doing 9 - 5 bar commute time to keep the house alone while the husband wants to 'rest' and hangout on weekends working same schedule.

We would continue to see comments like these.
This is so not a Nigerian thing. Working wives doing chores is still a big discussion in 'most other cultures' as you put it.
Don't let what these chics type here make you think otherwise.

Let's not digress anyway

Personally I’ve never fancied the idea. Myself and my brothers live with this ideology even in marriage and we ain’t sad about that.

Now ...general question

Does it make sense to give a working class woman monthly upkeep or whatever that stuff is called ? Upkeep should only come into the equation if your partner is a housewife or so....and doesn’t work shocked
I agree.

In addition to that, I believe feminists, psuedo-feminists, SJWs, in fact, any woman who claims to be a strong independent woman by attaching herself to any of these listed labels, ought NOT to expect to be given "upkeep" as a matter of principle.

Oh how I hate this word, "upkeep".

For wives (working or not) who deserve it, I'd rather refer to it as an 'honorarium'.

Romance › Re: She Wants Her Name To Be Uppercase During An 'informal' Chat! by crackhaus: 9:17am On Oct 26, 2019
bentenny:
Was having a very lovely conversation with a female friend on a social media platform...and during the conversation, I addressed her with lowercase letters ie 'amanda' but she said I should address her as 'Amanda'

I enquired about the reasoning behind such and wondered why she was insistent on the first letter of her name being an uppercase letter...I also reminded her that it was an informal chat that should not necessarily involve any formality on our part....

But she kept insisting on it....so I just placed all to full uppercase letters AMANDA

For me,I think its too petty and childish....and besides, being addressed with an 'amanda' does not in anyway take way one's relevance and respect!

Just wanted to share this and seek differing opinions from others on this platform...Thanks!
She does not know where her problem is coming from in her life, that is why she can be insisting on something so irrelevant.

Correcting you is one thing, insisting on it is mental.

We taught my younger sister self defense and all thencheesy
We actually got all hyped one day when she decided that she was ready to face her bully...(she was meant to face the opponent and start pulverising her immediately, giving her no or little chance to react)
So we agreed that once we made one sound from our balcony upstairs? It would be the cue for her to attack
Hmmm! My brother who was the mastermind sounded the cue, for where? The others tried, for where? I even joined, nothing
My sister kept raising her hand in an I know what I am doing way. I think she even irritably told us to allow her handle it
By the fourth call the bully had obviously gotten wind of a plan, and the next thing we knew and saw, was my sister flat on the ground and crying! The mortification that we all felt cheesy
The cowardly and stubborn girl later came upstairs and started blaming us and our “stupid” plan! shocked
Well in their friendship/rivalry she remained the less strong one, till we all moved
Lol

I don’t know how you can help your son, just be sure it’s bullying and not you being overprotective. If it’s bullying, the bully’s family must be informed too, bullies are a horror, and there is still time to salvage this one
I admit I didn’t read everything
Sorry!
Good luck to you all
What kind of self-defense did you people teach your sister? cheesy

Perception is very important, there's no such thing is 'I don't care'.
Being able to mould your perception into exactly how you want it, is a gift that not a lot of people have.

For instance, you say you see yourself as bold and a risk taker, yet people around you misconstrue that as being arrogant and reckless.
The truth is that you are right about yourself, and they are also right about you -it's called perspective.

The problem with the mismatch is that you lack an ability called extrasensory perception (layman refer to this as 'people skills') - this ability is what allows a person view themselves impersonally, as if through the eyes of others, and then postures accordingly.

While it is okay to 'not care' what people think, unless you live alone on an island in the Indian Ocean without any human contact, then you will have to care what some people think of you at some point in life.

As for me,I can't believe a lady could be this daft to reason this way not to talk of even typing that as a response to her bf

If some humans (ladies) actually reason like this, then evolution is true and we are beginning to evolve back to apes and restart the evolution cycle oncece again
She's gutsy, I'll give her that.

A lot of other women like her are only thinking it, but will not put it to words.
They'll probably say something else like, 'You're never supportive', 'You don't support my dreams', 'Why don't you care about my needs?' Etc

Nothing new here.

This is the mentality of most Nigerian women, girlfriends & wives inclusive. Why do you think there are so many issues between wives and mother-in-laws?
If they are not dragging the man's attention, it is money.

According to the therapists, if he doesn't grow out of it, what happens?

Besides, what is the usefulness of the parents if they cannot put the boy on the right part and re-affirm to him that he is a boy?

If he thinks he is a goat tomorrow and starts to eat grass, will his mom look for therapists or insist that he is human?

If he believes that he can not achieve anything, will she get the therapists' opinion or take him through self esteem and self love courses to re-affirm that he can excel in whatever he does?

Why this yeye sexual/ gender politics?

You can't compare Nigerian Tomboyism to this. Which Nigerian parent would flog the madness out of Shade who asks to be called Tunji?

Each continent has their madness.

The same way I wouldn't compare an American calling a child a witch to a Nigerian.
cheesy cheesy

Don't bother.
Only SJWs will try to explain away this stupidity.

The 7year old boy told therapists that he was a girl and wanted to be called Luna, so therefore his mother was professionally advised to allow him socially transition and not suppress him.
If James had also told the therapists he was a fish and wanted to live underwater, I'm sure they would advise his mother to begin dressing him up in Aquaman costumes and start training him on how to live inside an aquarium.

There's a movie out now titled 'Joker'. Most theatres showing it employed extra security and banned people from painting their faces or wearing the Joker mask into their premises. One theatre in particular completely refused to screen the movie because it was the scene of a shooting back when 'Batman: The Dark Knight' came out.
Apparently, one movie goer then had worn the joker costume and murdered people in that theatre. He, just like little James here, thought that he was the real life incarnation of the Joker character from the movies.
I am pretty sure that before he left home that day, his parents just like James' mother, thought telling him to dress normal would have been suppression.

Jokers, all of them...

The LGBT community is one of the most annoying group of people on planet Earth.

They are always demanding for right and fairness which they are not willing to give to this Lil boy. They are the ones behind this lunatic mother making her to feel powerful.
It's just so silly and makes no sense among sensible people.

The same kids under 18 who they say cannot give informed consent before engaging in sex acts, suddenly are now well informed enough to decide if they want to be a boy or a girl.

The numbers will just keep going up especially with the way the internet and social media has made people more self-absorbed.

After they send her to the mental home, she should also be chained to a bed for good measure.
