sharone21: Yes, because women lose a lot just to be married....she has to GIVE her life (if possible) through death and life child bearing this is apart from each child taking up to 5yrs of her life before he can be a bit 'independent' to walk to a nearby school....women SERVE a lot in marriage so, no sane woman would want to be in a 'cheated' relationship and thus would voice out. Okay, correct me in case I'm wrong. Your point is, it's okay for wives to buy properties in their own name BUT it's cheating if a husband buys solely in his name. No? |
Family › Re: Is It Right For A Wife To Keep Properties In Her Name? by crackhaus: 7:10am On Nov 05, 2019 |
Odunharry: I'm telling you. I don't have a problem when a lady buys properties in her name, infact many of them should do incase things go wrong in the future, bit they shouldn't scream murder if the husband do the same thing.
I posted a pix sometimes where an HR officer was suprised and ask why women don't use their husband as NOK but majority of men uses their wives. Won't be surprise if many of them do the same thing since property is involved. Yup, I think I was on that thread. My own is, do only what you can take being done to you. If wives like, they can use their dead grandmother as NOK for all I care...as long as they don't scream blue murder when husbands skip them the same way. |

I'm just more concerned that there aren't that many good materials available to study these wealthy Nigerians in-depth - their journey, their breakthroughs, their success paths. It's either you're right and it is really because there are things they may have done that can't be talked about, or it is just a typical case of getting to the top of the ladder and destroying it so one else figures out exactly how the steps were made. |

The problem with Nigerians like her is that you will never see a book authored by them, a public lecture held by them, on how they made their billions. They always make sure to leave it to your imagination. This is very much unlike wealthy westerners, the most notable of whom is John Rockefeller whose detailed path to becoming the wealthiest man to ever walk the earth, is recorded in archives. |

couragemurphy: I dey tellz you. Our women then were actually hardworking. You will see a pregnant woman then almost due for labour still going to farm carrying loads on her head. Nowadays woman wey dey pregnant don get excuse full ground.....smh Not like we are saying things should not get easier, but these women ought not make it seem like they are the ones who started something new by combining housework with formal employment. Watching too much Hollywood and Telemundo styled programming has affected their psyche. Soft princess life Somebody will go to an AC-tight office where she is sitting down most of the time making small talk and gossiping with co-workers, head back home inside a car (not trekking oo), then start complaining of being tired to do anything. Family › Re: Should Working Class Wives Be Given 'Upkeep'? by crackhaus: 6:50am On Nov 04, 2019 |
couragemurphy: Wrong bro. I think our comments like these are actually making our women lazy these days and not submissive. Who said women dont work back then? Have you asked yourself why most men marry more than 1 wife then? It's because of many farm works. Women actually work then, just that they are more loyal and respectful.
I happen to live with my grannies and even stayed in the village for some years. Women assist their husbands in farming, they sell farm produce, even have shops in markets for their little businesses. With all these they balance everything perfectly with home chores. They dont give attitudes because they see their husbands as their lords in small letter "l". Women now compete with their husbands in other areas except finances. Mind you, then most women have their own separate farms which their husbands only help them to brush and plant/stick yams. The other jobs like weeding, seedlings, harvesting etc are done by the women and their kids. And they still assist their husbands in the main farms. Some are also into fishing, weaving, etc depending on the locality.
Mothers were actually hardworking back then, understood their roles, and respected their husbands as the head of the home just like Jesus christ said. But now they have transferred the respect for their husbands to their "Daddy" in church (Pastors). Average Nigerian wife respects her pastor than her husband.........
Note: still in some parts in Delta state you still see the women doing labour's jobs in building sites while their husbands are at home.....with wrappers on their waist, long chewing sticks in their hands, and bottle of ogogoro on the table playing draft. Man, I don't know who started that bullshít that Nigerian women were housewives in those days. Complete bullshít. Those women were hardworking (farmwork and/or market women for that matter), and they still kept the home-front (housewife). It's the newer generation of women that started seeing chores/child-care as a job description in itself. |

bukatyne: @crackhaus:
Please read this article and comments:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/31/opinion/sunday/do-millennial-men-want-stay-at-home-wives.html You realize that this article disproves your assertion that westerners prefer the housewife/working husband situation right? Well for one, the age group in focus are mostly an unmarried age group...hence what they prefer isn't a representation of their own personal experiences but a reaction to being brought up in homes where both of their parents were working. The article/comments also proved that the male breadwinner/housewife model of the pre-1950s is long gone especially due to economic factors. And guess what, that was about the period the women's rights began to achieve women enfranchisement in the workforce - ergo, more women working. The economy then and now in most parts of the world is just not built suitably to support the housewife/working husband system - double income-earning is necessary. The millennials who form the bulk of the respondents in the article should get married and see if their preference for one working spouse will not bite them in the ass in the long run. As stated in the article, American millennials are basically just acting out because they missed seeing their mothers at home when they were growing up and as such, they want the pre-1950's family system for themselves and their future families. One fact they quickly forget though is that the reason they are college graduates/in college, is because both their parents were working and with enough income to pay for their education, buy them their first car, and give them health insurance. One person in the comment section said he has children in the younger millennial age group and will not take a survey involving this age group seriously...because if you ask them again 5mins later, they would probably change their minds. That shít killed me |

SIRTee15: reporting to the police and involving a family member is a step in the right direction.... its immaterial that the case was withdrawn from the police.... The husband will be cautious now to exhibit his savagery tendency, at least for some time.... That's a lifeline for the woman.... It may provide an opportunity for her to review her situation without fear of receiving further blows.... Even if it's the victim herself who requested for the case to be withdrawn? |

BRATISLAVA: in both instances. Based on the premise that if you want the home dealt with, then that's a housewife's field. Generally speaking if you want extra income, then you cannot have the house wife, you can have the working wife. Just like working men aren't house husbands-except those who work from home. You're confusing me and yourself. Let me simplify. What is more prevalent today in western societies? Housewives or working wives? |

SIRTee15: You are wrong on this.... There's no oversabi.... At that stage, there has to be a 3rd party for sanity to reign in that house.... Whatever the case, the woman's death warrant has been postponed for a while.... The op action bought more time for the poor lady on this earth.... That is invaluable, maybe she can reassess the situation in her home n make a better judgement for her sake n her kids... I believe in minding my business, but not in a matter of life n death.... The op did well, kudos to her.... So after getting the victim to the hospital, paying her bills, getting in touch with the friend she asked for, what else should the OP have done since it is a matter of life and death and not a time to mind one's business? |

Ryan03: its always like this. Lemme give you a short story. A woman passing through similar stuff went to report to the police after the last beating almost ended her life, the police decided to invite her husband over but she refused (later found out it were her neighbours who pressurized her into reporting). She said she only wanted to make a complaint, she dont want her husband arrested. You can't force a woman to do otherwise hence she was asked to leave cause such cases can't be incidented as complaint. Two weeks later, news came that she was dead, died from assault by her husband, he was arrested and charged to court, he pleaded not guilty, remanded in jail and case adjourned. My bro, the case still dey on, funny enough, they have four kids Your understanding is top-notch. |

BRATISLAVA: yes, the West is open to housewives. It's the pseudo westernized Nigerians who think women must bring something to the table, after hearing that White women work without getting the full context, and make a big deal out of it. You either have a wife who is a housewife or a wife who works. When you have both, you have a slave and not a wife. I noticed in this modern world that it is only poor men who expect their wives to work and fuss about it. The expectations are unrealistic. Most men need clay to design women because they're never satisfied The west before the women's suffrage/rights movement took off, or the west after that? |
